Configuring ant to run unit tests. Where should libraries be? How should classpath be configured? av

Hi All, I'm trying to run my junit tests using ant. The tests are kicked off using a JUnit 4 test suite. If I run this direct from Eclipse the tests complete without error. However if I run it from ant then many of the tests fail with this error repeated over and over until the junit task crashes. Any info about what causes this exception or how you've configured ant to successfully run unit tests is gratefully received. ant 1.7.1 (ubuntu), java 1.6.0_10, junit 4.4 Thanks. Update - Fixed Found my problem. I had included my classes directory in my path using a fileset as opposed to a pathelement this was causing .class files to be opened as ZipFiles which of course threw an exception.

Is there a C pre-processor which eliminates #ifdef blocks based on values defined/undefined?

Original Question What I'd like is not a standard C pre-processor, but a variation on it which would accept from somewhere - probably the command line via -DNAME1 and -UNAME2 options - a specification of which macros are defined, and would then eliminate dead code. It may be easier to understand what I'm after with some examples: #ifdef NAME1 #define ALBUQUERQUE "ambidextrous" #else #define PHANTASMAGORIA "ghostly" #endif If the command were run with '-DNAME1', the output would be: #define ALBUQUERQUE "ambidextrous" If the command were run with '-UNAME1', the output would be: #define PHANTASMAGORIA "ghostly" If the command were run with neither option, the output would be the same as the input. This is a simple case - I'd be hoping that the code could handle more complex cases too. Motivation: large, ancient code base with lots of conditional code. Many of the conditions no longer apply - the OLDUNIX platform, for example, is no longer made and no longer supported, so there is no need to have references to it in the code. Other conditions are always true. For example, features are added with conditional compilation so that a single version of the code can be used for both older versions of the software where the feature is not available and newer versions where it is available (more or less). Eventually, the old versions without the feature are no longer supported - everything uses the feature - so the condition on whether the feature is present or not should be removed, and the 'when feature is absent' code should be removed too. I'd like to have a tool to do the job automatically because it will be faster and more reliable than doing it manually (which is rather critical when the code base includes 21,500 source files). (A really clever version of the tool might read #include'd files to determine whether the control macros - those specified by -D or -U on the command line - are defined in those files. I'm not sure whether that's truly helpful except as a backup diagnostic. Whatever else it does, though, the pseudo-pre-processor must not expand macros or include files verbatim. The output must be source similar to, but usually simpler than, the input code.) Status Report (one year later) After a year of use, I am very happy with 'sunifdef' recommended by the selected answer. It hasn't made a mistake yet, and I don't expect it to. The only quibble I have with it is stylistic. Given an input such as: #if (defined(A) && defined(B)) || defined(C) || (defined(D) && defined(E)) and run with '-UC' (C is never defined), the output is: #if defined(A) && defined(B) || defined(D) && defined(E) This is technically correct because '&&' binds tighter than '||', but it is an open invitation to confusion. I would much prefer it to include parentheses around the sets of '&&' conditions, as in the original: #if (defined(A) && defined(B)) || (defined(D) && defined(E)) However, given the obscurity of some of the code I have to work with, for that to be the biggest nit-pick is a strong compliment; it is valuable tool to me. The New Kid on the Block Having checked the URL for inclusion in the information above, I see that (as predicted) there is an new program called Coan that is the successor to 'sunifdef'. It is available on SourceForge and has been since January 2010. I'll be checking it out...further reports later this year, or maybe next year, or sometime, or never.

I am a beginner at c++ and figured the only way I am going to learn is to get dirty with some code. I am trying to build a program that connects to a mysql database. I am using g++, on linux. 403 error after adding javascript to masterpage for sharepoint.

I am attempting to add highslide-with-html.js from http://highslide.com/ to my masterpage. I am receiving a 403 forbidden error when I use the provided masterpage. I have placed it in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\1033. Test javascript files such as pirate.js which consists solely of alert("Arr!"); have loaded from the same directory. I have provided the code for the masterpage. Mercurial hg clone on Windows via ssh with copSSH issue

I have a Windows Server 2008 machine (iis7) that has CopSSH set up on it. To connect to it, I have a Windows 7 machine with Mercurial 1.5.1 (and TortoiseHg) installed. I can connect to the server using PuTTY with a non-standard ssh port and a .ppk file just fine. So I know the server can be SSH'd into. Next, I wanted to use the CLI to connect via hg clone to get a private repo. I've seen elsewhere that you need to have ssh configured in your mercurial.ini file, so my mercurial.ini has a line: ssh = plink.exe -ssh -C -l username -P #### -i "C:/Program Files/PuTTY/Key Files/KyleKey.ppk" Note: username is filled in with the username I set up via copSSH. #### is filled in with the non-standard ssh port I've defined for copSSH. I try to do the command hg clone ssh://inthom.com but I get this error: remote: bash: inthom.com: command not found abort: no suitable response from remote hg! It looks like hg or plink parses the hostname such that it thinks that inthom.com is a command instead of the server to ssh to. That's really odd. Next, I tried to just use plink to connect by plink -P #### ssh://inthom.com, and I am then prompted for my username, and next password. I enter them both and then I get this error: bash: ssh://inthom.com: No such file or directory So now it looks like plink doesn't parse the hostname correctly. I fiddled around for a while trying to figure out how to do call hg clone with an empty ssh:// field and eventually figured out that this command allows me to reach the server and clone a test repo on the inthom.com server: hg clone ssh://!/Repos/test ! is the character I've found that let's me leave the hostname blank, but specify the repo folder to clone. What I really don't understand is how plink knows what server to ssh to at all. neither my mercurial.ini nor the command specify a server. None of the hg clone examples I've seen have a ! character. They all use an address, which makes sense, so you can connect to any repo via ssh that you want to clone. My only guess is that it somehow defaults to the last server I used PuTTY to SSH to, but I SSH'd into another server, and then tried to use plink to get to it, but plink still defaults to inthom.com (verified with the -v arg to plink). So I am at a loss as to how plink gets this server value at all. For "fun", I tried using TortoiseHg and can only clone a repo when I use ssh://!/Repos/test as the Source. Now, you can see that, since plink doesn't parse the hostname correctly, I had to specify the port number and username in the mercurial.ini file, instead of in the hostname like [email protected]:#### like you'd expect to. Trying to figure this out at first drove me insane, because I would get errors that the host couldn't be reached, which I knew shouldn't be the case. My question is how can I configure my setup so that ssh://[email protected]:####/Repos/test is parsed correctly as the username, hostname, port number, and repo to copy? Is it something wrong with the version of plink that I'm using, or is there some setting I may have messed up? If it is plink's fault, is there an alternative tool I can use? I'm going to try to get my friend set up to connect to this same repo, so I'd like to have a clean solution instead of this ! business. Especially when I have no idea how plink gets this default server, so I'm not sure if he'd even be able to get to inthom.com correctly. PS. I've had to use a ton of different tutorials to even get to this stage. Therefore, I haven't tried pushing any changes to the server yet. Hopefully I'll get this figured out and then I can try pushing changes to the repo.

Django - no module named app

Hi, I have been trying to get an application written in django working - but it is not working at all. I have been working on for some time too - and it is working on dev-server perfectly. But I am unable to put in the production env (apahce). My project name is apstat and the app name is basic. JpegBitmapEncoder.Save() throws exception when writing image with metadata to MemoryStream

I am trying to set up metadata on JPG image what does not have it. You can't use in-place writer (InPlaceBitmapMetadataWriter) in this case, cuz there is no place for metadata in image. If I use FileStream as output - everything works fine. But if I try to use MemoryStream as output - JpegBitmapEncoder.Save() throws an exception (Exception from HRESULT: 0xC0000005). After some investigation I also found out what encoder can save image to memory stream if I supply null instead of metadata. Why wont a simple socket to the localhost connect?

I am following a tutorial that teaches me how to use win32 sockets(winsock2). I am attempting to create a simple socket that connects to the "localhost" but my program is failing when I attempt to connect to the local host(at the function connect()). Do I need admin privileges to connect to the localhost? Maybe thats why it fails? Maybe theres a problem with my code? I have tried the ports 8888 & 8000 & they both fail. Also if I change the port to 80 & connect to www.google.com I can connect BUT I get no response back. Is that because I haven't sent a HTTP request or am I meant to get some response back? I don't want to depend on Application Name then how do I check if MySQL driver & MySQL ADO .NET. Does detection become simple if they are .NET assemblies? How to do then? What is the reason of "Transaction context in use by another session"

Hi, I'm looking for a description of the root of this error: "Transaction context in use by another session". I get it sometimes in one of my unittests so I can't provider repro code. But I wonder what is "by design" reason for the error. Maze not being random.

Hey there, I am building a program that generates a maze so I can later translate the path to my graphical part. I have most of it working, however, every time you can just take the east and south routes, and you'll get to the end. Even if I set the width as high as 64, so the maze is 64*64, I'm able to choose those 2 options and get to the end every time. I really don't understand why it is doing that. As you can see, I think the problem is at the point where I generate the maze, however, when I just have it go until the current point is at the end, it doesn't fill every maze and is usually just one straight path. Thanks for helping. Update: I have changed the for loop that generates the maze to a simple while loop and it seems to work much better. It seems that when the for loop ran, it didn't go recursively, however, in the while loop it's perfectly fine. However, now all the squares do not fill out.

For the sake of clarity, I'll use an imaginary football game app as an example to illustrate my question. Say that there are NSMO's called Downs and Plays. Plays function like templates to be used by Downs. The user creates Plays (for example, Bootleg, Button Hook, Slant Route, Sweep, etc.) and fills in the various properties. Plays have a to-many relationship with Downs. For each Down, the user decides which Play to use. When the Down is executed, it uses the Play as its template. After each down is run, it is stored in history. The program remembers all the Downs ever played. So far, so good. This is all working fine. The question I have concerns what happens when the user wants to change the details of a Play. Let's say it originally involved a pass to the left, but the user now wants it to be a pass to the right. Making that change, however, not only affects all the future executions of that Play, but also changes the details of the Plays stored in history. The record of Downs gets "polluted," in effect, because the Play template has been changed. I have been rolling around several possible fixes to this situation, but I imagine the geniuses of SO know much more about how to handle this than I do. Still, the potential fixes I've come up with are: 1) "Versioning" of Plays. Each change to a Play template actually creates a new, separate Play object with the same name (as far as the user can tell). Underneath the hood, however, it is actually a different Play. This would work, AFAICT, but seems like it could potentially lead to a wild proliferation of Play objects, esp. if the user keeps switching back and forth between several versions of the same Play (creating object after object each time the user switches). Yes, the app could check for pre-existing, identical Plays, but... it just seems like a mess. 2) Have Downs, upon saving, record the details of the Play they used, but not as a Play object. This just seems ridiculous, given that the Play object is there to hold those just those details. 3) Recognize that Play objects are actually fulfilling 2 functions: one to be a template for a Down, and the other to record what template was used. These 2 functions have a different relationship with a Down. The first (template) has a to-many relationship. But the second (record) has a one-to-one relationship. This would mean creating a second object, something like "Play-Template" which would retain the to-many relationship with Downs. Play objects would get reconfigured to have a one-to-one relationship with Downs. A Down would use a Play-Template object for execution, but use the new kind of Play object to store what template was used. It is this change from a to-many relationship to a one-to-one relationship that represents the crux of the problem. Even writing this question out has helped me get clearer. I think something like solution 3 is the answer. However if anyone has a better idea or even just a confirmation that I'm on the right track, that would be helpful. (Remember, I'm not really making a football game, it's just faster/easier to use a metaphor everyone understands.) Thanks.

How do you automap List<float> or float[] with Fluent NHibernate?

Having successfully gotten a sample program working, I'm now starting to do Real Work with Fluent NHibernate - trying to use Automapping on my project's class heirarchy. It's a scientific instrumentation application, and the classes I'm mapping have several properties that are arrays of floats e.g. private float[] _rawY; public virtual float[] RawY { get { return _rawY; } set { _rawY = value; } } These arrays can contain a maximum of 500 values. I didn't expect Automapping to work on arrays, but tried it anyway, with some success at first. Each array was auto mapped to a BLOB (using SQLite), which seemed like a viable solution. The first problem came when I tried to call SaveOrUpdate on the objects containing the arrays - I got "No persister for float[]" exceptions. So my next thought was to convert all my arrays into ILists e.g. public virtual IList<float> RawY { get; set; } But now I get: NHibernate.MappingException: Association references unmapped class: System.Single Since Automapping can deal with lists of complex objects, it never occured to me it would not be able to map lists of basic types. But after doing some Googling for a solution, this seems to be the case. Some people seem to have solved the problem, but the sample code I saw requires more knowledge of NHibernate than I have right now - I didn't understand it. Questions: 1. How can I make this work with Automapping? 2. Also, is it better to use arrays or lists for this application? I can modify my app to use either if necessary (though I prefer lists). Edit: I've studied the code in Mapping Collection of Strings, and I see there is test code in the source that sets up an IList of strings, e.g. public virtual IList<string> ListOfSimpleChildren { get; set; } [Test] public void CanSetAsElement() { new MappingTester<OneToManyTarget>() .ForMapping(m => m.HasMany(x => x.ListOfSimpleChildren).Element("columnName")) .Element("class/bag/element").Exists(); } so this must be possible using pure Automapping, but I've had zero luck getting anything to work, probably because I don't have the requisite knowlege of manually mapping with NHibernate. How to pass user-defined structs using boost mpi

I am trying to send a user-defined structure named ABC using boost::mpi::send () call. The given struct contains a vector "data" whose size is determined at runtime. Objects of struct ABC are sent by master to slaves. But the slaves need to know the size of vector "data" so that the sufficient buffer is available on the slave to receive this data. I can work around it by sending the size first and initialize sufficient buffer on the slave before receiving the objects of struct ABC. But that defeats the whole purpose of using STL containers. Does anyone know of a better way to do handle this ? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Here is a sample code that describes the intent of my program. I cant seem to open a new view from an options menu item. The program keeps crashing as it applies the intent and listener to the item. I am just beginning, so please be nice.
