• OpenGL ES multiple objects not being rendered

  I am doing the following to render multiple balls move around the screen but only 1 ball is seen to appear and function. • jquery ondrag map load only what has not been viewed

  When a person mouse down, moves the mouse, and mouses up the system gets the different in the mouse down coord and the mouse up coords and loads in the new map items. However, the problem is it loads them every time so I want a way to track what has been loaded without too much work on checking or storing checks. Most promising. Came up with while typing this. Section the screen into 250x250 sectors and check if that sector has been loaded. Keep track of each corner of the screen and see if there is an area of those that have not loaded. Keep a record of the corners of the screen. When mouse up coords are greater then load the different. Problem is if they are at coord 10,000 then it will load from -10k to 10k positive and that is a lot of items to load. Check every item on the page to see if it is loaded. If I do this I might as well reload the whole page. If anyone has some suggestions; feel free to pass them on.

• Laptop power button not working

  I have a (seemingly rather exotic) Dell Latitude XT2 notebook running Lubuntu 12.04, fresh install. Tried to get the power button to work as expected (opening lubuntu-logout, just as I think it was meant to be out-of-the box), but no success: power button does nothing but forced power-off on long press. Here some more information, please ask if something more could help: Power button is recognized as a device: xinput lists Power Button as a slave keyboard at /dev/input/event1, and I can run a tool to listen to that device and invoke some action (successfully). But using .config/openbox/lubuntu-rc.xml to assign some action to XF86ShutDown or XF86PowerOff does nothing. Works well for any key of the keyboard. xinput --test reports a keycode (key press, key release) of 124 when pressing & releasing the power button. xmodmap -pk lists 124 mapped to XF86PowerOff which seems correct to me (btw: is this the same as XF86ShutDown?) When assigning another keysymname to the 124 keycode, e.g. 'w', still nothing happens when pressing the power button (no window seems to receive a 'w'). Works well for any key on the keyboard. The outputs of xev for a press/release of the power button irritate me: MappingNotify event, serial 41, synthetic NO, window 0x0, request MappingKeyboard, first_keycode 8, count 248 FocusOut event, serial 41, synthetic NO, window 0x2a00001, mode NotifyGrab, detail NotifyAncestor FocusIn event, serial 41, synthetic NO, window 0x2a00001, mode NotifyUngrab, detail NotifyAncestor KeymapNotify event, serial 41, synthetic NO, window 0x0, keys: 93 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 (instead of 93, I also get different values) I might have missed something very basic since I'm not very familiar with both openbox/lubuntu and the X input system. • SDL_DisplayFormat works, but not SDL_DisplayFormatAlpha

  The following code is intended to display a green square on a black background. It executes, but the green square does not show up. However, if I change SDL_DisplayFormatAlpha to SDL_DisplayFormat the square is rendered correctly. So what don't I understand? It seems to me that I am creating *surface with an alpha mask and I am using SDL_MapRGBA to map my green color, so it would be consistent to use SDL_DisplayFormatAlpha as well. • two guitexture that do not work together

  I have two GUITexture that move left and right a cube. Is pretty strange but together they don't work. If I activate only one it works. To be more specific: If I have the left GUItexture alone in the game the cube move left. If I have the right GUITexture activated alone the cube move right. Seems all fine I thought but If I have both of them the cube move only right and not left. Where is the mistake? • LiveCD not booting/can't install Ubuntu 11.04

  So, i got a new laptop somedays ago and as usualy, i went formated it to install Ubuntu. Download 11.04 and burned it on my pendrive using my old laptop (running 11.04). When i tryed to boot from the LiveUSB on my new laptop, it just showed me some weird graphics and if i select any option (can't see what im selecting), it gives me a black screen and that is all. Then i tryed to boot with this LiveUSB on my old laptop, and it worked just fine ._. Burned a CD with Ubuntu 11.04 (64bits) and the problem continue. Then i tought it could be my CD Driver, since the laptop is new and all... burned a Windows 7 64 bits DVD and it worked just fine. Also, if i check the CD/Pendrive inside Windows Seven, all the files there are ok. Anyone have any idea of what can be? I found lots of questions about this, but none of them had the weird menus i'm getting ._. oohh... i also get a "prefix is not set" before the weird menu appears :S My sis specs: Intel Core i5 2400 Intel HD 3000 4gb DDR3 If anyone can help, i will be really greatfull ._.

• xubutnu Nvidia Settings not remembered

  I have an Nvidia card and I'm using NVIDIA Driver Version: 304.51 and the NVIDIA X Server Settings GUI. Everything works fine but when I reboot and login again both my two screens are set to +0 +0 so they mirror each other... I change the settings to screen 2 (NEC LED) to be left of screen 1 (DELL) click Apply and Save to X Configuration File... It all works but when I login again the settings are not remembered... • lxterminal not working

  My Lxterminal is not working. Here's some background: A few days ago I wanted to configure the keyboard layouts for my Lubuntu 11.10 for English and Romanian. You can find a deetailed description of what I did here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=11793260 So, it worked for a few days. Today it stopped working again. So I started reading forums again. I tried to follow this forum: Switching keyboard layouts in Lubuntu 11.10 so I went up in the terminal, went into the .bashrc file and added this sudo tee -a /etc/xdg/lxsession/Lubuntu/autostart right after this: setxkbmap -layout "us,ro(winkeys)" -option "grp:ctrl_shift_toggle" Then pressed Ctrl+X and Enter. Almost at the same time I installed some system updates. A few minutes later I wanted to use the terminal again, and this is what happens: [sudo] password for dora: I type in the password but nothing happens. Also, whatever other command I try to type, it just gets returned. No errors messages, nothing. Please help. PS: Funnily, I just noticed that I am now able to type in Romanian again!

• Ubuntu 12.10 hotkeys not working properly [closed]

  A couple of weeks ago, I ran a distribution upgrade from 12.04 to 12.10. Unfortunately, something has seemed to happen with the hotkeys on the system. At first, I thought that maybe this was just a glitch with the global hotkeys. That didn't turn out to be the case, as the custom hotkey I added into the Ubuntu settings works for my editor. The only default hotkey that seems to have a problem launching is CTRL+ALT+T (Terminal). This wasn't such a big issue to begin with, because I can always just drag the Terminal to my launcher and launch it from there. However, I was on Chrome earlier and tried to do SHIFT+CTRL+DEL to clear the history and it failed. I then tried to do SHIFT+ESC, just to see if the hotkey for the task manager would work.. and it did. I also thought it could be something with the "CTRL" key, since SHIFT+ESC works, but SHIFT+CTRL+DEL doesn't. That didn't turn out to be the case either, as keys like CTRL+ALT+DEL (logout) work perfectly fine. Not quite sure how to go about this, and I haven't found any errors in any of /var/log that raises any suspicion.

• nautilus will not start, no right click menu, apps will not run due to 64bit libicui18n.so.48 overwritten with 32bit, ubuntu 12.04

  yeah so i broke my system trying to install support for 32bit apps. Somehow the 32bit set of libicu*.so.48 files replaced my 64bit files and now nothing works. I know what the problem is and how to fix it , what i need is some help. I need some kind soul running a 64bit install of Ubuntu 12.04 to simply go into their /usr/lib dir and copy the files that have the form libicu*.so.48* (8 of them i think, maybe 16 i dunno how many there is supposed to be since they were overwritten). Anyway if you could put those files in an archive, zip or tar preferred and then email/share the link. I was able to get these files installed but they're from the latest edition of fedora and while i can now use my computer , it's not that stable things don't start right smoothly every time like they used to .... and well its a simple ordeal to put things back the way they were if someone wouldn't mind helping out. also any help setting up the libraries related to 32bit apps would be great as well as i apparently screwed that up royally. • Resized Ubuntu 14.04 partition will not boot

  First, a little background info: I intended to install Ubuntu alongside OS X, but I accidentally erased my entire hard drive and was left with Ubuntu alone. Yesterday, I finally tried to create a desperate partition and OS X. I successfully shrank my Ubuntu partition and created ~40 GB of free space. I used gparted to do this. At first I tried to use Internet Recovery to install OS X on the unallocated space I had created, but discovered I couldn't. I went back to gparted and created a FAT partition with that space. I'm pretty sure I actually did this using my Ubuntu partition on my hard drive (the one I had just shrunken), rather than the USB live boot I had used to shrink it. Therefore, at this point, I think my Ubuntu partition was still functioning properly. I went back to internet recovery and used disk utility to turn the FAT partition into a Mac OS Extended (Journaled) [HFS/HFS+] partition. I believe this is probably where the problem occurred. I successfully reinstalled OS X and found it to be fully functioning. However, when I tried to boot back into the Ubuntu partition all I got was a black screen with a little white cursor (it looks similar to a terminal screen/the Mac DFU mode, but I can't type anything into it. Is there anything I can do to repair my Ubuntu partition? If not, can I at least recover the data from it? Thank you for any help.

• ubuntu 12.04 will not play DVDs

  First off, I'm not just a newbie, I'm clueless! So your answers will need to be in complete idiot language (let's say I'm computer saavy, and I can follow directions,but I've never programmed anything and assume I don't understand any abbreviations. So why am I running linux? b/c windows was driving me nuts!! and my friend convinced me. day-to-day operations, we're doing fine, but when it comes to problems, I've got no clue what I'm doing!) So here's what's going on, my machine is an HP pavilion dv6, my optical drive is a standard cd/dvdrw, when i load an audio cd of any type (burned, official, etc,..) I have no problems, when I pop in a dvd - i get nothing. the dvd icon comes up in my launch tray, when I open VLC player I can find the dvd in the folder... but it won't play. I can watch movies I've downloaded with no problem, I can also watch movies off an external hard drive. The only thing I've tried is removing vlc and reinstalling, and I tried installing a different player (gnome maybe? I don't remember). none of that worked. Again, i can follow directions, but you need to be very specific and don't assume I know anything going in. (I mean, I know basic stuff, but nothing too technical.) PLEASE HELP!!! MY KIDS ARE DRIVING ME CRAZY!!! Thanks!!

• Bubble sorting my array does not sort it

  I sort an array of chunks by doing this: for (int i =0; i<this.getQueue().size();i++) { for (int j =0; j<this.getQueue().size()-i-1;j++) { Chunk temp1 = this.getQueue().get(i); Chunk temp2 = this.getQueue().get(i+1); if (temp1 != null &&temp2 != null && temp2.getLocation().getY() < temp1.getLocation().getY()) { this.getQueue().set(i, temp2); this.getQueue().set(i+1, temp1); } } } What I want is the the chunks with the lowest Y coordinate will be at the start of the array and the ones with the bigger Y coordinate will be at the end of the array. And this is my result: 1024.0 944.0 1104.0 944.0 1104.0 ----BEFORE----- 944.0 1024.0 944.0 1104.0 1104.0 ---AFTER--- Why is this not working It seams fine. I dont want to use a comparator so dont suggest it. More info, the Y cords are floats. I got the result by for each looping on this queue and printed the Y locations.

• mod_rewrite not working after upgrade to 12.10

  I'm hoping this is a quick and simple fix and that I just need a fresh set of eyes. However, I'm fearful that it might actually be an error in the latest build of the rewrite module. I have a .htaccess file that turns on the rewrite engine (I've made sure the module is enabled), creates some rewrite conditions, and finally a rewrite rule. Here's my .htaccess file for reference: <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?request=$1 [L,QSA,NC] </IfModule> Now for the problem: if I go to hostname.com it works fine. If I go to hostname.com/Index it works fine. However, if I go to hostname.com/index it doesn't rewrite the request and I get a 404. I'm not sure what's going on here. I've used a rewrite rule tester and there doesn't appear to be any issues with my rewrite rule itself. Again, this issue didn't manifest until after I upgraded to 12.10, at which point I know that Apache was updated. Any thoughts? Has anyone else here experienced this? I know that two other people besides myself have experienced this here. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

• jquery is not working over local network [migrated]

We even tried removing out nonce store and using a stateless connection, but that didn't work either. We always get the same error. We suspected the issue is arising as a result of the cluster node having a different IP from the load balancer when it connects to the OpenID Provider, but we're not sure. Any ideas?

• Not crawling the same content twice

  I'm building a small application that will crawl sites where the content is growing (like on stackoverflow) the difference is that the content once created is rarely modified. Now , in the first pass I crawl all the pages in the site. But next, the paged content of that site - I don't want to re-crawl all of it , just the latest additions. So if the site has 500 pages, on the second pass if the site has 501 pages then I would only crawl the first and second pages. Would this be a good way to handle the situation ? In the end, the crawled content will end up in lucene - creating a custom search engine. So, I would like to avoid crawling multiple times the same content. Any better ideas ? EDIT : Let's say the site has a page : Results that will be accessed like so : Results?page=1 , Results?page=2 ...etc I guess that keeping a track of how many pages there were at the last crawl and just crawl the difference would be enough. ( maybe using a hash of each result on the page - if I start running into the same hashes - I should stop)

• Do not use “using” in WCF Client

  You know that any IDisposable object must be disposed using using. So, you have been using using to wrap WCF service’s ChannelFactory and Clients like this: using(var client = new SomeClient()) {. ..} Or, if you are doing it the hard and slow way (without really knowing why), then: using(var factory = new ChannelFactory<ISomeService>()) {var channel= factory.CreateChannel();...} That’s what we have all learnt in school right? We have learnt it wrong! When there’s a network related error or the connection is broken, or the call is timed out before Dispose is called by the using keyword, then it results in the following exception when the using keyword tries to dispose the channel: failed: System.ServiceModel.CommunicationObjectFaultedException : The communication object, System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel, cannot be used for communication because it is in the Faulted state. • Is Your ASP.NET Development Server Not Working?

  Since Visual Studio 2005, Visual Studio comes with a development web server: the ASP.NET Development Server. I’ve been using this web server for simple test projects since than with Visual Studio 2005 and Visual Studio 2008 in Windows XP Professional on my work laptop and Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista 64bit Ultimate and Windows 7 64bit Ultimate at my home desktop without any problems (apart the known custom identity problem, that is). When I received my new work laptop, I installed Windows Vista 64bit Enterprise and Visual Studio 2008 and, for my surprise, the ASP.NET Development Server wasn’t working. I started looking for differences between the laptop environment and the desktop environment and the most notorious differences were: System Laptop Desktop SKU Windows Vista 64bit Enterprise Windows Vista 64bit Ultimate Joined to a Domain Yes No Anti-Virus McAffe ESET After asserting that no domain policies were being applied to my laptop and domain user and nothing was being logged by the ant-virus, my suspicions turned to the fact that the laptop was running an Enterprise SKU and the desktop was running an Ultimate SKU. After having problems with other applications I was sure that problem was the Enterprise SKU, but never found a solution to the problem. Because I wasn’t doing any web development at the time, I left it alone. After upgrading to Windows 7, the problem persisted but, because I wasn’t doing any web development at the time, once again, I left it alone. Now that I installed Visual Studio 2010 I had to solve this. After searching around forums and blogs that either didn’t offer an answer or offered very complicated workarounds that, sometimes, involved messing with the registry, I came to the conclusion that the solution is, in fact, very simple. When Windows Vista is installed, hosts file, according to this contains this definition: 127.0.0.1 localhost ::1 localhost This was not what I had on my laptop hosts file. What I had was this: #127.0.0.1 localhost #::1 localhost I might have changed it myself, but from the amount of people that I found complaining about this problem on Windows Vista, this was probably the way it was. The installation of Windows 7 leaves the hosts file like this: #127.0.0.1 localhost #::1 localhost And although the ASP.NET Development Server works fine on Windows 7 64bit Ultimate, on Windows 7 64bit Enterprise it needs to be change to this: 127.0.0.1 localhost ::1 localhost And I suspect it’s the same with Windows Vista 64bit Enterprise.

• Fan not working on thinkpad L430, laptop overheating

  I'm having problems controlling the fan of my Lenovo Thinkpad L430. The fan doesn't start. Without any fan control installed the fan just doesn't run. If I run stress, it does run a little, but it's nowhere near the speed it should be. After a while, the laptop just overheats and stops. I Tried to install tp-fancontrol, and enabled thinkpad_acpi fancontrol=1, but to no avail. If I try to set the fan speed manually, it doesn't start up. In windows, there's a program called TPFanControl. It turns out that this laptop uses a different scheme to control the fan than other thinkpads. The level runs from 0 to 255, and max = 0 and min=255. Now I'm looking for a fan control program that works for linux. Does anyone know if it actually exists? Anyone with any experience on fan control on a L430? Update: sudo pwmconfig gives the following output: # pwmconfig revision 5857 (2010-08-22) This program will search your sensors for pulse width modulation (pwm) controls, and test each one to see if it controls a fan on your motherboard. Note that many motherboards do not have pwm circuitry installed, even if your sensor chip supports pwm. We will attempt to briefly stop each fan using the pwm controls. The program will attempt to restore each fan to full speed after testing. However, it is ** very important ** that you physically verify that the fans have been to full speed after the program has completed. Found the following devices: hwmon0 is acpitz hwmon1/device is coretemp hwmon2/device is thinkpad Found the following PWM controls: hwmon2/device/pwm1 hwmon2/device/pwm1 is currently setup for automatic speed control. In general, automatic mode is preferred over manual mode, as it is more efficient and it reacts faster. Are you sure that you want to setup this output for manual control? (n) y Giving the fans some time to reach full speed... Found the following fan sensors: hwmon2/device/fan1_input current speed: 0 ... skipping! There are no working fan sensors, all readings are 0. • Not Dead, Just Busy

  So I didn’t die in a freak smelting accident yet, but I have been dealing with a lot of different things.  I had to take a bit of a break to deal with the cat death issue.  I am not fully recovered, because well it just happened a few months ago.  It kind of sucked.  Plus the apartment feels a lot bigger. Then you have the whole New York Comic Con thing where I had to plan some cosplay costumes.  I have been trying to find time to hang out with friends and have a social life.  That plus I built an entire presentation for iOS development for New York Code Camp.  I am also planning a couple MS Community dinners (namely one a week from Tuesday) plus a give camp.  I am also planning a vacation around SPS UK plus I will be at SPC.  Life is just incredibly hectic and when you factor in dating to the mix it’s gotten insane to the point where some day I just have to go dark.  Hence the lack of blogging.  I am just trying to keep up with everything and everyone without losing myself. If you guys will be at SPC or SPS UK I will be at both places this year.  Stop by the Planet Technologies booth and see me or I’ll be around somewhere.  I am really sorry if I don’t remember you from an event or if you are someone following me on twitter.  I am trying to get better at the mnemonic memory devices, but I think things broke down around the 47th event I attended or spoke at or something to that nature.  If anyone wants to talk to Cathy, Lori, or I about Women in SharePoint definitely find us at the event.  Anyway good night and good luck guys.  I promise to check back at least once before the year ends.  In the meantime twitter stalking is always possible.  Sometimes I even respond back. • DELL Inspiron 9400 SD Card Reader not working on 10.11 ubuntu

  Im new in linux, just installed Ubuntu 11.10 in a Dell Inspiron 9400, everything works fine with the exception of the SD card reader, everytime I insert a card the computer doesnt do anything, its like the SD card reader is not there.
