  • How to convert from one co-ordinate system to another (graphics)

    - by Dororo
I've been having issues with this for a little while now. I feel like I should know this but I can't for the life of me remember. How can I map the screen pixels to their respective 'graphical' x,y positions? The co-ordinate systems have been configured to start at the bottom left (0,0) and increase to the top-right. I want to be able to zoom, so I know that I need to configure the zoom distance into the answer. Screen |\ Some Quad | \--------|\Qx | \ Z | \ | \ \|Qy \ | Sx\ |Sy \| I want to know which pixels on my screen will have the quad on it. Obviously as Z decreases, the quad will occupy more of the screen, and as Z increases it will occupy less, but how exactly are these calculated? Thanks for any help.

  • Control Android phone via bluetooth

    - by user861973
I have a Samsung Bluetooth device. Using the device I can pair it with my Android phone and I can listen to music from my Samsung Bluetooth device which is playing on the Android device. I am not installing any software on my android device. Now my question is how can the Samsung Bluetooth device control the Android music player and also incoming calls? Remember I am not installing any software on the Android device. FYI: I can connect the Samsung Bluetooth device to any phone like a Nokia, iPhone, Android etc. but I want to know about Android.

  • How to get feedback on mobile application

    - by Jason Crosby
I am relatively new to programming. I have been programming with Java and Android for about 2 years now and just recently released my first app to the Google Play app store. I have passed the word on to everyone I know and posted a few times on Facebook about it. But I am not really seeing anyone install them. I love to code I'm not looking to have the next big time app, but it would be nice to get some installs and feedback/ratings so I can get an idea of how well its doing and if there are any fixes or improvements I can make. I thought about doing an AdMob campaign a couple times here and there at about $10 to $20 per day. But I'm not sure if that will generate any kind of worthwhile feedback. What other things could I be doing in order to get some feedback on my application? Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions.

  • Trial/Free & Full Version VS. Free App + In-app billing?

    - by SERPRO
I'm just wondering what would be the best strategy to publish an application on the Android Market. If you have a free and paid version you have two codes to update (I know it will be 99% the same but still) and besides all the popular paid apps are quite easy to find for "free" in "alternative" markets. Also if you have any stored data in the trial/free version you lose it when you buy the full version.. On the other hand if you put a free application but inside you allow the user to unlock options (remove ads/more settings/etc...) you only have to worry about one code. I don't know the drawbacks of that strategy and how easy/hard is to hack that to get all the options for "free".

  • Get income on a free app, offline?

    - by user717572
I have an Android app which I added adMob ads to. They only work tough when the user is online. Now the problem is, the app is specially made for offline use, so pretty much nobody will ever get to see one. The app is free to download, but I would still like to make a few cents out of it. It currently has around 300, which I guess will look at it about twice per workday. Any help on how to make some money with this free, offline app?

  • How do I take some RAM and use it towards Dedicated video memory for my Nvidia graphics card?

    - by Noah Rainey
I have a Nividia GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 graphics card (so it's quite old), it only gets 64MB of dedicated memory by default. I went into the bios and see if I can increase it, but it wouldn't let me. However, from the Nividia control panel I see I have up to 1071MB of total available graphics memory. I'm not sure what that means and I'm not sure how I can harness this memory and use some RAM for my graphics card. Can someone explain if this is possible and if so, how?

  • Android Google-Shopping API force closes while parsing

    - by Sam Jackson
    I'm trying to send a request to the Google-Shopping API with the following static method which I think is working: public static String GET_TITLE(String url) throws JSONException { InputStream is = null; String result = ""; JSONObject jArray = null; // http post try { HttpClient httpclient = new DefaultHttpClient(); HttpPost httppost = new HttpPost(url); HttpResponse response = httpclient.execute(httppost); HttpEntity entity = response.getEntity(); is = entity.getContent(); } catch(Exception e) { Log.e("log_tag", "Error in http connection "+e.toString()); } The URL I'm passing is this BTW: https://www.googleapis.com/shopping/search/v1/public/products/country=US&q=shirts&alt=json &rankBy=relevancy&key=AIzaSyDRKgGmJrdG6pV6DIg2m-nmIbXydxvpjww Next I try to parse this response (where I think the problem comes in) in the same method: try { jArray = new JSONObject(result); } catch(JSONException e){ Log.e("log_tag", "Error parsing data "+e.toString()); } JSONObject itemObject = jArray.getJSONObject("items"); JSONObject productObject = itemObject.getJSONObject("product"); String attributeGoogleId = productObject.getString("googleId"); String attributeProviderId = productObject.getString("providerId"); String attributeTitle = productObject.getString("title");*/ String attributePrice = productObject.getString("price"); JSONObject popupObject = productObject.getJSONObject("popup"); return attributeTitle; } This has been so frustrating, I know it should be simple but everywhere I look I just can't quite get it to work, I'm not exactly sure what the error is since I'm testing it on my HTC Desire because my emulator gives an 'invalid command-line parameter' error when starting, but that's a different issue, anyway, thanks in advance! EDIT: The first one makes it look like there's a problem with the URL, should I change it and see if it makes a difference? 04-01 12:09:05.142: ERROR/log_tag(24968): Error in http connection java.net.UnknownHostException: www.googleapis.com 04-01 12:09:05.142: ERROR/log_tag(24968): Error converting result java.lang.NullPointerException 04-01 12:09:05.142: ERROR/log_tag(24968): Error parsing data org.json.JSONException: End of input at character 0 of 04-01 12:09:05.142: DEBUG/AndroidRuntime(24968): Shutting down VM 04-01 12:09:05.142: WARN/dalvikvm(24968): threadid=1: thread exiting with uncaught exception (group=0x400259f8) 04-01 12:09:05.152: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(24968): FATAL EXCEPTION: main 04-01 12:09:05.152: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(24968): java.lang.RuntimeException: Failure delivering result ResultInfo{who=null, request=0, result=-1, data=Intent { act=com.google.zxing.client.android.SCAN flg=0x80000 (has extras) }} to activity {com.spectrum.stock/com.spectrum.stock.CaptureActivity}: java.lang.NullPointerException 04-01 12:09:05.152: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(24968): at android.app.ActivityThread.deliverResults(ActivityThread.java:3734) 04-01 12:09:05.152: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(24968): at android.app.ActivityThread.handleSendResult(ActivityThread.java:3776) 04-01 12:09:05.152: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(24968): at android.app.ActivityThread.access$2800(ActivityThread.java:135) 04-01 12:09:05.152: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(24968): at android.app.ActivityThread$H.handleMessage(ActivityThread.java:2166) 04-01 12:09:05.152: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(24968): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 04-01 12:09:05.152: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(24968): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:144) 04-01 12:09:05.152: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(24968): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4937) 04-01 12:09:05.152: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(24968): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 04-01 12:09:05.152: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(24968): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:521) 04-01 12:09:05.152: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(24968): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:868) 04-01 12:09:05.152: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(24968): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:626) 04-01 12:09:05.152: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(24968): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) 04-01 12:09:05.152: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(24968): Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException 04-01 12:09:05.152: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(24968): at com.spectrum.stock.JSONResponse.GET_TITLE(JSONResponse.java:61) 04-01 12:09:05.152: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(24968): at com.spectrum.stock.CaptureActivity.onActivityResult(CaptureActivity.java:78) 04-01 12:09:05.152: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(24968): at android.app.Activity.dispatchActivityResult(Activity.java:3931) 04-01 12:09:05.152: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(24968): at android.app.ActivityThread.deliverResults(ActivityThread.java:3730) 04-01 12:09:05.152: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(24968): ... 11 more 04-01 12:09:05.162: WARN/ActivityManager(96): Force finishing activity com.spectrum.stock/.CaptureActivity

  • Android map performance with > 800 overlays of KML data

    - by span
I have some a shape file which I have converted to a KML file that I wish to read coordinates from and then draw paths between the coordinates on a MapView. With the help of this great post: How to draw a path on a map using kml file? I have been able to read the the KML into an ArrayList of "Placemarks". This great blog post then showed how to take a list of GeoPoints and draw a path: http://djsolid.net/blog/android---draw-a-path-array-of-points-in-mapview The example in the above post only draws one path between some points however and since I have many more paths than that I am running into some performance problems. I'm currently adding a new RouteOverlay for each of the separate paths. This results in me having over 800 overlays when they have all been added. This has a performance hit and I would love some input on what I can do to improve it. Here are some options I have considered: Try to add all the points to a List which then can be passed into a class that will extend Overlay. In that new class perhaps it would be possible to add and draw the paths in a single Overlay layer? I'm not sure on how to implement this though since the paths are not always intersecting and they have different start and end points. At the moment I'm adding each path which has several points to it's own list and then I add that to an Overlay. That results in over 700 overlays... Simplify the KML or SHP. Instead of having over 700 different paths, perhaps there is someway to merge them into perhaps 100 paths or less? Since alot of paths are intersected at some point it should be possible to modify the original SHP file so that it merges all intersections. Since I have never worked with these kinds of files before I have not been able to find a way to do this in GQIS. If someone knows how to do this I would love for some input on that. Here is a link to the group of shape files if you are interested: http://danielkvist.net/cprg_bef_cbana_polyline.shp http://danielkvist.net/cprg_bef_cbana_polyline.shx http://danielkvist.net/cprg_bef_cbana_polyline.dbf http://danielkvist.net/cprg_bef_cbana_polyline.prj Anyway, here is the code I'm using to add the Overlays. • Vector Graphics in DirectX

    - by Doug
I'm curious as to people's thoughts on the best way to use vector graphics in a directX game instead of rasterized textures(think Super Meat Boy). I want to remain resolution independent and don't want to downscale/upscale rasterized graphics. Also the idea would be for all assets to be vector graphics(again think Super Meat Boy). I've looked at Valve's paper "Improved Alpha-Tested Magnification for Vector Textures and Special Effects" and also looked at using shaders http://http.developer.nvidia.com/GPUGems3/gpugems3_ch25.html. Wondering if anyone has done something similar or an alternate approach. Cheers

  • Why do webpages take longer to loo in ubuntu 12.04 than Windows 7

For example, when I click on a Facebook picture, the picture remains pixelated for about 30 seconds, then starts to clear up. Or when I watch YouTube videos, I can't watch them on HD without running into buffer issues. Windows 7 is just much snappier. It might be an issue with the graphics card. • How Did we get from CLI to Graphics?

    - by Nathaniel Bennett
I'm confused when looking into graphics - specifically with operating systems. I mean, how can a computer render a CLI/console along with a GUI. GUI's are completely different from Text. and How Can we have GUI windows that Display Text interfaces, ie how can we have CLI in modern Graphics Operating system - that's what I'm mainly trying to grip on to. How Do Graphic's get rendered to display? is there some sort of memory address that a GPU access which holds all pixel data, and there system's within OS's that Gather the pixel position of Windows and Widgets, along with the Z Index and rasterize them to that memory address, which then the GPU loads to the screen? How About the CLI's integrated with Graphics? how does the OS Tell the GPU that a certain part of the screen wants to display text while the rest, whats to display pixel data? it's all very confusing. Shed some light in it, will ya?

  • Can't get Past Login Screen -Graphics Drivers 12.10

    - by mchangun
Newbie Linux user here. I just installed Ubuntu 12.10, dual booting with Windows 8 Preview Release Build 8400 on a Dell Precision 490 workstation with Nvidia Quandro NVS 55/280 PCI graphics card. I cannot login to Ubuntu - after entering my password and pressing enter, the screen graphics gets garbled for a few seconds, and then the screen goes black showing only the mouse cursor. I suspect it's something to do with my Graphics Card, everything on the GUI login screen feels very sluggish. I know what I have provided here doesn't give you much information, would appreciate it if I could get some guidance on how to provide more useful logs. Thank you.

  • Graphics problem after updating to Kernel 3.11 with Ubuntu 13.04 64bit

    - by Gaurav Sharma
I am new to ubuntu.I have a 64 bit intel processor with ATI 6570 graphics card. Now Ubuntu 13.04 is working fine with stock kernel(3.8). But as I read somewhere that kernel 3.11 do support ATI graphics card better, I tired updating them with no success. I tried 3.11.6 3.11.4 3.11.0 but with all of them I am facing the same problem ... after installing them and restart, the screen resolution get distorted and the unity becomes too slow transparency in dash and the launcher is also lost. Now whatever little I know , this may be related with graphics diver either they are not present or the graphic card is not turned on. Can some one help with this. And yeah i tried ubuntu 13.10 that worked fine but it has some bugs. and yeah please pardon me for my bad English.

  • ListView setOnItemClickListener and setOnItemSelectedListener to store the Selected Item Index

    - by Christophe
Hi all, I have read on this site that it is necessary to customize the setOnItemSelectedListener and setOnItemClickListener of a ListView if we want to know the Index of the SelectedItem (.getSelectedItemPosition()). So that is what I do but it does not stores the position of the SekectedItem, instead i have always -1... What I want to do is just to give the user a way to delete items from a list by selected and Item and Clicking a button. See the code below : listViewPeople.setOnItemClickListener(new ListView.OnItemClickListener() { @Override public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> a, View v, int i, long l) { try { // Remembers the selected Index listViewPeopleId = listViewPeople.getSelectedItemPosition(); } catch(Exception e) { System.out.println("Nay, cannot get the selected index"); } } }); listViewPeople.setOnItemSelectedListener(new ListView.OnItemSelectedListener() { @Override public void onItemSelected(AdapterView<?> a, View v, int i, long l) { try { // Remembers the selected Index listViewPeopleId = listViewPeople.getSelectedItemPosition(); System.out.println("Yay, set the selected index " + listViewPeopleId); } catch(Exception e) { System.out.println("Nay, cannot get the selected index " + listViewPeopleId); } } @Override public void onNothingSelected(AdapterView<?> arg0) { try { // Remembers nothing selected listViewPeopleId = -1; System.out.println("Yay, set that nothing is selected " + listViewPeopleId); } catch(Exception e) { System.out.println("Nay, cannot set that nothing is selected " + listViewPeopleId); } } }); What's wrong?? Thank you for your help! Christophe

Everytime I try to zoom the map via the mapController I get an IllegalArgumentException: 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to start activity ComponentInfo{com.innomos.couponimo.android.client/com.innomos.couponimo.android.client.ui.showstores.StoreMap}: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: width and height must be > 0 This Exception is thrown if I call the zoomOut or zoomIn function of MapController. Sadly the zoomIn function I'm using does not take any arguments. The onCreateMethod where I'm calling the zoom functions looks like this: mapView = (MapView) findViewById(R.id.map); mapView.setBuiltInZoomControls(true); MapController mapController = mapView.getController(); mapController.zoomIn(); I'm a little bit at loss here because I'm doing nothing special. The whole stacktrace is: 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to start activity ComponentInfo{com.innomos.couponimo.android.client/com.innomos.couponimo.android.client.ui.showstores.StoreMap}: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: width and height must be > 0 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at android.app.ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2401) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at android.app.ActivityThread.handleLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2417) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at android.app.ActivityThread.access$2100(ActivityThread.java:116) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at android.app.ActivityThread$H.handleMessage(ActivityThread.java:1794) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4203) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:521) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:791) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:549) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): Caused by: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: width and height must be > 0 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at android.graphics.Bitmap.nativeCreate(Native Method) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at android.graphics.Bitmap.createBitmap(Bitmap.java:468) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at com.google.android.maps.ZoomHelper.createSnapshot(ZoomHelper.java:305) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at com.google.android.maps.ZoomHelper.doZoom(ZoomHelper.java:137) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at com.google.android.maps.ZoomHelper.doZoom(ZoomHelper.java:126) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at com.google.android.maps.MapView.doZoom(MapView.java:1459) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at com.google.android.maps.MapView.doZoom(MapView.java:1468) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at com.google.android.maps.MapController.zoomIn(MapController.java:427) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at com.innomos.couponimo.android.client.ui.showstores.StoreMap.onCreate(StoreMap.java:58) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at android.app.Instrumentation.callActivityOnCreate(Instrumentation.java:1123) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at android.app.ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2364) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): ... 11 more

  • implement a coverflow UI in an Android web application

    - by ravidor
I am trying to build a coverflow UI on an Android web application using HTML,CSS, JavaScript and some images. CSS 3D transforms, which are supported in Safari sine 2009 and on the iPhone since version 2.0, is not supported well on the Android. worse then that, the implementation is buggy on Android 2.1 and Android 2.2, and in each version in a different way. Any idea how can I build a coverflow UI on an Android web application using HTML,CSS, JavaScript and some images without CSS 3D transforms?

  • Incorrect Coordinates From getLocationOnScreen/getLocationInWindow

    - by nimph
A call to getLocationOnScreen() or getLocationInWindow() both give me a top/Y coordinate that is about ~30px (status/notifications bar's height) too far down. The left/X coordinate is dead on. As I hinted above, I believe the difference is because of the status/notification bar... I could be wrong. I think I can solve this if I can determine the size of the notification bar but, I'm having trouble doing just that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Get checked Listitems from ListView and pass that to another activity

    - by Rajesh Rajaram
I'm developing a Androidapplication using ListView. ListView have a one file in each and every ListItem. Here, I have set onItemClickin ListView. So, that if user clicks the ListItememail application gets open and attach the particular file in email. Its for the single File, this gets implemented and working fine. Now I want attach the multiple file in email. i.e. the implementing the CheckBoxin each ListItemand checked items have to attached into the Mail. I know its possible because its very similar to the file manager application that checking the multiple file and deleting the all file by clicking the single Button. But don't know how to do.

  • Why can't we use a Translucent system bars with and ActionBar

    - by Waza_Be
While updating my apps to Kitkat, I just wanted to give them a gorgeous look on KitKat using the Translucent property: Translucent system bars You can now make the system bars partially translucent with new themes, Theme.Holo.NoActionBar.TranslucentDecor and Theme.Holo.Light.NoActionBar.TranslucentDecor. By enabling translucent system bars, your layout will fill the area behind the system bars, so you must also enable [fitsSystemWindows][4] for the portion of your layout that should not be covered by the system bars. My only concern is that I would like to use an ActionBar which sounds the opposite of what Google wants (both theme have NoActionBar: Theme.Holo.NoActionBar.TranslucentDecor Theme.Holo.Light.NoActionBar.TranslucentDecor As I don't plan to use some hacks or tricks to make it work, I just wanted to know if there was some correct way to achieve this or if this would be against Google guidelines.

  • Passing Activity to non-activity object properly

    - by rayman
In my app ive got a non-activity object which it's role is being a manager class. many times i need to pass "source activity" to methods as parameter to that manager class in order to make some operations on that activity. for exaple let's assume we have MyActivity which gotta do some toast. so i have this manager class called MyManager, and i have this method in it raiseToast(Activity sourceActivity) { Toast.makeText(sourceActivity, demo, Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); } and from Myactivity class we calling that method this way: MyManager manager=new MyManager(); manager.raitetoast(MyActivity.this); it works fine. what I'm asking here, is this a proper way to pass an Activity as parameter to a non-activity object? I'm having a memory leaks on real device(not the emulator), I wonder if this could also causing any reason for that? Thanks Idan.

  • Using AsyncTask to display data in ListView, but onPostExecute not being called

    - by sumisu
    I made a simple AsyncTask class to display data in ListView with the help of this stackoverflow question. But the AsyncTask onPostExecute is not being called. This is my code: public class Start extends SherlockActivity { // JSON Node names private static final String TAG_ID = "id"; private static final String TAG_NAME = "name"; // category JSONArray JSONArray category = null; private ListView lv; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { setTheme(SampleList.THEME); //Used for theme switching in samples super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.test); new MyAsyncTask().execute("http://...."); // Launching new screen on Selecting Single ListItem lv.setOnItemClickListener(new OnItemClickListener() { @Override public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> parent, View view, int position, long id) { // getting values from selected ListItem String name = ((TextView) view.findViewById(R.id.name)).getText().toString(); String cost = ((TextView) view.findViewById(R.id.mail)).getText().toString(); // Starting new intent Intent in = new Intent(getApplicationContext(), SingleMenuItemActivity.class); in.putExtra("categoryname", name); System.out.println(cost); in.putExtra("categoryid", cost); startActivity(in); } }); } public class MyAsyncTask extends AsyncTask<String, Void, ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>> > { // Hashmap for ListView ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>> contactList = new ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>>(); @Override protected ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>> doInBackground(String... params) { // Creating JSON Parser instance JSONParser jParser = new JSONParser(); // getting JSON string from URL category = jParser.getJSONArrayFromUrl(params[0]); try { // looping through All Contacts for(int i = 0; i < category.length(); i++){ JSONObject c = category.getJSONObject(i); // Storing each json item in variable String id = c.getString(TAG_ID); String name = c.getString(TAG_NAME); // creating new HashMap HashMap<String, String> map = new HashMap<String, String>(); // adding each child node to HashMap key => value map.put(TAG_ID, id); map.put(TAG_NAME, name); // adding HashList to ArrayList contactList.add(map); } } catch (JSONException e) { Log.e("log_tag", "Error parsing data "+e.toString()); } return contactList; } @Override protected void onPostExecute(ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>> result) { ListAdapter adapter = new SimpleAdapter(Start.this, result , R.layout.list_item, new String[] { TAG_NAME, TAG_ID }, new int[] { R.id.name, R.id.mail }); // selecting single ListView item lv = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.ListView); lv.setAdapter(adapter); } } } Eclipse: 11-25 11:40:31.896: E/AndroidRuntime(917): java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to start activity ComponentInfo{de.essentials/de.main.Start}: java.lang.NullPointerException

  • KitchenSink tools/apkbuilder error when trying to run for Android

    - by Lukasz
When I run KitchenSink example project on iPhone emulator everything is OK, but trying to launch for Android emulator produces errors: [ERROR] /Users/lukasz/Android/android-sdk-mac_x86/tools/apkbuilder [ERROR] Failed installing com.appcelerator.kitchensink: pkg: /data/local/tmp/app.apk It happens whatever Androig API I choose (from 1.5 to 2.2 or from APIs 1.5 to APIs 2.2). I am using Titanium Developer 1.2.1, titanium SDK 1.4.1.11 Where is the problem? As far as I can see Android SDKs and platforms work correctly because I can successfully compile Android projects from diffrent IDE (Netbeans).
