• Update Related Entity Of Detached Entity

  I'm having an issue updating an entity with multiple related entities. I've got a very simple model which consists of an article entity and a list of categories the article can be related to. You can choose from a check box list which of these categories are associated to it...which works fine. The problem crops up when I actually come to update an existing entity using the dbContext. As I am updating this entity, I have already detached it from the context ready to re-attach it later so the update can execute properly. I can see that after I posting the model, the category(s) are being added to the article entity just fine and it looks like it updates in the repository with no errors occurring. When I look in the database the article has updated as normal but the category(s) have not. Here is my (simplified) update code... public virtual bool Attach(T entity) { _dbContext.Entry(entity).State = EntityState.Modified; _dbSet.Attach(entity); return this.Commit(); } Any help will be much appreciated.

• How to join a table in symfony (Propel) and retrieve object from both table with one query

  Hi, I'm trying to get an easy way to fetch data from two joined Mysql table using Propel (inside Symfony) but in one query. Let's say I do this simple thing: $comment = CommentPeer::RetrieveByPk(1); print $comment->getArticle()->getTitle(); //Assuming the Article table is joined to the Comment table Symfony will call 2 queries to get that done. The first one to get the Comment row and the next one to get the Article row linked to the comment one. Now, I am trying to find a way to make all that within one query. I've tried to join them using $c = new Criteria(); $c->addJoin(CommentPeer::ARTICLE_ID, ArticlePeer::ID); $c->add(CommentPeer::ID, 1); $comment = CommentPeer::doSelectOne($c); But when I try to get the Article object using $comment->getArticle() It will still issue the query to get the Article row. I could easily clear all the selected columns and select the columns I need but that would not give me the Propel object I'd like, just an array of the query's raw result. So how can I get a populated propel object of two (or more) joined table with only one query? Thanks, JP

• Multi-accordion help (CSS issue maybe?)

  So, I've been trying to develop this multi-accordion news section for this site. It's actually all working, thanks to an insightful plugin. I've modified it a little bit so it works as I want it to, but I've run into two issues, one which is possibly CSS. Issue #1: The idea for the user is that when they view this page, they see all the recent headlines. They can also see who it has been posted by and how many comments have been made to this article. If they wish, they can then click on the headline and the field will expand into the article. They can then either make a comment or view the comments via clicking the View Comments link or clicking the "number of comments" link in the "Posted by..." area (a shortcut to the comments basically). The problem I'm having is if I make the AUTHOR or the "0" comments a link, it breaks the accordion because the accordion uses an A CLASS to open it up. I'm looking for a fix, I've tried making it a H1 or a DIV but that also breaks it. Issue #2: This is a pretty picky one, but when you click the headline it expands, but at least in Firefox (haven't tested it in Chrome yet) the text jumps from the right and to the left, locking in place from which the CSS tells it to (padding-left). I don't know why it's exactly doing that, if anyone has any insight on that, it'd be appreciated. A two-parter to this issue is when you open the Headline to the article and then decide to close the article by clicking on the Headline, parts of the accordion jumps from the darker purple to the light purple before the task is finished. I'm also interested fixing this, but this issue in its entirety are all pretty nit picky things. • MS Access 2003 - Save button enabling on form open on different tabs

  I have a tab control on a form, and a couple different tabs have save buttons on them. Is there any way to change my script or add an catch all to the web.config that forwards the URL to my script? When I use "http://subdomain.domain.com/weblog/year/month/what-ever-article.html" in oldURL string, then the redirect works just fine... so I must have some IIS or web.config settings wrong.   I've been trying to deal with this problem for a couple of hours now and haven't been able to come up with a clean solution. It seems I'm not too good with rails... Anyway, I have the following: In code: class Article < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :line_aspects, :dependent => :destroy has_many :aspects, :through => :line_aspects #plus a name field end class LineAspect < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :article belongs_to :aspect end class Aspect < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :data_type has_many :line_aspects has_many :articles, :through => :line_aspects end Now, what I would like to do, is to sort these in two steps. First list of Articles by their Articles.name, and then inside sort them by Aspect.name (note, not the middleman). For instance, alphabetically (sorry if the notation is not correct): [{ article => 'Apple', line_aspects => [ {:value => 'red'}, #corresponding to the Attribute with :name => 'color' {:value => 'small'} #corresponding to the Attribute with :name => 'shape' ] },{ article => 'Watermelon', line_aspects => [ {:value => 'green'}, #corresponding to the Attribute with :name => 'color' {:value => 'big'} #corresponding to the Attribute with :name => 'shape' ] }] Again, note that these are ordered by the aspect name (color before shape) instead of the specific values of each line (red before green). (NOTE: My intention is to displaye these in a table in the view) I have not found a good way to do this in rails yet (without resorting to N queries). Can anyone tell me a good way to do it?

• Updating a specific key/value inside of an array field with MongoDB

  As a preface, I've been working with MongoDB for about a week now, so this may turn out to be a pretty simple answer. I have data already stored in my collection, we will call this collection content, as it contains articles, news, etc. Each of these articles contains another array called author which has all of the author's information (Address, Phone, Title, etc). The Goal - I am trying to create a query that will update the author's address on every article that the specific author exists in, and only the specified author block (not others that exist within the array). Sort of a "Global Update" to a specific article that affects his/her information on every piece of content that exists. I thought I was on the right track, and here's what I've tried. b.content.update( {authors: {$elemMatch: {slug: 'joe-somebody'} } }, {$set: {address: '1234 Avenue Rd.'} }, false, true ); I just believe there's something I am missing in the $set statement to specify the correct author and point inside of the correct array. • Is it possible to group records belonging to an entity in dbunit?

  Our JPA entity model auto-generates primary key identifiers for user, user_address tables. Would it be possible to group these entities given below via dbunit, so that I don't need to provide neither the primary key as well as the foreign key reference from user_address.user_id. It is getting very hard to maintain these keys (i.e. I would prefer to group the primary record 'user' and the child records 'user_address' so that dbunit can group them automatically by looking up the entity metadata). • How can I create/update an XML node that may or may not exist?

  Is there a method available (i.e. without me creating my own recursive method), for a given xpath (or other method of identifying the hierarchical position) to create/update an XML node, where the node would be created if it does not exist? This would need to create the parent node if it does not exist as well. I do have an XSD which includes all possible nodes. i.e. Before: <employee> <name>John Smith</name> </employee> Would like to call something like this: CoolXmlUpdateMethod("/employee/address/city", "Los Angeles"); After: <employee> <name>John Smith</name> <address> <city>Los Angeles</city> </address> </employee> Or even a method to create a node, given an xpath, wherein it will recursively create the parent node(s) if they do not exist? As far as the application (if it matters), this is taking an existing XML doc that contains only populated nodes, and adding data to it from another system. The new data may or may not already have values populated in the source XML. Surely this is not an uncommon scenario?

• Simple way of getting the Last.fm artist image for recently listened songs?

  On the Last.fm website, your recently listened track include the 34x34 (or whatever size) image at the left of each song. However, in the RSS feed that they give you, no image URLs are provided for the songs. I was wondering if there was a good way of figuring out the ID for the image that needs to be used for that artist and displaying it based on the data that we're given. I know it is possible to load the artist page from their website and then grab the image values from JavaScript, but that seems overly complicated and would probably take quite some time to do. • Is there a tool for managing redundant pages across a website?

  I am in charge of constructing a website with a '2-dimensional' site map, as explained later. I am looking for (preferably a Wordpress plugin, as the site is built in Wordpress already) that would make managing thousands of pages a lot easier. To explain further, let me iterate my situation. I am building a website for a construction company, and they have several key cities and several key services. Now, they want a parent page for each service, and another unique page for the child sub-service, and finaly, a grandchild page for the city they are performing the service in. For example, if they were doing Concrete Construction in Los Angeles, the URL would look like: /concrete/construction/los-angeles The content on /los-angeles would be the same as on /malibu, or /burbank. However, there would be a different set of content for /concrete/design/los-angeles, but the entire page content (sans a few variables with city names) would be the same. Is there a way to manage or automate 'matrixing' this information on the site? I am looking for a tool that would allow me to easily add a 'city' with the same content across all grandchildren, per the child's content requirements. All of the grandchildren pages will have redundant content across them. Should something like this not exist, how difficult would it be to create, as a freelance side project? I need a tool like this, because I am approaching about ~500 cities and 50 services (Concrete Construction, Concrete Design, Concrete Engineering, etc)

• Liquid Layout: 100% max-width img not applied - why?

  I'm totally new to this liquid layout stuff. I've notice, as most of us, that while most of my layout components "liquify", images, unfortunately, don't. So I'm trying to use the max-width: 100% on images as suggested on several places. However, and despite the definition of max-width and min-height of the img container, the img don't scale. Sample code: CSS img { max-width: 100%; } article { float: left; margin: 30px 1%; max-width: 31%; min-height: 350px; } HTML <article> <header> <h2>some header</h2> </header> <img src="/images/thumb1.jpg" alt="thumb"> <p>Vestibulum ante ipsum primis in faucibus orci luctus et ultrices posuere cubilia Curae; Proin vel ante a orci tempus eleifend.</p> </article> Please have a look on the following link: http://tinyurl.com/d849f8x If you see it on a wide resolution, you will notice that the "kid image", for example, don't scale. Any clue about what could the issue be, why does that image not scale? Test case: Browsers: Firefox 15.0 / Chrome 21.0 IOS: MAC OS X Lion - 10.7.3 Resolution: 1920x1200 What I get: I get an image that doesn't scale until the end of it's container. The img width won't fit the article element that contains it. What I do expect: I expect the image to enlarge, until it reaches the end it's container. Visually, I'm expecting the image to be as wide as the paragraph immediately below, in a way that, the right side of the image stays vertically aligned with the right side of the paragraph below.

The reason why I went with this approach is because comment form is handled in a separate app. In my scenario, I render objects such as article and all I do is invoke the templatetag to render the form. What would be an alternative approach for my case? You also shared with me the django comment app, which am aware of but the client am working with requires a lot of complex work to be done in the comment app thats why am working on a new one.

• Getting Public Info about Location in Facebook Graph API

  I need to get the living city of each person in a group. Including people that are not my friends. In the browser seeing facebook profile of some unknown person, they show "lives in ...", if this is set as public information. They include the link to the city object with the city id in the link. That's all that I need. But, using a facebook app that I created to use the facebook graph api, this information is not public. I can only get the user propriety 'location' from friends of my that I have permission to see it. I gave ALL the possible permissions to my app. In the api explorer, when I use it as REST, they show few informations about someone not friend of mine. https://developers.facebook.com/tools/explorer/ Also in the api explorer, when I use the FQL, it didn't works. This query works, returning the JSON with the data: SELECT uid, name FROM user WHERE username='...'; But this other query doesn't work: SELECT uid, name, location FROM user WHERE username='...'; They return a json with a error code: { "error": { "message": "(#602) location is not a member of the user table.", "type": "OAuthException", "code": 602 } } I asked for ALL the permissions options in the token. And I can get this info in the browser version of the facebook. But how can I get it with the API ?

  Hello, i am implementing the First Data Global Gateway API into a Java E-Commerce Web application. The problem that i have is that I get an error message SGS-020003: Invalid XML returned from the staging.linkpt.net server. By switching the optional entities off, I managed to locate the problematic entity. It is the Shipping entity. I have the following data inside it: <shipping> <zip>10105</zip> <phone>123456789</phone> <email>[email protected]</email> <name>DJBla</name> <state>NY</state> <address1>some city</address1> <address2>suite 6</address2> <city>New York</city> <country>US</country> </shipping> According to the First Data Global Gateway User Manual Version 1.1 everything is correct with my XML. What I have is two possible address formats. 28 Main St Somecity, NY 12345-6789 or Main St Somecity, Ny 12345-6789 What I need to do Is split both strings down into an array structured as such address[0] = HousNumber address[1] = Street address[2] = City address[3] = State address[4] = ZipCode My major problem is how to account for the lack of a house number. with out having the whole array shift the data up one. address[0] = Street address[1] = City address[2] = State address[3] = ZipCode [Edit] For those that are wondering this is what i am doing atm .   I have a table of Users and a one to many UserSkills table. I need to be able to search for users based on skills. This query takes a list of desired skills and searches for users who have those skills. I want to sort the users based on the number of desired skills they posses. So if a users only has 1 of 3 desired skills he will be further down the list than the user who has 3 of 3 desired skills.
