  • Is it possible to avoid C++ compiler error (C2757) where 2 different header files contain same symbol for namespace & class?

    Hi, I am facing a problem when implementing some new code to an existing library. This library already references a class with a name say 'foo'. The same name is used as a namespace in the other header file which has to be included to implement the new functionality. Since both the header files are a part of legacy code libraries I cannot amend them. So here I am looking for any way so as to avoid the Compiler Error (C2757: a symbol with this name already exists and therefore this name cannot be used as a namespace name). I am not sure whether it is possible or not. Hence, Any help shall be appreciated.   • How can I avoid causing memory leaks in Firefox?

    It seems that there is a lot of information on memory leaks in IE and how web developers can avoid them, but I can't find much on avoiding leaks in FF. I've found lots of random tips on how end users can tweak their preferences, or tips for extension developers, but little on what I can do as a web developer to make sure my pages don't leak. Am I missing something? It seems lazy to just blame it on the user and say "you've got too many extensions". Or are the major patterns the same as in IE -- circular references and all that? Also, if anyone knows of any tools to troubleshoot leaks in FF, that would be great. I found this: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2490/ But it's apparently just for chrome and extension development.

    A lot of sites offer the ability to edit lists of items inline as well as allowing multiple items to be selected via checkboxes and have an action performed all at once e.g. delete, mark as spam etc. But how do you implement this without violating html rules. I need one form for the checkboxes with individual submit_tags for the mass actions. But after a user clicks on an item in the list, another form via Ajax will be inserted within the checkbox form. How do I avoid doing this? I'm using rails and jQuery.

So suppose on line 3, I want to detect if row has changed, and if so, set row.UpdateDate = DateTime.Now. If row has not changed, I don't want to set row.UpdateDate so that no SQL is generated. Is there any good way to do this?

    I am decorating an existing object using the CreateClassProxyWithTarget method. However, the constructor and therefore, initialization code, is being called twice. I already have a "constructed" instance (the target). I understand why this happens, but is there a way to avoid it, other than using an empty constructor?     Hi, I am making a simulator and have written lots of files and headers. The problem is whenever I include a file I give the relative path of the particular file. For example a typical code in my application would begin like #ifndef AI_H #define AI_H #include <cstdlib> #include "../world/world.h" #include "pathPlan.h" #include "skills/tryskill.h" #include "../info/condition.h" #include "dataStructures/destination.h" #include "../params/gamePlay.h" #include "../modules/controlModule.h" class ai { public: etc etc I want to avoid using the relative paths. For example I want to directly include "tryskill.h" and "destination.h" without giving the absolute paths. That way I wont need to bother if I change the location of any particular file. I am using Ubuntu 9.10. Any help would be highly appreciated.

    I have a Teambox installation running on Unicorn, and the latter sometimes times out after 30 seconds. The idea of this configuration would be for Apache to wait until the Unicorn master server sends a timeout, because if I'm not wrong, Unicorn will quit the timed-out worker process but spawn a new one to handle the same request. Is there a way to configure Apache to not timeout like the nginx configuration of timeout = 0? Thanks for the help! EDIT I found a way, though it doesn't really work as I expected. In the ProxyPass directive you have to specify a retry=0 option after the url: ProxyPass / http://url/ retry=0 It doesn't work if the url is a ProxyBalancer though.

    According to this answer: max length of url 257 characters for mod_rewrite? there is a maximum 255 character hard limit based on the file system for using mod_rewrite. According to the accepted answer, there are two solutions: Change the URL format of your application to a max of 255 characters between each slash. Move the Rewrite rules into the apache virtual host config and remove the REQUEST_FILENAME. I cannot use the first method, so I am trying to figure out the second. I have put the Rewrite rules into the Apache virtual host config as requested. However I cannot figure out how to remove the REQUEST_FILENAME and still have my web application framework (Dragonfly) still work. Here is the portion of the rewrite rules that I moved from .htaccess into the virtual host config file of Apache: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-l RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f [OR] # if don't want Dragonfly to process html files comment # out the line below (you may need to remove the [OR] above too).     I have a blog. The blog is stored under the /blog/ prefix on my website. It has the usual URLs for a blog, so articles have URLs in the format /blog/:year/:month/:day/:title/. First and foremost, I want to automatically redirect visitors to the www subdomain (in case they leave that off), and internally rewrite the root URL to /blog/, so that the front page of the blog appears on the front page of the site. I have accomplished that with the following set of rewrite rules in my .htaccess file: RewriteEngine On # Rewrite monkey-robot.com to www.monkey-robot.com RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^monkey-robot\.com$ RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.monkey-robot.com/$1 [R=301,L] RewriteRule ^$ /blog/ [L] RewriteRule ^feeds/blog/?$ /feeds/blog/atom.xml [L] That works fine. The problem is that the front page of the blog now appears at two distinct URLs: / and /blog/. So I'd like to redirect the /blog/ URL to the root URL.     This is the problem: Suddenly, you double click on desktop wacom tablet settings icon, and it wont show the dialog. It appears to be loaded as it's shown down in the windows taskbar. I suspect is caused by change of resolution or some setting, maybe suddenly it sets the origin of the panel dialog at some 3000 thosand pixels to the right or something. I have digged that wacom_tablet.dat file to see if I fix it changing some value there, but looks like a log, a history, more than a ini for settings... And anyway does not solve it. My solution is having always a very complete settings file done and backed up to restore (with wacom utility for this, which in previous driver versions did not exist) when this happens, but is counter productive: You change the settings even per each project(and software) needs. I have seen it happenning with Cintiq 12", intuos4 A6, Graphires, Intuos 1. Is just me, doing something weird every time? I doubt it, is normal use, I am amazed that seems no one else had this prob(or nobody asked), happens often with typical use. Maybe is because am setting a shortcut in the desktop? Weird as it works perfect till some random moment... (Have digged Wacom's forums and FAQs, then here, but nothing related to it... Neither in "related questions".) The thing happens in Win XP, 7, etc. Done so during years in my experience, and several times at work, which is worse.

    Hello, I'm trying to make a bare-bone backup system with the most basic tools available on openSUSE 11.3 (in this case: bash, fdisk, tar & grub legacy) Here's the workflow for my scripts: backup.sh: (Run from external system, e.g. LiveCD) make an fdisk script ($fscript) from fdisk -l's output [works] mount the partitions from the system's fstab [works] tar the crucial stuff in file.tgz [works] restore.sh: (Run from external system, e.g. LiveCD) run fdisk $dest < $fscript to restore partitioning [works] format and mount partitions from system's fstab [fails] extract from file.tgz [works when mounting manually] restore grub [fails] I have recently noticed that openSUSE (though I'm sure it has nothing to do with the distro) has different output in /etc/fstab and /boot/grub/menu.lst, more precisely the partition name is for example "/dev/disk/by-id/numbers-brandname-morenumbers-part2" instead of "/dev/sda2" -- but it basically is a simple symlink. My questions about this: what is the point of such symlinks, especially if we're restoring on a different disk? is there a way to cleanly prevent the creation of those symlinks and use the "true" /dev/sdx everywhere instead? if the previous is no, do you know a way to replace those symlinks on the fly in a text file?   • How to avoid ugly dithering when running KDE over VNC?

    I'm currently setting up a new Xen paravirt domain running KDE (4.2.2, from Kubuntu 9.04). As I have been unable to get the virtual framebuffer working in it, I've decided to set up VNC (from the vnc4server package), and run KDE over Xvnc. This is all fine and good, and KDE starts up okay. However, all the colours look dithered, especially on the task bar and title bar, making them impossible to see. From my web searches, it appears to be because these items are drawn using Porter-Duff. This is especially the case when using the Oxygen style, and Oxygen and Ozone window titlebars (selecting these styles generates messages about Porter-Duff being unavailable); not using those styles at least makes most of the UI widgets and window titles usable again. But this doesn't solve the problem for the task bar, nor for the desktop, where the only theme available to me is Oxygen (this is under the "Desktop Settings - Plasma Workspace" window, just for reference). So, unless I have a way to use a non-Porter-Duff theme for those, it seems that KDE would still be unusable under VNC. So if someone experienced with KDE can advise on how to work around, or even fix, these issues, I'd appreciate it very much. :-)
