Object Oriented Programming Problem

I'm designing a little CMS using PHP whilst putting OOP into practice. I've hit a problem though. I have a page class, whos constructor accepts a UID and a slug. This is then used to set the properties (unless the page don't exist in which case it would fail). Anyway, I wanted to implement a function to create a page, and I thought ... what's the best way to do this without overloading the constructor. What would the correct way, or more conventional method, of doing this be? Nokogiri changing custom elements

Hi, I have sample html that I have marked up with some special tags that will be used by a different program, an example of the html is below. You should note the <START:organization>..<END> elements. <html> <head/> <body> <ul> <li> <START:organization> Advanced Integrated Pest Management <END> </li> <li> <START:organization> American Bakers Association <END> </li> </ul> </body> </html> I wanted to use nokogiri to preprocess the html to easily remove irrelevant tags like <script>. I created the following extension to the nokogiri document class: module Nokogiri module HTML class Document def prepare_html xpath("//script").remove to_html.remove_new_lines end end end end The problem is that nokogiri is changing the <START:organization> element to <organization>. Is there anyway that I can preserve the htnl to maintain my custom markup tags? Thanks Paul

using the :sass filter with :css

We are currently making a widget that requires some default declared styles along with it(widget html is included by javasacript, along with the default css in style tags) but the problem is i can't "chain" haml filters. What I'm trying to do is to add an internal stylesheet along with the widget like so: <style type="text/css"> p {color: #f00;} </style> <div id="widget-goes-here"> <p>etc</p> </div> We are using haml so I tried doing it with the sass filter: :sass p :color #f00 #widget-goes-here %p etc sadly, it just generated a div with a p plus the generated css code literally on top: p {color: #f00;} paragraph here I then tried using the :css filter of haml to enclose the thing in style tags(theoretically it should then turn the paragraph text color to red): :css :sass p :color #f00 #widget-goes-here %p etc But this also failed, it did generated style tags but then it just enclosed the words :sass p :color #f00 in it(it didn't parse the sass code) We did change it to :css p {color: #f00} and it worked out fine, but I still plan on doing the styling in sass(instead of plain old css) is there a way to do this?

How do I write this SQL statement to get the ad and posting? (PHP/MySQL)

I am a little confused on the logic of how to write this SQL statement. When a user clicks on a tag, say HTML, it would display all the posts with HTML as its tag. Commenting out portions of code in Scala

I am looking for a C(++) #if 0 -like way of being able to comment out whole pieces of Scala source code, for keeping around experimental or expired code for a while. I tried out a couple of alternatives and would like to hear what you use, and if you have come up with something better? // Simply block-marking N lines by '//' is one way... // <tags> """ anything My editor makes this easy, but it's not really The Thing. It gets easily mixed with actual one-line comments. Confirm bug Magento 1.4 'show/hide editor' in CMS

Hi When entering code in CMS static block(possible page as well) and in this code there is empty DIV tags such us: <a href="javascript:hide1(),show2(),hide3()"><div class="dropoff_button"></div></a> The DIV tags will be gone next time you open the block to edit. it will look as this <a href="javascript:hide1(),show2(),hide3()"> </a> without the div tags ...and saving again it modifies your code. I think it something to do with the 'show/hide editor'. By default it goes into the WYSIWYG editor, so when updating static block i don't see any other solution than 1."hide the editor' by clicking 'show/hide editor' 2.delete the old code from the editor 3. get code that doesn't miss the DIVs 4. Merge new code with code in 3 in some other editing software than magento 5. paste result in the magento editor, 6. Save Is this bug? What is your solution? Can i turn of WYSIWYG editor?

getting text that will be displayed to user from html

Bit of a random one, i am wanting to have a play with some NLP stuff and I would like to: Get all the text that will be displayed to the user in a browser from HTML. My ideal output would not have any tags in it and would only have fullstops (and any other punctuation used) and new line characters, though i can tolerate a fairly reasonable amount of failure in this (random other stuff ending up in output). If there was a way of inserting a newline or full stop in situations where the content was likely not to continue on then that would be considered an added bonus. e.g: items in an ul or option tag could be separated by full stops (or to be honest just ignored). I am working Java, but would be interested in seeing any code that does this. I can (and will if required) come up with something to do this, just wondered if there was anything out there like this already, as it would probably be better than what I come up with in an afternoon ;-). An example of the code I might write if I do end up doing this would be to use a SAX parser to find content in p tags, strip it of any span or strong etc tags, and add a full stop if I hit a div or another p without having had a fullstop. Any pointers or suggestions very welcome.

Using innerHTML to add ordered list fails in IE

I'm using the following Javascript code to populate a DIV with an ordered list: // send script back in split list var scriptList = script.split("\n"); var finalScript = "<ol>\n"; var count = 0; while(scriptList.length >= count) { if((scriptList[count]=="") || (scriptList[count] == undefined)) { count ++; continue; } finalScript = finalScript + "<li>" + scriptList[count] + "</li>\n"; count ++; } finalScript = finalScript + "</ol>"; scriptingDiv.innerHTML = finalScript; In firefox, if i look in the DOM using Firebug, this correctly translates to the following and correctly displays an ordered list. <ol> <li>This is the first item in the list</li> <li>This is the second item in the list</li> </ol> In IE, it displays as if the </li> tags are <br /> tags and ignores all the other tags, like this: This is the first item in the list This is the second item in the list Do I need to dynamically add the ordered list to the DOM for this to work? As opposed to just setting the html code in the div using .innerHTML? TIA

Currently I have a jumbotron setup with some paragraph text, and I would like to stick a button dropdown inline with the text. If it is outside of the <p> tag it functions fine, but I would like it to be inline with the text and need the text to be in the <p> tag to get the style. Any ideas? Things to note -- If I replace the <span> tags with <div> tags, it will work fine within the <p> tags, but won't be inline.

Sorting text and attached images in MFMailCompositeViewController?

In the app I'm currently writing I'd like to populate the message body of an e-mail with a combination of text and images. It took me forever to find out that in order to get an embedded image, you had to have bold tags in the message body (...uhhh, yeah), otherwise the image just shows up as an attachment. But now I have the problem that all of the images just go to the end of the body, and I can't programmatically put text after or in between any of the attachments. So far I've tried: Adding images as part of the body string using tags and a base64 string. This would have worked, but most e-mail clients reject images embedded in this manner. Using normal tags with a references to the attached files, using the assigned filenames. Didn't work at all. Attaching images normally, but also attaching blocks of text to the e-mail. The text is not embedded in the same manner as the images. Turns out to be an attached txt file on the receiving end. Apple has restricted their MFMailComposieViewController class to the point of ridiculousness, but I know there has to be a way to do this, because they add in their stupid "Sent from my *apple device name here*" message at the end of every e-mail. So does anyone have any ideas?

Velocity CTP: can we 'search' for objects?

It appears that 'tags' allow us to associate a 'search term' with the objects placed into the Velocity cache space. However, these can only be queried within a 'region'. Further, regions somehow limit the locality of objects in the cache to a single server (or maybe something kinda like that). So this appears to make it hard to perform any operation for which the unique Id of the cached item is not persisted or continuously available to the application that stores and retrieves objects to and from the cache. In any case, I can't see an easy way to 'cleanse' the cache of objects or to find objects across the entire cache that may share some prefix, postfix or infix values in the cache key so that i can clear out the cache of object repeatedly created in unit tests, for example. And I am unsure about the consequences of regions being associated with single server cache locations. So I would appreciate any help with the following questions: What is the difference between a 'distributed cache' (called a 'partitioned' cache??) when using regions, and a 'local cache'? 1.a. In particular, are the region-oriented values in a distributed cache visible through a cache factory that is configured to 'see' the entire cache space? Are the operations of creating and removing 'regions' efficient enough that it would be reasonable to create a region and a group of tags for each bundle of objects that need to be cached? 2.a. Or does this just push the problem of scoping the 'search for objects' up the chain because the ability of the DataCache object to query down through regions and tags as limited as querying for the cache keys of objects themselves. Regex to GENERATE thumbnails!?!?! (but that's crazy!)

Hello everyone! So here is my situation, and the solution that I've come up with to solve the problem. I have created an application that includes TinyMCE to allow users to create HTML content for publishing. The user can include images in their markup, and drag/resize those images effecting the final Width/Height attributes in the IMG tag. This is all great, the users can include images and resize/relocate them to their desired appearance. But one big problem is that I am now sending a (possibly) much larger image to the client, only to have the browser resize the image into the requested Width/Height attributes. All that bandwidth and lost load time.... So my solution is to pre-process my users markup content, scanning all of the IMG tags and parsing out the Height/Width/Src attributes. Then set each img's SRC tag to a phpThumb request with the parsed Height/Width passed into the thumbnails URL. This will create my reduced size image (optimising bandwidth at the expense of CPU and caching). What do you think about this solution? I've seen other posts where people were using mod_rewrite to do something similar, but I want to effect the content on the page service and not manipulate the image requests as they're being received. .... Any thoughts about this design? I need some help with the fine details as my regex skills need some work, but I'm very short on time and promise to pay my technical knowledge debt soon. To make the regex's easier, I can be sure of some things. Only img tags that need this processing will have an existing width="" height="" attributes (with the double quotes, and lower cased text, but I suppose matching the text case insensitive would be better if TinyMCE changes) So a regex to match only the necessary Img tags, and maybe another three regex's to extract the src, the width, and the height? highlighting data values in a sql result set

I can think of a number of ways to do this in PHP or even JavaScript, but I'm wondering if there's a SQL-based technique I'm overlooking. I have a database table, let's say 20 fields X 10 rows. I want to display the entire table on an web page, so I'd do something like SELCT * FROM data_table;, and then format the result set using HTML table tags. However, I'd also like to highlight values in the table based on whether they are the maximum or minimum value in their column. For example, I'd add bold tags around the max in each column. A resulting table might look something like this, with bold tags shown: id | field1 | field2 | field3 | ... 0 | 5 | 2 | <b>7</b> | ... 1 | 3 | <b>8</b> | 6 | ... 2 | <b>9</b> | 5 | 1 | ... ... I could do a separate SELECT with an ORDER BY for each field and then interpret the results, but that seems like a lot of extra DB access. My alternative right now is to just fetch the whole table, and then sort/search for the highlight values using PHP. Is there a better way?

DualLayout for SharePoint 2010 WCM Quick Start

DualLayout for SharePoint 2010 WCM is a solution to provide you with complete HTML freedom in your SharePoint Server 2010 publishing pages. In this post I provide a quick start guide to get you up and running quickly so you can try it out for yourself. This quick start creates a simple HTML5 site with a page to show-case the basics and the power of DualLayout. We will create the site in its own web application. Normally there are many things you have to do to create a clean start point for your SharePoint 2010 WCM site. All those steps will be provided in later posts. For now we want to give you the minimal set of steps to take to get DualLayout working on your machine. Create an authenticated web application with hostheader cms.html5demo.local on port 80 for the cms side of the site. Click the Create Site Collection link on the Application Created dialog box and create a Site Collection based on the Publishing Portal site template. Before we can click the site link in the Top-Level Site Successfully Created dialog we need to add the new host header cms.html5demo.local to the hosts file. Add the following line to the hosts file: 127.0.0.1 cms.html5demo.local Navigate to the site at http://cms.html5demo.local to see the out-of-the-box example Adventure Works publishing site. Download and add the DualLayout solution package designfactory.duallayout.sps2010.trial.1.2.0.0.wsp to the farm’s solution store: On the Start menu, click All Programs. Click Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Products. Click SharePoint 2010 Management Shell. At the Windows PowerShell command prompt, type the following command:Add-SPSolution -LiteralPath designfactory.duallayout.sps2010.trial.1.2.0.0.wsp In SharePoint 2010 Central Administration deploy the solution to the web application http://cms.html5demo.local. Force Browser Mode=IE8 and document mode=IE8 Standards

I have a internal website hosted on IIS. I added the following meta code and also add http-header that the page should in IE8 Browser mode and document mode. <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=8" > We tested it on Visual Studio and and it works very well. However, after we publish the code to another IIS server, one developer reported that the page render in "IE8 Comatiblity" Browser Mode which causes some JavaScript to fail. There are more then 4 people working on the same windows server 2003 (RDP sessions). We use the same version of IE (same IE actually). Everyone get "IE8" Browser Mode but one person gets "IE8 Compatibility" Browser Mode. What else can make a specific user's IE load the page in a mode other than IE8 mode? PS. We checked the compatibility list in the IE; it is empty.

Pylons FormEncode @validate decorator pass parameters into re-render action

I am attempting to use the validate decorator in Pylons with FormEncode and I have encountered an issue. I am attempting to validate a form on a controller action that requires parameters, and if the validation fails, the parameters aren't passed back in when the form is re-rendered. Here's an example. def question_set(self, id): c.question_set = meta.Session.query(QuestionSet).filter_by(id=id).first() c.question_subjects = meta.Session.query(QuestionSubject).order_by(QuestionSubject.name).all() return render('/derived/admin/question_set.mako') This is the controller action that contains my form. The form will add questions to an existing question set, which is identified by id. My add question controller action looks like this: @validate(schema=QuestionForm(), form='question_set', post_only=True) def add_question(self): stuff... Now, if the validation fails FormEncode attempts to redisplay the question_set form, but it does not pass the id parameter back in, so the question set form will not render. Is it possible to pass the id back in with the @validate decorator, or do I need to use a different method to achieve what I am attempting to do?

Force "Internet Explorer 8" browser mode in intranet

There are "Internet Explorer 8", "Internet Explorer 8 Compatibility Mode", and IE7 mode in IE8. However, the default setting in IE make all intranet website use "IE8 Compatibility Mode" even I have setted doctype, the meta tag, http header as suggested to force it into IE8 mode. I have <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd" and <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=8" But it still goes into "IE8 Compatibility Mode", without any changes in IE setting. How to force it into pure "IE8" mode, without change any browser's setting? PS. I am not talking "document mode" here.

Building Eclipse RCP application, running fails

Hi, after successfully building my application the start fails because it relies on config files which are located in the META-INF directory and after the build this directory is zipped into a jar file, hence making it unable to access the config files. After manually unzipping the jar, deleting the jar and renaming the directory with xxx.jar the program runs without a problem. The config files are needed for SSO login (Kerberos). Here is the code: Bundle bundle = Platform.getBundle(Application.PLUGIN_ID); String path; try { path = new URL(bundle.getLocation().substring(18)).getPath(); } catch (MalformedURLException e1) { System.out.println(e1); path=""; } System.setProperty("java.security.auth.login.config",path+"META-INF/jaas-win.config"); Path variable contains something like "plugin/mydomain.pluginame-xxxx.jar/" But it seems that the System needs the jar unzipped.
