  • Displaying an Image in an activity using URI

    Hi, I'm writing an application that uses Intent(MediaStore.ACTION_IMAGE_CAPTURE) to capture and image. On the process of capturing the image, I noted the output of the image's URI. Right after finishing the camera activity, I wish to display the image using this specific URI. The method I used to capture images is: private void saveFullImage() { Intent intent = new Intent(MediaStore.ACTION_IMAGE_CAPTURE); File file = new File(Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory(), "test.jpg"); outputFileUri = Uri.fromFile(file); intent.putExtra(MediaStore.EXTRA_OUTPUT, outputFileUri); startActivityForResult(intent, TAKE_PICTURE); } Which is a method taken from Reto Meier's book Professional Android 2 Application Development. The method works fine, and I assume that the URI of the picture I just took is stored in the outputFileUri variable. Then at this point of the code is where I want to display the picture: @Override protected void onActivityResult(int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent data) { if (requestCode == TAKE_PICTURE) { //I want to display the picture I just took here //using the URI } } I'm not sure how to do it. I tried creating a new layout object and a new ImageView object using the method setImageURI(outputFileUri). My main layout (xml) did not have a ImageView object. But even when I set the contentView to the new layout with the ImageView attached to it, it doesn't display anything. I tried creating a Bitmap object from the URI and set it to the ImageView, but I get an unexpected error and forced exit. I have seen examples from here here which creates a Bitmap from URI, but it's not displaying it? My question is just how to display an image in the middle of a running activity? Do I need to get the File Path (like this) in order to display it? If I make a Bitmap out of the URI, how do I display the Bitmap? I'm just probably missing something simple...so any help would be a greatly appreciated! Also additional question for thought: If I were to take multiple pictures, would you recommend me to use the SimpleCursorAdapter instead? Thanks!

    I just want to know whether it is possible to develop an Android application that will allow remotely controlling an Android phone in the same way that remote desktop, or team viewer allows control over desktop operating systems. Is it possible on an unrooted phone? The basic functionlit required to acompolish this is would be the ability to capture the frame buffer and programmatically invoke touch on the device. Any feedback on this matter would be highly appreciated.

  • Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException in IE6

    I have a problem with UpdatePanels and IE6. ( Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException ) The version of .NET is 2.0. The strange thing is that if i open Fiddler to capture the requests, IE6 starts working ok!.. If i close Fiddler, then IE6 starts to report the problem. The problem is that i can't see the request because when Fiddler is monitoring, the error stops appearing. Any suggestions ? Thanks

    I have a CustomTextInput component based on TextInput (Spark) component. The instance of this class is placed on a popup window (TitleWindow). How can I capture the popup move (dragging the title) event inside CustomTextInput implementation? MoveEvent.MOVE event of the CustomTextInput itself doesn't work. Of course, I can't access the parent popup window inside the component implementation, because it's a common component that can be used not only on the popup windows.

Everything I've Googled has pointed to mySQL Proxy but I can only seem to capture the database a connection was opened to, not which the current query is being issued against. Is it even possible?     Hi, iPhone app shuts down when ever any call accepted by user. When call ends, app will resume. I want to capture that event when app resumes after call ends. Howsoever I have tried: on App delegate: - (void)applicationWillTerminate:(UIApplication *)application - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application - (void)applicationDidBecomeActive:(UIApplication *)application - (void)applicationWillResignActive:(UIApplication *)application On view load: viewDidLoad ViewwillAppear But non of the above event occur. Dont know how would I know that user is coming back after receiving a call.

I am using the event "change", the problem is that if a user open the select but choose the same option that is selected, the triggers doesn't fire.     I have a Windows application written in C++ that occasionally evaporates. I use the word evaporate because there is nothing left behind: no "we're sorry" message from Windows, no crash dump from the Dr. Watson facility... On the one occasion the crash occurred under the debugger, the debugger did not break---it showed the application still running. When I manually paused execution, I found that my process no longer had any threads. How can I capture the reason this process is terminating?

    When you refresh/reload a page or use the back button, Firefox is kind enough to repopulate your inputs with what was entered before you navigated away. Though this is a nice feature it does not trigger my jquery validation and the unsaved changes warning I add to my pages. Is there a way to either disable this feature in Firefox (without renaming every control every time) or capture the firefox events?

  • What's the best way to tell if the mouse is over a form or not?

    I figured out how to capture mouse clicks over the entire form, but this method doesn't translate well for MouseEnter and MouseLeave. My form layout is made up from many Panels and TableLayoutPanels so there's no all-encompassing control I can monitor events for, and obviously a MouseLeave event for a button doesn't mean the cursor left the entire form. Has anyone figured out a good way to get around this?
