Members of the community nominate worthy participants, Spec Leads, and Java Specification Requests (JSRs) in order to cheer on the hard work and creativity that produces ground-breaking results for the community and industry in the Java Standard Edition (SE), Java Enterprise Edition (EE), or Java Micro Edition (ME) platforms. The community gets together every year at the JavaOne conference to applaud in person the winners of three awards: JCP Member/Participant of the Year, Outstanding Spec Lead, and Most Significant JSR. This year’s unveiling will occur Tuesday evening, 2 October, at the Annual JCP Community Party held in San Francisco during JavaOne. Nominations close on 16 July 2012.   just go to meet-romance.com/test.htm The script there is simple. A form with a button <form action="test.htm" method="post"> <input name="Button1" type="submit" value="button" /> </form> It doesn't work. Press the button in firefox and I got connection reset thingy. I wonder why. It happens since yesterday. I have emigrated all domains that requires post requests somewhere else. I suppose a reset of server would fix that only to happen again some other time. So I wonder if anyone has a clue of why. All domains that require post have been moved to another server.

• Unity3D or UDK or OPENGL from scratch?

  I am just very confused which I should choose in terms of high end game development. The application that I am designing is pretty simple, requires some 3D, and some effects. I am looking at a game similar to ping pong, but with high textures and graphics. I will just need web services to submit high scores. From my description, you can see that its pretty straight forward and I am confused whether I should use Unity3D or UDK or write the entire application myself with openGL (which will take a lot of time though). If you had faced this dilemma before, and chose for a particular graphics engine, please provide your suggestions and reasons as to why that was better. It would be helpful. Also, how can this affect in terms of investment and revenue ?

• I want to try and find and RFC for Business Listings.

  I'm trying to figure out how to find out if there's a good standard format for sharing business information such as: Business Name Address - well-defined fields Lat,Lng Coords Business Type - maybe from a well-defined enum, my starting point contains Retail,Food,Drink,Coffee,Service Hours of operation - including a spot for 'except laksdasd' or 'sometimes we open late' which could be just plain language Business Keywords - don't know if this is asking too much. how well do http meta tags work in practice? So, if no such thing exists, is this something I can submit to IETF? I can't currently find it on http://www.rfc-editor.org/cgi-bin/rfcsearch.pl , and vCard doesn't suit my needs.. Thanks!

  This past week the CodePlex team worked on several fixes to improve the stability of our TFS infrastructure, including applying TFS 2012 Update 1. We apologize for the recent downtime. • Certifications needed to get an interview with no experience and no degree. [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: Are certifications worth it? Given that I have no commercial experience to speak of -- and no undergraduate degree -- how can I best demonstrate my programming ability in order to interview for a job? How valuable are the various software certifications? Should I get the OCA? Should I submit samples of my code? Are there some other skills that I should develop? (I picked up Python and Java fairly quickly--a matter of weeks, actually.) I am a undergrad working on a triple major in math, stat and econ. I consider myself proficient with Python and have a working knowledge of Java.

• How to push through a domain transfer in spite of the 60 day rule

  I recently purchased a domain through a registrar which I won't name here. Within the first five minutes of logging in, I found a severe vulnerability that allows me access to all registration details of all users. Simply put, I do not trust this registrar with any kind of business. But I'm unable to transfer the domain because, for some reason, it has to exist in its current state for 60 days. We're planning to launch the site this weekend - we can't wait 60 days. But I can not trust this registrar: if I found such a severe vulnerability in the first few minutes, how many more similar un-trustables will I find in those 60 days? Is there a higher authority to whom I can submit a case to get my domain transferred to a different registrar?

• Fujitsu B6220 laptop, sometimes my desktop freezes upon resume from standby

  I installed Ubuntu 11.10 on my Fujitsu Lifebook B6220 laptop just before 12.04 was released. I can not remember if I had this issue with Ubuntu 11.10 as I updated the install to 12.04 about a week after 12.04 came out. My problem is that sometimes upon resume from standby my desktop is frozen. The keyboard, touch pad, and touchscreen work, but there is no response from the desktop. I can ctrl-alt-f2 and log in and then from there I just reboot the computer. This happens about 50% of the time when I resume from standby but I have not noticed a distinct pattern. I have thought about reinstalling 12.04, since I upgraded 11.10 to 12.04 instead of a fresh install. But I have customized my laptop a lot and I would prefer to avoid reinstalling it, I'm not even sure if that would fix it. Anyone have a idea what might be the problem? If I should submit this as a bug, could someone point me in the right direction please? Thanks, Matt

• Framework for interaction between web-page and server-side script

  I want to make a web-page that will have several controls elements, among which there are elements like check-boxes, radio-buttons, "range selectors" (one can specify the min and max value, like it is done when you select range for prices in the online markets). The new values shall be sent to the "server-side", once changed (without any Submit buttons etc), and the "server-side" can return something (one or more numbers, etc). Does anyone know a good ajax-like framework that allows (with minimal adaptation / changes) to make such solution in an easy way? It will be good if the server-side of existing solution will be in Perl (not a big deal, but I know it much better than PHP or something else). Set of controls might change and depend on other parameter, so adding one extra element should not cause rewriting the whole thing. P.S.: I haven't working in this area for quite a while, so not aware of existing solutions in this area, and don't want to invent the wheel and write everything from scratch for something that already exist (at least, I hope so). • What technology(s)would be suitable for the front end part of a Java web game?

  As asked in a previous question, I'm looking to create a small MMO that will be deployed onto GAE. I'm confused about what technologies I could use for the user interface, I've considered the following JSP Pages - I've got experience with JSP/JSTL and I would find this easy to work with, it would require the user having to "submit" the page each time they perform an action so may become a little clumsey for players. Applet - I could create an applet that sits on the front end and communicates to the back end game engine, however I'm not sure how good this method would be and have not used applets since university.. What other options do I have? I don't have any experience in Flash/Flex so there would be a big learning curve there. Are there any other Java based options I may be able to use? My game will be text based, I may use some images, but I'm not intending to have any animations/graphics etc Thanks

• Starting Game Programming in C++, where to begin for optimal cross-platform development?

  I wish to begin learning game development in C++. I have knowledge in syntax and the console using Visual C++ 2010, however I want to begin programming. My only problem is that I want to be able to support many platforms including Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. As I get better, I also hope I can submit games to XBLIG (or XBLA) and Steam, and even the Google Play Store (But that would take some porting and major redesign of controls). I have looked into c++ and SDL but I have no idea how to get started. I have Visual C++ 2010 installed and I hope I can still use that as other C++ IDEs are quit outdated. Because I want to stick with Visual C++ and SDL (unless there is a better library than SDL), there is not much room for debate but rather how to create projects to support cross-platform development.

• How to know an article is copy from other site? [on hold]

  We have a site. our main servers is for blogs and freedom write. Our custom can submit their article in our site. But for ptotect the copywrite, we do not allow custom just do easy copy and parse a whole article from other site. At least they should write something by themselves. And how to check if the article is a completed copy from other site? google webmasters? google search api? or other better way? Because we always received DMCA notice by google, so I am tring to stopping the articles before they were posted. Thanks.

  I want to develop software for Linux or cross-platform. I want to work with other open-source and non-profit developers. I want a place where Ubuntu or other developers come to start open-source or commercial projects, and we can join the projects or start our own projects. I know there are social coding sites, but where can I start the project, and invite people or let people join? Then we can submit software to sourceforge.net. I know we can start projects at sourceforge.net, but is there anything more dedicated for Ubuntu developers, especially for Ubuntu and for the Ubuntu Software Center? Would you recommend Launchpad, sourceforge.net, github, gitorous or others?

• How to show history of edits for a post like StackExchange? [on hold]

  Using: ColdFusion 10, JQuery, IIS 7.5 I'm creating a system where people can submit their text articles to me and I can apply edits/corrections and send it back to them. However I don't want to lose their original work. I want them to see where I made edits. StackExchange pretty much does what I want by showing when a post was edited and then you can see the history of changes. Can anyone please suggest how to go about doing this? Everytime an edit is made, it has to be written to the database. But how do I show what was edited? It could be 1 word in a whole paragraph... how would I highlight this? I just need some pointers if possible at what to think about and what to use if anyone has the time to help me out.

That returns the link to the paste online. For example: echo timtjtim | pastebinit gave me the link paste.ubuntu.com/8010000 Which I can share. How can I do this with a file - for example a log file. Surely I don't have to open - > copy all - > open paste.ubuntu.com -> paste it?

• SQLBits 9 goes to Liverpool

  SQLBits 9 has now been announced as 29th September to 1st October 2011 at the Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool. This will follow the now familiar three day format, a training day, and two full days of concurrent sessions. Saturday 1st October will of course be the free community day. Despite growing the event quite dramatically over the past four years, this is something we are all very proud to have maintained and is a key factor when planning the events. Plenty of more info to come, but in the meantime session submission is now open so why not submit an abstract?

• The Ubuntu App Showdown -Specific software

  I would like to participate the contest but I'm programming very specific scientific tools for the work in a molecular biological lab. I know that I won't win with such an app but it's a nice possibility to get into Qickly and Ubuntu Apps since I'm only programming for Windows at the moment. My question is, whether I have a possibility to explain what my software is doing and for what it is good in the lab. Also I have to provide some test data, that the jury can try it out. Is this possible and how I can submit those additional information?
