  • Problem serving video to iPad from Mongrel 1.1.5 , RoR 2.0.2 on Mac OS 10.6.3 Server

    I am working off the Final Cut Server Integration sample provided by Apple that is a Rails app using 2.0.2 and runs on Mongrel 1.1.5. I can have a basic non-Ruby directory on my boot volume (Mac OS 10.6.3 Server) and can serve up video files just fine to iPad. However, when I drag the same video file into the 'public' area of the app running on -p 3000 it will not play on iPad, but will in Safari 4.0.5 desktop version. Images work fine so I know it's not a permissions issue. I'm getting the crossed-out play icon on iPad so it is not an issue of waiting on a large file to download before playing. I suspect it is a Mongrel/Snow Leopard issue but why would Safari on desktop work fine and not Safari iPad?   • How to get video file details eg. duration in Android?

    I struggle to get specific video file details so duration etc. from the file the files recorded earlier. All I can currently do is to get cursor with all the files, then loop one by one.   • Facing a character towards the mouse

    I'm trying to port a simple 2d top down shooter game from C++(Allegro) to Java and i'm having problems with rotating my character. Here's the code i used in c++ if (keys[A]) RotateRight(player, degree); if (keys[D]) RotateLeft(player, degree); void RotateLeft(Player& player, float& degree) { degree += player.rotatingSpeed; if ( degree >= 360 ) degree = 0; } void RotateRight(Player& player, float& degree) { degree -= player.rotatingSpeed; if ( degree <= 0) degree = 360; } And this is what i have in render section: al_draw_rotated_bitmap(player.image, player.frameWidth / 2, player.frameHeight / 2, player.x, player.y, degree * 3.14159 / 180, 0); Instead of using A-D keys i want to use mouse this time. I've been searching since last night and came up to few sample codes however noone of them worked. For example this just made my character to circle around the map: int centerX = width / 2; int centerY = height / 2; double angle = Math.atan2(centerY - mouseY, centerX - mouseX) - Math.PI / 2; ((Graphics2D)g).rotate(angle, centerX, centerY); g.fillRect(...); // draw your rectangle Any help is much appreciated.

  • Keeping Velocity Constant and Player in Position - Sidescrolling

    I'm working on a Little Mobile Game with Cocos2D-X and Box2D. The Point where I got stuck is the movement of a box2d-body (the main actor) and the according Sprite. Now I want to : move this Body with a constant velocity along the x-axis, no matter if it's rolling (it's a circleshape) upwards or downwards keep the body nearly sticking to the ground on which it's rolling keep the Body and the according Sprite in the Center of the Screen. What I tried : in the update()- method I used body->SetLinearVelocity(b2Vec2(x,y)) to higher/lower values, if the Body was passing a constant value for his velocity I used to set very high y-Values in body->SetLinearVelocity(b2Vec2(x,y)) First tried to use CCFollow with my playerSprite, which was also Scrolling along the y-axis, as i only need to scroll along the x-axis, so I decided to move the whole layer which is containing the ambience (platforms etc.) to the left of my Screen and my Player Body & Player sprite to the right of the Screen, adjusting the speed values to Keep the Player in the Center of the Screen. Well... ...didn't work as i wanted it to, because each time i set the velocity manually (I also tried to use body->applyLinearImpulse(...) when the Body is moving upwards just as playing around with the value of velocityIterations in world->Step(...)) there's a small delay, which pushes the player Body more or less further of the Center of the Screen. ... didn't also work as I expected it to, because I needed to adjust the x-Values, when the Body was moving upwards to Keep it not getting slowed down, this made my Body even less sticky to the ground.... ... CCFollow did a good Job, except that I didn't want to scroll along the y-axis also and it Forces the overgiven sprite to start in the Center of the Screen. Moving the whole Layer even brought no good results, I have tried a Long time to adjust values of the movement Speed of the layer and the Body to Keep it negating each other, that the player stays nearly in the Center of the Screen.... So my question is : Does anyone of you have any Kind of new Approach for me to solve this cohesive bunch of Problems ? Cheers, Seb

    I have ubuntu 11.10 and I installed recordmydesktop. Video recording from recordmydesktop always result in screen flicker. In recording I see half of the screen moving forward while half would be stuck. I checked the settings and "Frame per Second" is set to 15 One such recording is available here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QafF44m2Ttk&feature=youtu.be I am quite new to Ubuntu and not sure what is wrong.

Conclusion It’s still in beta stage so expect some bugs, but overall doubleTwist is a solid media player that is easy to use with a clean interface. It’s simple and doesn’t try to do too much so is fairly easy on system resources. The main annoyance is it tries to catalog all of your media out of the box. Which may be alright for some users with smaller media collections, but very irritating to advanced users with large collections. Also there is currently no support for the Zune, but according to their forums, it’s on the way. At the time of this writing it’s in public beta and can be downloaded for XP, Vista, Windows 7 (32 & 64 bit), and Mac OSX. If you’re looking for an iTunes alternative that works with several different portable devices, you might want to give DoubleTwist a try.     I have a Asus EeePC with a GMA500 video card. I followed the instructions on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupportComponentsVideoCardsPoulsbo/, which made the netbook boot correctly. Without any xorg.conf file, Xorg uses the VESA driver, which is quite slow. Manually specifying fbdev as driver in xorg.conf also works. Which one should I use? Are there any other drivers for Xorg that do better at 2d accelleration (since the kernel driver doesn't support 3d acceleration)?

  • How to provide multiple input to ffmpeg?

    I'm using ffmpeg to create time-lapses and it's working great. As input I have images named 001.jpg, 002.jpg, etc. and then with the command ffmpeg -i %3d.jpg -sameq -s 1440x1080 video.mp4 I create the video. But my problem comes when I want to create a video using multiple sets as input. For example, I'm in a dir where I have two folders set1 and set2, each with photos in it in the format explained previously. I tried doing ffmpeg -i ./set1/%3d.jpg -i ./set2/%3d.jpg -sameq -s 1440x1080 video.mp4 but it ends up doing a video using only the first set. Is there an easy way to do this? Thanks!

  • IIS7 Serving .mp4s, not playable on iOS devices.

    I've added the proper MIME type to the server, made sure it applies to not only the specific site but even the all of server's sites. The file is accessible and playable in my browser (Chrome) but when trying to pull it up on an iPhone , the debug mode warns me that the "movie could not be played" but on iPad it's "byte_range_error_message" I'm really at a loss here of why iOS devices won't load the video up. I know it's not the video files themselves because I had used the same file on a different server (on a shared hosting package). Any help is appreciated! -Dan
