    On synaptic selected my old kernel to uninstall: linux-generic linux-headers-3.2.0-31-generic linux-image-3.2.0-31-generic linux-image-3.2.0-33-generic linux-image-generic But if i select to uninstall linux-headers-3.2.0-33-generic it select my display drivers and after that wanna install pae kernel. It's possible delete header files without loosing my video drivers and without installing pae kernel ?

    Hi! I want to use my old (1GHz) PC as webcam video stream server (like you can see those road cameras). I thought of using VLC and already tried using http output but it was not really good. Too cpu hungry, too big stream (kBps), not stable... I been reading VLC how-to's but thre is still a question. Which output should I use? Http, RTSP, UDP? I want to make for more than one computer at the same time (multicast). Which codec should be good? PC is not so fast so it shouldn't be too cpu hungry codec. Mpeg2, mpeg4, xvid? how much video buffer should I use (vb=?)? What about setting IP and ports? So I need some help with ideas, but if someone can make a VLC command line it's even better :) Oh, computer has direct internet connection and own IP.

  • Ubuntu 12.04 video issue on Dell Inspiron 1100

    I have an old clunker - Dell Inspiron 1100 with A32 BIOS. I managed to install correctly from a USB drive, and the screen showed graphics in full natice 1024 x 768 - as did the 'try from USB' Ubuntu option. Once I committed to a full install on the HDD, the video resolution comes up as 640 x 480 with no other resolutions to change to full screen. Does anyone have some advice to allow the full LCD panel to be used? Thanks for reading Ed

When I minimize any application windows in my Ubuntu 12.04 the outline of the window remains on the screen and even it does not give me option to resize the doc at the left hand side. Please help me out I have installed mesa-utils and updated the system Even did the grub settings with nomodeset but do not know the grub settings Intel HD graphics Family (Sandybridge).

    I am finally learning to set up an IIS server (personal use only) and I thought it would be cool to have some videos on it for me to watch when I am away from home. Since I'm usually on 3G (iPhone) or work wifi, I'd like to convert them to an optimal format that will stream fast. The video files are mostly avi and mp4 (from 30 minutes to 2 hours in length).   • Videos stutter in full screen

    Using Ubuntu 12.04 with Gnome 3.4.2. When I load video files (avi, mkv, mp4), they play smoothly in windowed mode, but when in full screen, they mildly (but noticeably) stutter. I've tried various players (from VLC to SMplayer2), with many different output drivers and it's always the same. Also, my video card is AMD Radeon HD 6450, and I've had no luck with the proprietary FGLRX drivers. Every time I install them, my system becomes very sluggish (window dragging animations become choppy etc.). Thanks in advance, guys.

  • Display errors using VMWare Player and Remote Desktop on Windows XP

    I've come up against a weird display issue that I can't seem to find any "fix" for. When I first boot up my computer, everything behaves normally. If I start to use VMWare Player and/or Remote Desktop, my desktop starts having some odd video issues. The frames for some windows aren't drawn at all, if I move windows around rapidly, the area under where the window used to be isn't cleared (still shows artifacts of the content of the window), etc. In some cases, the minimize / restore / maximize buttons aren't drawn (but are click-able if you can guess where they are). I've tried the usual stuff - current drivers all around, using a single monitor, etc.. none of it seems to have any bearing. If I try to disable hardware acceleration, it tends to crash the computer. As I said earlier, it's running Windows XP, dual monitors, an NVidia en8400GS video card, asus p7p55d motherboard. Not sure what other pertinent details are needed. I would appreciate any help or suggestions!

    Hi. I am having a problem. I embed WMP in my page, and I need to hide buttons from player. I make it to hide them in IE and FF, but I can't make it happen in Google Chrome. The cue points are not being created dynamically, they are in the FLV video.
