  Nothing about how to implement ads via admob into an application or anything. I'm just new to ads and it's pretty confusing to get a good grasp on how it works. I've been wanting to put out an app with ads in it but have been reading you need to initially pay at least $50 to get started? I thought it was free to ad whatever ads to display on YOUR app. Or is the $ for adding your own advertising on OTHER people's apps? I'm so confused. Someone please enlighten me, thanks!

• Non-Latin characters in URLs - is it better to encode them or replace with their Latin "counterparts

  We're implementing a blog for a site which supports six different languages and five of them have non-Latin characters in their alphabets. We are not sure whether we should have them encoded (that is what we're doing at the moment) Létání s potravinami: Co je dovoleno? becomes l%c3%a9t%c3%a1n%c3%ad-s-potravinami-co-je-dovoleno and the browser displays it as létání-s-potravinami-co-je-dovoleno. or if we should replace them with their Latin "counterparts" (similar looking letters) Létání s potravinami: Co je dovoleno? becomes letani-s-potravinami-co-je-dovoleno. I can't find a definitive answer as to what's better from SEO perspective? Search engine optimization is very important for us. Which approach would you suggest?

• Netbeans or Eclipse for C++?

  I'm currently working on a pet project and need to do C++ development on Windows, Mac, Linux, and Solaris, and I've narrowed it down to Netbeans and Eclipse, so I was wonderig which is more solid as a C++ editor. I just need solid editing, good autocompletion for templated code ad external libraries, and project file management, the build tools are external, so thats irrelevant here, for my comparison. Thus which is a better choice? Note: I know I should be using emacs or vim, but the issue is, my theory at least, that I'm left handed, so I use my right side (design,creativity) of the brain more than the left side (logic, memory), so I just simply cannot use emacs or vim, my brain simply isn't compatible, I tried them many times too, even used emacs for a few months but it drove me crazy... • Passing along variable inside link works only on first word in multiple-word-variables, why?

  I have this code below. As you can see I am passing two variables along with the link. The second variabye (category) works whenever it consists of one word, but some categories are two words or more, and then on the receiving php page where I fetch the variable only the first word is fetched. Any ideas? Example: I pass along this: Rims & Tires Only this comes through: Rims $display_table .= "<a href='../ad.php?ad_id=$row[ad_id]&category=$row[category]' target='_parent'>"; Here is how I fetch it in the receiving php file (which the link is to): $cat = $_GET['category']; echo $cat; //displays only first word of multiple word categories. • Why does XCode keep downloading old deleted profiles and duplicates of the same profile?

  If I refresh the profiles in XCode it: a) Pulls down ones that no longer exist. Profiles that have been deleted from the portal and are no longer there b) Pulls down multiple copies of the same profile. If I add a new device and then update the profiles to include that new device. Then XCode will pull down the new updated profile but also the same profile with an older date (even though the portal only shows one, the latest). If I delete them them XCode they re-appear. I'm having problems getting push notifications to work with an ad-hoc distrubtion and so want to ensure I am build with the latest profiles. This behaviour of XCode is irritating at least, and possibly the source of my problems at worst.

• FileSystemWatcher surpassing Active Directory restrictions

  While experimenting with FileSystemWatcher, I've found out that it somehow surpasses Active Directory's restrictions to files and folders, and will raise change events with information about what has changed in files and folders that you don't even have access to. I have two questions about that: 1) Why does this happen ? 2) Is this a problem in the AD configuration ? how do I fix it ? 3) Is there any way to gather these files, or even create a FileSystemInfo of them to get more info about the files (not only the changes made on them) ? As far as I've tried, only the FileSystemWatcher immune to the restrictions, I can't run any other thing over it, here's a list of what I've tried: File.Exists Directory.Exists FileInfo instance on found files DirectoryInfo instance on found files File.Copy File.Delete

• Help with WinAPI scroll bars

  Right now I have a window with horizontal ad vertical scrollbars. I use these parameters to initialize it. //Set OGL Frame scroll bar SCROLLINFO inf; inf.cbSize = sizeof(SCROLLINFO); inf.fMask = SIF_PAGE | SIF_POS; inf.nPage = 20; inf.nPos = 30; It creates them in the center and I like their size, but when I scroll I multiply by 50 which creates chopiness. How could I add more resolution to the bars and still keep the same thumb size. Is there a way I can calculate the size and position of the bar based on the above parameters? Thanks

• Android: Prompt user to save changes when Back button is pressed

  I have an activity that contains several user editable items (an EditText field, RatingBar, etc). I'd like to prompt the user if the back/home button is pressed and changes have been made that have not yet been saved. After reading through the android documentation, it seems like this piece of code should go in the onPause method. I've tried putting an AlertDialog in the onPause however the dialog gets shown and then immediately tears down because nothing is there to block the pause from completing. • Which of the two ways should I use to insert tags into mysql?

  For each ad, I allow users to choose up to 5 tags. Right now, in my database, I have it like... Posting_id TagID 5 1 5 2 5 3 6 5 6 1 But i was thinking if I should make it like... Posting_id TagID 5 1 2 3 6 5 1 Then first option is much easier to insert and retrieve data. But if I have 100 posts with 3 tags each, that's 300 rows...so ALOT more rows The second option requires using explode() impode(), etc but it is much cleaner. Which option should I do and why? thanks!

  I have several locations in tables in a mysql database which i want to have displayed as POI's, the table is too large and changes too frequently to use sql lite so i need to get the info from mysql. I have set up a mapView indicating the device location in mapview using an image at drawable, but i now need to ad the other locations from the database. Then when a user clicks on an item i need a popup with options to route there using google maps navigation, or view mobi site, phone, or email. I am new to android. Please assist. Have gone through the overlay tut but no indication on how to get the info from db. Is there a tut somwhere so i can see some example code to do this?

  We have multiple websites under different domains that need to receive our banner ads. We have a server app, in PHP, that returns the HTML for a randomly-generated banner ad. Out of concern for the client side, I don't want to use an iframe nor do I want to include the jquery library because of the weight - I also do not want to duplicate code across all the domains. Any other way to do this? Maybe there is a way to do this with mod rewrite or a web service? Anyone solve a similar problem? Thanks

  Hi,My process have done on before, 1) I developing an application for apple iphone an generating .app file using Ad-Hoc build. 2) My iphone os is 3.1.2 and i developing .ipa file simply drag-and-drop my .app file into iTunes on apple leopard 10.5.8 version. 3) After that this .ipa file again drag-and-drop in windowsXP iTunes. 4) Then sync iphone to iTunes of windowsXP and that .ipa file from iTunes(WindowsXP) in my iphone having version 3.1.2 . The above process i have done, it will fine worked on 3.1.2 but it not working and installing on iphone device 3.1.3 version. How i troubleshoot the above problem.

  Is it possible? I have tried to move it, but iframe contents dissapear. Tried to get contents of iframe and place them in the new place but all handlers ofc dissapear. Tried to do the same, but with new jQuery 1.4.2 feature, that clones all events along with it. But it doesn't work :) So I have decided to ask here for help. For example, someone is browsing around your websites saving various items as favourites. He's not logged in, so they're saved to an anonymous user's data. Then he logs in, and we need to merge all that data into their (possibly existing) user data. Is this done different ways in an ad-hoc fashion for different applications? • Database migration

  We are migrating a client's own database schema to our own (both SQL-Server). Most of the mappings from their schema to ours have been indentified and rules been agreed on if the columns don't exactly align (default values etc.) Previously, depending on who was assigned the task, this has been done either with a mixture of sql scripts or one-off vb apps. I was thinking there must be a application (commercial or otherwise) where you can assign these mappings/rules and have it stream the data across. Surely the setting up and configuration of this tool would be less than the creation of ad-hoc scripts... Is there an app? Apart from the obvious 'be careful' any tips to mitigate the stress of a non-DBA porting one schema to another?

  I have created a VBScript which pulls the service tag, username, and computer name from a computer. What I need to do now is compile this information in a text document. How it's set up is as follows: We have an Active Directory Server, with a folder for login scripts. I have created a batch file to run this .vbs script, and the script works well so far. What I now need is for a file on the AD server, called "logging.txt", to be populated with the information that is created with the .vbs script.   Okay, for all my coding so far I been using GETs and only $_POST on the same script. Ex: profile.php would show all the posts an user made and under each of their post, they can edit their post. • SharePoint Returning a 401.1 for a Specific User/Computer

  We have a SharePoint Services 3.0 site set up supporting about 300 users right now. This report is isolated and has never been duplicated. We have one AD user who cannot log into the SharePoint site with his account from his machine and is subsequently returned a 401.1 error. If any other user tries to log on with their account from his machine, it works okay. If he moves to another machine and logs on, it works okay. The only solution to this point has been to install FireFox on the machine. When he authenticates with FF, everything is okay. Remedies tried so far: Cleared cookies/cache Turned off/on Integrated Windows Authentication in IE Downgraded IE 8 to IE 6 Removed site from Intranet Sites zone Renamed the machine Disjoined/Rejoined Domain

• Sharepoint Web performance optimization

  We are running on SSL on following server topology: 1 ISA (SSL Terminate/cache/proxy+AD authentication) 1 Sharepoint 1 IBM DB2 Database as enterprise/corporate DB 1 MS SQL Server as local DB We have recently optimized the caching, compression, minification, and other ASP.net best practices such as viewstate and cookie sizes, minimizing round trips, parallel connections/domain sharding and a lot more.... Now we are not convinced that the we are in an optimized position as the network resources i.e. bandwidth and especially latency are out of our control!! The client/browser to server/sharepoint is trans-Atlantic i.e. (ASIA, USA, EUROPE). As of my understanding the only ways to improve the network (latency) are: - TCP/SSL optimization - hardware/software? - CDNs - cloud or our own ? • Which SharePoint Authentication Mode Should I be using for this scenario?

  I currently have a sharepoint 2010 site for which NTLM windows authentication has been enabled (by default it is against Active Directory I believe). I'd need to change this so that I have 1 custom login page which accepts username/password/domain and validates those information against the active directory, then if that was valid, I'll write logic to logon to another webservice which is located on another server and returns me a unique sessionId that I can store (as a cookie) for further use. Please could you advise which authentication mode I can use to create this custom login page? should that be FBA against AD? not sure how that works. Thanks in advance.

• Hide Adsense on localhost

  I have a site built in Ruby On Rails which has many ads in different templates and views. It is hard to actualy remove each ad between tests and deployments. I don't know whether Google approves many impressions (even if without clicks) on localhost. How do you deal with this issue? Maybe it is a good solution to set a variable/constant available everywere to enable/disable ads easily. Do you think it is a good solution? If so, how do I declare a global variable for views?
