Symfony 1.4 filter on index page

I'm trying to apply a filter to the index page of my module, the code works as I've tested it on another page called filter within the same module. The problem I'm having is that on submitting the filter on the index page (form action points to index) Symfony instead decides to route to the create action for some reason. Although the create method isn't visible in the URL a new form is instantiated on the index page which leads me to suspect it is routing to the create action: http://locahost.com/frontend_dev.php/mymodule Any ideas how I can get a filter to work on the index page?

How to run lengthy tasks from an ASP.NET page?

I've got an ASP.NET page with a simple form. The user fills out the form with some details, uploads a document, and some processing of the file then needs to happens on the server side. My question is - what's the best approach to handling the server side processing of the files? The processing involves calling an exe. Should I use seperate threads for this? Ideally I want the user to submit the form without the web page just hanging there while the processing takes place. How to refactor this Ruby on Rails code?

I want to fetch posts based on their status, so I have this code inside my PostsController index action. It seems to be cluttering the index action, though, and I'm not sure it belongs here. Why does this symfony code not work?

I am trying to pass parameters from one action (foo) to another (foobar). In action foo, I set the arguments thus: $request->getParameterHolder()->set('arg1', 'alice'); $request->getParameterHolder()->set('arg2', 'bob'); In action foobar, I try to retrieve the params thus: $arg1 = $request->getParameter('arg1'); $arg2 = $request->getParameter('arg2'); $this->forward404Unless($arg1 && $arg2); //always forwarded Note: I am aware that I can save the params into the user session variable - but I dont want to do that. I want to pass them as parameters - any ideas how to get this to work?

Hi, In my web application, I use strust2 url tag to pass parameters like id etc., For example, I use a link to delete an entity and I use param to pass the id of the entity to be deleted. And I follow this throughout my web app for adding, editing, deleting an entity. During run time, sometimes, I don't get the params to be stored in my action's bean properties. When I see the link that is generated, I get something like <a href='/projit1/p/discuss/viewDiscussion.action?d=11&amp;amp;projid=11&amp;disid=4'> What are these amps for ? why do they sit in between the action calls (made by link via url tag actions ) ? By the time I traverse back and forth in my web app, I get 10s and 20s of amp sitting in the request URL. What is the problem here ? Please help.

How can I launch an application as Administrator after a WiX MSI has completed?

Hi there I want to launch an application with admin rights after I have completed an installation using a WiX based MSI. I can launch the application just fine, on XP but with Windows 7, it's an issue. The application has a manifest embedded in it that says it should run as administrator and I've changed the impersonate attribute in the Custom Action to "no". I can't change the execute attribute to deferred, as this only works before the InstallFinalize action and I need it after the user has clicked Finish in the MSI. This is my Custom Action: <CustomAction Id="LaunchApp" FileKey="App" ExeCommand="[Command Line Args]" Execute="immediate" Impersonate="no" Return="asyncNoWait" /> Any help on this would be appreciated. In which controller do you put the CRUD for the child part of a relationship?

I am using ASP.Net MVC but this probably applies to all MVC patterns in general. My problem, for example I have companies and in each company I have a list of contacts. When I have selected a company I can see its details and a list of the contacts for that company. When I want to add a new contact for that company, should the implementation of that action go into the company controller as an "AddContact" action or should it go into the contact controller into a "New" action and we pass the Company ID in the URL? What is the usual way of dealing with this sort of thing in ASP.Net MVC? Is there a better stategy?

I have a controller action that is accepting sensitive data. public ActionResult TakeSensitiveData(SensitiveData data){ data.SaveSomewhere(); } To ensure the data is secure I want to be certain requests are made using HTTPS (SSLv3, TLS 1). One of the approaches I've considered using was the RequireHttpsAttribute on my action: [RequireHttps] public ActionResult TakeSensitiveData(SensitiveData data){ data.SaveSomewhere(); } However, upon testing this I fiddler revealed that an HTTP request made to the action is 302 redirected to HTTPS. My question is this: If I've made a request that is 302 redirected to HTTPS haven't I already sent the sensitive data over HTTP before the redirect?

I currently have a form like this: <% form_for @stem, :html => {:multipart => true} do |f| %> <%= f.file_field :sound %> <% end %> This outputs (essentially): <form method="post" id="new_stem" class="new_stem" action="/stems"> <input type="file" size="30" name="stem[sound]" id="stem_sound"> </form> However I'm planning to use jQuery's ajaxForm plugin here and would like the new stem to be returned in JSON format. I know if the form's action was "/stems.json" this would work, but is there a parameter I can put into the form_for call to ask it to return JSON? I tried doing <% form_for @stem, :html => {:multipart => true, :action => '/stems.json'} do |f| %> but this didn't appear to work.

ASP.net MVC support for URL's with hyphens

Is there an easy way to get the MvcRouteHandler to convert all hyphens in the action and controller sections of an incoming URL to underscores as hyphens are not supported in method or class names. This would be so that I could support such structures as sample.com/test-page/edit-details mapping to Action edit_details and Controller test_pagecontroller while continuing to use MapRoute method. I understand I can specify an action name attribute and support hyphens in controller names which out manually adding routes to achieve this however I am looking for an automated way so save errors when adding new controllers and actions.

Running MS SQL 2008, and I am definitely a new SQL user. I have a table that has 4 columns: EmpNum, User, Action, Updatetime A user logs into, and out of a system, it is registered in the database. For example, if user1 logs into the system, then out 5 minutes later, a simple query (select * from update) would look like: EmpNum User Action Updatetime 1 User1 I 2010-01-01 23:00:00:000 1 User1 O 2010-01-01 23:05:00:000 I'm trying to query the Empnum, User, Action, I(in time), O(out time), and the total time. Any help or a point in the right direction, and I would be eternally grateful. :)

Loading HTML5 video on iPad via onclick event tied to a div

I'm developing an HTML5 application (a game), that automatically preloads 5 video files. I'm able to do so correctly on Safari for PC, so there are no overlooked problems with file formats, codecs or such. The load fails on an iPad. As an official guide for video on iOS puts it: This means the JavaScript play() and load() methods are also inactive until the user initiates playback, unless the play() or load() method is triggered by user action. In other words, a user-initiated Play button works, but an onLoad="play()" event does not. Does this mean, that I have no means to initiate the loading of video after a user initiated action, if that action hasn't been tied to a video element (user clicked on a regular div — I request loading and displaying of a video, compared to the user actually clicking on a video element to load and play that particular element)? Zend router problem

Hi, folks. I have some problems with zend routes I have shops controller. It has 3 actions(for now): index - lists all of shops using paginator(so I have /shops/?page=2) show - shows concrete shop (show/Apple+store) search - shows search form So now I need to make routing for that. I have followin routes 'shop', new Zend_Controller_Router_Route ('/shops/:title',array('controller' = 'shops', 'action' = 'show'),array('title' = '/^(?!search$).+$/')) 'search_shops',new Zend_Controller_Router_Route_Static ('/shop/search',array('controller' = 'shops', 'action' = 'show')) but when i try to go /shops/Apple+store it says, that there is no Apple store action. If I ommit regexp part on shop route, I can't go to search. What am I doing wrong?

How do I keep subdomain.domain.com links from mapping to subdomain.domain.com/subdomain?

I have a virtual directory created and a sub domain that points to that virtual directory. My links always route to subdomain.domain.com/subdomain/controller/action when they can leave off the subdomain link. Is there an easy way to stop that? Also, it's the same problem when I mapped anotherdomain.com to my virtual directory. It ends up linking to anotherdomain.com/virtualdir/controller/action. It just looks unprofessional to me to have all my links be myapp.com/myapp/action/controller.
