    Hello everybody I have a user entity who contains a one to many relationship with a role entity So with this linq expression : from user in USER_TABLE.Include("USERROLE_TABLE") order by user.Name select user I can get users with related roles as a child. My problem is that i want to get roles of each user ordered alphabetically. How can i do that ? I googled a lot and don't find anything Thank's by advance !

  • Capture Stored Procedure print output in .NET (Different model!)

    Basically, this question with a difference... Is it possible to capture print output from a TSQL stored procedure in .NET, using the Entity Framework? The solution in the other question doesn't work for me. It works with the connection type from System.Data.SqlClient but I'm using the one from System.Data.EntityClient which does not have an InfoMessage event. (Of course, I could just create an SQL connection based on the Entity connection settings, but prefer to do it directly.)

    i wonder how i could store a xml structure in a persistence layer. cause the relational data looks like: <entity id="1000070"> <name>apple</name> <entities> <entity id="7002870"> <name>mac</name> <entities> <entity id="7002907"> <name>leopard</name> <entities> <entity id="7024080"> <name>safari</name> </entity> <entity id="7024701"> <name>finder</name> </entity> </entities> </entity> </entities> </entity> <entity id="7024080"> <name>iphone</name> <entities> <entity id="7024080"> <name>3g</name> </entity> <entity id="7024701"> <name>3gs</name> </entity> </entities> </entity> <entity id="7024080"> <name>ipad</name> </entity> </entities> </entity> as you can see, it has no static structure but a dynamical one. mac got 2 descendant levels while iphone got 1 and ipad got 0. i wonder how i could store this data the best way? what are my options. cause it seems impossible to store it in a mysql database due to this dynamical structure. is the only way to store it as a xml file then? is the speed of getting information (xpath/xquery/simplexml) from a xml file worse or greater than from mysql? what are the pros and cons? do i have other options? is storing information in xml files, suited for a lot of users accessing it at the same time? would be great with feedbacks!! thanks!

    Hi, I have a SSIS package used the protection level as "DontSaveSensitive" So initially i have saved the oledb connection manager password as in a XML config file.And this worked fine for me. Now for business requiremnt i have stored the configuration in sql server. Including password. Initially it worked fine.But suddenly connection manager is not taking password from sqlDB. If i set an environment variable for the "password" it's working. My question is. 1) what is the solution for this.( i can only save the configurations in sql) 2) initially how it worked.I mean initailly from sql server the password was taking. Please give some clue.I am doing a lot of trial and error. Thanks SNA

  • TFS Build Configuration Vs Test Manager

    Hi, I have been tasked with setting up TFS 2010 for my company. After setting up TFS and configuring the basics (New collection, project, adding solution to souce control), i thought i would try out some unit testing with it. I configured the Build Controller and Agent for my solution and added in some basic unit tests. These ran ok and did exactly what i would expect (i broke the build then ran the Build Definition, and it showed me where the errors were). My question is, what advantages (apart from the "Black box call stack logger") does Test Manager have over the TFS builds? Is it worth the extra effort of setting that up and configuring it? Only knowing the basics of what Test Manager is, that may be a very naive question to ask, and i appoligise if it is. Thanks

  • Joomla 1.5 Media Manager sets incorrect file permissions when uploading

    Howdy all, I have a Joomla 1.5 installation running on Windows Server 2008, installed via the Web Platform Installer. When uploading images with the media manager (native uploader, not the flash bulk uploader), the files arrive on the server correctly, but are given incorrect permissions. Specifically, the IIS_IUSRS group is not given access to the file. I might be incorrect about what group/user is SUPPOSED to get access to the files, but so far, I've found that unless I give IIS_IUSRS access to the uploaded files, they won't appear on the site or in the media manager (appear as broken images). Once I give IIS_IUSRS permission to the files, they work fine. So far, all the research I've done has led me to linux specific fixes that involve either changing the umask on the server, or directly modifying the Joomla codebase to add an appropriate chmod command to the upload process, but I really don't want to modify Joomla directly. I have to believe there's a setting here somewhere that will do the job, either on the Joomla or Windows side of the equation. Any thoughts? Scott

SmartPaster2010.AddIn, SmartPaster2010.dll, SmartPaster2010.xml Edit: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/19dax6cz.aspx says: "To install the add-in on another computer, the .addin file must be placed in a location where Visual Studio checks for add-ins. These locations are listed in the Options dialog box, in the Environment node, on the Add-in/Macros Security page." I went to Tools Options Environment Add-In/Macro Security, checked some paths put the AddIn files in a couple of these directoryies, restart VS2010 but still no luck!

  • Branchless memory manager?

    Anyone thought about how to write a memory manager (in C++) that is completely branch free? I've written a pool, a stack, a queue, and a linked list (allocating from the pool), but I am wondering how plausible it is to write a branch free general memory manager. This is all to help make a really reusable framework for doing solid concurrent, in-order CPU, and cache friendly development. Edit: by branchless I mean without doing direct or indirect function calls, and without using ifs. I've been thinking that I can probably implement something that first changes the requested size to zero for false calls, but haven't really got much more than that. I feel that it's not impossible, but the other aspect of this exercise is then profiling it on said "unfriendly" processors to see if it's worth trying as hard as this to avoid branching.

  • Java OO design confusion: how to handle actions modified by states modified by actions...

    Hi folks, Given an entity, whose action is potentially modified by states (of the entity and other entities) in turn potentially modified by other actions (of the entity and other entities) , what is the best way to code or design to handle the potential existence of the modifiers? Speaking metaphorically, I am coding a Java application representing a piano. As you know a piano has keys (which, when pressed, emit sound) and pedals (which, when pressed, modify the keys' sounds). My base class structure is as follows: Entity (for keys and pedals) State (this holds each entity's states, e.g. name such as "soft pedal", and boolean "Pressed"), Action (this holds each entity's actions, e.g. play sound when pressed, or modify others sounds). By composition, the Entity class has a copy of each of State and Action inside it. e.g.: public class Entity { State entityState = new State(); Action entityAction = new Action(); Thus I have coded a "C-Sharp" key Entity. When I "press" that entity (set its "Pressed" state to true), its action plays a "C-Sharp" sound and then sets its "Pressed" state to false. At the same time, if the "C-Sharp" key entity is not "tuned", its sound deviates from "C-Sharp". Meanwhile I have coded a "soft pedal" Entity. When that entity is "pressed", no sound plays but its action is to make softer the sound of the "C-Sharp" and other key entities. I have also coded a "sustain pedal" Entity. When that entity is "pressed", no sound plays but its action is to enable reverberation of the sound of the "C-Sharp" and other key entities. Both the "soft" and "sustain pedals" can be pressed at the same time with the result that keys entities become both softened and reverberating. In short, I do not understand how to make this simultaneous series of states and actions modify each other in a sensible OO way. I am wary of coding a massive series of "if" statements or "switches". How can I rewrite this so it's something like this instead: public void Save<T>(T entity) { TransactionWrapper(Session.Save(entity)); } public void Create<T>(T entity) { TransactionWrapper(Session.Create(entity)); } public void Save<T>(T entity) { TransactionWrapper(Session.Save(entity)); } So in other words, I pass a method call as a parameter, and the TransactionWrapper method wraps a transaction around the method call.

    Hi, I want to code sth. that basically works like TiVo. Switch it on, you only see the menu or an output, so no underlying OS or anything else is directly visible to the user. So I want to use Linux as base. Can you suggest a good base distribution? Can I code a frontend without having a window-manager up and running? If yes, is that possible with java-gnome or what language/gui-framework combination would you suggest? If no, what's the minimal window manager that can handle fancy menus, etc? What does it take to create video-overlays over a HD-stream? Are there some libraries I should take a look at? Thanks

  • Implementing a generic repository for WCF data services

    The repository implementation I am going to discuss here is not exactly what someone would call repository in terms of DDD, but it is an abstraction layer that becomes handy at the moment of unit testing the code around this repository. In other words, you can easily create a mock to replace the real repository implementation. The WCF Data Services update for .NET 3.5 introduced a nice feature to support two way data bindings, which is very helpful for developing WPF or Silverlight based application but also for implementing the repository I am going to talk about. As part of this feature, the WCF Data Services Client library introduced a new collection DataServiceCollection<T> that implements INotifyPropertyChanged to notify the data context (DataServiceContext) about any change in the association links. This means that it is not longer necessary to manually set or remove the links in the data context when an item is added or removed from a collection. Before having this new collection, you basically used the following code to add a new item to a collection. Order order = new Order {   Name = "Foo" }; OrderItem item = new OrderItem {   Name = "bar",   UnitPrice = 10,   Qty = 1 }; var context = new OrderContext(); context.AddToOrders(order); context.AddToOrderItems(item); context.SetLink(item, "Order", order); context.SaveChanges(); Now, thanks to this new collection, everything is much simpler and similar to what you have in other ORMs like Entity Framework or L2S. Order order = new Order {   Name = "Foo" }; OrderItem item = new OrderItem {   Name = "bar",   UnitPrice = 10,   Qty = 1 }; order.Items.Add(item); var context = new OrderContext(); context.AddToOrders(order); context.SaveChanges(); In order to use this new feature, you first need to enable V2 in the data service, and then use some specific arguments in the datasvcutil tool (You can find more information about this new feature and how to use it in this post). DataSvcUtil /uri:"http://localhost:3655/MyDataService.svc/" /out:Reference.cs /dataservicecollection /version:2.0 Once you use those two arguments, the generated proxy classes will use DataServiceCollection<T> rather than a simple ObjectCollection<T>, which was the default collection in V1. There are some aspects that you need to know to use this feature correctly. 1. All the entities retrieved directly from the data context with a query track the changes and report those to the data context automatically. 2. A entity created with “new” does not track any change in the properties or associations. In order to enable change tracking in this entity, you need to do the following trick. public Order CreateOrder() {   var collection = new DataServiceCollection<Order>(this.context);   var order = new Order();   collection.Add(order);   return order; } You basically need to create a collection, and add the entity to that collection with the “Add” method to enable change tracking on that entity. 3. If you need to attach an existing entity (For example, if you created the entity with the “new” operator rather than retrieving it from the data context with a query) to a data context for tracking changes, you can use the “Load” method in the DataServiceCollection. var order = new Order {   Id = 1 }; var collection = new DataServiceCollection<Order>(this.context); collection.Load(order); In this case, the order with Id = 1 must exist on the data source exposed by the Data service. Otherwise, you will get an error because the entity did not exist. These cool extensions methods discussed by Stuart Leeks in this post to replace all the magic strings in the “Expand” operation with Expression Trees represent another feature I am going to use to implement this generic repository. Thanks to these extension methods, you could replace the following query with magic strings by a piece of code that only uses expressions. Magic strings, var customers = dataContext.Customers .Expand("Orders")         .Expand("Orders/Items") Expressions, var customers = dataContext.Customers .Expand(c => c.Orders.SubExpand(o => o.Items)) That query basically returns all the customers with their orders and order items. Ok, now that we have the automatic change tracking support and the expression support for explicitly loading entity associations, we are ready to create the repository.   • Pluscom MAC address shows up but "wireless unavailable"

    I've got a pluscom pci card plugged into my desktop and although the mac address shows up in network manager, it says "Wireless unavailable".   • How do I get a rt2800usb wireless device working?

    My brand new desktop running 13.04 has endless problems with wireless. Dozens of others are flooding forums with reports of the same problems. It worked fine for a few days, then there were a few days where it started having problems sometimes and working sometimes. Now it never works at all. I have 5+ devices all able to connect without any trouble at all, including iPhone, Android phone, 3DS, multiple game consoles, a laptop running windows 7, and even a second desktop machine running Ubuntu 12.04 sitting right behind the 13.04 machine. All other devices have full wireless bars displayed (strong signals). At any moment, one of the following is happening, and it changes randomly: Trying to connect forever, but never establishing a connection. Wireless icon constantly animating. Finds no wireless networks at all. (There are 12+ in range according to other devices.) Will not try to connect to the network. If I use the icon to connect, it will display "Disconnected" within a few seconds. Will continuously ask for the network password. Typing it in correctly does not help. Wireless is working fine. This happens sometimes. It can work for days at a time, or only 10 mins at a time. Various things that usually do nothing but sometimes fix the problem: Reboot. This has the best chance of helping, but it usually takes 5+ times. Disable/re-enable Wi-Fi using the wireless icon. Disable/re-enable Networking using the wireless icon. Use the icon to try and connect to a network (if found). Use the icon to open Edit Connections and delete my connection info, causing it to be recreated (once it's actually found again). Various things that seem to make no difference: Changing between using Linux headers in grub at bootup, between 3.10.0, 3.9.0, or 3.8.0. Move the wireless router very close to the desktop. Running sudo rfkill unblock all (I dunno what this is supposed to do.) I've used Ubuntu for 6 years and I've never had a problem with networking. Now I'm spending all my time reading through endless problem reports and trying all the answers. None of them have helped. I am doing this instead of getting work done, which is defeating the whole purpose of using Ubuntu. It's heartbreaking to be honest. Please note that this is a desktop machine. I'm assuming power management is primarily for laptops, but the iwconfig does state that power management is on, so who knows. The recommended router changes I did not do, since the current router settings are (I think) required for some of the older devices I have, and because the current settings work on all my modern devices including Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows 7. I do appreciate the advice though, and I'll look into it when I have time. Anything else to try? Update #2 I booted into Ubuntu 12.04.3 from a dvd, and the same problems exist. I have a separate old desktop machine with 12.04 installed that has no wireless problems at all. So obviously the problem is wireless hardware compatibility in both 12.04.03 LTS and 13.04. Update #3 The same problems exist even when using a wired connection. I plugged an ethernet cable directly to the router and the network manager added an "Auto Ethernet" entry, but it cannot establish a connection to it. So the problem is not specific to wireless. Meanwhile, I purchased a Trendnet N300 wireless USB adapter, TEW-664UB. I plugged it in, but I have no idea how to get Ubuntu to try and use it. Can anyone tell me how? Can I download a package on another computer and copy the .deb over to do an install, etc? I'm installing windows 7 to double check that the internet connection works there and it's not just some magically faulty hardware. Thanks for your help.

  • Kubuntu 12.04 - DNS Issues

    Starting yesterday (6/11/12), I've been having many network problems. When requesting a page in chrome, the page hangs on "Sending request" and then will eventually timeout. I'm within a VPN that has it's own DNS server. I've tried to manually set my DNS through the Network-Manager applet and by editing /etc/network/interfaces. Having no luck I unlinked the resolv.conf file and dumped the contents of my old resolv.conf into it. Again having no luck, I deactivated the dnsmasq server in /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf by commenting out the dns=dnsmasq. $ cat NetworkManager.conf [main] plugins=ifupdown,keyfile #dns=dnsmasq no-auto-default=D0:67:E5:EA:B6:6B, [ifupdown] managed=false $ nm-tool NetworkManager Tool State: connected (global) - Device: eth0 [Wired connection 1] ------------------------------------------- Type: Wired Driver: tg3 State: connected Default: yes HW Address: D0:67:E5:EA:B6:6B Capabilities: Carrier Detect: yes Speed: 1000 Mb/s Wired Properties Carrier: on IPv4 Settings: Address: 192.168.254.122 Prefix: 24 (255.255.255.0) Gateway: 192.168.254.2 DNS: 192.168.254.1 What is strange is that the network will work fine for a few minutes then start to timeout. At this point, I would usually blame the DNS Server, especially since when I change to Google's DNS server things work. But, I need to use our internal DNS to hit our internal sites. Nobody else is having issues and they are all using DHCP. This group includes one user who is using 11.04. At this point, I'm at a loss for what to do, so any help would be appreciated.

  • Ubuntu 12.04 suddenly will not boot after compiz crash on lockscreen

    Yesterday i went to work and closed my laptop. When i got home I couldn't get the lock screen to come back up. ctrl+alt+f2 to get to a terminal and Tried to kill compiz, compiz was not running so I tried to restart it got an error opening the display so i tried to restart lightdm again couldn't open display. so I restarted and now I am stuck on the loading screen. I tried booting in recovery mode and all options hang except root, but i'm stuck with read only. booting from a live cd I can mount the drive but again stuck with read only. I'm completely stuck here. checking my default-display-manager returns "/usr/sbin/elsa" as the only line and can't edit it. I've got an 11.10 live cd and my /home is encrypted so i can't try to back anything up at the moment either. How can i resolve this or at the least back up some of my data? Please help!

  • Why does Ubuntu keep trying to connect to a WiFi network while plugged into an ethernet

    My desk is situated at the edge of the range of a wireless signal which I use occasionally (when away from my desk) and is therefore saved in network manager. At my desk, however, I plug into the ethernet cable. While I'm working the computer is constantly trying to join the wireless network and usually failing this results in two annoying behaviors. 1: In gnome shell the network connect and disconnect notices keep popping up at the bottom of the screen and I have to click them to make them disappear (I assume it's been fixed in the next version of gnome). 2: (the worst!) Occasionally the wifi password dialog will pop up and ask for the password to this network (which is already saved). An additionally annoyance is that in gnome shell I'll get two copies of the dialog that I have to cancel, one is gnome shell themed (no window border etc...) and the other is just normal gnome themed. (Sometimes if I've been away from the computer for a while I will have multiple copies of this dialog up as its been trying to connect for a while resulting in at times 20 dialogs to cancel). Note, all the while I've been happily connected to the ethernet and have full network access. This is incredibly annoying and distracting, why doesn't ubuntu stop trying to connect to wifi if I'm on the ethernet (unless I want to broadcast my own network, but that's different)?
