• Javascript: Save json data as a file on the server / user's hard disk.

  I have developed an app that allows the user to fill out text fields with information. I want them to be able to press a button that will make a file with data (a really long array with info on what they typed and where it should go) so they can reload the data at a later date. I don't have a server now, and I am sending this app as a standalone html app to my friends for their use until I get hosing / mySql / etc. Is there a way that when they click on a button it will take this data (saved as an array, save_data), put it into a file, and basically begin the download process from their web-browser? And later on, what tech would I need to be looking into to save this into online user accounts?

  I'm not familiar with http stuff, but how would I be able to submit data to a website? There is a submit button that I would like to "press" from a console app. This is not my own website. • How do I draw a graduated border on a polygon using GDI+ via C#/WinForms?

  I have polygons of various shapes and sizes. They have a solid fill and currently a solid border. I would like to give the polygons a gradient on their edge to soften them. So far I've tried using a Pen with a LinearGradientBrush and whilst the effect it produces is very interesting it's most definitely not what I want ;) I've looked through the System.Drawing.Drawing2D namespace but there didn't seem to be any other classes that would be applicable for this purpose. I've had a search around and the articles that I can find are mostly about creating borders for rectangles, which are mush easier, or are irrelevant. So to summarize, does anyone have a way of drawing a gradient border in on a polygon using GDI+?

  I want to make a IE8 web slice who will show remaining amount of students "food credit". In our country we have web page where we can see ammount www.cap.srce.hr/ProvjeraSaldo.aspx. When I fill textbox with my card number i recieve remaining amount. Now, i want to speed that process with ie8 web slice. So is it possible to get data from another webserver page and than display it in my web slice on my web server. I tried to use XMLHTTP request but it can be only used on same domains. • vb.net session variable passing "space" from one page to another

  i have 2 aspx webpages with vb.net code. On the first page, I have a text box, on first page that says "Enter Hobby", but its not a required textbox. So if the user clicks submit, it'll load up the second page. Now in the second page i have textbox "hobby" which has maxlength = 10. and in the vb.net code i have hobby.text = session("hobby"). if the user doesnt fill up hobby in first page, the session comes with 10 "spaces" since maxlength is 10. I tried hobby.text = TRIM(session("hobby"), but nothing happens. Any idea how i can lose the spaces if nothing is inputted?

• last_login_at not working (null) w/ Authlogic Magic Columns...

  I am using the Authlogicgem for authentication and most of it seems to be working great. Authlogic provides several columns that you can add to your Users table (for example) that it knows to fill in if they are present. i.e. login_count, current_login_ip, last_request_at and last_login_at. All seem to be working fine with the exception of the last_login_at field which is null for each user. Is there anything specific that could be causing this perhaps having to do with the user sessions, etc? I can post code if needed but wasn't sure what would relate to this.

What method would one use to populate the drop down list? Since the data is not contained within the Model (It could be contained in the Model) should we be using Temp/View data? A HTML Helper? So I've tried this: UPDATE request SET building_id = ( SELECT bu.building_id FROM building bu INNER JOIN lot lo ON bu.lot_id=lo.lot_id WHERE lo.lot_code = request.lot_code ); But I'm getting this error: Subquery returned more than 1 value. This is not permitted when the subquery follows =, !=, <, <= , , = or when the subquery is used as an expression. Is it due to wrong syntax? The data model allows more than one building per lot but actual data doesn't contain such cases so there should be at most one building_id per lot_code.

  Hi Can somebody fill me in on JavaScript Testing Frameworks? I'm working on a project now and as the JS (Mostly jQuery) libraries grow, it's getting more and more difficult to introduce change or refactor, because I have no way of guaranteeing the accuracy of the code without manually testing everything. I don't really know anything about JavaScript Testing Frameworks, or how they integrate/operate in a .Net project, so I thought I'd ask here. What would a good testing framework be for .Net? What does a JavaScript test look like? (e.g. with NUnit, I have [TestFixture] classes & [Test] methods in a ProjectTests assembly) How do I run a javascript test? For example, if i have a master list: 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 2, 39, 482, 19283, 19, 23, 1, 29 And I want to find sequence: 1, 2, 3, 4 I would like some easy way to fill a subset list with: 1, 2, 3, 4 + the next five integers in the master list And then remove the integers in the subset list from the master list so at the end of the operation, my lists would look like this: Master list: 19, 23, 1, 29 Subset list: 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 2, 39, 482, 19283 Hope that makes sense. I'm guessing maybe linq would be good for something like this, but I've never used it before. Can anyone help?

• When to trash hashmap contents to avoid performance degradation?

  Hello, I'm woking on Java with a large (millions) hashmap that is actually built with a capacity of 10.000.000 and a load factor of .75 and it's used to cache some values since cached values become useless with time (not accessed anymore) but I can't remove useless ones while on the way I would like to entirely empty the cache when its performance starts to degrade. How can I decide when it's good to do it? For example, with 10 millions capacity and .75 should I empty it when it reaches 7.5 millions of elements? Because I tried various threshold values but I would like to have an analytic one. I've already tested the fact that emping it when it's quite full is a boost for perfomance (first 2-3 algorithm iterations after the wipe just fill it back, then it starts running faster than before the wipe) Thanks

  Hello guys I am experiencing with a class generator I've written, which generates a class for each table in database with each table field as a property and such. Before that, I used to add a typed dataset to the project and add some tables to it. It automatically detected the relationship between tables and when I added a parent table as data source of a datagrid, I could add another datagrid and use the foreing key data member of it's bindingsource to fill it, and when someone moved the focus on parent datagrid, the data in child datagrid would change accordingly. Now that I have my classes, I add an object as data source for my 2 datagrids, but obviously it doesn't detect a parent child relation. But It'd really help if I could have that foreign key relation in my object datasources. Is there any way to have that relation in object datasource?

  Quick background I'm a Java developer who's been playing around with C++ in my free/bored time. Preface In C++, you often see pop taking an argument by reference: void pop(Item& removed); I understand that it is nice to "fill in" the parameter with what you removed. That totally makes sense to me. This way, the person who asked to remove the top item can have a look at what was removed. However, if I were to do this in Java, I'd do something like this: Item pop() throws StackException; This way, after the pop we return either: NULL as a result, an Item, or an exception would be thrown. My C++ text book shows me the example above, but I see plenty of stack implimentations taking no arguments (stl stack for example). The Qustion How should one implement the pop function in C++? The Bonus Why?

  I suppose the naive implementation of a + operator for matrices (2D for instance) in C++ would be: class Matrix { Matrix operator+ (Matrix other) const { Matrix result; // fill result with *this.data plus other.data return result; } } so we could use it like Matrix a; Matrix b; Matrix c; c = a + b; Right? But if matrices are big this is not efficient as we are doing one not-necessary copy (return result). Therefore, If we wan't to be efficient we have to forget the clean call: c = a + b; Right? • Asynchronous database update in Django?

  I have a big form on my site. When the users fill it out and submit it, most of the data just gets dumped to the database, and then they get redirected to a new page. However, I'd also like to use the data to query another site, and then parse the results. That might take a bit longer. It's not essential that the user sees these results right away, so I was wondering if it's possible to asynchronously call a function that will handle this, and then return an HttpResponse from my view like usual without making them wait? If so... how? Any particular libraries I should look at?

  Hi. I have a table with some columns. Something like this: tr1td1 one remove button tr1td2 one remove button ... The table has the size of the div#outer When I click remove button I remove with jquery the entire column . In Firefox everything's fine the table's columns resize to fill the div but in Internet Explorer the table's columns remain just as they are. It's like the browser doesn't refresh the css style. Because if I refresh the page the table looks just as it shoud be. Any ideas?
