• Filling in a form client-side [Javascript]

  I'm coding up a small Vista/7 sidebar gadget for our web based employee schedule system and I've run into a Javascript problem that my Google-FU can't solve. I can't figure out how to fill in a login form from the client. I'm creating a new ActiveXObject, navigating to the site, but lost as to where to go from here. var conn = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); conn.open("POST", "url", false); conn.send(null); Can access the form from the ActiveXObject based on the form id? I'd also assume I'm going to need to change a few headers for a POST vs. a GET? Thanks for any tips or links to references! I can't seem to find much and JavaScript isn't my forte.

• EditText and Button on the same line with Textiew underneath?

  Hi, I am trying to have an EditText widget next to a button with a text view underneath. The EditText should resize and fill the screen accordingly, while the button's width is always only what it needs to be by setting the width to wrap_content. The layout should not be relative. Below is the code I have so far some of which was found here on StackOverflow. Removing the text view gives the desired appearance for the EditText and button, but when the TextView is added the view goes to ... well. Not sure why the code is not showing? I guess that it makes no sense to store those on a separate table called advantages, because it will never be used to anything else despite display, and I fill it as too overkill. So I was thinking about creating a varchar255 field on this product table, and allow values to be inserted like: Very nice;Very good;Very cool On a free-form text input field. Then split those on a php array. My question is: Is it out there, a better approach ?

• How to extract messages to translate from a Play! application

  I'm writing my first application using the Play! framework and I was wondering if there was a tool that could extract the messages that need translation from my views and controllers for me ? It is rather cumbersome to fill the conf/messages(.xx) file while I'm developing my app, but I'm afraid that if I don't do it as I go, I will never be able to completely translate my application afterwards. Such tools exist with other framework such as CakePHP for instance, and I think that it shouldn't be hard to write one by myself, but if there already is one... I was also wondering, what should I name the keys of the messages in my application ? Using gettext, it's not bad practice to directly type in the message in english as the key, but is it with the system that Play! uses (MessageFormat, right ?) ? Does anyone have an advice or naming convention (something like controller.action.describe_the_message maybe) ? Thank you for your advices !

  Do you know when you use in a form the password field, like this: <input type="password" name="pass"> And you do a GET or POST submit to the same page who have the form and if the user hit back in the browser the password field gets blank. Well thats good, but i need to get blank another form field when the user hit back. Thats because i asking for a captcha and the text field who hold the information entered by the user ramain fill when he hit back, but the captcha image change, and if i dont blank the field the user (sometimes) dont get that he needs to re-enter the captcha. It does not represent the table name I pass in as the parameter TableName and this parameter does not get mutated so I don't know where the name Table comes from. • Where's the rest of the space used in this table?

  I'm using SQL Server 2005. I have a table whose row size should be 124 bytes. It's all ints or floats, no NULL columns (so everything is fixed width). There is only one index, clustered. The fill factor is 0. After inserting a ton of data, sp_spaceused returns the following name rows reserved data index_size unused OHLC_Bar_Trl 117076054 29807664 KB 29711624 KB 92344 KB 3696 KB which shows a rowsize of approx (29807664*1024)/117076054 = 260 bytes/row. Where's the rest of the space? Is there some DBCC command I need to run to tighten up this table (I could not insert the rows in correct index order, so maybe it's just internal fragmentation)?

• How can i initialize an array without knowing it size?

  I have a situation where i have to apply a criteria on an input array and reuturn another array as output which will have smaller size based upon the filtering criteria. Now problem is i do not know the size of filtered results, so i can not initialize the array with specific value. And i do not want it to be large size will null values because i am using array.length; later on. One way is to first loop the original input array and set a counter, and then make another loop with that counter length and initialize and fill this array[]. But is there anyway to do the job in just one loop?

  I am writing an application in java that I care about being secure. After encrypting a byte array, I want to forcibly remove from memory anything potentially dangerous such as the key used. In the following snippet key is a byte[], as is data. SecretKeySpec secretKeySpec = new SecretKeySpec(key, "AES"); Cipher cipher = Cipher.getInstance("AES"); cipher.init(Cipher.ENCRYPT_MODE, secretKeySpec); byte[] encData = cipher.doFinal(data, 0, data.length); Arrays.fill(key, (byte)0); As far as I understand, the last line above overwrites the key with 0s so that it no longer contains any dangerous data, but I can't find a way to overwrite or evict secretKeySpec or cipher similarly. Is there any way to forcibly overwrite the memory held by secretKeySpec and cipher, so that if someone were to be able to view the current memory state (say, via a cold boot attack), they would not get access to this information?

  I want to fill a button with an icon I created but whatever I have tried just seems to put the icon either half cut off and way left, or it doesn't show at all. I've been trying different combinations of CSS and the icon, iconcls, cls button options. I was following the Ext 3 buttons example page but that doesn't seem to display anything for me...
