• Query DNSBL or other block lists using PHP

  Is there any way to use PHP code to query a DNSBL (block list) provider and find out if the IP address submitted is a bad actor? I would like to take an existing IP address out of a registration database, then check whether it's a known block-listed IP address by performing a lookup on it, then if it's a blacklisted, do an action on it (such as, delete entry from registration database). Most of the instructions I have seen assume you are trying to query the blocklist via a mail server, which I can't do. I tried querying via web browser by typing in queries such as "58.64.xx.xxx.dnsbl.sorbs.net" but that didn't work.

  I know it sounds weird but I need it for a workaround. So some link in an ActionScript links for a .php file. As I am unable to edit this link in the AS I need some workaround. I have the xml and the .php file needs to output that exact xml code. How can this be done. Ultimately I would like to create a .php script that outputs xml. Where can I find instructions on how to do this? thanks!

• Eclipse and Cassandra

  I've searched various websites for instructions on how to link 'Cassandra' and 'Eclipse' and followed directions to the last detail in several sites. For some reason, while using Git Bash, I cant get through the 'ant build', via instruction in said mentioned locations across the web. In some location's its easy, just make sure you have; 1. Apache Cassandra source 2. Apache Ant 3. Git So, yeah I've downloaded all the above, tried the same directory, different directories, etc., although still unable to get past the middle step of 'ant build'. • Google app engine - what is the lifecycle of PersistenceManager?

  What is the preferred way of using GAE datastore PersistenceManager for web app? GAE instructions are a bit ambiguous on the matter. Do I instantiate PersistenceManagerFactory for each RPC call, or do I use only one factory for all requests? Do I call PMF.get().getPersistenceManager(), or do I call PMF.get().getPersistenceManagerProxy()? Do I close PM after each RPC call, or do I leave it open? What are you guys doing? Furthermore, I'm not certain how GAE handles 30-second-per-request limit. Is it even possible to reference the same PM between requests?

• Very slow Eclipse 4.2, how to make it more responsive?

  I'm using Eclipse PDT on a rather large PHP project and the IDE is almost unusable. It takes nearly 30 seconds to open a file, and other actions, like selecting a folder in the file explorer, editing some text, etc. are equally slow. I followed various instructions to speed it up but nothing seems to work. This is my current eclipse.ini file. • Drupal: Multiple Stylesheets

  I'm currently creating a custom Drupal theme for my company and I'm having trouble getting multiple stylesheets to load. I followed the instructions on this page by adding stylesheets to the .info file in the format: stylesheets[all][] = style.css stylesheets[all][] = name2.css etc... However, when I load the page nothing changes and when I view source, it consistently lists style.css but seems to ignore the others. Am I misunderstood in the process of adding additional stylesheets? What could I be doing incorrectly? Thanks for any help!

• Using Thrift to connect to Cassandra from .NET

  Hi, I'm interested in Cassandra and I'd like to test it at home in my Windows XP computer. I've found instructions for install an run Cassandra in Windows, and it's already up and running; I've also found the thrift executable for Windows and generate the C# interfaces, but... when I try to compile that generated code in Visual Studio I got : "The type or namespace name 'Thrift' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)", so I'm missing something else, but I cannot find what... What is it? Is it a dll? I've looked in the thrift code and I cannot find anything related to .net , so what am I missing? Thanks in advance. Regards.

• Iphone sdk - please help , 1 view takes me 45 minutes to do :(

  Hey, I've been working on a Cook Book App but each view ( or recipie page) takes about 45 minutes to complete so as you can imagine its taking forever. The problem is that I have to manually: Set up a gradient image for the back ground (Somtimes I have to add a few image backgrounds to fit the view as I often use a scroll view, not sure how this could be automated?) Put an image behind the titles "Recipe name" , "Time needed" and an image to go behind the recipie instructions ( again I might need a few of these depending on how long the description is. Creating view controllers for main sections such as "Breakfast" and "Lunch" and then I need to manually create view controllers to go in these sections. Theres got to be a way to set up a template for this? Thanks for reading all of this.

• Best compiled language for Mac OS X and Linux compatibility

  We need to write some software that will compile and run on both an Mac OS X server and Ubuntu. We would love to use Objective-C with all of its Cocoa goodness, however the GNUstep implementations of the parts we are using are broken (in the latest Ubuntu package anyway.) In light of this should we use C++ (I would really rather not), C or something else that we have not thought of? It is a server/back-end process that is very resource intensive, Java and other interpreted versions of this software perform much worse than the Objective-C proof of concept we have written, hence we now wish to re-write in a "compiled[1]" language. (NB: Some people might consider this subjective, however at the end of the day we do need to get a job done, there has to be a reasonably appropriate correct answer here). [1] Compiled to native CPU instructions, not compiled into "byte codes" that then have to be run by an interpreter.

  Hello, I have to install two libraries CGNS to use it in Fortan, but I don't understand how, the basic instructions are: To compile under MS Windows: configure.bat [options] then gmake if using GNU make, or nmake if using nmake. NOTE: This assumes that the cl compiler is in your path, and that the INCLUDE and LIB environment variables are set to include the directories containing the MSC include files and libraries. If not, you will need to use full path names to cl and link, and define INCLUDE and LIB in make.win32. You may also execute VCVARS32.BAT in the BIN directory of your VC installation to set these up prior to running nmake. so what i did was to: tape configure.bat it creates the rights files I set the news paths and lib, include for the cl.exe and link.exe but now the warning and error messages are about the clui.dll. cl -nologo -I. -Iadf -FoWIN32\cgns_error.obj -c cgns_error.c Cannot load language resource clui.dll what can i do now?   I'm trying to deploy my WCF RIA services application to our in-house server for testing. I am running the version of the exe that I found inside of C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.21006 There is also C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.0\Windows Communication Foundation that has (what I assume is) the same exe in it, and I can use it just fine. I've tried to un-install the 3.0 version before installing the 4.0 version, but I am still getting the same warning and failure. Has anyone successfully done this with .net 4.0?

  I am new to GAE, I follow the instructions on http://code.google.com/eclipse/docs/install-eclipse-3.7.html. I got the installation and registration done pretty fast. But when I tried to build the helloWorld project in Eclipse, before I can do anything, Eclipse gives me an error says "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/google/appengine/tools/enhancer/Enhance" and it is very weird. Because when you expand the app engine sdk, you can easily find the Enhance class under related jar file. I also tried Enhance e = null; and it is working. It seems that my eclipse just cannot find it. I don't know why it is not working, I am using JDK1.6, I reinstall my eclipse and the google plugins, I even disabled my firewall. Please help!!!

• Can't DER encode and BER decode RSA public key

  I have problems using Crypto++ to save a RSA public key (that I obtained loading a private key file in PKCS#8 format). When decoding the key, I always get a BERDecodeErr exception.   I have a database on line with Godaddy (who uses SQL Server 2005). They provide basic management tools, but tell you that for more advanced tools you can connect directly using SSMS. I followed their instructions to ensure my online database will accept remote connections, and can apparently log in using SSMS with success (after giving my hostname and access data). • CodeIgniter's Scaffolding not working

  Hi, I keep getting a 404 Page Not Found whenever I try to access CodeIgniter's Scaffolding page in my browser, like so: localhost/codeignitor/index.php/blog/scaffolding/mysecretword I can access localhost/codeignitor/index.php/blog just fine. I followed CodeIgnitor's instructions in their "Create a blog in 20 minutes" by storing my database settings in the database.php file; and automatically connecting to the database by inserting "database" in the core array of the autoload.php; and I've added both parent::Controller(); and $this-load-scaffolding('myTableName') to blog's constructor. It still gives me this 404. Any suggestions?

• How can I integrate a bitbucket repository with the hosted on-demand version of FogBugz?

  I use the on-demand (hosted) version of FogBugz. I would like to start using Mercurial for source control. I would like to integrate FogBugz and a BitBucket repository. I gave it a bit of a try but things weren't going very well. FogBugz requires that you hook up your Mercurial client to a fogbugz.py python script. TortoiseHg doesn't seem to have the hgext directory that they refer to in instructions. So has anyone successfully done something similar?

  Hello All, I am using Ubuntu + cakephp 1.3. I am trying the database migration with the help of cakeDC migration plugin. I configured the plugin as per the instructions. • Why is 'heroku create' doing nothing?

  I opened a heroku account. I followed the instructions on http://docs.heroku.com/quickstart. I have a working rails app which I have deployed successfully elsewhere. I have a github account that works. I have a local git repository for my rails app. I installed the heroku gem. It shows up in my gem list. I typed 'heroku create' at the command prompt... My command console showed that it was thinking about it, but did nothing. No errors. No action. Possible related facts: I am using a Windows 7 machine. I have also failed miserably at deploying with capistrano with a similar--issue command, get no response--pattern.

I feel this is a stupid error, what am I missing here?

  I'm working with MS SQL SERVER 2003. I want to change a column in one of my tables to have fewer characters in the entries. This is identical to this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2281336/altering-a-table-column-to-accept-more-characters except for the fact that I want fewer characters instead of more. I have a column in one of my tables that holds nine-digit entries. A developer previously working on the table mistakenly set the column to hold ten-digit entries. I need to change the type from CHAR(10) to CHAR(9). Following the instructions from the discussion linked above, I wrote the statement ALTER TABLE [MY_TABLE] ALTER COLUMN [MY_COLUMN] CHAR(9); This returns the error message "String or binary data would be truncated". I see that my nine-digit strings have a space appended to make them ten digits. How do I tell SQL Server to discard the extra space and convert my column to a CHAR(9) type?

• Why are functions loaded at aligned addresses in x86 Linux for elf executables?

  Hi, I've been looking at Linux elf executables on x86, mostly using IDA but also gdb. One thing I've noticed is functions are always loaded at word aligned addresses? Anybody knows the reason of that? I am not aware of any requirement of x86 instructions to start at aligned addresses. And it cannot be due to page alignment cause the page boundary can still be anywhere within the function. I would appreciate any insight at all. Thanks.
