  • Persistance Queue Implementation

    - by Winter
I was reading an article on Batch Processing in java over at JDJ http://java.sys-con.com/node/415321 . The article mentioned using a persistence queue as a Batch Updater instead of immediately sending an individual insert or update to the database. The author doesn't give a concrete example of this concept so I googled Persistence Queue but that didn't come up with much. Does anyone know of a good example of this?

  • method implementation for this case in Java

    - by Thomas
Hello, I just saw a code snippet like this: private static class DefaultErrorHandler<RT> implements ErrorHandler<RT> { public RT handle(Object[] params, Throwable e) { return Exceptions.throwUncheckedException(e); } Now I am wondering what the static method "throwUncheckedException (Throwable e)" would return exactly and how it might be implemented regarding the generics. Can anybody give me an example ?

  • python recursive iteration exceeding limit for tree implementation

    - by user3698027
I'm implementing a tree dynamically in python. I have defined a class like this... class nodeobject(): def __init__(self,presentnode=None,parent=None): self.currentNode = presentnode self.parentNode = parent self.childs = [] I have a function which gets possible childs for every node from a pool def findchildren(node, childs): # No need to write the whole function on how it gets childs Now I have a recursive function that starts with the head node (no parent) and moves down the chain recursively for every node (base case being the last node having no children) def tree(dad, children): for child in children: childobject = nodeobject(child, dad) dad.childs.append(childobject) newchilds = findchildren(child, children) if len(newchilds) == 0: lastchild = nodeobject(newchilds, childobject) childobject.childs.append(lastchild) loopchild = copy.deepcopy(lastchild) while loopchild.parentNode != None: print "last child" else: tree(childobject, newchilds) The tree formation works for certain number of inputs only. Once the pool gets bigger, it results into "MAXIMUM RECURSION DEPTH EXCEEDED" I have tried setting the recursion limit with set.recursionlimit() and it doesn't work. THe program crashes. I want to implement a stack for recursion, can someone please help, I have gone no where even after trying for a long time ?? Also, is there any other way to fix this other than stack ?

  • Request/Response pattern in SOA implementation

    - by UserControl
In some enterprise-like project (.NET, WCF) i saw that all service contracts accept a single Request parameter and always return Response: [DataContract] public class CustomerRequest : RequestBase { [DataMember] public long Id { get; set; } } [DataContract] public class CustomerResponse : ResponseBase { [DataMember] public CustomerInfo Customer { get; set; } } where RequestBase/ResponseBase contain common stuff like ErrorCode, Context, etc. Bodies of both service methods and proxies are wrapped in try/catch, so the only way to check for errors is looking at ResponseBase.ErrorCode (which is enumeration). I want to know how this technique is called and why it's better compared to passing what's needed as method parameters and using standard WCF context passing/faults mechanisms?

  • C Language Standard Collections Where Are They?

    - by flaxeater
I have committed to learning C now, I'm good with Python/PHP/Bash but I've decided I'm limited by not being fluent in C. However I cannot imagine working in a language without lists and hashes, maybe I'm just jumping a gun, but surely there are 'standard' collection libraries. I do not see any in the GNU standard lib though, any suggestions?

  • What is the fastest language? [closed]

    - by Murtez
I'm looking to make a site with a database, user accounts, and possibly more later on (subscriptions, bidding, payment, any any possible # of upgrades). Website speed is VERY important, what is the fastest secure language / method to make it in?

  • Using my ISerializable implementation instead of DataContractSerializer

    - by mpm
My WCF client and server exchange objects whose types are defined on a class library shared by both, the server and the client. These objects implement custom serialization via ISerializable. However, my custom serialization is not being used. DataContractSerializer is being used, instead. How do I force my custom serialization to be used? The reason why I need to use my own serialization is because I do trasfer some big object graphs and my serialization algorithm does a good job in compressing/speeding up things.

  • super(type, subclass) in simple singleton implementation

    - by Tianchen Wu
when I was implementing naive singleton in python, I came up with a problem with super key word. As usual the behavior of super is always tricky and buggy, hope someone can shed light on it. Thanks :) The problem is that: class Singleton(object): def __new__(cls,*args,**kw): if not hasattr(cls,'_instance'): #create a instance of type cls, origin=super(Singleton,Singleton).__new__(cls,*args,**kw) cls._instance=origin return cls._instance class B(Singleton): def __init__(self,b): self.b=b It actually works, but I am wondering Will it be better if I change line 5 to the below, like in most of the books? origin=super(Singleton,cls).__new__(cls,*args,**ks) what's the difference to make?

  • Delay in the implementation of text change in Statusbar control

    - by ehsan zeynali
    I have a function a time consuming operation that is done I want to start and end operations appear to be user (By statusbar control) But when performed function, both text executed at the end of function. (user can not sees "Start Operation ...") What solution do you recommend to me? private void btnUpdateDataBase_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { TextBlockStatus.Text = "Start Operation ..."; //Time consuming operation TextBlockStatus.Text = "End Operation ..."; }

  • Fibonnaci Sequence fast implementation

    - by user2947615
I have written this function in Scala to calculate the fibonacci number given a particular index n: def fibonacci(n: Long): Long = { if(n <= 1) n else fibonacci(n - 1) + fibonacci(n - 2) } However it is not efficient when calculating with large indexes. Therefore I need to implement a function using a tuple and this function should return two consecutive values as the result. Can somebody give me any hints about this? I have never used Scala before. Thanks!

  • Programming Exercises for Learning Purposes?

    - by cam
Are there any programming exercises that apply to any language? Before I got my first job, I thought I knew C# pretty well, then I was thrown right into the deep end, and now I know I have a good command over the language. I would like to apply the same method to other languages, but unfortunately, I'm sort of stuck with C# at work. Ideally, something similar (but broader in scope) to Project Euler is ideal. Project Euler helped me learn a ton of C++/F#, some math, algorithms, handling bignums, etc. I'm looking for something like this.

  • Memcached getDelayed alternative implementation

    - by iBobo
I would like to use getDelayed on the PHP Memcached extension but I think it's not implemented in the right way. Right now you ask for some keys and then retrieve all of them with fetch() and fetchAll(). But imagine a scenario where I need to retrieve 15 keys used in different parts of the page which I don't know in advance, but I can ask the various objects to give me the list. What I want is give the Memcached instance this list (each component would give its part) then later when I need them retrieve from the instance, but not all of them at once: each component would take the one it needs. Basically if I were to implement this I would prohibit using getDelayed alone and implement a bookGet($keys) method where you would add the keys to book (which actually calls getDelayed), and redefine get to handle these three cases: key is booked and retrieved - return the value; key is booked but not retrieved - go and force the fetch of the booked keys and return the correct value; key not booked - do a normal lookup. I want to know if this makes sense, your thoughts on the subject and if someone already implemented this or maybe PECL Memcached already works this way and actually the documentation doesn't explain it correctly.

  • Adapting pseudocode to java implementation for finding the longest word in a trie

    - by user1766888
Referring to this question I asked: How to find the longest word in a trie? I'm having trouble implementing the pseudocode given in the answer. findLongest(trie): //first do a BFS and find the "last node" queue <- [] queue.add(trie.root) last <- nil map <- empty map while (not queue.empty()): curr <- queue.pop() for each son of curr: queue.add(son) map.put(son, curr) //marking curr as the parent of son last <- curr //in here, last indicate the leaf of the longest word //Now, go up the trie and find the actual path/string curr <- last str = "" while (curr != nil): str = curr + str //we go from end to start curr = map.get(curr) return str This is what I have for my method public static String longestWord (DTN d) { Queue<DTN> holding = new ArrayQueue<DTN>(); holding.add(d); DTN last = null; Map<DTN,DTN> test = new ArrayMap<DTN,DTN>(); DTN curr; while (!holding.isEmpty()) { curr = holding.remove(); for (Map.Entry<String, DTN> e : curr.children.entries()) { holding.add(curr.children.get(e)); test.put(curr.children.get(e), curr); } last = curr; } curr = last; String str = ""; while (curr != null) { str = curr + str; curr = test.get(curr); } return str; } I'm getting a NullPointerException at: for (Map.Entry<String, DTN> e : curr.children.entries()) How can I find and fix the cause of the NullPointerException of the method so that it returns the longest word in a trie?

  • Interpreted languages: The higher-level the faster?

    - by immersion
I have designed around 5 experimental languages and interpreters for them so far, for education, as a hobby and for fun. One thing I noticed: The assembly-like language featuring only subroutines and conditional jumps as structures was much slower than the high-level language featuring if, while and so on. I developed them both simultaneously and both were interpreted languages. I wrote the interpreters in C++ and I tried to optimize the code-execution part to be as fast as possible. My hypothesis: In almost all cases, performance of interpreted languages rises with their level (high/low). Am I basically right with this? (If not, why?)
