  • Repeatedly querying xml using python

    - by Jack
I have some xml documents I need to run queries on. I've created some python scripts (using ElementTree) to do this, since I'm vaguely familiar with using it. The way it works is I run the scripts several times with different arguments, depending on what I want to find out. These files can be relatively large (10MB+) and so it takes rather a long time to parse them. On my system, just running: tree = ElementTree.parse(document) takes around 30 seconds, with a subsequent findall query only adding around a second to that. Seeing as the way I'm doing this requires me to repeatedly parse the file, I was wondering if there was some sort of caching mechanism I can use so that the ElementTree.parse computation can be reduced on subsequent queries. I realise the smart thing to do here may be to try and batch as many queries as possible together in the python script, but I was hoping there might be another way. Thanks.

  • Mixing JPA annotations and XML configuration

    - by HDave
I have a fairly large (new) project in which we have annotated many domain classes with JPA mappings. Now it is time to implement many named queries -- some entities may have as many as 15-20 named queries. I am thinking that writing these named queries in annotations will clutter the source files and therefore am considering putting these in XML mapping files. Is this possible? Mort importantly, is this reasonable? Are there better approaches? How is this done?

  • php DOM, get values from xml document, php xml

    - by Michael
I'm trying to get some information (itemID, title, price and mileage) for multiple listings from ebay website using their api . So far I got this link up http://open.api.ebay.com/shopping?callname=GetMultipleItems&responseencoding=XML&appid=Morcovar-c74b-47c0-954f-463afb69a4b3&siteid=0&version=525&IncludeSelector=ItemSpecifics&ItemID=220617293997,250645537939,230485306218 I've saved the document as .xml file using php curl and now I need to get/extract the values(itemID, title, price and mileage) into arrays and store them in database. Unfortunately I never worked with php dom and I can't figure it out how to extract the values . I tried to follow the tutorial found on IBM website http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/library/os-xmldomphp/ but I had no success. Some help would be highly appreciated.

  • Return an object after parsing xml with SAX

    - by sentimental_turtle
I have some large XML files to parse and have created an object class to contain my relevant data. Unfortunately, I am unsure how to return the object for later processing. Right now I pickle my data and moments later depickle the object for access. This seems wasteful, and there surely must be a way of grabbing my data without hitting the disk. def endElement(self, name): if name == "info": # done collecting this iteration self.data.setX(self.x) self.data.setY(self.y) elif name == "lastTagOfInterest": # done with file # want to return my object from here filehandler = open(self.outputname + ".pi", "w") pickle.dump(self.data, filehandler) filehandler.close() I have tried putting a return statement in my endElement tag, but that does not seem to get passed up the chain to where I call the SAX parser. Thanks for any tips.

  • How to post XML document to HTTP with VB.Net

    - by Joshua McGinnis
I'm looking for help with posting my XML document to a url in VB.NET. Here's what I have so far ... Public Shared xml As New System.Xml.XmlDocument() Public Shared Sub Main() Dim root As XmlElement root = xml.CreateElement("root") xml.AppendChild(root) Dim username As XmlElement username = xml.CreateElement("username") username.InnerText = _username root.AppendChild(username) xml.Save(Console.Out) Dim url = "https://mydomain.com" Dim req As WebRequest = WebRequest.Create(url) req.Method = "POST" req.ContentType = "application/xml" req.Headers.Add("Custom: API_Method") Console.WriteLine(req.Headers.ToString()) This is where things go awry: I want to post the xml, and then print the results to console. Dim newStream As Stream = req.GetRequestStream() xml.Save(newStream) Dim response As WebResponse = req.GetResponse() Console.WriteLine(response.ToString()) End Sub

  • Best way to parse XMPP-like XML streams?

    - by codethief
I am working on a server application which receives data over a TCP socket in an XMPP-like XML format, i.e. every child of the <root> element essentially represents one separate request (stanza). The connection is closed as soon as </root> is received. I do know that I must use a stream parser like SAX, somehow. Though, for convenience, I'd prefer to have a tree-like interface to access each stanza's child elements. (The data sent with every request is not large so I think it makes sense to read each stanza as a whole.) What's the best way to realize that in Python (preferably v3)? This is the code I'd like to build it in. Feel free to point me in a totally different direction to solve this issue. import socketserver import settings class MyServer(socketserver.ThreadingMixIn, socketserver.TCPServer): pass class MyRequestHandler(socketserver.StreamRequestHandler): def handle(self): pass if __name__ == '__main__': server = MyServer((settings.host, settings.port), MyRequestHandler) server.serve_forever()

  • Storing Data as XML BLOB

    - by NBrowne
Hi, At the moment the team i am working with is looking into the possibility of storing data which is entered by users from a series of input wizard screens as an XML blob in the database. the main reason for this being that i would like to write the input wizard as a component which can be brought into a number of systems without having to bring with it a large table structure. To try to clarify if the wizard has 100 input fields (for example) then if i go with the normal relational db structure then their will be a 1 to 1 relationship so will have 100 columns in database. So to get this working in another system will have to bring the tables, strore procedures etc into the new system. I have a number of reservations about this but i would like peoples opinions?? thanks

  • Trying to send XML via EMail and the XML includes a byte[]

    - by barbary
Hello All, I want to send an email that has a machine readable part you cut and paste into an asp.net page and you get the information. I have stored all the information in an object and then used an XMLSerizer to create some xml. It all worked fine until I added some Images as byte[] to the object. If I dump the resulting string to disk then I can recreate the object fine but after it appears in the email client and I try to cut and paste it it never works. Clearly there are non standard characters coming out that email clients don't like. Is there some encoding I could apply to my XML that would make it display correctly in an email client? Then I could cut, paste, decode and deserilize to get my object back. Please an example of how to encode the string in c# would be great.

  • Right approach to convert a word document that contains forms in a web app

    - by carlo
I would know if someone can suggest a good approach to convert a word document that contains forms in a web app, specifically in an application built with WaveMaker.(but I'm curious also with a general approach not strictly dependent on the technology that I have mentioned). For example, if I have a page in a word document, that maps the fields of a user entity, what could be my "programmer approach" to convert it without much use of copy-paste, but with a dynamic methodology ?

  • What is this XML Parse Error?

    - by Jake
    I am using the following script to generate a RSS feed for my site: <?php class RSS { public function RSS() { $root = $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT']; require_once ("../connect.php"); } public function GetFeed() { return $this->getDetails() . $this->getItems(); } private function dbConnect() { DEFINE ('LINK', mysql_connect (DB_HOST, DB_USER, DB_PASSWORD)); } private function getDetails() { $detailsTable = "rss_feed_details"; $this->dbConnect($detailsTable); $query = "SELECT * FROM ". $detailsTable ."   • How to convert XML to a HTML table using XSL for-each

    - by Meeeee
    I am trying to convert some XML with XSL, to make the output look better and more readable for other users. I have some XML along the lines of: <G> <OE> <example1>Sample 1</example1> <example2>Sample 2</example2> <var name="name1"> <integer>1</integer> </var> </OE> </G> I want to get all the details from it and display it in a table so I use the following XSL code: <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" > <xsl:template match="/"> <html> <body> <h2>Heading</h2> <table border="1"> <tr bgcolor="#3399FF"> <th>Example 1</th> <th>Example 2</th> <th>Var name</th> <th>Int</th> </tr> <xsl:for-each select="G/OE"> <xsl:for-each select="var"> <tr> <td> <xsl:value-of select="Example 1" /> </td> <td> <xsl:value-of select="Example 2" /> </td> <td> <xsl:value-of select="@name" /> </td> <td> <xsl:value-of select="integer" /> </td> </tr> </xsl:for-each> </xsl:for-each> </table> </body> </html> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> I know that the following XSL won't work properly. I want the output to be: Sample 1, Sample 2, name1, 1 - in a table format. My problem is I don't know how to do this. In the above XSL code it will only retrieve var and integer. If I only use the top <xsl:for-each>, then only the first two are retrieved. I have tried moving the 2nd <xsl:for-each> after the first to have been selected, so between: <td><xsl:value-of select="Example 2"/></td> and <td><xsl:value-of select="@name"/></td> I get an error. Is there any way to solve this problem? Thanks for the help.

  • Overwhelmed by complex C#/ASP.NET project in Visual Studio 2008

    - by Darren Cook
I have been hired as a junior programmer to work on projects that extend existing functionality in a very large, complex solution. The code base consists of C#, ASP.NET, jQuery, javascript, html and xml. I have some knowledge of all these in addition to fair knowledge of object-oriented programming and its fundamental concepts of inheritance, abstraction, polymorphism and encapsulation. I can follow code up through its base classes, interfaces, abstract classes and understand a large part of the code that I read while doing this. However, this solution is so humongous and so many things get tied together whenever I navigate through the code that I feel absolutely overwhelmed. I often find myself unable to fully follow everything that is going on with objects being serialized, large amounts of C# and javascript operating on the same pages and methods being called from template files that consist mainly of markup. I love learning about code, but trying to deal with this really stresses me out. Additionally, I do know that a significant amount of unit testing has been done but I know nothing about unit testing or how to utilize it. Any advice anyone could offer me regarding dealing with a large code base while using Visual Studio 2008 would be greatly appreciated. Are there tools that I can use to help get a handle on what is going on? Perhaps there are things even in Visual Studio that I am not aware of. How can I follow the code to low level functionality in order to get a better grasp of what is going on at a high level?

  • How to check if string is a valid XML element name?

I need a regex or a function in PHP that will validate a string to be a good XML element name. Form w3schools: XML elements must follow these naming rules: Names can contain letters, numbers, and other characters Names cannot start with a number or punctuation character Names cannot start with the letters xml (or XML, or Xml, etc) Names cannot contain spaces I can write a basic regex that will check for rules 1,2 and 4, but it won't account for all punctuation allowed and won't account for 3rd rule \w[\w0-9-]

  • Docbook: Centralized glossary, where each document includes only terms which appear in it?

    - by DanM
Trying to figure out if this (or something similar) is possible. I'm working with a collection of technical documents, all written in DocBook. The documents each contain many acronyms, technical terms and other jargon, so we need to include a glossary with each of them. The ideal situation would be this: I have a central glossary.xml file which contains a glossentry item (or similar) for each such term; then, each of the documents uses that glossary file, but only prints out the terms which appear IN that document. So, each document has its own glossary printed at the end, but the actual glossary entries are stored centrally. Is that doable?

To enable DTD processing set the ProhibitDtd property on XmlReaderSettings to false and pass the settings into XmlReader.Create method. prod-config.dtd is sitting in the same directory as the XML config file. I don't have access to the component code to modify XmlReaderSettings, ProhibitDtd etc. Is there anotherway I can modify or tag the XML file to permit the DTD to be accessed? • Android vertical line xml

    - by Kaspa
Hello, I'm trying to figure out how to define a verical line (1px thick) to be used as a drawable. to make a horizontal one, it's pretty straightforward: <shape xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:shape="line"> <stroke android:width="1dp" android:color="#0000FF"/> <size android:height="50dp" /> </shape> The question is, how to make this line vertical? Yes, there are workarounds, such as drawing a rectangle shape 1px thick, but that complicates the drawable xml, if it consists of multiple <item> elements. Anyone had any chance with this?
