• jQuery fade in background colour

  Hi, I'm trying to fade in the background colour of a table row, and can't get it right. The fade-in will happen when a button is clicked. I tried something like: $("#row_2").fadeIn('slow').css('background', 'gold') And although this will apply the colour to the table row, it won't fade in, but apply it at once. I'm sure this is a simple thing, but I can't find an answer to that. I've looked all over in this website, but still no luck for this specific thing. Thanks in advance

• Ruby: Read large data from stdout and stderr of an external process on Windows

  Greetings, all, I need to run a potentially long-running process from Ruby on Windows and subsequently capture and parse the data from the external process's standard output and error. A large amount of data can be sent to each, but I am only necessarily interested in one line at a time (not capturing and storing the whole of the output). After a bit of research, I found that the Open3 class would take care of executing the process and giving me IO objects connected to the process's standard output and error (via popen3). Open3.popen3("external-program.bat") do |stdin, out, err, thread| # Step3.profit() ? end However, I'm not sure how to continually read from both streams without blocking the program. Since calling IO#readlines on out or err when a lot of data has been sent results in a memory allocation error, I'm trying to continuously check both streams for available input, but not having much luck with any of my implementations. • Changing stylesheet href with jQuery doesn't quite work

  I'm creating a web app that user will be accessing in the field, so they'd like to be able to manually toggle the styles from light to dark depending on the ambient lighting. I'm using jQuery. I added an id attribute to my stylesheet, then created a button using the toggle() event, in which I change the href attribute to the CSS file I want. The CSS file has several @import directives as I split the styles into several files for maintainability. My problem is only the main CSS file is being applied. I tried using the absolute path in the @import directives, but no luck. Is there a fix here I'm missing, or do I have to inlcude everything in a single CSS file? Edit: Apprently this is only a problem in IE8, works fine in Chrome and Firefox. Unfortunately, my client wants only IE8. Looks like this is a duplicate of this question.

• Retrieving values from Env in mod_esi or webtools

From the docs, I thought it was a list of tuples, which I thought would make it accessible via lists:keyfind, but I've had no luck. So far, all the examples I've found only show how to print everything with io_lib but not how to access the values by key... • OpenGL and layouts

  I'm using OpenGL to render a game view in my android application. The game is turn based and I wish to add some buttons to the interface. I'd prefer to use standard Android widgets, structured in an XML-generated layout (or, if I have to, a hardcoded layout) and put the OpenGL view in its own window as part of that layout. So in regards to this, I have 3 questions: 1: Is such a thing possible? I've done a few half-hearted tries, but have had no luck so far. 2: Is such a thing advisable? Does it carry a significant performance penalty, for example, over using OpenGL-based homebrew widgetry? 3: Is it possible to pass particular arguments to instances created in XML layouts? For example, my current OpenGL view has three arguments in its constructor; is it somehow possible for me to invoke that particular constructor with particular parameters when it's part of a layout?

• Using jQuery to auto-populate a form field from another form field

  Has anyone used jquery to take data from one form field and put it into another? I'm trying to create a form that when one text input is filled out a second is auto-populated with the first letter of the word that is in the first text input. I'm thinking I can limit the second text input to one character to help get the desired result, but I'm not having luck getting jquery to get the second text input and auto-populate once the first is entered. • F12 no longer works in Visual Studio

  this is driving me crazy, ever since I installed ReSharper 4, F12 no longer seems to work. If you look at the all the ReSharper short cuts in the Goto sub menu Declaration doesn't have any assigned! The only way I can go to declaration is by using ALT and ` and then selecting Declaration. I have tried un-installing and re-installing ReSharper with no luck, I have also, in ReSharper option asked it to use the default Visual Studio Key Bindings but that doesn't to work either. Interestingly, when I do use ALT and ` I actually get two entries for the Declaration option. Has anyone come across this problem I am using Visual Studio 2005 SP1

• How can I get my div id to reload via ajax and jquery

  I'm creating a CMS using jQuery and AJAX. When I click, my "Add Campaign" buttom, it creates a unique client ID in the DB and on a hard reload, the new client shows up in its container. I am trying to use ajax to reload the container on the fly and I'm not having the exact luck i am hoping for. • Correct association mapping in Entity Framework

  Hi, Trying to change two relationships in our entity framework from many-to-one to many-to-many relationships. So I tried the obvious thing: clicked on each association on the diagram, changed the appropriate end of the association accordingly and then changed the name of the navigation property to a plural to reflect the change. This lead to the following build error, or one each for the two changes I've made: Error 3002: Problem in mapping fragments starting at line 1761:Potential runtime violation of table CustomerServices's keys (CustomerServices.Id): Columns (CustomerServices.Id) are mapped to EntitySet CompiledDatabaseCustomerService's properties (CompiledDatabaseCustomerService.CustomerService.Id) on the conceptual side but they do not form the EntitySet's key properties (CompiledDatabaseCustomerService.CompiledDatabase.Id, CompiledDatabaseCustomerService.CustomerService.Id) I'm not entirely sure why this is happening, so unsurprisngly I haven't had much luck fixing it. • Scala Eclipse IDE suddenly ignoring breakpoints

  I've been using Scala 2.8RC1 and Scala Eclipse plugin for 2.8 RC1 happily for a few days. However, last night after adding a couple jar files to my environment (apache http client jars) the debugger just stopped stopping at breakpoints in scala code. Java code stops fine at breakpoints. I tried creating a new mimimal scala app breakpoints don't stop. I've tried switching to sun-jre-1.6.0.20 from the openjdk-1.6.18 I had been using. I've switched to the scala 2.8 nightly and also eclipse plugin for scala nightly builds. No luck. I would greatly appreciate ideas for fixes. Rather frustrating as the initial experience with 2.8 was really great.

• Sqlite + Java: table not updating

  I'm using a Java wrapper for SQLite called SQLiteJDBC - this may have some bearing on any answers... I have a table which I've displayed in a GUI, within that UI I have a button for the fields for an individual row of that table. When I save my changes I do this... Statement stmt = connection.createStatement(); stmt.execute("update 'tableName' set 'fieldName'=1 where userid=1"); int updateCount = stmt.getUpdateCount(); My connection is valid, I get no exceptions thrown and getUpdateCount() returns '1' indicating that one row has been updated. However my table is not updated. I've spent the last few hours trying to work out what's going on but I'm not having any luck. Help!!

• jCarousel Lite - center images horizontally and vertically

  I have jCarousel Lite going in Drupal with images of various sizes/aspect ratios. I'm not having much luck trying to center the images vertically and horizontally (i.e. evenly-spaced). The plugin requires that the images be in a <ul><li><img ... /></li></ul>. I've tried display:inline-block, marginTop:50% among other things, most of which just screw up the carousel. • TeamCity's build agent unable to find PowerShell

  I have TC's build agent installed on Windows 2008 R2 SP1 Core. The server has PowerShell 2.0 installed (double checked, and actually from PS downloaded the TC installation). Looking at some build configuration I see these being incompatible with this agent, because powershell_x86/powershell_x64 is required. I tried deleting build agents dirs to force upgrade, but no luck. Interestingly if I provide powershell_x86, powershell_x86_Path (and for 64bit) variables into config file manually, everything runs fine. Is there anything I can do to have the build agent find PowerShell automatically? What/where is it looking for it? Maybe the 'Core' is problem.

For example, we have the following structure in our XML: <item> <latitude/> <longitude/> </item> I want to see if there are any records that have latitude/longitude in the opposite order i.e. <longitude/> then <latitude/>. • Retractable button bar using animations

  I want to create a button bar that is retractable: when the user clicks on a special "handle" button, the button bar should slide out of view partially so only the handle remains visible. When the bar is in retracted state only the handle is visible. Clicking on the handle should "slide out" the button bar so it is completely visible again. Ideally, the bar would start out in retracted state. I have tried some approaches using TranslateAnimation, including using a layout animation or calling "View.startAnimation" when the handle is clicked, but no luck so far. Do you guys have any tips how to approach this? Is there any decent documentation out there regarding Android animations? The documentation I find is sketchy at best. For instance, I found examples that cause a view to slide into view automatically using TranslateAnimation and a LayoutAnimationController when calling "addView", but when I call removeView no animation seems to be triggered at all, even if I set an animation that should create the opposite motion.

• Is MDI Form focused?

  I've had so much luck developing my application... until now. My application's main form is a MDI parent, and I didn't think of adding any MDI children in my tests until tonight. To my surprise, the MDI parent seems to never "get focus" now. The Focus event and the OnFocus method are never called! I mean... it appears focused but none of the in-code focusing events/methods work. Instead a MDI child reports the focus. How do I fix this?

  Hi, I have various different content types and I want to filter by using views. So say a block only displays content posted in groups that you are a member of. I've created my generic view which so far displays all content of that type, but I'm struggling with linking this to content only posted in groups your a member of. I've looked at the Organic Groups filters but no luck there. I suspect I might need to use some sort of relationship but I'm stuck there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• What changed in the DataGrid that means it won't work anymore?

  I have a Silverlight app with a DataGrid containing some custom columns and all was working well. Then I updated to Silverlight 3 tools for VS 2008 SP1 and rebuilt it. Now it has the following problems: Rows aren't added when the collection is modified. The ItemsSource property is (and always has been) set to an ObservableCollection instance, which notifies when its contents change. This worked fine for Silverlight 2. However, in Silverlight 3 to get this working at all, I now have to null and then re-set ItemsSource - this seems like I'm hiding a bigger issue but I can't work out what that might be. I cannot select a row or a cell anymore. If I'm lucky, I can select one whole row before it stops working. I can't edit anything. I suspect this is related to the previous point. I'll post some source when I am able, but first I have to strip it down to the bare minimum. In the meantime, I was hoping someone might have some idea of what may be going on here. My gut feeling on the second two points is that my bindings are no longer working, but that's just a guess and if it is the case, I have no idea which ones. Thanks for any help anyone might be able to provide. Update So, I finally reduced my problem down to a simple works/doesn't work comparison. The problem seems to occur if I override Equals in my element type. As soon as I do that, something happens strangely in the ObservableCollection that contains that type, it seems, and my application breaks. To make it more interesting, there is a check to make sure that duplicate items don't even get close to being added to the collection. I don't exactly know why ObservableCollection needs to compare equality when inserting items (the stack trace indicates it is using IndexAt) but this seems to cause the issue. So, any thoughts?

• Binding to object properties in C++

  I've seen in WPF where you can bind control values to properties of other controls. How is that binding accomplished in C++? For example, if I have a class called Car and a guage control called RPM, how do I tie the value of RPM to the member variable Car.RPM, so that when Car.RPM changes, it is automatically (as in without a specific update call coded by me) reflected by the RPM control? General answers or directions to pertinent resources would be fine also, as I'm just beginning to dabble in C++ and haven't had much Google luck with this particular question.
