  I am working on a custom web part for Project Web Access, for Project Server 2007. We are so far using PSI web services only to read and write data from and to Project Server 2007 databases. But there is a signinficant performance issue when you retrieve time phased data through Statusing web service, it is basically an expensive call for querying time phased data for each tasks. I want to access Time phased data entered by user for each tasks by directly hitting the Project Server Database. [ I do not want the solution suggested at this link : http://blogs.msdn.com/project_programmability/archive/2007/05/24/getting-at-the-task-time-phased-data.aspx as it reads data from reporting database which gets entry only after the project is published. ] I want to get time phased data as soon as user enters it. • iPhone: How to read contents from UIWebView XML Document?

  Hi all. In my iPhone app I'm using a UIWebView to allow the user to browse to an XML document on a website. When the user has found the xml document they want, they click a button below the UIWebView. Then I try to read the contents of the XML document from the UIWebView using: NSString *xml = [webView stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString:@"document.getElementByTagName('rootXmlNodeName')[0].innerHTML"]; This doesn't work for me for XML documents. It works fine in a HTML page, e.g. using "html" for the rootXmlNodeName in the code snippet above. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

  Sorry for the long and yet still somehow vague title! A friend of mine has a Flash Action script running on a LAMP server that currently reads an xml config file. He's asked me if it's possible to remove the xml file, and replace it somehow with a system (lets call it an 'auto xml generator') that intercepts the request to read that file and generates an output, so it appears to all intents and purposes as if the file still exists and contains the contents that has actually been returned from our auto xml generator Hours of Googling has failed to come up with any promising leads, can anyone offer any advice? • Wait for function to finish before starting again.

  Good Morning, I am trying to call the same function everytime the user presses a button. Here is what happens at the moment.. User clicks button - Calls function - function takes 1000ms+ to finish (due to animation with jQuery and AJAX calls) What I want to happen is every time the user presses the button it adds the function to the queue, waits for the previous call to finish, and then starts.. Is this possible? Sorry if my explanation is a bit confusing.. Thanks Matthew

  OK, not entirely related to programming, so I'm sorry. But I'd like to know about this: So I've got a webapp. There's one column where a list of results are fetched from the database. When you click one, jQuery fetches the information associated with that result and puts it into the second column - all without a refresh and using Ajax. Is it possible for Google to still read it etc.? I understand it can follow links... but presumably not Javascript actions etc.? If this is the case, what do other Ajax-heavy websites do about search engine optimisation? Jack

• Is there a way to read what NSLog is writing from within the app?

  I have already tried stderr = stdout = fopen("/Users/Jared/Desktop/Untitled.txt", "w"); just as a test (obvi not production code) and this works fine for printf and some errors, but fails to redirect NSLog. I would like to be able to read what is being sent to NSLog as a string, and preferably prevent it from actually going into the system logs, although I don't particularly care if it has to. I need it to redirect logging from both my own code and apple's frameworks, which is why I can't just write a function that would append logs to a string. Thanks

  When you createa a PreferenceScreen on Android, your application creates a default SharedPreferences file for the settings. I want to read this name, or get a reference without specifing the name. Currently I use: SharedPreferences prefs = ctx.getSharedPreferences("prefs", 0); SharedPreferences.Editor ed=prefs.edit(); But this returns another copy of the preference. When I checked the folder in /data/data/myapk/shared_prefs I see two files, one named prefs.xml and the other is my [package name]_preferences.xml (this was created by the PreferenceActivity); How do I get an instance of the shared preference with the usage of the default file name, so I should not mention a name for it?

  Hey Overflow, I have an application which serves as a user interface for a spartan/command line program. I have the program running on a separate process, and my application monitors it to see if it is responding and how mush CPU it is utilising. Now I have a list of files in my program (listbox) which are to be sent to the application, which happens fine. But I want to be able to read text from the com-line so as to determine when the first file has been processed. Com-line says one of "selecting settings", "unsupported format" and "cannot be fixed". What I want to be able to do is when it says one of these three things, remove item(0) in listbox1. Is this possible? I thought of programming an event which handles com_exe.print or something or other, if possible.

• How do I limit the permissions of a C# program to read only on an SQLServer Database?

  Hi Guys, I have written some C# which connects to a live production database. I want to give my application read only access to the DB but am unsure how to achieve this. Is there any trivial way to get this done by amending the connection string? My understanding is that the application will logon with the credentials of the person running the application and hence may or may not have write access to the db based on that fact. Can I statically limit the permissions of the application so that if someone changes the program to do something devastating at a later date any manipulation will fail? • Can't read query string if default index file name is omitted?

  Is there an issue with IIS or ASP Classic where *Request.ServerVariables("QUERY_STRING")* returns blank if no default file name is given in the URL? On my local developer machine, I can do http://localhost/xslt/?opcs/abc which returns "opcs/abc". However, on our ancient web server, it returns nothing. I have to explicitly give it the default file name in the URL. Like so http://localhost/xslt/default.asp?opcs/abc While nothing too major, it is a little bit of a annoyance. One way I can maybe think of remidying the problem is have Javascript read the URL and return everything after the ?. Unfortunately, I do not know what version of IIS or ASP we are using. Thank you.

  Hi, I have a c# application that I have moved to a 64bit machine. This application reads in an Excel file for some data input. I would like to build this project as 64bit. Is there any way to have my program read in this file? I find it hard to believe that there is no way to use and Excel file as input into a 64bit app. I have installed Office 2010 64 bit as well as the 2010 Office System Driver Beta: Data Connectivity Components with no luck.   Imagine I have a csv with and each value is an integer. so the first value is the INTEGER 100. I want fscanf() to read this line, and either tell me it's an integer ONLY, or not. So, it would pass 100 but fail on 100t. What i've been trying to get work is "%d," where the comma is the delimiter of my CSV. so the whole function is fscanf(fp, "%d,", &count) Unfortunately, this fails to fail on '100t,' works on '100' and works on 't'. so it just isn't distinguishing between 100 and 100t (all of these numbers are followed by commas, of course

The following doesn't work, because the right angle bracket of the method call is interpreted as the closing angle bracket of the input reader: my $input = <$object->get_handle()>; That gets parsed as: my $input = ( < $object- > ) get_handle() >; which is obviously a syntax error. Is there any way I can perform a method call within an angle operator, or do I need to break it into two steps like this? my $handle = $object->get_handle(); my $input = <$handle>;
