Issues with simulating cell selection in Excel using PostMessage

Hi all, So far I've tried drag/drop motion in many applications including Visualization software (moving time slider left/right), Photoshop-Paint (drawing) etc. I need some more testing before I make sure that my system works and it failed in Excel. I'm using the code below to send the input: m.x = 215; m.y = 200 + 36 + 9 * ( currentTime - 1 ); childH = findChild( w->getHandle(), m ); PostMessage( childH, WM_MOUSEMOVE, 0, MAKELPARAM( m.x, m.y ) ); PostMessage( childH, WM_LBUTTONDOWN, MK_LBUTTON, MAKELPARAM( m.x, m.y ) ); m.x = 215; m.y = 200 + 36 + 9 * ( currentTime ); childH = findChild( w->getHandle(), m ); PostMessage( childH, WM_MOUSEMOVE, MK_LBUTTON, MAKELPARAM( m.x, m.y ) ); PostMessage( childH, WM_LBUTTONUP, 0, MAKELPARAM( m.x, m.y ) ); I can click anywhere in Excel and select the cell, or activate buttons/menus anything. I can even drag a plot around (with the code above) but it doesn't work for clicking and dragging the mouse to select multiple cells. It just doesn't do anything. I can't use SendInput because the window doesn't have the focus and is in background. Thanks!

How can I accomplish this?

Android: SurfaceView and Z-Level Question

I have a FrameLayout containint first a SurfaceView, and second a RelativeLayout which in turn contians various Buttons and TextViews. Upon the canvas of the SurfaceView I am drawing numerous Bitmaps, and, via Touch and Motion Events am allowing the user to drag them around. These Bitmaps, when dragged around pass underneath the Buttons etc that are inside the RelativeLayout. Now, it's my (possibly mistaken) understanding that the "Z-level" of the SurfaceView, or whatever it has that passes for it, is entirely unrelated to the actual Z-level of the rest of the Layout. Is this the case? If so, how may I get around it, so that dragged Bitmaps are drawn ontop of other Views? Or what other way can I implement a full-screen canvas and yet not have my buttons etc act like the controls of an overlay. I guess what I actually need is an underlay, where touch events can still be picked up by the Buttons etc underneath. But I don't know how to achieve this, as, when redrawing my Canvas, I have to also redraw the background. Can I swap the order of the RelativeLayout and the SurfaceView inside the FrameLayout, and then make the background of the Canvas transparent? If so how? Will touch events still "fall through" to the buttons underneath? Thanks for bearing with me, I know I'm a bit of a waffler.

OpenSSH connection trouble

Hi, I'm trying to use Putty 0.60 to log in to an OpenSSH 5.3 server. Connections with openssh from another Linux server are possible, but Putty fails. Putty's event log tells me "software caused connection abort" right after the DH key exchange, the server log doesn't report anything (set to INFO). I analyzed the traffic with Wireshark and got a whole bunch of "TCP retransmission" and "TCP DUP ACK" after said key exchange. Sometimes I was able to log in, but at some point (usually < 2 min.) the connection froze without any logged messages. Sadly, I didn't capture a trace. The server is my own (Funtoo with genkernel and gentoo-sources 2.6.34), so I may tweak it, but I'd still like to know what causes the error. Any suggestions? Thank you!

(Visual) C++ project dependency analysis

I have a few large projects I am working on in my new place of work, which have a complicated set of statically linked library dependencies between them. The libs number around 40-50 and it's really hard to determine what the structure was initially meant to be, there isn't clear documentation on the full dependency map. What tools would anyone recommend to extract such data? Presumably, in the simplest manner, if did the following: define the set of paths which correspond to library units set all .cpp/.h files within those to belong to those compilation units capture the 1st order #include dependency tree One would have enough information to compose a map - refactor - and recompose the map, until one has created some order. I note that http://www.ndepend.com have something nice but that's exclusively .NET unfortunately. I read something about Doxygen being able accomplish some static dependency analysis with configuration; has anyone ever pressed it into service to accomplish such a task?

Dont ask how this works but currently it does ("^\|(.?)\|*$")....kinda. This removes all extra pipes...part one....I have searched all over no anwser yet. I am using VB2011 beta...asp web form......vb coding though! I want to capture special character pipe (|) which is used to seperate words...i.e. car|truck|van|cycle problem is users lead with, trail with, use multiple, and use spaces before and after...i.e. |||car||truck | van || cycle. another example: george bush|micheal jordon|bill gates|steve jobs <-- this would be correct but when I do remove space it takes correct space out. so I want to get rid of whitespace leading, trailing, any space before | and space after | and only allow one pipe (|)....in between alphanumeric of course.

Pass HTML form entries into a Javascript array to then be written to a client side cookie?

I'm building a bit of a test-case JS application, something very basic, but have run into some problems. I'm trying to use a HTML form for a user to enter a number, which is then written to a Javascript Array. The user then has the option to write that same array to a local (client side) cookie. (I understand the security implications of this - it's a test-case and not for commercial use.) However, I can't make the connection - how can I capture the HTML entry, press 'submit' which will send it to a JS array, where the user can then press a different 'submit' which will write the array to a text file? If anyone can help I'd appreciate it because it's been nearly 6 hours and it's not funny anymore.

How to find scrollable elements in DOM using XPath?

Basically I need to find all elements on the page that have a scrollbar (vertical or horizontal) How to tell if an element has a scrollbar and can actually be scrolled? I found this code snippet on jsperf. Is it possible to capture the logic behind the code into and XPath expression? Or are there any other ways to check for scrollbars? Added: Just to explain what I'm trying to do: I'm developing extension for Firefox. Basically it introduces Vim-style mouseless shortcuts (I know there is Vimperator and Pentadactyl...). One of the features I'd like to implement is to allow the use to select the container that's scrolled with j/k keys. That's why I need to discover all scrollable elements on any given random page.

How to reduce the number of points in (x,y) data

I have a set of data points: (x1, y1) (x2, y2) (x3, y3) ... (xn, yn) The number of sample points can be thousands. I want to represent the same curve as accurately as possible with minimal (lets suppose 30) set of points. I want to capture as many inflection points as possible. However, I have a hard limit on the number of allowed points to represent the data. What is the best algorithm to achieve the same? Is there any free software library that can help? PS: I have tried to implement relative slope difference based point elimination, but this does not always result in the best possible data representation. Thanks for your time. -Gowtham

capturing click events on web-browser scrollbars

Hi, is it possible to capture a click event on a scrollbar? I have some code where i am observing the click and mousedown events on the document. However, it seems that when I click on the scrollbar, the event is not captured. This leads me to believe that the scrollbars aren't really part of the document. (Assumption :-)) Is this a correct assumption? Hi All, I am trying to automate installation of an application using Pywinauto.During the installation the last window shows some warning or error messages in few cases and later the system begins to restart.My objective is to capture the the Warning messages which is possible by app.top_window_()._ctrl_identifiers() np.Notepad.Edit.TypeKeys(a,with_spaces=True, with_tabs=True, with_newlines=True) This is returning a list which contains all the messages of the screen. idea Via jQuery, I was able to mark all :first-child and :last-child elements in document (well, almost all :)) with class first which could I later style (i.e. first li in ul#navigation would be easily adressable as ul#navigation .first). I used following code: var $f = $('*:first-child') $f.addClass('first'); var $l = $('body *:last-child') $l.addClass('last'); question Now, my question is if it's possible to do the same via php, so non-JS users/gadgets could have the same effects and additional styling and also it would be less overkill on browser. So, is it possible to capture output, parse it as html and inject this class easily in php?

Best canvas for drawing in wxPython?

I have to draw a graph of elements composing a topological model of a physical network. There would be nodes and arches, and the latter could be unidirectional or bidirectional. I would like to capture the clicking events for the nodes and the arches (to select the element and show its properties somewhere), and the dragging events for the nodes (to move them around) and arches (to connect or disconnect elements). I've done some research and I've narrowed the alternatives down to OGL (Object Graphics Library) and FloatCanvas. I would not like to go down to the DrawingContext, but it is not discarded if necessary. Which canvas option would you choose?

Need to get pixel averages of a vector sitting on a bitmap...

I'm currently involved in a hardware project where I am mapping triangular shaped LED to traditional bitmap images. I'd like to overlay a triangle vector onto an image and get the average pixel data within the bounds of that vector. However, I'm unfamiliar with the math needed to calculate this. Does anyone have an algorithm or a link that could send me in the right direction? I'm not even clear what this type of math is called. Calling software modules (Java, Perl, etc.) from R

I've recently started using R for Natural Language Processing tasks and find that a lot of applications are available in Java and Perl (for my purposes). For example: A few perl modules are available to find distance measures between words by querying Wordnet. I am aware of the R Wordnet package, but it does not perform the tasks that these CPAN modules do. Many Java packages for NLP are out there, which I'd like to use from within R. I know of rJava, RSPerl, the simple system command amongst others, but I'd like more examples of how I could make calls to Java and Perl applications from R. Recently I tried capturing console output from a perl script. cat( 'print "Hello World\n";',file="hello.pl" ) system(command="c:\Perl64\bin\perl hello.pl") system(command=paste(Sys.getenv("COMSPEC"),"/c","C:\Perl64\bin\perl hello.pl")) None of the above system commands showed 'Hello World' on the R console. I've used "system" before to run perl scripts to perform tasks without wanting to capture console output. Any hints and redirection to other more extensive sources of information would be highly appreciated. Thank you

Find which MFC child window would receive a mouse click

So, I have a plugin to an MFC program. I'm using a mouse event hook (from SetWindowsHookEx) to capture clicks. The host application can have any number of (possibly overlapping) child windows open, but I only want to intercept clicks in a particular child window. Is there a way to figure out in the hook proc which of the child windows would process the click? I guess it's something like enumerate all child windows, looking at Z-order, but I'm very unfamiliar with the MFC/Win32 libraries, and I'm not able to find any good discussion about how to enumerate all children and calculate which is topmost.

If this were a normal command line script, it would look like this: > MyTool.exe > output.txt > set /P MyVariable=<output.txt > echo %MyVariable% However, I can't seem to find anything relevant in the nmake doc on macros that is relevant. So, I have a screen capture utility (it takes full screen shots and saves it to png files) I've written, and it uses SM_CXVIRTUALSCREEN and SM_CYVIRTUALSCREEN to determine the width and height of the desktop. I then get the desktop DC and copy out the bits and save them as png. BitBlt( backDC, 0, 0, backBufferCX, backBufferCX, desktopDC, X_SRC, 0, SRCCOPY ); Here X_SRC is usually 0, UNLESS THE DESKTOP HAS BEEN EXTENDED "TO THE LEFT". In that case it needs to be -1280px, for example, if the left monitor measures 1280px. How can I determine if the desktop's starting point is negative (if the user has extended his desktop to the left?)

What I want to do is be able to call "crawl", execute a function in amazon, and use the exception handling in the crawl function. PHP Notice: Undefined index when looping array...

Hi, I'm looping a two-dimensional array like this: if (!empty($aka)) { foreach ($aka as $ak) { if($ak["lang"]=="es") { $sptitle=$ak["title"]; } } } Pretty simple. If the array ($aka) is not empty I loop trough it and when it finds that the "lang" index is equal to "es" I just save the "title" value for that index in $sptitle. The problem is that the array ($aka) contains a lot of information and sometimes there is no "lang" index... and I get this error: Notice: Undefined index: lang. How can I fix this??? This is a extract of the array to help you understand. Notice that [1] doesn't have a [lang] index but [2] does have: [1] => Array ( [title] => The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture [year] => [country] => USA [comment] => promotional title ) [2] => Array ( [title] => Señor de los anillos: La comunidad del anillo, El [year] => [country] => Argentina [comment] => Chile, Mexico, Peru, Spain [lang] => es ) Thanks!
