    Well, i need to make simulator for non-deterministic Push-Down Automaton. Everything is okey, i know i need to do recursion or something similar. But i do not know how to make that function which would simulate automaton. I got everything else under control, automaton generator, stack ... I am doing it in java, so this is maybe only issue that man can bump on, and i did it. So if anyone have done something similar, i could use advices.     I need to ensure that an application I am developing is accessable and also works with JavaScript turned off. I just need a pointer to assist with the following. I had 3 'chained' select boxes and I wanted JavaScript enabled clients to have a nice Ajax experience. I can easily write the required functionality to populate the chained boxes on the change event of the preceeding select using jQuery and JSON with a WCF service. However what about the non JavaScript client? Would I wrap a submit next to the select and place these inside their own form to post back with a certain action or different querstring parameter? Can the same controller give me a partial JSON response as well as feeding the full HTML response. Can anyone point me to a good demo that utilises both JSON and normal HTTP posts to produce the same result in ASP.NET MVC. All ASP.NET MVC demo/examples I see forget about the non JavaScript enabled client.

  • Non laggy movement in Flex or WPF

    I'm trying to learn something about 2D games programming. For this purpose I've downloaded many samples developed in: Flex and Microsoft WPF. I've noticed that all the animations / moving objects are kind of non-smooth. I've seen a Flex example with double buffering which solved the image flickering, but it was laggy too. WPF example too. Just to mentioned, all examples were drawing on Canvas. I'm just curious, is it possible to have a wonderful non-laggy movement on the GUI in Flash or WPF ? (e.g. like a real game, coded in C++)

    Has anyone come across an example of a non .Net consumer of an ADO.NET Data Service? I am on the second day of looking at what Astoria is and how it can be used. I am also trying to answer why would I use this instead of a web service? After getting my examples running, I kind get the RESTful approach to getting data out the system. And, plugging it into a .net client is incredibly easy. But, then I wondered how a non-.NET consumer would go about it. Any ideas (pointers) definitely appreciated...

However, I can with a const reference. long l; const long long &const_ref = l; // fine long long &ref = l; // error: invalid initialization of reference of // type 'long long int&' from expression of type // 'long int' Most problems I encountered were related to r-values that cannot be assigned to a non-const reference. This is not the case here -- can someone explain? Thanks.

  • Recommendations with hierarchical data on non-relational databases?

    I'm developing an web application that uses a non-relational database as a backend (django-nonrel + AppEngine). I need to store some hierarchical data (projects/subproject_1/subproject_N/tasks), and I'm wondering which pattern should I use. For now I thought of: Adjacency List (store the item's parent id) Nested sets (store left and right values for the item) In my case, the depth of nesting for a normal user will not exceed 4-5 levels. Also, on the UI, I would like to have a pagination for the items on the first level, to avoid to load too many items at the first page load. From what I understand so far, nested sets are great when the hierarchy is used more for displaying. Adjacency lists are great when editing on the tree is done often. In my case I guess I need the displaying more than the editing (when using nested sets, even if the display would work great, the above pagination could complicate things on editing). Do you have any thoughts and advice, based on your experience with the non-relational databases?

    I'm a total programming newb who started learning java programming this sem at uni. I'm up to a step where i need to copy some elements from one method to another. This program i'm creating is called an L_Game. The question I'm stuck is: the project(Slide other) method should take another slide as a parameter, and copy each non-space cell from this slide into the other slide (i.e. like a projector projecting slides onto a screen. I previously made a constructor with the parameter cells in it and believe i copied it to the project(Slide other) method. But i'm not sure what to do to copy each "non-space cell" With the "for" method or the "if" method? If my question isn't typed correctly or have information missing, please let me know. Any help will be appreciated. (I obviously have no idea with what i'm doing...)

    Hello. I have a problem. file_get_contents and other file functions (like file, fopen, glob etc) not working when i try to get file with non english symbols. I getting error that file not exist. It is going when i using any of that functions from my simple drupal module. But same time when i try to use file_get_contents outside drupal's code (just created separated php file) this function work as it should. Can you advice something?? What drupal doing so i can't use file functions on file with non english name from my module? Thanks.

    I'm having trouble adding an XmlElement to a non-root element in PowerShell. Basically, given this xml: <clubs> <club name="boca" position="1"> <field>bombonera</field> <field>bombonerita</field> </club> <club name="racing" position="19"> <field>cilindro</field> </club> </clubs> I create an element, $new = $clubs.CreateElement("Barracas") When I try to add this element to a non-root node i.e. $clubs.clubs.club += $new I get Cannot set "club" because only strings can be used as values to set XmlNode properties.   • Merging and splitting overlapping rectangles to produce non-overlapping ones

    I am looking for an algorithm as follows: Given a set of possibly overlapping rectangles (All of which are "not rotated", can be uniformly represented as (left,top,right,bottom) tuplets, etc...), it returns a minimal set of (non-rotated) non-overlapping rectangles, that occupy the same area. It seems simple enough at first glance, but prooves to be tricky (at least to be done efficiently). Are there some known methods for this/ideas/pointers? Methods for not necessarily minimal, but heuristicly small, sets, are interesting as well, so are methods that produce any valid output set at all.

    Hello all, I'm writing a program that simulates various random walks (with differing distributions). At each timestep, I need randomly generated, two dimensional step distances and angles from the distribution of the random walk. I'm hoping someone can check my understanding of how to generate these random numbers. As I understand it I can use Inverse Transform Sampling as follows: If f(x) is the pdf of our random walk that has a non-uniform distribution, and y is a random number from a uniform distribution. Then if we let f(x) = y and solve to find x then we have a random number from the non-uniform distribution. Is this a feasible solution?

    Everybody knows that java IO is blocking, and java NIO is non-blocking. In IO you will have to use the thread per client pattern, in NIO you can use one thread for all clients. Now my question follows: is it possible to make a non-blocking design using only the Java IO api. (not NIO) I was thinking about a pattern like this (obviously very simplified); List<Socket> li; for (Socket s : li) { InputStream in = s.getInputStream(); byte[] data = in.available(); in.read(data); // processData(data); (decoding packets, encoding outgoing packets } Also note that the client will always be ready for reading data. What are your opinions on this? Will this be suitable for a server that should at least hold a few hundred of clients without major performance issues?

  • Accessing Java Connector Architecture (JCA) from a Non-Managed environment

    Hi, We have been using a JCA to interface with a low-level network resource from within WebSphere, however we have a requirement to be able to access the same network resource externally from Tomcat (i.e. not in a managed environment). The network communication and protocol layouts is very verbose, so we would rather not copy/paste several thousand lines of code (and then have to maintain them separately). From reading the JCA spec, there is supposedly some support to execute the code in a non-managed environment (such as Tomcat). Unfortunately, I have no idea what the interfaces are supposed to do, or how to call them from outside a managed environment (the spec is pretty vague). Are there any implementation examples out there that show how to modify a JCA to be usable in a non-managed environment? Thanks!

    I've got some non-copyable classes. I don't invoke any of the copy operators or constructor, and this code compiles fine. But then I upgraded to Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate instead of Professional. Now the compiler is calling the copy constructor- even when the move constructor should be invoked. For example, in the following snippet: inline D3D9Mesh CreateSphere(D3D9Render& render, float radius, float slices) { D3D9Mesh retval(render); /* ... */ return std::move(retval); } Error: Cannot create copy constructor, because the class is non-copyable. However, I quite explicitly moved it.

  • Proxy server modifying request/response upon pass through

    I would like to set up a non-transparent proxy server that will selectively modify HTTP requests and responses as it passes them through. The motivation for wanting to modify the data on the fly and not at the original source are not part of the question. I'm hoping there is a solution which allows the modification scripts to be written in a mainstream programming language. I am aware of guides for Squid which allow you to flip images etc on the way through but I was hoping for a slightly more established and less hackish solution. Does anyone know of an established open source project or environment (Any major platform) which would allow me to script in arbitrary modifications to the data being passed through?

  • Strange characters appearing on websites - ASCII? - UNICODE?

    I have created many very simple pure HTML websites over the years. Most of them appear to work fine most of the time. But there is one recurring problem which I have never quite sorted out involving strange characters. The scenario goes like this: I create the site. I look at it in my browser, everything appears fine. I may look at it a great many times over the coming weeks or months as I make additions here and there. Perhaps on a variety of browsers on a variety of PC's. Then one day I look at the page and see a random sprinkling of white question marks against dark diamond shapes. These might appear where I had expected to see hyphens or quotes or apostrophes. My immediate thought is that my browser got into some strange state because I was looking at some foreign website with strange characters, but I'm never quite sure. I'm left with that nagging feeling that perhaps half the planet is seeing my website with funny question marks all over it. So my question is what's going on? What should I do to ensure that as many people as possible around the world can view my text as I originally intended? Should I be using those special html sequences like &pound; for all non alphanumeric characters? Should I worry at all? Edit: Right now I have the problem occurring on this page: http://www.fullreservebanking.com/papers.htm ... part of it looks like this: I am using FireFox 5 and the character encoding currently appears to be "UNICODE (UTF-8)". I do not remember manually setting the character encoding to anything since installation. I do occasionally look at Japanese websites for work related reasons - though when I do so, I do not manually make any changes to firefox settings. Edit: Now fixed. Web page altered accordingly.

    MAC G4/1.5GHz/2GB/1TB+ OS10.4.11 Start up Volume has been erased/complete reinstall with updated software. Current problem only occurs when printing to an Epson Artisan 800 [USB as well as Ethernet connected] when using Macromedia FreeHand 10.0.1.67. All other apps/printers work fine. Memory has been removed/swapped/reinstalled several times, CPU was changed from 1.5GB to 1.3GB. Page(s) will print, but application quits within a second or two after selecting "print." Apple has never replied, Epson hasn't a clue, and I am befuddled!! Perhaps there is GURU out their who and see a bigger-better picture and understands how to interpret all of this stuff. The "Compiling Vim" page linked from there was for Linux, so the commands doesn't even work on Solars. But it did hint at logging the output of ./configure to a file, so I did that. Here it is: ./configure output removed. New version further down. Does anyone spot anything critical missing? EDIT 2: So I downloaded the vim package from sunfreeware. I couldn't just install it, since I don't have root privileges, but I was able to extract the package file.
