jQuery Ajax call for buttons on a list

I have a list of data that i have in a view from an asp.net mvc application. It's a list of stock and I have two images (a plus and a minus) on the end of each row which will allow me to increase or decrease stock quantity. It works fine at present with a call to the mvc action but since the list is long I want to use jQuery and AJAX to have the call go without a refresh. I want to do this with unobtrusive javascript so don't want onclick handlers on my images. Since I'm just starting out with jQuery I have no idea how I can iterate all the images and add the function. Jquery tabs with cookie support restore wrong tab position after page refresh.

Hello, all. I have tricky problem which I can't completely understand... It's jquery tabs with cookie support. I've following code: $(document).ready(function() { var $tabs = $("#tabs").tabs(); $tabs.tabs('select', $.cookie("tabNumber")); $('#tabs ul li a').click(function() { $.cookie("tabNumber", $tabs.tabs('option', 'selected')); }); $('#btnSelect').click(function() { //alert($.cookie("tabNumber")); //$tabs.tabs('select', 2); $tabs.tabs('select', $.cookie("tabNumber")); }); }); So, I've 3 tabs (with positions 0,1,2) inside div named "tabs". When user selects one tab, then tab position stores in cookie. After that if user refresh page, active tab position must be restored. But each time I refresh page I get active tab in previous position (if I select 2nd tab, then after refresh I got active tab in position 1, etc.). I add some test in code (button btnSelect with onclick handler which duplicates load position functionality). So, if I uncomment and use $tabs.tabs('select', 2); Then after I click btnSelect I've got right position. Ok, that's right. Then I comment that line and uncomment next one: alert($.cookie("tabNumber")); So, I select tab, click button, get dialog message "2", and after that tab in position 1 became active. Why?? In both cases I call 'select' method with parameter 2... I know I can use aliases for tabs, but I want to understate why my code doesn't work properly.

Website. VoteUp or VoteDown Videos. How to restrict users voting multiple times?

Im working on a website (html,css,javascript, ajax, php,mysql), and I want to restrict the number of times a particular user votes for a particular video. Its similar to the YouTube system where you can voteUp or voteDown a particular video. Each vote involves adding a row to the video.votes table, which logs the time, vote direction(up or down), the client IPaddress( using PHP: $ip = $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']; ), and of course the ID of the video in question. Adding votes is as simple as; (pseudocode): Javascript:onClick( vote( a,b,c,d ) ), which passes variables to PHP insertion script via ajax, and finally we replace the voteing buttons with a "Thank You For Voting" message. THE PROBLEM: If you reload/refresh the page after voting, you can vote again, and again, and again, you get the point. MY QUESTION: How do you limit the amount of times a particular user votes for a particular video?? MY THOUGHTS: Do you use cookies, and add a new cookie with the id of the video. And check for a cookie before you insert a new vote.? OR Before you insert the vote, do you use the IPaddress and the videoID to see if this same user(IP) has voted for this same video(vidID) in the past 24hrs(mktime), and either allow or dissallow the voteInsertion based on this query? OR Do you just not care? Take the assumption that most users are sane, and have better things to do than refresh pages and vote repeatedly.?? Any suggestions or ideas welcome.

Android - Take a photo, save it in app drawables and display it in an ImageButton

I have an Android app with an ImageButton. When user clicks on it, intent launches to show camera activity. When user capture the image, I'd like to save it in drawable folder of the app and display it in the same ImageButton clicked by the user, replacing the previous drawable image. I used the activity posted here: Capture Image from Camera and Display in Activity ...but when I capture an image, activity doesn't return to activity which contains ImageButton. HTML input not working correctly with AJAX update panels used else where on page

I have some update panels on my page that do some asyncpostbacks to keep some dropdownlists correctly populated. My problem is that on my page i have an HTML input that is handling some file uploads. With the AJAX on the page with asyncpostbacks, and while i step through my code behind, the files arent being uploaded. Using a postbacktrigger (non-async) is not possible because of my layout. Ajax response takes time and status is 503

guys, i have a html page where onclick of a button a ajax request is sent to server , the request calls a jsp page which runs an oracle procedure.The procedure runs the logic and places it in a temp table . once procedure is completed , the values are returned to the client by selecting values from tmp table. as the response is too late . the data is not received at the client side. solution: i tried to run the procedure in a separate thread using a ajax call. when the procedure is completed a global flag is set to indicate that the data is generated. if the response is 500 , a second ajax call invoked by timeout function after 10000 ms . the second call checks the global flag ,if true then reads from table and sends the response. if not again a timeout is set at the client side. this solution is not mature enough. , as the procedure may take long time to respond. please let me know a good solution for this problenm?

I simply cannot understand this, because they are not in the same scope, and changing a variable should under no circumstances trigger anything? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Making a button click and process using javascript with Asp.Net

I'm having two buttons and one button is hidden. Now when I click the visible button I need to do two things 1.Open Iframe. 2.Automatically make the 2nd Button(Hidden)to be clicked. form target iframe not working in IE7- in facebook fan tab

This issue is similar to the one discussed in this thread, only mine is in a Facebook fan page tab (FBML/FBJS). The fix described in the referenced question works fine outside of Facebook, but for whatever reason I can't get it to work in the posted FBJS. Problem prompting user for extended permissions using showPermissionDialog in FB page tab

I have an FBML app that will use the tab as a promo tab before the full app goes live. The purpose of the promo tab is to allow users to opt in to email notifications (using the FB API sendNotifications call), so I need to prompt them to allow the app and grant extended permissions on that promo tab. Grant extended permissions (intab)</a></h1> The result.php page just tags the API to ensure the allow prompt will show up. The problem is with the Step 2. Once the user has allowed the app, and they click on the Step 2, nothing happens. If they click on it twice, THEN the extended permissions dialog box popups up, but it asks them to grant extended permissions TWICE. OR.... If the user clicks on Step 1, and allows the app, and then reloads the fan page tab, they only have to click on the Step 2 link once, and the permissions show up. Anyone have any ideas? I have been beating myself in the head over this for hours.

eclipse error with android: id cannot be resolved or is not a field

Hi, I just started playing around with android development, and already with just an attempt at making a button, I have encountered a problem. The error I'm given in the following code is right on "R.id.button1". It says id cannot be resolved or is not a field. Do I need to manually reference every single object I make in the layout xml file? Updating Embedded Video in Firefox

I am working on a Videos page where my intention is to load a video with the page but by clicking a link, the original video will be updated and replaced with the corresponding video. For instance, if video1 loads with the page and the user clicks to view video2, the original div's innerHTML holding video1 is updated to play video2. Now, I have works great in IE and Chrome but nothing loads at all in Firefox. Below are some snippets of my code. Any idea how to load these videos in a manner that Firefox supports? And on a smaller note, every time a link in clicked in IE, a '#' is added into the title bar. So clicking three or four videos would result in the page title being followed up with three or four # signs.

Javascript memory leak/ performance issue?

I just cannot for the life of me figure out this memory leak in Internet Explorer. insertTags simple takes string str and places each word within start and end tags for HTML (usually anchor tags). transliterate is for arabic numbers, and replaces normal numbers 0-9 with a &#..n; XML identity for their arabic counterparts. fragment = document.createDocumentFragment(); for (i = 0, e = response.verses.length; i < e; i++) { fragment.appendChild((function(){ p = document.createElement('p'); p.setAttribute('lang', (response.unicode) ? I am sure this is the problem, because without it everything runs fast (but nothing displays). I've read that doing a lot of DOM manipulations can be dangerous, but the for loops a max of 286 times (# of verses in surah 2, the longest surah in the Qur'an).

jQuery slideToggle jump on close

Hi, I'm trying to slideToggle a in a table with jQuery and it works in FF, OP, CHrome. Only IE (6,7,8) is giving me problems. It slides down perfectly down and up, but after the slide up animation is finished. The hidden pops up in full height and then closes. So I guess it must be somwhere inbetween when it switches from a minimal height to "display:none" that it appears for a short second.
