    What is the maximum rated bandwidth for ZigBee? I can't seem to find this information anywhere, not even on the ZigBee Alliance website at http://www.zigbee.org/ I did find some information elsewhere, but it dated back to 2004, so I'm guessing it's different now that it was 5 years ago.   • Where is xorg.conf in Ubuntu 10.04?

    Hi Guys, I'm in the middle of trying to setup dual monitors on ubuntu and would like to backup my xorg.conf... The documentation I've been thus far say to do the following: sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf_backup But I don't see the xorg.conf file anywhere... Am I missing something? Where is this located?

  • VLAN ID 4095 for guest VLAN tagging

    Just want to know if it's true that if you use the VLAN ID 4095 for guest VLAN tagging, then vMotion will not work correctly as there is nowhere to pass back the reverse arp to? So, the problem we have noticed is when we have vmotioned VM's that are tagged on our trunk network, you cannot ping them from anywhere between 30-300 seconds. The hosts don't know which VLAN the guest is on. Is this right and also the correct behaviour? Thanks

  • What do you use to store all of your personal data?

    I have been on a quest for years to find the perfect tool to store all "my stuff". You know... personal information, code snippets, software keys, people's birthdays, whatever. There are lots of tools out there for this sort of thing, but I've never found any of them quite what I need. Ideally, I would just be able to type some notes, tag them (I don't like the idea of folder organization... too cumbersome) and then easily search and retrieve what I need later. It seems so simple, but for some reason I just can't find it. I currently use Backpack (sometimes), which is OK, but I hate the fact that you always have to create "pages" to store things. I don't want to have to do that. I want to just type some notes, tag it and save. That's it. And Backpack didn't even have search for a long time. What I do like about Backpack is that it's fast and it's web based. I've tried some desktop apps, which probably came closer to the functionality I want, but I just hate being tied to a single machine. I want to be able to get to my stuff anywhere, so the web based thing is a definite requirement. Anyway, I'm thinking about writing my own thing for this if I can't find anything, but before I make the attempt, I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions? I've used Backpack, Zoho Planner, Stikkit and Google Notes so far, and they are not quite to my liking. Anyone? (Sorry if this is off-topic, but I figured you guys might be legitimately into this kind of thing... you know, storing code snippets and such.) UPDATE: I've been using Evernote for a few days, and it is exactly what I've been looking for. It is totally tag based and allows both online and offline usage. The desktop app sits in your system tray and allows you to add whatever you want on the fly either as text notes or clippings from the browser. It also syncs it to the web (if you want) where you can get to it from anywhere using their web client. They even have a mobile client which I haven't used, but I will try it soon.   • OSX's built-in VNC server disconnects me randomly, but frequently

    I've been using OSX's VNC service to connect remotely from a Windows XP box, via TightVNC. Everything seems to work normally, except that frequently - anywhere from ten seconds to ten minutes - the connection locks up entirely, without any sort of error message. The only solution is to reconnect and wait for it to lock up again. How can this be fixed permanently?

    i was always wondering how many simaltinues users can a 3G tower supports with its data rates? i mean they advertize 28.8Mb/Sec for the 3G Data but in reallity if a lot of people use it say 10 , it wont give 288Mb/Sec bandwidth. i didnt find anywhere where such information is published so i thought to ask here. dont know why the cell operators keep it such a secret :)

    Is there anywhere an available static build of ffmpeg with all encoder/decoders libs for Linux (not a source tarball, but a binary) ? Although this question seems trivial, I spent the last half hour looking for it, without any success. EDIT I'm looking for binary to be run on x86 Suse 10 systems. Notice I can't use local package manager as all update repositories have bene removed by admin (to avoid uncontrolled software update).

  • Windows server backup question

    Hi, Is it possible to make a backup of my Windows Server from the built-in Microsoft tool, but as long as my Hyper-V backups are stored safely and not backed up anywhere, I can still restore my Windows Server from the native backup and use the Hyper-v machines? So if I lost my C:\ and my VMs are stored remotely, I can restore from an earlier backup and use those VMs.

    I had recently replaced a failing hard drive on my software raid 1 system with suse 10.1 , and i am checking for any warning messages on " var/log/warn " and i found this message "avahi-daemon[3201]: Invalid query packet." more than 12 times , i am new to these stuff , should i be concerned , is there something wrong with the system , can i check anywhere else to find out if there is any problem with the system.   • Bacula backup on Linux, restore on FreeBSD

    I'd like to migrate my storage server from Linux (Debian) to FreeBSD. Biggest part of this is restoring backups saved on Linux to tape volumes on the newly installed FreeBSD. Unfortunately I don't have anywhere to test this on at the moment but I'd like to ask you if you're aware of any incompatiblities or Bacula specific settings that should be used to make this as smooth of a process as possible.

    Hi, My VPS mail server can get email from anywhere but other email account of the server. For example i have two accounts; email at domain.com email2 at domain.com when i send to email at domain.com from email2 at domain.com (using smtp.com relays) i cant recieve the message even though i can see it s been sent on smtp.com panel. any idea ?

    I use both chrome and firefox at the same time. As I always open Gmail first and then use the Reader link in upper left conner of Gmail to open Google Reader, I noticed that chomre hides the Google Reader Link. I can't find it anywhere in Gmail. Why doesn't chrome behave differently?

  • gvim Cannot make changes, 'modifiable' is off issues with file explorer.

    In gvim using netrw(the file explorer), I usually middle click a file to open it in the last active window. This just leads to an error stating "Cannot make changes, 'modifiable' is off". Another middle click, and the file opens fine where I expect it to. All buffers are saved, there's no uncommuted changes anywhere. What causes this, and what can I do about it ?   • Trying to setup phpUnderControl but missing phpcb

    Hi, I'm trying to setup phpUnderControl on Ubuntu 10.04 following this tutorial http://techportal.ibuildings.com/2009/03/03/getting-started-with-phpundercontrol/. I get to the part where it says to type in sudo phpuc example /opt/cruisecontrol but recieve the following error: Missing cli tool 'phpcb', check the PATH variable. I did a little googling but can't seem to find reference of a phpcb anywhere. Does anyone know what this is and where I might get it? Thanks.

As we have a SAN for the VMs themselves, can we get away with cheap controller / SATA disk in raid-1 for the hypervisor ? We won't boot from the SAN as it seems prone to problems. Thanks, Chris

  • What the hell was THAT?!?

    My system is Windows XP SP3, updated with the latest patches. The PC is connected to a Cisco 877 ADSL router, which does NAT from the internal network to its single static public IP address. There are no forwarded ports, and the router's management console can only be accessed from the inside. I was doing two things: working on a remote office machine via VPN and browsing some web pages on the Cisco web site. The remote network is absolutely safe (it's a lab network, four virtual servers, no publicly accessible services and no users at all; also, none of what I'm going to describe ever happened there). The Cisco web site... well, I suppose is quite safe, too. Suddenly, something happened. Strange popups appears anywhere; programs claiming they're "antimalware", "antispyware" et so on begins autoinstalling; fake Windows Update and Security Center icons pop up in the system tray. svchost.exe began crashing repeatedly. Then, finally, after some minutes of this... BSOD. And, upon rebooting, BSOD again. Even in safe mode. Ok, that was obviously some virus/trojan/whatever. I had to install a new copy of Windows on another partition to clean things up. I found strange executables, services and DLLs almost anywhere. Amongst the other things, user32.dll and ndis.sys had been replaced. A fake software called "Antimalware Doctor" had been installed. There were services with completely random names or even GUIDs (!), and also ones called "IpSect" and "Darkness". There were executable files without an .exe extension. There were even two boot-class drivers, which I'm quite sure are the ones that finally caused the system to crash. A true massacre. Ok, now the questions: What the hell was that?!? It was something more than a simple virus! How did it manage to attack my computer, as I am behind a firewall and was not doing anything even only potentially harmful on the web at the time?

    Firefox adoption in the home/personal user base seems to be growing fine, but adoption in the enterprise is not going anywhere quickly. My view on this is because SysAdmins are not promoting it within the organisations because Internet Explorer has features which make it more acceptable to an enterprise, such as Managing settings via GPO Integration into the rest of the update stack Support of common business applications So what would you add to Firefox to get it more promotion by SysAdmins in the enterprise?

  • Big IP F5 Basics (show run/show conf/term len 0)

    I've tried to find the basics in a Big IP manual but it seems to me the device is marketed towards GUI users only. Meanwhile I want to write a few scripts to automate tasks on the load balancer. Namely: how do I turn off more - when I issue a command I want the output to stream out without waiting for me to press a key for the next page how do I show the running configuration (I think list all is the way to do it but cannot find it documented anywhere) Thanks!
