• How can I pre-authorize authopen?

  I'm using authopen inside one of my programs to modify files owned by root. As can be seen in the screenshot below authopen asks for a admin password. What I'd like to achieve is that the dialog shows my app's name and then passes the authorization to authopen. • Is there a way to make sure a background process spawned by my program is killed when my process ter

  Basically the child process runs indefinitely until killed in the background, and I want to clean it up when my program terminates for any reason, i.e. via the Taskmanager. Currently I have a while (Process.GetProcessesByName("ParentProcess").Count() 0) loop and exit if the parent process isn't running, but it seems pretty brittle, and if I wanted it to work under debugger in Visual Studio I'd have to add "ParentProcess.vshost" or something. Is there any way to make sure that the child process end without requiring the child process to know about the parent process? I'd prefer a solution in managed code, but if there isn't one I can PInvoke. Edit: Passing the PID seems like a more robust solution, but for curiosity's sake, what if the child process was not my code but some exe that I have no control over? Is there a way to safeguard against possibly creating orphaned child processes?

• Behavior of a pipe after a fork()

  When reading about pipes in Advanced Programming in the UNIX Environment, I noticed that after a fork that the parent can close() the read end of a pipe and it doesn't close the read end for the child. When a process forks, does its file descriptors get retained? What I mean by this is that before the fork the pipe read file descriptor had a retain count of 1, and after the fork 2. When the parent closed its read side the fd went to 1 and is kept open for the child. Is this essentially what is happening? Does this behavior also occur for regular file descriptors?

• How can arguments to variadic functions be passed by reference in PHP?

  Assuming it's possible, how would one pass arguments by reference to a variadic function without generating a warning in PHP? We can no longer use the '&' operator in a function call, otherwise I'd accept that (even though it would be error prone, should a coder forget it). What inspired this is are old MySQLi wrapper classes that I unearthed (these days, I'd just use PDO). Answers don't even need to be written in terms of MySQL_stmt_throwing; it exists simply to provide a concrete example.

  Hello. I have created new a view controller in my project (ActivateController). But still, when I perform (on pressedActivate): [self.navigationController pushViewController:activateController animated:YES]; Nothing happens. I have done it successfully many times before. What might be wrong? P.S. pressedActivate is executed for sure (I used NSLog to check).

• Cannot format first column in WxPython's ListCtrl

  If I set the format of the first column in a ListCtrl to align centre (or align right) nothing happens. It works for the other columns. This only happens on Windows - I have tested it on Linux and it works fine. Does anyone know if there is a work-round or other solution? • php curly braces groups

  is there a function or regex or anything to group items by a { and } tag? so it should group items by the opening tag { and the closing tag }. but be careful, there are also groups inside parent groups like so: group { text1 group2 { text2 } } so basically think of it like php, you make an opening tag, you need to close it with a closing tag, curly braces in php's case. i just need it to like substr() each group into an associative array somehow, except I cant figure it out with the whole, "group inside a parent group".

• Nhibernate Criteria Ignore Child Collection

  I have a simple one to many association in my model. The parent class has a collection of children. In the mapping files, the association is a one to many, eager-loaded, using fetchmode.join. This works fine, but how can I write a criteria query but NOT trigger the loading of the child collection? In other words, I want to query the parent and not have it generate the join in the resulting sql. I tried setting the fetch mode to lazy, but in that case Nhibernate generates two separate queries. I don't want the table for child queried at all.

  I have an app, where there's a UITabBar with 5 tabs. When user shakes the device, I want the UINavigationBar to push an UIImageView. When I show the UIImageView, I need to hide both tab and nav bars. After that, when user taps the UIImageView, the NavBar appears again and user can go to the UIImageView's parent view. I make the Nav Bar appear like this: [[self navigationController] setNavigationBarHidden:NO animated:YES]; But in two tabs I have to make the Nav Bar appear, so user can switch to UIImageView's parentView and then, when the parent view appears, hide the nav bar. How can I do it?

• Silverlight 4 DataBinding: Binding to ObservableCollection<string> not working anymore

  Upgrading from SL3 - SL4. First problem: this throws a parser exception: <StackPanel Name={Binding} /> (same with x:Name) Collection is ObservableCollection<string>. Worked fine in SL3. So it seems that SL4 doen't allow binding to the Name property. Huh? So: changed to <StackPanel Tag={Binding} /> ... since I just need to ID the control in code behind. • RubyQt Crashing on QTableWidget

  I'm getting some weirdness with QtRuby when using a TableWidget. The table widget loads, but when you click on the elements in the row, the app segfaults and crashes. require 'Qt4' class SimpleModel < Qt::AbstractTableModel def rowCount(parent) return 1 end def columnCount(parent) return 1 end def data(index, role=Qt::DisplayRole) return Qt::Variant.new("Really Long String") if index.row == 0 and index.column == 0 and role == Qt::DisplayRole return Qt::Variant.new end end Qt::Application.new(ARGV) do Qt::TableWidget.new(1, 1) do set_model SimpleModel.new show end exec end The backtrace seems to imply that it is bombing in mousePressEvent #6 0x01624643 in QAbstractItemView::pressed(QModelIndex const&) () from /usr/lib/libQtGui.so.4 #7 0x016306f5 in QAbstractItemView::mousePressEvent(QMouseEvent*) () from /usr/lib/libQtGui.so.4 If I override mousePressEvent and mouseMoveEvent, these kinds of crashes no longer happen. Am I doing something wrong over here, or can I chalk this up as a bug in QtRuby? I'm on fedora11, with the following packages installed: QtRuby-4.4.0-1.fc11.i586 ruby-1.8.6.369-1.fc11.i586 These crashes also happen when running the script on Windows.

• Populating fields in modal form using PHP, jQuery

  I have a form that adds links to a database, deletes them, and -- soon -- allows the user to edit details. I am using jQuery and Ajax heavily on this project and would like to keep all control in the same page. In the past, to handle editing something like details about another website (link entry), I would have sent the user to another PHP page with form fields populated with PHP from a MySQL database table. How do I accomplish this using a jQuery UI modal form and calling the details individually for that particular entry? • Storyboard elements are not sized properly on the device

  In the storyboard, I am placing a table view element into a subclassed UIView. The element is not appearing on the iPad device I am running it on the same as it appears in the storyboard however. This also happens for additional content that I place into the storyboard. Below is a screenshot as it appears in the storyboard, as well as UI width/height information. And here is the description of the UI file running on the iPad. https://gist.github.com/4323186 (embedding it directly into the post is giving me problems) You'll notice that the tableview is explicitly set at 178 width, and is showing up in the description as 276 width. My initial thought was that perhaps a cell was forcing the parent to be larger (I'm very new to iOS UI development), but drilling into that shows the prototype cell it appears that the width is defined by it's parent at 178. The image views and label also are appearing in the incorrect spot, as shown in the second image below.

• Sort an array by a child array's value

  I have an array composed of arrays. I want to sort the parent array by a property of the child arrays. Here's an example array(2) { [0]=> array(3) { [0]=> string(6) "105945" [1]=> string(10) "First name" [2]=> float(0.080878465391) } [1]=> array(3) { [0]=> string(6) "109145" [1]=> string(11) "Second name" [2]=> float(0.0504154818384) } I would like to sort the parent array by [2] ascending in the child arrays, so in this case the result would be the child arrays reversed (.05, 08). Is this possible using any of the numerous PHP sort functions?

• How can I loop through posts as well as child pages to display them all by date in Wordpress 2.9

  Some background info -- In wordpress I have my portfolio as a parent page with each item of work a child page. I also have a blog. I want to display the most recent 6 items on the homepage whether they are from my portfolio or my blog. I have a loop that displays the posts and on another page I have a loop that displays the child pages of a specific parent page. I only need to display the_title and the_post_thumbnail. Is it possible to loop through both the posts and the child pages and display them in order of date (recent first). So the final display would be a mixture of posts and child pages. Could it be done by having a separate loop for pages and one for posts, then somehow adding the results to an array and then pull them out in date order (recent first). Any help would be greatful.   Hi, 1) In symbian c++ thread is not recommended. Instead of that they recommend active object for multi tasking. Presently I am using QT to develop a application in symbian. Since there is no active object in QT I thought of using thread. My question is , can I use thread, is it is recommended. If it is not recommended, how to achieve multitasking. 2) I have created a sample thread class as shown bellow. When I call test function from the constructer of the main window thread will start but UI will be in hung state, infact main window itself will not be displayed.
