What my requirement is, i wish to load user names from DB in dataset, convert it to JSON format and store it in memory or using jQuery data for use while a user is browsing my site, i.e for a session.   Even if I have different modules in my jee application including myproject-web and myproject-ejb; is it possible to call (or inject) my ejb session bean which is in the ejb module from a managed bean which is in the web module? • Facebook and a stateless server

So when Facebook gives me a session which has to be maintained at the server this way my server won't be stateless. When I'll load balance I can't have a simple load balancer instead it would need to know which users are on which server, something I don't want. Any Ideas?

• Saving Variables In An ASP Page

My Problem is that I have a lot "private" variables in my WindowFormApplication and those variables are important for the game. But when after I Declare all my variables (in my Page_Load), they turn null no matter what I do(click a button, refresh the page). Is there anyway to save my variables between buttons (other than Session, because I'd have to create like 6 more sessions)

  Hey, im using a connection to a server in my php script, opened with fsockopen() and i want it to share between different pages so i serialized it and saved it in a session variable but it seems that that ia a bad idea because when i do this nothing happens... Not even an error. The problem is that this connection requires a handshake so i cant reconnect everytime Another question, whats the timeout of fsockopen or does the connection stay alive if the. original php script which called it is closed?

• Pass PHP variables without being seen when working with a database generated list

  Looking for any help regarding the problem. Here's the deal: I have a database that has a teams table and it contains team_id. On one of my pages, I generate a list of links that contain the team_id of the creator in their get URL. I need the team_id on the next page but can't figure out how to pass it through any other way. Using a form and POST isn't an option because this method would only pass through the last links data on the list. Storing in a session isn't an option either because there is no way to discretely pass the the variables I need to a function to set the session variables. I have tried and it can pretty easily be viewed from viewing the source code. So here's some sample code to see exactly what I'm dealing with. <? if(mysql_num_rows($result2)>0){ ?> <a class="fltrt btn btn-danger btn-small" onclick="test()" href="acceptmatch-exec.php?match_id=<?php echo $match_id; ?>&team_id=<?php echo $team_id;?>&action=cancel">Cancel Match</a> <?}else{?> <a class="fltrt btn btn-success btn-small" href="acceptmatch-exec.php?match_id=<?php echo $match_id; ?>&team_id=<?php echo $team_id;?>&action=accept">Accept Match</a> <?} ?> The code above is generated multiple times on a page via a while loop that was excluded. I want to pass the match_id and team_id variables without being seen anywhere. If I made this a form, it wouldn't pass the correct variables unless there is only one result at the time (not likely). I'm sure there has to be an easy method that is eluding me, so please share thoughts on how to solve this. I feel as though I am not explaining it well enough, but it's not really easy to explain. I basically want something that works like GET but acts like POST and can be hidden from people viewing source code or link locations. Thanks

  I am excited AND nervous at the same time. I am going to present a very interesting topic tomorrow at an SQL Server track in India. This will be my fourth time presenting at TechEd India. So far, I have received so much feedback about this one session. It seems like every single person out there has their own wishes and requests. • chrooting user causes "connection closed" message when using sftp

  First off I am a linux newbie so please don't assume much knowledge. I am using CentOS 5.8 (final) and using OpenSSH version 5.8p1. I have made a user playwithbits and I am attempting to chroot them to the directory home/nginx/domains/playwithbits/public I am using the following match statement in my sshd_config file: Match group web-root-locked ChrootDirectory /home/nginx/domains/%u/public X11Forwarding no AllowTcpForwarding no ForceCommand /usr/libexec/openssh/sftp-server # id playwithbits returns: uid=504(playwithbits) gid=504(playwithbits) groups=504(playwithbits),507(web-root-locked) I have changed the user's home directory to: home/nginx/domains/playwithbits/public Now when I attempt to sftp in with this user I instantly get the message: connection closed Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? • Have to login twice. PHP sessions and login troubles with Chrome and Opera.

  The problem I am encountering is that for my login form I have to login twice for the session to register properly, but only in Chrome (my version is 4.0.249.89) and Opera (my version is 10.10). Here is the stripped down code that I am testing on: Login Page: session_start(); $_SESSION['user_id'] = 8; $_SESSION['user_name'] = 'Jim'; session_write_close(); header('Location: http://www.my-domain-name.com/'); exit(); Home Page: session_start(); if ( isset($_SESSION['user_id']) ) { echo "You are logged in!"; } else { echo "You are NOT logged in!"; } Logout Page: session_start(); session_unset(); session_destroy(); header('Location: http://www.my-domain-name.com/'); exit(); Currently, under a fresh load with no cookies, if I go to my-domain-name.com/login/ it will redirect to the home page and say "You are NOT logged in!" but if I go there again it will say "You are logged in!".   I have a site that is using Forms Auth. The client does not want the site session to expire at all for users. This solution was working for a while on our servers - now it's back. The problem doesn't occur on my local dev box running Cassini in VS2008. Any ideas on how to fix this?

• Working With Extended Events

  SQL Server 2012 has made working with Extended Events (XE) pretty simple when it comes to what sessions you have on your servers and what options you have selected and so forth but if you are like me then you still have some SQL Server instances that are 2008 or 2008 R2. For those servers there is no built-in way to view the Extended Event sessions in SSMS. I keep coming up against the same situations – Where are the xel log files? What events, actions or predicates are set for the events on the server? What sessions are there on the server already? I got tired of this being a perpetual question and wrote some TSQL to save as a snippet in SQL Prompt so that these details are permanently only a couple of clicks away. First, some history. If you just came here for the code skip down a few paragraphs and it’s all there. If you want a little time to reminisce about SQL Server then stick with me through the next paragraph or two. We are in a bit of a cross-over period currently, there are many versions of SQL Server but I would guess that SQL Server 2008, 2008 R2 and 2012 comprise the majority of installations. With each of these comes a set of management tools, of which SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) is one. In 2008 and 2008 R2 Extended Events made their first appearance and there was no way to work with them in the SSMS interface. At some point the Extended Events guru Jonathan Kehayias (http://www.sqlskills.com/blogs/jonathan/) created the SQL Server 2008 Extended Events SSMS Addin which is really an excellent tool to ease XE session administration. This addin will install in SSMS 2008 or 2008R2 but not SSMS 2012. If you use a compatible version of SSMS then I wholly recommend downloading and using it to make your work with XE much easier. If you have SSMS 2012 installed, and there is no reason not to as it will let you work with all versions of SQL Server, then you cannot install this addin. If you are working with SQL Server 2012 then SSMS 2012 has built in functionality to manage XE sessions – this functionality does not apply for 2008 or 2008 R2 instances though. This means you are somewhat restricted and have to use TSQL to manage XE sessions on older versions of SQL Server. OK, those of you that skipped ahead for the code, you need to start from here: So, you are working with SSMS 2012 but have a SQL Server that is an earlier version that needs an XE session created or you think there is a session created but you aren’t sure, or you know it’s there but can’t remember if it is running and where the output is going. How do you find out? Well, none of the information is hidden as such but it is a bit of a wrangle to locate it and it isn’t a lot of code that is unlikely to remain in your memory. I have created two pieces of code. The first examines the SYS.Server_Event_… management views in combination with the SYS.DM_XE_… management views to give the name of all sessions that exist on the server, regardless of whether they are running or not and two pieces of TSQL code. One piece will alter the state of the session: if the session is running then the code will stop the session if executed and vice versa. The other piece of code will drop the selected session. If the session is running then the code will stop it first. Do not execute the DROP code unless you are sure you have the Create code to hand. • Is the usage of Isolated Storage in Silverlight 3 a security concern

  I am using Silverlight 3 on my website. I have a Login Page for role based authentication, that routes users with different privileges to different parts of the website. I want to use something analogous to the Session Variables available in standard ASP.Net applications. I intend to use Isolated Storage to achieve this. But I am skeptical about security in this option, as the Isolated Storage exists on the client side, and can be manipulated on client side. I am new to the Isolated Storage concept and don't know about the security options provided by it in terms of Encryption and server-side validation etc. If any of you have used it or are aware of the security provided in this case, could you please shed some light on the same.   i have my first aspx page that has data thatthe user fills in. it is in format of textbox's and at the end of it all the user clicks submit and all data goes in the database. In the database each record gets an ID field. Now when the users clicks submit and goes to the next page, i want the ID's (they could be 1 to 1000+) from the DB that he just inserted and have them available on the second page. how can i take all the id's from page 1 to page 2? can i do it in session? or something else. Please put some sample code so i can understand better.

• Keep-alive for long-lived HTTP session (not persistent HTTP)

  At work, we have a client-server system where clients submit requests to a web server through HTTP. The server-side processing can sometimes take more than 60 seconds, which is the proxy timeout value set by our company's IT staff and cannot be changed. Is there a way to keep the HTTP connection alive for longer than 60 seconds (preferably for an arbitrarily long period of time), either by heartbeat messages from the server or the client? I know there are HTTP 1.1 persistent connections, but that is not what I want. Does HTTP have a keep-alive capability, or would this have to be done at the TCP level through some sort of socket option?

• Oracle 9i Session Disconnections

  [Cross-Posting from ServerFault] I am in a development environment, and our test Oracle 9i server has been misbehaving for a few days now. What happens is that we have our JDBC connections disconnecting after a few successful connections. We got this box set up by our IT department and handed over to. It is 'our problem', so options like 'ask you DBA' isn't going to help me. :( Our server is set up with 3 plain databases (one is the main dev db, the other is the 'experimental' dev db). We use the Oracle 10 ojdbc14.jar thin JDBC driver (because of some bug in the version 9 of the driver). We're using Hibernate to talk to the DB. The only thing that I can see that changed is that we now have more users connecting to the server. Instead of one developer, we now have 3. With the Hibernate connection pools, I'm thinking that maybe we're hitting some limit? Anyone has any idea what's going on? • How to Maintain per-Client State in a WCF Service?

  I've created a WCF service in which I would like it to maintain state between calls from the client. I figured the easiest way to do this was to add this attribute to the service: [ServiceBehavior(InstanceContextMode = InstanceContextMode.PerSession)] since this is supposed to keep a separate service alive for each client over the life of the client proxy (or timeout in the extreme case). I also added a test function that tracks a list of user inputs, and spits out a concatenated string with all the inputs over the life of the service. When I run this in the test client generated by visual studio, I find that the list I was using to hold past data is reset with each call. Is there something else I need to do to maintain state per session?

  On a MVC 2 website what I want to do is get a list of products / CategoryId. From that list, create a list of distinct CategoryId's. Then randomly pick a categoryId from the second list and use it to get all the products for that categoryId. I then want to store that CategoryId so that I don't display those products on the next run. I don't need any code examples to start. What I'm wondering is that I think I would put this code in a class in my model (Dll) and store the list of displayed CategoryId's in session. Is this a good solution or should I go another way? • Best practice for storing global data in PHP?

  Hi I'm running a web application that allows a user to log in. The user can add/remove content to his/her 'library' which is displayed on a page called "library.php". Instead of querying the database for the contents of the users library everytime they load "library.php", I want to store it globally for PHP when the user logs in, so that the query is only run once. • CPU and profiling not supported for remote jvisualvm session

  When monitoring a remote app (using jstatd) I can neither profile nor monitor cpu consumption. Heap monitoring (provided I do not use G1) works. jvisualvm provides the message "Not supported for this JVM." in the CPU graph window. Is there anything missing in my setup? The google showed up next to no results.
