• Oracle 9i Session Disconnections

  [Cross-Posting from ServerFault] I am in a development environment, and our test Oracle 9i server has been misbehaving for a few days now. What happens is that we have our JDBC connections disconnecting after a few successful connections. We got this box set up by our IT department and handed over to. It is 'our problem', so options like 'ask you DBA' isn't going to help me. :( Our server is set up with 3 plain databases (one is the main dev db, the other is the 'experimental' dev db). We use the Oracle 10 ojdbc14.jar thin JDBC driver (because of some bug in the version 9 of the driver). We're using Hibernate to talk to the DB. The only thing that I can see that changed is that we now have more users connecting to the server. Instead of one developer, we now have 3. With the Hibernate connection pools, I'm thinking that maybe we're hitting some limit? Anyone has any idea what's going on? • MVC Design Question

  On a MVC 2 website what I want to do is get a list of products / CategoryId. From that list, create a list of distinct CategoryId's. Then randomly pick a categoryId from the second list and use it to get all the products for that categoryId. I then want to store that CategoryId so that I don't display those products on the next run. I don't need any code examples to start. What I'm wondering is that I think I would put this code in a class in my model (Dll) and store the list of displayed CategoryId's in session. Is this a good solution or should I go another way?   We have created a WCF service hosted in a windows service that handles Authentication requests. The only behavior is : ServiceMetadataBehavior smb = new ServiceMetadataBehavior(); smb.HttpGetEnabled = true; selfHost.Description.Behaviors.Add(smb); Our clients are able to authenticate succesfully 10 times then we get the error The operation has timed out When we increase the MaxConcurrentSessions = 50 then our clients can authenticate 50 times before we see the error. Clearly sessions are not being closed after the authentication call is made can anyone tell why this might be happening?

  Hi I'm running a web application that allows a user to log in. The user can add/remove content to his/her 'library' which is displayed on a page called "library.php". Instead of querying the database for the contents of the users library everytime they load "library.php", I want to store it globally for PHP when the user logs in, so that the query is only run once.   Hi folks, I wish to authenticate a user without having the page reloaded, and having the user submit a given form. However, the problem that I immediately run into here is that the authenticity token typically gets set when the page is reloaded. I need the authenticity token for the form submission, but i do not have it yet because the page is yet to reload. I figure this cannot be that rare - anyone has any idea on how to resolve this? 1 idea could be getting rails to pass back the authenticity token after authentication, but i do not know how to access it from the controller 1) not logined user sees form 2) not logined user types in message and submit 3) facebox asking for authentication 4) after authentication, submit form automatically without refreshing 5) //but authenticity token is needed for form submission, which is not there yet

• CPU and profiling not supported for remote jvisualvm session

  When monitoring a remote app (using jstatd) I can neither profile nor monitor cpu consumption. Heap monitoring (provided I do not use G1) works. jvisualvm provides the message "Not supported for this JVM." in the CPU graph window. Is there anything missing in my setup? The google showed up next to no results.   I have a JSONP WCF service,using back end as MySql.It is working properly when i run it locally with visual studio. Now we have hosted it in Windows Server 2003. Now there is very strange problem occurring.. When I do a request with fiddler which does not require much processing internally, it gives me result 200 OK with desired output as response, But when I do a request which requires some internal data processing, it gives me 504 error(gateway time out error). • What effects drawing charts/diagrams from $_SESSION data under php5, which worked under php4?

  Hello, I have a script generating 3 diagrams from $_SESSION variables which work fine under php4 with register_globals = off, but when I parse the same script as php5 I get no diagram. The diagrams a drawn from GD libary and it works, if I set the data into an Array (manually filled) within the script file. But I need a way to get it work on php5, without much changes. Are there any SESSION settings or php-settings which might interfere with my script. I already checked a lot of the php-settings (changing php.ini over and over again), but found nothing what brings me the diagrams back. Hopefully someone of you could kick me into the right direction. Any Ideas? Thanks a lot.

Example: Lets say I have a timer on my page, that executes some javascript every 20 seconds. The execution time for the timer handler is 1 second. Does firefox and ie treat each call of the timer function seperatly, so it never goes over the limit, or is it that firefox/ie adds up the time of each call so after the handler finishes, so after 200 seconds on my site (with the timer called 10 times) an error occurs even though the timer handler itself is only 1 second long?

• Can't authenticate with different NTLM credentials in one session with java.net.URLConnection

  When I access a HTTP server using the standard Java API (java.net.URLConnection), the credentials are "cached" after the first successful authentication, and subsequent calls to Authenticator.setDefault() have no effect. So, I need to restart the application in order to use different credentials. I don't observe this effect when Basic Authentication is used. But I need to use NTLM for the server I'm accessing, and the Jakarta Commons HttpClient isn't an alternative either because it doesn't support NTLMv2 (see http://oaklandsoftware.com/papers/ntlm.html) Looking at the packets using Wireshark, I also observe that before the first successful authentication, an authentication with the current Windows credentials is attempted first. But after succesful authentication, only the saved credentials are used. Is there any way to reset or change the credentials java.net.Authenticator is using after a successful NTLM authentication?

• EJB3 Caching Instance Variables

  Hi, I've noticed some strange code on a project I am working on - its a SLSB EJB3, and it uses a private instance variable to maintain a cache of data (it even calls it dataCache or something), with a getter/setter. For EJB2 and bellow, this was a typical EJB antipattern - SLSBs are not meant to retain state in between invocations, theres no guarantee you'll see the same data on a subsequent invocation. One of my colleagues said maybe its ok in EJB3 (we don't have much EJB3 experience), but still, its a Stateless Session Bean - why is it trying to maintain state, this doesn't make sense. Can anyone confirm if this is still a bad idea in EJB3 land, or if somehow it is ok? Thanks if you can help, Justin

  I have a asp.net web form which will submit information to come as emails. Whenever user fill the form and click on submit button,the information user entered will be sent as email. This web form has 4 page. but the web form will not use all 4 page on all requests. if the user select a particular value in first page, the form will bypass the 3rd page and go the last 4th page(like...page1,2,4). IF it is any other values selected in the first page. form will navigate as page1,2,3,4. So now my problem is when multiple users access the same website, the value in the first page get combines from different users and the form will act abnormally.Sometime it will bypass sometimes it will not bypass the page3 Show below is the variable decalrations: Public strRoleType As String = String.Empty Protected Shared isAreaSelected As Integer = 0 Protected Shared isStoreSelected As Integer = 0 Protected Shared isHeadOfficeSelected As Integer = 0 Protected Shared isRegionSelected As Integer = 0 I guess the problem is with strRoleType variable whether it is getting values from different users. • Is it possible to attach a debugging session to a running program in eclipse CDT

  I'm writing a netscape iplanet plugin (on solaris/C using eclipse) which is basically a shared object with specific entry points, and I'd like to be able to debug the shared object with eclipse's debugger (gdb). I remember doing something similar in AIX where you could make xldb attach to a running process. Is it possible to get eclipse to run gdb to attach to a running binary? And should I expect grief because I want to debug a dynamically loaded piece of code?

  I have a wcf service consumed by a silverlight 3 control. The Silverlight client uses a basicHttpBindinging that is constructed at runtime from the control's initialization parameters like this: public static T GetServiceClient<T>(string serviceURL) { BasicHttpBinding binding = new BasicHttpBinding(Application.Current.Host.Source.Scheme.Equals("https", StringComparison.InvariantCultureIgnoreCase) ? Calls were returning as expected until the result set increased to several thousand rows at which time HTTP 401.1 errors were received. The Service's HttpBinding defines closeTime, openTimeout, receiveTimeout and sendTimeOut of 10 minutes. If I limit the size of the resultset the call suceeds. Additional Observations from Fiddler: When Method2 is modified to return a smaller resultset (and avoid the problem), control initialization consists of 4 calls: Service1/Method1 -- result:401 Service1/Method1 -- result:401 (this time header includes element "Authorization: Negotiate TlRMTV..." Service1/Method1 -- result:200 Service1/Method2 -- result:200 (1.25 seconds) When Method2 is configured to return the larger resultset we get: Service1/Method1 -- result:401 Service1/Method1 -- result:401 (this time header includes element "Authorization: Negotiate TlRMTV..." Service1/Method1 -- result:200 Service1/Method2 -- result:401.1 (7.5 seconds) Service1/Method2 -- result:401.1 (15ms) Service1/Method2 -- result:401.1 (7.5 seconds)
