• How do you install Castle Windsor IOC?

  I'm currently reading Pro ASP.NET MVC Framework by Sanderson. In the book he recommends setting up IoC using Castle Windsor, and he points out that the download automatically installs it and registers the Castle DLLs in the GAC. Well, at this point in time (5/4/2010), the Castle Project no longer has a downloadable installer that sets this up. Its all broken out into their individual subprojects with the raw files contained in zipped folders. Sadly there's no installation documentation that I can find about how to set it up. Being the noob that I am, I'm stuck and now forced to ask #1 where should castle windsor live on my hard drive? #2 how do I manually register the dlls properly? • How can I flush the output of disp in Octave?

  I have a program in Octave that has a loop - running a function with various parameters, not something that I can turn into matrices. At the beginning of each iteration I print the current parameters using disp. The first times I ran it I had a brazillion warnings, and then I also got these prints. Now that I cleaned them up, I no longer see them. My guess is that they're stuck in a buffer, and I'll see them when the program ends or the buffer fills. Is there any way to force a flush of the print buffer so that I can see my prints?

• Silverlight Project - Setting Reference to Copy Local false not working.

  Why is it that when my Silverlight project is built, the output directory contains a bunch of culture specific directories: ar\System.Windows.Controls.resources.dll bg\System.Windows.Controls.resources.dll ca\System.Windows.Controls.resources.dll etc etc etc Also the root of the build output contains: System.Xml.Linq.dll System.windows.Controls.dll I have gone through the projects in my solution and made sure that "Copy Local" is set to false for all the referances of the mentioned dll files. Those 2 files were set to true, but I did switch them to false. Despite my effort to google an answer, I remain stuck.

• Session bug using facebook-connect-with-authlogic in Rails

  I'm trying to follow this article: http://ryanbigg.com/2010/03/testing-facebook, but I'm stuck. I think the problem is with my session, in that the current_usermethod comes up with nil for session[:facebook_session]. According to the original authlogic, it says to use the active_record_store for sessions: # config/environment.rb config.action_controller.session_store = :active_record_store # db/schema includes create_table "sessions", :force => true do |t| t.string "session_id", :null => false t.text "data" t.datetime "created_at" t.datetime "updated_at" end The article calls for the use of cookies. I'm confused; can I use cookies and the active record sessions? I'm also confused by the use of cattr_accessor :current_user from within the User model -- current_user still goes in the application controller, right? Please help.

• Best Practise for Writing a POS System

  Hi, I'm putting together a basic POS system in C# that needs to print to a receipt printer and open a cash drawer. Do I have to use the Microsoft Point of Service SDK? I've been playing around with printing to my Samsung printer using the Windows driver that came with it, and it seems to work great. I assume though that other printers may not come with Windows drivers and then I would be stuck? Or would I be able to simply use the Generic/Text Driver to print to any printer that supports it? For the cash drawer I would need to send codes directly to the COM port which is fine with me, if it saves me the hassle of helping clients setup OPOS drivers on there systems. Am I going down the wrong path here? Thanks, Gary

• BroadCast Messages to multiple client on the same machine

  I need to have a server on one machine that broadcasts a message sever second or so, Kind of like a service discovery. The message needs to be received by multiple client processes that could be on the same machine or different machines. Im using delphi7, with indy 9.0.18 where im stuck is if i should be using UDP or IP MultiCast or if its even possible... Ive managed to get it to work with IP Multi Cast with one client per machine, but even after many trys with different bindings.. max/min ports etc, i cant seem to find a solution.

• Creating a common selector class with UITableView or UIPicker

  I have several places in my app where I need to select a Foo for further processing from a list of Foo objects. I'd like to do this as a modal view, but neither UIPicker nor UITableView seems to lend itself to the standard approach, since the usual way to do a modal view controller involves setting the parent view controller up as the delegate, and both of those classes need to implement data source protocols, etc. Implementing the data source and selection protocol methods in my parent view controller defeats the purpose of trying to use one common class for implementing this modal selector screen all over my app. Does anyone have any solutions to this problem or am I effectively stuck implementing this selector class over and over again?

• C# Pragma to suppress break on thrown error

  First off I run my applications with exceptions thrown on any error (handled or not). Second I am using a TypeConverter to convert from a user input string to the actual object. I'm hoping there may be some way to disable breaking for the section of code within the try without changing my exception settings.

• Opening a local file in Eclipse from the web

  Right now, when I notice a problem on a page on my PHP web site, I have to look at the URL, mentally deduce what file is responsible for displaying that page, then navigate the Eclipse PDT file tree to open that file. This is annoying and uses brain power that could have been applied to solving the issue instead. I would like my PHP web site to display on every page a link that I could click to automatically open the correct file in Eclipse. I can easily compute the complete absolute path for the file I need to open (for example, open C:/xampp/htdocs/controllers/Foo/Bar.php when visiting /foo/bar), and I can make sure that Eclipse is currently open with the correct project loaded, but I'm stuck on how I can have Firefox/Chrome/IE tell Eclipse to open that specific file.

• insert a BLOB via a sql script ?

  Hi, I have an H2 database (http://www.h2database.com) and I'd like to insert a file into a BLOB field via a plain simple sql script (to populate a test database for instance). I know how to do that via the code but I cannot find how to do the sql script itself. I tried to pass the path , i.e. INSERT INTO mytable (id,name,file) VALUES(1,'file.xml',/my/local/path/file.xml); but this fails. Within the code (java for instance), it's easy to create a File object and pass that in, but directly from a sql script, I'm stuck... Any idea ? David

The error message I get is: NameError: name 'validators' is not defined I've looked over the documentation, perhaps I didn't delve deep enough but I can't seem to find an example for email validation.

I've uploaded all source txt files onto my own server : results folder I got the output from using several bash commands in a "chain" like this: cat run*.txt | grep '^Bank[[:space:]]Balance'| cut -d ':' -f2 | grep -E '\$[0-9]+' I know this is far from the most concise and efficient, but at least it works... As our uni subject now moves onto the Perl part, I'd like to know if there is a way to get the same results in one line?   hey folks, I'm setting up a keyword search across multiple fields: name_first, name_middle, name_last but I'm not getting the results I'd like. Here's the query: "SELECT accounts_users.user_ID, users.name_first, users.name_middle, users.name_last, users.company FROM accounts_users, users WHERE accounts_users.account_ID = '$account_ID' AND accounts_users.user_ID = users.id AND CONCAT_WS(' ', users.name_first, users.name_middle, users.name_last) LIKE '$user_keyword%' ORDER BY users.name_first ASC" So, if I've got three names in the DB: Aaron J Ban Aaron J Can Bob L Lawblaw And if the user_keyword == "bob lawblaw" I get no result. If user_keyword == "bob L" then it returns Bob L Lawblaw. Obviously I can't force people to include the persons middle name in their keyword search but I'm stuck for the proper way to do this. All help is greatly appreciated.

  Hi Experts out there, I'm stuck at dll imports with the c++ dll and i really need help to get over this. Here is the function in the c++ dll that i want to call from my VB.net code. bool LoadNewTestPlan(const char* szPlanFileName=" "); I've tried many ways in my VB.net but always getting the error : "Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt." I have tried passing in byte(), Marshalling with LPStr, SafeArray and nothing works. • Python 'datetime.datetime' object is unsubscriptable

  First, I am NOT a python developer. I am trying to fix an issue within a python script that is being executed from the command line. This script was written by someone who is no longer around, and no longer willing to help with issues. This is python 2.5, and for the moment it cannot be upgraded. Here are the lines of code in question: start_time = datetime.strptime(str(paf.Start),"%Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S") dict_start = datetime(*start_time[:6]) end_time = datetime.strptime(str(paf.End),"%Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S") dict_end = datetime(*end_time[:6]) When this code is ran, it generates an error with the description: 'datetime.datetime' object is unsubscriptable. This is the import statement: from datetime import datetime I have a feeling that this is something simple, but not being my native language and Google not yielding any valuable results, I am stuck. I have tried a couple of different import methods, yielding different errors, but all with these statements. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

  Hey everyone, What I am trying to do is pass the raw content of an outgoing email to spamassassin in order to calculate a spam score. I am stuck in how I might get the raw content of the email. My C# code currently just constructs the MailMessage and passes it the SmtpClient's Send() method. Before sending, is there a way to get a raw version of the mail message (as the protocol might see it) so that I can pass this to the spamassassin tool for spam assessment? I have done lots of R&D to find formula which gives me distance between two points. I also need shortest route which is possible. I have reviewed online tools which allow user to calculate the distance. But I want to do the same at my own. I have reviewed Port World Distance Calculator. I reviewed the Great Circle formula to achieve that but I don't know that how we avoid landscapes in sea distance and in which direction I need to find distance for second port.

• Eclipse: Subclipse "Edit Conflicts"

  I have found that when using Subclipse to edit conflicts, all my syntax color settings are preserved except for the background color, which is reset to the standard white. Using my particular color scheme makes it almost impossible to read any of the text when stuck with a white background. Is there anywhere I can change this default background color? There doesn't seem to be any way to do this from the preferences window, but perhaps there is a config file somewhere I could edit? Any help would be very much appreciated (my eyes will thank you too)!

  I want to implement a Hierarchical data bound control for ASP.NET. I used Implementing IHierarchy Support Into Your Custom Collection as a basis to create my hierarchical collection. I also created a HierarchicalDataSourceControl for the collection. Everything works: I can bind it to an ASP.NET TreeView and it renders the data correctly. However, I'm stuck on the HierarchicalDataBoundControl. I found examples, but I am still too new at c# / .Net to understand them. I don't quite understand how to implement the examples: Rendering a databound UL menu nor HierarchicalDataBoundControl Class Does anyone have any tips, or better examples of implementing a control like this?

• jQuery File Save As dialog for dynamic content

  Hi, I've a servlet that is invoked via jquery ajax. The resulting XML is then transformed using XSL and displayed on screen. Now, the requirement is to either print or save this content to the local machine. The print portion is working fine but I'm stuck at the Save As part. How do I do this using jquery/javascript? I'm using IE8/XP. I tried document.execCommand('SaveAs'); on button click but it doesn't seem to work in IE8. It shows the alerts I put in till that point, but doesn't bring up the dialog box. What's going wrong here?

  Hello, I'm using a Objective-C Scripting Bridge to communicate with InDesign CS3/CS4. Unfortunately I'm stuck on Save command which appears to be existing only as a part of the standard suite and not defined again in InDesign. Because of that it looks like I can Save, Save as but not Save Copy a document. Does anyone have any idea how to proceed? Just to shortly explain the difference between Save and Save Copy - using Save Copy the current doc doesn't change which is opposite to Save or Save as.

• Sound Effects/Manipulation?

  Hello, I am creating an android app that basically records an applies an "Effect" on the audio track then plays it back. I got my app to record an play back but I am stuck an not sure where do go from here. I have been Googling for days now trying to find a open source audio library or some way to change the audio after I record it. I currently have it setup to play back using SoundPool an I't lets me speed up an slow down the audio. I would like to do things like change pitch an add echo etc. I will appreciate any responses because I am totally stumped right now. Thanks Adam
