  • Visual Studio 2010: Publish minified javascript files instead of the original ones

    I have a Scripts folder, that includes all the .js files used in the project. Using the Ajax Minifier task, I generate .min.js files for each one. Depending on whether the application is running in debug or release mode, I include the original .js file, or the minified one. The Scripts folder looks like this: Scripts/script1.js Scripts/script1.min.js // Outside the project, generated automatically on build Scripts/script2.js Scripts/script2.min.js // Outside the project, generated automatically on build The .min.js files are outside the project (although in the same folder as the original files), and they are not copied into the destination folder when we publish the project. I have no experience whatsoever using build tasks (well, apart from including the minifier task), so I would appreciate if anyone could advise me as to which would be the correct way to: Copy the .min.js files to the destination folder when I publish the app from Visual Studio. Delete / Not copy the original js files (this is not vital, but I'd rather not copy files that will not be used in the app). Thanks,

  • ScheduledThreadPoolExecutor executing a wrong time because of CPU time discrepancy

    I'm scheduling a task using a ScheduledThreadPoolExecutor object. I use the following method: public ScheduledFuture<?> schedule(Runnable command, long delay,TimeUnit unit) and set the delay to 30 seconds (delay = 30,000 and unit=TimeUnit.MILLISECONDS). Sometimes my task occurs immediately and other times it takes 70 seconds. I believe the ScheduledThreadPoolExecutor uses CPU specific clocks. When i run tests comparing System.currentTimeMillis(), System.nanoTime() [which is CPU specific] i see the following schedule: 1272637682651ms, 7858346157228410ns execute: 1272637682667ms, 7858386270968425ns difference is 16ms but 4011374001ns (or 40,113ms) so it looks like there is discrepancy between two CPU clocks of 40 seconds How do i resolve this issue in java code? Unfortunately this is a clients machine and i can't modify their system.

    Suppose a program is running with elevated privileges already, and it needs to see the contents of the System Volume Information folder, and by default, only NT Authority\System can do that. A workaround would be to change ACL's on the folder, but I don't want to mess with that. I already found two ways to do it: the task scheduler and psexec. They are too indirect, I don't even need to describe the first one, and the second one works by installing a windows service, running it, telling it to run whatever I wanted to run, then uninstalling the service. Now the question is: is there a direct, simple WinAPI function to run something as system? I don't think that such an API would circumvent the security restrictions, as an administrator I have the right to schedule a task or install a service, so there must be a shortcut.

  • Linux Kernel - Adding field to task_struct

    I'm playing around with the linux kernel and added a struct field to the task_struct in sched.h. I know that can be costly but my struct is very small. I then initialize the new struct in INIT_TASK() and also re-initialize in fork.c copy_process() function so that when the INIT task or any other task creates a new process the process gets the init values. What then happens is when I try to run the kernel I get a SEGFAULT. The gdb error is: Locating the bottom of the address space ... Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x08066ad7 in page_ok (page=) at arch/um/os-Linux/sys-i386/task_size.c:31 31 n = *address; It looks like it fails out in task_size. Is there anything else I need to do to add a field to task_struct?

  • Excel Add-in memory explosion

    I wrote a small .NET add in to excel 2007 that read data from external c++ api and display it inside an excel. The task manager shows that I'm having a memory leak (the memory usage is inflate linearly up to 250MB after whitch it throws an "Excel cannot complete this task with available resources error") but the problem disappears as soon as I minimize the excel window. The api uses delegates to return data and I update it into a dictionary. another thread is updating the excel from the dictionary every second. It is unlikely that the unmanaged code is responsible of the leak. Does anybody have an idea what can cause this? 10x!

So because the page's controls' events run between the page's load and prerender events, is it true that whatever the begin task handler (handler for BeginAsync below) produces, it can't be used in the controls' events? So for example, if the handler gets data from a database, the data can't be used in any of the controls' postback events? Would you bind data to a data control after prerender?   • What Use are Threads Outside of Parallel Problems on MultiCore Systesm?

    Threads make the design, implementation and debugging of a program significantly more difficult. Yet many people seem to think that every task in a program that can be threaded should be threaded, even on a single core system. I can understand threading something like an MPEG2 decoder that's going to run on a multicore cpu ( which I've done ), but what can justify the significant development costs threading entails when you're talking about a single core system or even a multicore system if your task doesn't gain significant performance from a parallel implementation? Or more succinctly, what kinds of non-performance related problems justify threading? Edit Well I just ran across one instance that's not CPU limited but threads make a big difference: TCP, HTTP and the Multi-Threading Sweet Spot Multiple threads are pretty useful when trying to max out your bandwidth to another peer over a high latency network connection. Non-blocking I/O would use significantly less local CPU resources, but would be much more difficult to design and implement.

    Hi, I have to create a hash of the form h[:bill] = ["Billy", "NA", 20, "PROJ_A"] by login where 20 is the cumulative number of hours reported by the login for all task transactions returned by the query where each login has multiple reported transactions.   • Catching KeyboardInterrupt when working with PyGame

    I have written a small Python application where I use PyGame for displaying some simple graphics. I have a somewhat simple PyGame loop going in the base of my application, like so: stopEvent = Event() # Just imagine that this eventually sets the stopEvent # as soon as the program is finished with its task. disp = SortDisplay(algorithm, stopEvent) def update(): """ Update loop; updates the screen every few seconds. """ while True: stopEvent.wait(options.delay) disp.update() if stopEvent.isSet(): break disp.step() t = Thread(target=update) t.start() while not stopEvent.isSet(): for event in pygame.event.get(): if event.type == pygame.QUIT: stopEvent.set() It works all fine and dandy for the normal program termination; if the PyGame window gets closed, the application closes; if the application finishes its task, the application closes. The trouble I'm having is, if I Ctrl-C in the Python console, the application throws a KeyboardInterrupt, but keeps on running. The question would therefore be: What have I done wrong in my update loop, and how do I rectify it so a KeyboardInterrupt causes the application to terminate?

  • What technologies are appropriate for a human workflow system?

    I'm researching various workflow architectures and it is overwhelming. The workflow system I am creating will be almost completely human-driven. Very little, if any, asynchronous activity will be taking place. One possibility is to simply use a RDBMS and have a task table, from which stored procedures would be used to enforce synchronous access to each task. This seems very simple, but I'm having a hard time coming up with reasons why I might need to involve a heavier solution. If my system has ~500 concurrent users, and there is very little in the way of automated or asynchronous tasks, should I even consider the various workflow patterns/packages out there like Mule, BPEL/SOA, Spring Work Flow, etc?

These states are: 10 - Completed 11 - Incomplete 12 - Skipped The state is available through a property called "TaskStateID".   • Is this possible with Sql 2005 CTE?

    I have been working on a query that will return a suggested start date for a manufacturing line based on due date and the number of minutes needed to complete the task. There is a calendar table(LINE_ID, CALENDAR_DATE, SCHEDULED_MINUTES) that displays per manufacturing line, the number of minutes scheduled for that day. Example: (Usually 3 shifts worth of time scheduled per day, no weekends but can vary) 1, 06/8/2010 00:00:00.000, 1440 1, 06/7/2010 00:00:00.000, 1440 1, 06/6/2010 00:00:00.000, 0 1, 06/5/2010 00:00:00.000, 0 1, 06/4/2010 00:00:00.000, 1440 In order to get the suggested start date, I need to start with the due date and iterate downward through the days until i have accumulated enough time to complete the task. My Question can something like this be done with CTE, or is this something that should be handled by a cursor. Or... am i just going about this the wrong way completely??

  • SSIS - Limiting Concurrent Connections

    Hi Folks, I am using SSIS to connect to a legecy mainframe database and this allows only 5 concurrent connections at a time. I have a dataflow task with many tables to transfer and it kicks outs because of this limitation. I have split up the Data Flow task into seperate data flows and this is working for the moment, but it is not optiomal as they need to be sequenced and 1 large transfer in a flow is holding up subsequent transfers. Anyone any idea of how to limit the number of connections in a single data flow, I had a look at using the Engine Threads but this did not make any difference. Any help much appericated.

  • Programmatically dial a series of numbers on a modem?

    At work, we just got a large number exotic cellular devices that need to be programmed. To do this, you plug in a standard home telephone and dial a series of numbers, with pauses between them. To me, this is a task that begs to be automated, and we've got one Linux desktop (a test Asterisk machine) with a modem on it. Does anybody know an easy way to approach this task? I could install Ruby or Python on that desktop. I also know PHP, but I'm not sure how to run it outside of a server setup, and it seems silly to install Apache for this.

  • "Use windows xp style dpi scaling" disables automatic auto-hide of taskbar on W7. Workaround?

    We noticed that on W7 with DPI set to 125% or to 100% with ("Use windows xp style dpi scaling") turned off, our fullscreen mode (which sets the client rect of our window = desktop rect of the main monitor) no longer hides the task bar like it does for other settings. (The setting can be found in the Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display section after clicking on the "Set custom text size (DPI)" link) I found the following interesting article: http://www.mathies.com/weblog/?p=908 So I set out to try to work around the bug in other means than manually hiding/restoring the taskbar visibility but so far I've failed and currently believe it's a bug in W7 (and possibly vista). The following applications also fail to work properly in fullscreen mode (the taskbar is still visible): * Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 * Microsoft Word 2007 * Adobe Reader 9.1.3 These apps work (probably by hiding the task bar through the WIN32 API): * Powerpoint Slide Show I also tried creating a brand new MFC-based app and use its "SetFullScreenMode()" functionality but it fails in the same way as all other apps on the list.     I have a problem where I don't want to have to call a setEnv.sh file before i call my ant target that calls an exec task. Right now I have a way to save the environment variables in setenv.properties file in the key=value notation. The exec task for some reason does not see the variables that are set in the .properties file.... (I know i could use the tag but the setenv.properties is dynamically generated) setenv.properties: HELLO=XYZ part of my build.xml : <property file="setenv.properties"/> <target name="test" depends="setEnv"> <exec executable="/bin/ksh" newenvironment="false"> test.sh : echo ${HELLO} Any thoughts?

  • Create a Counter within a For-Loop?

    I am a novice programmer and apologize upfront for the complicated question. I am trying to create a lexical decision task for experimental research, in which respondents must decide if a series of letters presented on the screen make a "word" or "not a word". Everything works reasonably well except for the bit where I want to randomly select a word (category A) or nonword (category B) for each of 80 trials from a separate input file (input.txt). The randomization works, but some elements from each list (category A or B) are skipped because I have used "round.catIndex = j;" where "j" is a loop for each successive trial. Because some trials randomly select from Category A and other from Category B, "j" does not move successively down the list for each category. Instead, elements from the Category A list may be selected from something like 1, 2, 5, 8, 9, 10, and so on (it varies each time because of the randomization). To make a long story short(!), how do I create a counter that will work within the for-loop for each trial, so that every word and nonword from Category A and B, respectively, will be used for the lexical decision task?   • As a programmer what single discovery has given you the greatest boost in productivity?

    This question has been inspired by my recent discovery/adoption of distributed version control. I started using it (mercurial) just because I liked the idea of still being able to make commits at times when I couldn't connect to the central server. I never expected it would give me a large boost in general productivity, but a pleasant side effect I discovered was that making a new clone every time I started a new task and giving that clone a descriptive folder name is extremely effective at keeping me on task resulting is a noticeable productivity increase. So as a programmer what single discovery has given you the greatest boost in productivity? Extra respect for answers which involve tools or practices that aren't so obvious from the outside!

    At least once per day i have the following situation: A: This line should also replace line X ... X: This is line should be replaced I believe that I don't perform that task efficiently. What I do: Go to line A: AG Yank line A: yy Go to line X: XG Paste line A: P Move to old line: j Delete old line: dd This has the additional disadvantage that line X is now in the default register, which is annoying if I find another line that should be replaced with A. Yanking to and pasting from an additional register ("ayy, "aP) makes this simple task even less efficient. My Questions: Did I miss a built-in Vim command to replace a line yanked before? If not, how can I bind my own command that leaves (or restores) the yanked line in the default register?
