  • How can I compile some parts of C++/CLI code as Native and some part as Managed?

    - by Usman
Hello, I am calling LoadTypeLib for loading unmanaged type libraries in C++/CLI. I need to compile some code(some code areas) as managed and some code areas as unmanaged(native) code and form a mixed mode class library as executable. What i need to mention between the lines of code so that whatever the part i need to be compiled as managed should compiled as managed and what part I need to be unmanaged(native) should be compiled as native? Regards Usman

  • Identifier for win64 configuration in Qmake

    - by Tuminoid
Is there a "win64" identifier in Qmake project files? Qt Qmake advanced documentation does not mention other than unix / macx / win32. So far I've tried using: win32:message("using win32") win64:message("using win64") amd64:message("using amd64") The result is always "using win32". Must I use a separate project-file for x32 and x64 projects, so they would compile against correct libraries? Is there any other way to identify between 32-bit and 64-bit environments?

  • Silverlight styles, an old school html style?

    - by tony
Hi I'm looking for some free silverlight styles to play with. I'd ideally like a style which makes a silverlight page's controls (textbox, etc), look as though they came from a html page. Also after some other styles to play with, any good free libraries out there? thanks

  • C++ Linker Error SDL Image - could not read symbols

    - by Matt H
Hi, I'm trying to use the SDL_Image library and I've added the .so to the link libraries list for my project (I'm using Code::Blocks, by the way). After doing this, when I go to compile, I get this error: Linking console executable: bin/Debug/ttfx /usr/lib32/libSDL_image-1.2.so: could not read symbols: File in wrong format What does this mean and how can I get it working? Thanks!

  • Silverlight vs web 2.0

    - by nathan gonzalez
i understand that silverlight has come a long way since its inception, but i have always struggled to find the business need for silverlight. i'd love to hear the advantages and disadvantages of silverlight 4.0 vs modern html5 and javascript libraries like jQuery or ExtJS from some people who are more in the know than i am. is silverlight the way of the future or a stumbling block on the path to a plugin free web?

  • How can I get the WebClient to use Cookies?

    - by Jeremy Child
I would like the VB.net WebClient to remember cookies. I have searched and tried numerous overloads classes. I want to login to a website via POST, then POST to another page and get its contents whilst still retaining my session. Is this possible with VB.net without using WebBrowser control ? I tried Chilkat.HTTP and it works, but I want to use .Net libraries. Regards, Jeremy.

  • Data store for capturing votes & aggregating them

    - by Nathan de Vries
I'm interested in using Node.js as a socket server for stream-based communication with tens of thousands of clients. Clients will be sending votes for particular pieces of content, and receiving near-realtime updates of aggregated vote tallies from the server. The datastore needs to support: Storing the votes Summarising the votes in near-realtime Preventing multiple votes within an arbitrary time period (e.g. clients can only vote once for a piece of content every 1 minute) Something that already has client libraries for Node.js would be preferable.

  • What does binding mean exactly?

    - by Lily
I always see people mention that "Python binding" and "C Sharp binding" etc. when I am actually using their C++ libraries. What does binding mean? If the library is written in C, and does Python binding means that they use SWIG kind of tool to mock a Python interface? Newbie in this field, and any suggestion will be welcomed.

  • Symbolizing plugins in Instruments' stack traces

    - by Huperniketes
Instruments is able to properly symbolize my app's main bundle (as well as frameworks and libraries) in the stack trace of the extended detail view. However, symbols aren't resolved for plugins loaded during execution. Setting the build directory where the dSym files for the main and plugin bundles are located (as well as the app itself) in the "File Re-Symbolicate Document" menu item made no discernible difference in the stack trace. What must I do for Instruments to load symbols for the plugins?

  • What damage is done by document.write()?

    - by Simon Gibbs
What bad things happen at the moment document.write() is invoked? I've heard bits and peices about document.write having an adverse impact on the DOM or on the use of Javascript libraries. I have an issue in front of me that I suspect is related, but have not been able to find a concise summary of what damage the method does.

  • PDO/Oracle vs OCI

    - by jarcoal
The company I work for currently uses some basic functions to abstract the OCI libraries as a means for DB connectivity. We're considering switching to PHP's PDO object, but from some quick searches, it looks like the Oracle driver is a bit less mature than the other PDO drivers. I would appreciate some pro/cons for PDO/Oracle from anyone who has used it in a production environment. Thanks!

  • Is instanceof considered bad practice? If so, under what circumstances is instanceof still preferabl

    - by aioobe
Over the years, I've tried to avoid instanceof whenever possible. Using polymorphism or the visitor pattern where applicable. I suppose it simply eases maintenance in some situations... Are there any other drawbacks that one should be aware of? I do however see it here and there in the Java libraries so I suppose it has its place? Under what circumstances is it preferable? Is it ever unavoidable?
