    Well, I would like to build a file hosting website just like other already did, but it is going to be something different by adding search engine, allowing download and upload in full speed for any user, and so on. Unfortunately the web hosting plans, which declared to support UNLIMITED SPACE rarely allows me to host files on those space. So what I need is the unlimited file storage service which could host all of my users' files. I found Amazon S3, already provides such service, but could anybody recommends me for other better ?

Dedicated server has one public IP address. What I want to do: Host multiple guest OS from that server Problem: Access to the guest through the (server that virtualizes the guest)'s IP address. Is this possible at all?     I am designing a campus network, and the design looks like this: LINX is The London Internet Exchange and JANET is Joint Academic Network. My goal is an almost-fully redundant with high availability, because it will have to support about 15k people, including academic staff, administrative staff and students. I have read some documents in the process , but I am still not sure about some aspects. I want to dedicate this one to firewalls: what are the driving factors in deciding to employ a dedicated firewall, instead of an embedded firewall in the border router? From what I can see, an embedded firewall has these advantages: Easier to maintain Better integration One less hop Less space requirement Cheaper Dedicated firewall has the advantage of being modular. Is there anything else? What am I missing?

  • Setup Cisco RVS4000 QOS for VOIP

    Just switched from dedicated T1's with analog phone lines to cable modem with 10/2 uplink. We're having some VOIP call quality issues on the outgoing side when bandwidth is stressed and I need to setup QOS or a VLAN on our RVS4000 router. Currently all phone traffic (talkswitch device and ip phones) are on it's own d-link PoE switch, and all workstations are on a LinkSys 1GB switch. Both switches are plugged into ports on the RVS4000. I'd like to set it up so that the dlink port has ~512Mbsp dedicated to it for voice at all times. It's my understanding that with a VLAN or QOS I can set this up. I've got QOS setup already with port 5060 to have high priority but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

    I need to configure windows NLB on 2 dedicated servers I have. My main machine has been running for some time, with several domain names pointing to the servers primary IP address. Both servers have 2 NIC's installed, and both have several secondary public IP addresses available if needed? What IP address would I use for the cluster IP, does this IP need to be added to the IP list of both public NIC's ip address list? What IP addresses do I use for the host's dedicated IP? Please help, this is driving me nuts...i've taken down the server twice on accident today! Thank you in advance!

    Hello, I run a few websites and I was thinking of paying for a dedicated Windows web server from GoDaddy instead of paying for each site's hosting individually. I know enough about IIS to configure the Host Header and stuff like that, but I'm a little fuzzy about the email portion of the hosting. I have a few questions: Do I need to install an SMTP server on the web server to allow for emails to be sent/received to a website email address? Or is there another approach that I'm unaware of? Are there tools that monitor the amount of bandwidth used by the server? GoDaddy charges for bandwidth and I want to make sure I don't go over. Am I opening a can of worms that I don't really want to open by going the dedicated server route? Things like server updates, security, etc? Thanks!

    Hi, My company's VPN server is located in Netherlands, from my current location this is a really crappy place in terms of connectivity, connection keeps dropping, it's slow and keeps being reset during high traffic times. I have a dedicated server over USA which is able to connect to VPN server without this issues, connection is stable and fast. My question is, how do I connect to this VPN using a proxy running on my dedicated server? I'm on Windows 7 using a VM on XP to connect to the VPN. Thanks.

Secondly, does the generation of the processors make a difference despite the same clockspeed. Thirdly, do usb 3.0 ports make a difference? And lastly, which laptop is more future proof?   • Adding IP address to OpenVZ VPS (OpenVZ Web Panel)

    I apologise if I sound at all dumb. This is my first dedicated server having used a VPS for over a year and I'm trying to setup a VPS on this new server. I purchased a subnet from my hosting provider that I believe allows me 6 usable IP addresses: 177.xx.xxx.201 - 177.xx.xxx.206 The subnet address looks like this: 177.xx.xxx.200/29. I've gone on my server and added them like it said on a wiki like so: ip addr add 177.**.***.201/29 dev eth0 I done that for all six and now when I go to them in the browser they point to my server. The problem is, I'm using OpenVZ web panel to create VMs (http://code.google.com/p/ovz-web-panel/) so I created a VM and assigned one of those IPs to it. However when SSHing to that IP it SSH's to the dedicated server and not the VM. Am I missing something?

We currently have one dedicated server with Rackspace in the UK of the following spec: HPDL385_G2_PrevGen HP Single Dual Core Opteron 2214 (2.2Ghz) 4GB RAM 2x 10,000 SCSI Drives in RAID 1 Our traffic is up to 550,000 UVs per month. The site runs off a PHP and MySQL setup. The database gets an absolute hammering, we have many complex queries joining multilpe tables. We are using APC for PHP caching. I'm getting to the stage where I've done as much DB and query optimisation as I can and wonder what the next step should be...... I've looked at memcache, but I've got the impression that his requires a large amount of RAM and ideally a dedicated box.... So is the next step to have two boxes; one for database, one for Apache? Or is there a step I've overlooked. Our load is usually around the 2 mark, but right now it's up at 20!

Then I need to restart httpd, csf and sites are online again...

    We are currently running a root server with Debian 6 and Plesk 10.4.4. We have some virtual hosts using one IP adress (shared) - e.g. example1.com - and another virtual host using a dedicated IP address (example2.com). Is there a way to configure postfix to do the following Always use the IP address of the virtual host to which the e-mail account belongs (so that an e-mail from [email protected] will originate from the shared IP-Address and an e-mail from [email protected] will originate from the dedicated IP? Use different certificates for TLS for example1.com and example2.com? If the latter is not possible: Could any problems arrive when using example1.com as certificate for example2.com users? Of course, example2.com users would have to configure their clients to use example1.com as the SMTP server name to avoid annoying security warnings. But if we still would be able to get the effect of the first point that would still be acceptable.

Now I want to map the 2nd IP address to the virtual machine so that it can run as a second dedicated server for me.     I have a Mac (OS X 10.5) that I would like to connect to a dedicated/isolated Internet connection (one that is not connected to the LAN), and a LAN. The LAN is set up with its own, separate, Internet connection which is shared by several dozen computers (and is quite slow). I want to set it up so that the Mac uses its own dedicated Internet connection (on a different account with a different company) for its Internet access, but can still access the local area network as well. How can I configure the Mac & the network to allow this?

    So I changed the nameservers to veeter.com about 5 days ago now - and the domain is still not resolving over the net. It does intermittently, but then cuts out again every few hours. I run 10+ other domains through the same dedicated server (running CentOS/WHM) and they are all up - so it has nothing to do with that. I have asked my dedicated server support staff what the problem might be, they told me to "log into WHM and click on 'Add a DNS Zone' under the 'DNS Functions' section on the left hand side of the screen. Once you have done this and dns fully propagates it should resolve any intermittent dns issues you may be experiencing." BUT there is already a DNS zone in place for the domain on my server - so what should I do

  • Getting packets from one port to another on a Dell PowerConnect 2824 switch

    I have a dell PowerConnect 2824 and I have a cat 5 cable connected from port 1 to port 23. Port 1 is reserved for VLAN 1 (the only VLAN that can manage the switch) and port 18-23 belong to VLAN 112. I currently have the switch setup with ip 10.71.3.5/27 and a test machine plugged into port 22 with IP address 10.71.3.30/27. For some reason I can not ping 10.71.3.5 from my test machine (10.71.3.30). Note: When I try to ping the server plugged into port 21 (IP: 10.71.3.7/27) also VLAN 112, I get responses just fine. Note: When I plug my test machine directly into port 1, I can ping 10.71.3.5 just fine.   • Is my disk hot or not?

    I am trying to figure out the temperature of my dedicated server's harddisk. For this purpose, I've downloaded HDTune to monitor the S.M.A.R.T. Status. The problem is that the current temperature for "C2 Temperature" is 73 degrees celsius, but the little thermometer on top of the window shows 27 degrees celsius. See this screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/OGJhZGIxND Another monitoring software (Anfibia Reactor) shows similar behavior: Disk temperature is around 30 degrees, but it says that the disk is too hot. So, is my disk hot or not? Since this is a dedicated server, I can't just open the case and put a thumb on it.

    I'm working for a startup now, and I'm the programmer. Because of our small team size, I'm also handling the server management for now (until we get a dedicated server administrator.) I've never used Plesk before, and the server we're using (a Media Temple Dedicated Virtual server) had it installed when I got here. One of my first jobs was to set up backups: Plesk was already running it's nightly server-wide backups. I created a small script to dump the web app, it's DBs and any assets, tar them, store them, and then copy them to another small server we have (to backup the backups.) But, we're constantly running into hard drive space issues because of the Plesk backups. And I'm wondering, are they useful? If I have the web app and all of it's assets, I could easily enough get another server up and running. Do we need to keep running Plesk's backups? Thoughts?

    Hi there, so we've procured a monster of a SQL Cluster and 4 screaming fast machines running the apps/WFE to start up our MOSS 2007 Enterprise Server farm, however I've got one server from the old server farm configuration that was just re-imaged and is still running decently, it's a 32 bit machine where the others are 64 bit machines so it really can't serve the same role as a 64 bit machine. I am planning to run VMWare Fusion v3. I also didn't know if a dedicated graphics card makes a difference when using a Virtual Machine. Thank you.

  • Changed file and now I cannot access my SSH anymore

    I was trying to get my dedicated server to have a couple of VPS's installed using this tutorial: http://linux-vserver.org/Installation_on_CentOS In the process I had to change a file: /etc/ssh/sshd_config The documentation advises to change it into: ListenAddress <host IP address> Guess what? I literally added <host IP address> instead of the dedicated servers IP. I restarted the server and now I'm not able to access my SSH anymore. Can anyone help me to gain access to my SSH again? I'm using CentOS 6.
