    We are hosting our website (http://www.redappleapartments.com) with a hosting company in Sweden. And we are using godaddy as our email provider. So, our smtp servers are smtp.europe.secureserver.net mailstore1.europe.secureserver.net Our website sends plenty of emails to our customers and we are sending via godaddy (using SMTP authentication). Some of the emails are never delivered to the recipients. And sometimes we see such warning: The hostname in the SMTP greeting does not match the reverse DNS (PTR) Can somebody out there suggest how we can solve this problem?

    I have php script on hosting, which receive big data with ajax/post. Just now, after some works on hosting, I see that script is broken. I checked with curl: file temp1: user_avatar=&user_baner=&user_sig=.... 237 chars total, and curl -H "X-Requested-With: XMLHttpRequest" -X POST --data @temp1 'http://host/mypage.php' works perfect. But with file temp2: name=%D0%9C%D0%B5%D0%B1%%B5%D0%BB%D1%8C%D0%A4%%B0%D0%B1%D1%80%D0%B8%D0%BA%D1%8A&user_payed=0000-00-00&...positions%5B5231%5D=on total chars: 65563 curl -H "X-Requested-With: XMLHttpRequest" -X POST --data @temp2 'http://host/mypage.php' curl return nothing. Looks like a problem with apache/php/php.ini or something like that. I check .htaccess php_value post_max_size 20M Which other parameters I should check? Is it possible that %BO encode kill php/apache? Or total number of parameters (about 2800) ?

  • What is the point in using a "real" database modeling tool?

    We currently have a 10 year old nasty, spaghetti-code-style SQL Server database that we are soon looking to pretty much re-write from scratch as part of a re-write to a large web application. (The existing application will serve as the functional requirements for the next incarnation of the app). Some have suggested we use Visio to do all the diagramming and to generate the DDL, but others have suggested we use a dedicated database design tool, rather than a diagramming tool that is able to export DDL. Is there any benefit to using "real" DB design tools, such as ModelRight, over general tools like Visio? If so, what are those specific benefits? Edit: In a nutshell, what can real/dedicated tools do that something like Visio can't, and how much do these capabilities matter (from a best-practices standpoint, for example)

    Hi, everyone. I have a shell account but the admin has restricted ssh access to the server. The server is listening on 0.0.0.0:22 but the firewall blocks any incoming attempts to this port. He says he is doing maintenance but I don't believe him and I need to backup my stuff with ssh. My question is that: Is it possible to do this: Me (Wan IP) <- Hosting Server (tcp/8080) redirects to Hosting Server (tcp/22) I don't want to involve my own linux machine in this and I can only make use of ssh..   • FCGI & recompiling python code without restarting apache.

    Hello At one hosting company, they used to run python projects with fcgi. They had set it up so that when i changed django.fcgi file, which put django & my project on pythonpath, my project code was instantly recompiled. Because of that a friend set up hosting for our shared project in his server using fastcgi. It has been set up and the python scripts execute as they should, but what we do not know is, how to set it up so that my project would be recompiled when my setup file has been changed. Alan

  • Keyboard focus being stolen by Flash

    Performing a search, I noticed several questions dedicated to how to steal/trap the keyboard focus of the visitor. Considering this site is dedicated to programming that's not suprising. I was wondering if anyone can advise me on how to prevent this type of behavior. Losing keyboard focus to flash basically removes my browser's functionality until I use the mouse to click elsewhere (I use Mozilla Firefox). Anyone know of some kind of plugin or greasemonkey script that will prevent my keyboard focus from being stolen? Normal browser "shortcuts" are rendered useless by having to use the mouse to return keyboard focus to the browser. Edit: Reply to the post below, I do have flashblock / noscript and some other things. My issue is flash that I want to see/interact with stealing my focus. Basically looking for something I can toggle that will prevent flash from getting keyboard focus or a way to force my firefox keyboard commands to the browser

Core 2 Duo @ 2.4 GHz with 8 GB RAM and integrated graphics (Mac Book Pro 13") Core i7 @ 2.6 GHz with 4 GB RAM and 512 MB dedicated graphics (Mac Book Pro 15") I plan to run Windows x64 in the VM with SQL Server 2008, Visual Studio 2010, and SharePoint 2010. I am planning to run VMWare Fusion v3. I also didn't know if a dedicated graphics card makes a difference when using a Virtual Machine. Thank you.

    CURRENT: single domain, single Exchange 2007 NEW: two domains, single Exchange 2007 Can this be done? Details: Current setup is a single W2k3 domain with a single Exchange 2007 server. We are merging with another company that currently hosts their email with their ISP via POP3. We'd like to start hosting their email on our Exchange server using their existing domain SMTP addresses. They don't have an AD domain at all at the moment. Recommendations? Can I do this with a trust between the 2 domains? Requirements: They can't have multiple SMTP addresses on both domains...such as I've seen with articles pointing to "hosting multiple domains". I want companyA to have the same account settings they've always had...companyB to have the same SMTP address they've had and not an additional one on the current companyA Exchange domain. They should be able to collaborate (calendar, contacts, GALs) but should still be distinguishable based on which company they "work for". Please help...thanks!

    New sysadmin here, managing a CentOS server. This past week has been one of the most exciting weeks of my career, and full of learning all sorts of new things. Today I have another task though, and that is to make sure our server can handle more than what our old shared-hosting was capable of. We were originally limited to 200 concurrent connections on our GoDaddy shared-hosting. Eventually we out-grew this (usually during campaigns/marketing events) and moved on to a Virtual Dedicated Server. I'm assuming the number of connections would be handled by Apache. What configurations should I be mindful of in order to allow more traffic in?

    I have an old server with suse on it and its hosting numerous website under same IP , now i am trying to migrate the websites and all the contents of the old suse server to a new server with open suse 12.1 , i have transferred "/srv/www/vhosts" "/etc/apache2/vhosts.d" "/etc/apache2//httpd.conf" "/etc/apache2/listen.conf" "/etc/apache2/default-server.conf" i have transferred all the database files also . i am trying to replace the old server with the new server , i tried changing the ip address with the old server's ip address but its not working. what files do i need to transfer and what do i need to do to get the new server hosting the websites in place of the old server , please, any help will be greatly appreciated.

    I have a multi purpose server running ArchLinux that currently serves multiple virtual hosts from /var/www/domains/EXAMPLE.COM/html /var/www/domains/EXAMPLE2.COM/html I deploy those websites (mostly using Kohana framework) using a Jenkins job by checking out the project, removes the .git folder and ssh-copy the tar.gz to /var/www/domains/ on the server and untars it. Since I don't want to have to re-install phpMyAdmin after each deploy, I decided to use an alias. I would like the alias to be something like /.tools/phpMyAdmin/ so I could have more "tools" later if I wanted to.     If I want to send someone a piece of my screen this is what I currently do: PrtScr or Alt+PrtScr Open Paint.NET Paste the screen shot Make a selection Crop image to selection Save image to some location - and remember it! Go to some image hosting site (there are plenty of them in the days of Twitter) Click their "Browse" button Browse for the image if I happened to remember the location where I stored it :) Upload the image and obtain the link which I can share This is simply too many steps. I don't usually mind doing steps 1 to 5 but especially steps 6 and 9 are annoying. Jing is pretty close to what I'm looking for but I find their horrible URLs unbearable. If there was something with similar functionality but better or pluggable hosting, that would be great.

    I have a VPS hosting with a VZFS file system. How can I determine maximum file size of VZFS partition? UPD: Free space (or total space) is not what i need. Sometimes file cannot occupy a hole partition volume - fat16 with 2Gb limit is a good example. I need to use a large database file (say, 64Gb) and so I need to know if a file system of VPS hosting will cope with it. It is easy to calculate for an ext3 filesystem using tune2fs, but VPS uses VSFS by Virtuozzo, and it is documented bad. Is it any generic way to calculate maximum file size for some filesystem in linux?

  • Running NginX (with Apache) and cPanel/WHM

    I was wondering if its a good idea to be running NginX as the webserver (on port 80) and Apache as the reverse proxy (on port 8080) with cPanel/WHM being used as a control panel? I also installed Nginx Admin so the configuration for NginX is managed by WHM. The reason I am asking is because I came across an article (http://kbeezie.com/view/apache-with-nginx/) which explains how to setup Apache as a reverse proxy but it states If you are using a control panel based hosting such as cpanel/whm, this method is not advised. Most of the servers configuration is handled automatically in those cases, and making manual changes will likely lead to problems (plus you won’t get support from the control panel makers or your hosting provider in most cases). Anyone have any past experiences with this and can say if its good/bad idea?

    I've moved my app from a dedicated server to azure (and sql azure), and have noticed substantial performance degradation. obviously not having the database and web server on the same piece of hardware is much of it, but I'm curious what other people have found in migrating to azure, and if there is anything any of you would suggest I do to improve it. Right now I'm considering moving back to my dedicated server... So in summary, are there any rules of thumb for this, existing research (wasn't able to find much) or other pieces of advice on improving the performance of the app? has anyone else found the same to be true, and improved their site's performance in some way? it's built in C# on asp.net mvc 2.   • DNS: domain2 points to domain1

    I have one domain ("domain1") that is set up with hosting and mail (hosted by Gmail Apps). This domain works perfectly. I want a second domain ("domain2") to forward to domain1, but I don't want to use "DNS Forwarding." I would like to have it act EXACTLY like domain1, so that domain2/whatever points to the same resource as domain1/whatever WITHOUT AN HTTP REDIRECT NOR BROWSER TRICKS LIKE FRAMES. I would also love to be able to send mail to "blah@domain2" and have it go to "blah@domain1". Can this be set up, and how? I am using GoDaddy as registrar and DNS host for both domains. GoDaddy is also the web host for domain1, and mail hosting is with Google Apps.

    I would like to create a page for new clients in my hosting. When someone register a domain, sometimes that person don't have a dns, or the hosting didn't created the account. So the page will not respond. Is there any way to set in my primary domain DNS to respond to all domains pointing to me, to a specific new page like home/resseler/public_html/soon.html ? Like a CNAME myserver.com/soon.html CNAME ~~all domains pointing to my ns1 and ns2. A normal default page for news domains pointed to my server without account creation.

  • How do you have one IP address and many websites?

    Hi, How can I have it where I have one IP address that sits on the Internet but many web names? For example, when a hosting company has a shared IP but I get unlimited domain names (along with everyone else on that box). I have a box on the Internet but I want to point to another machine that holds a different website when someone types in the different www...(it's sitting right next to it in just a different box). Is that all subdomaining? Thank you. EDIT: I am the hosting company.
