  • Bug: files uploaded via desktop or web client have hidden tag when listed via API

    Files uploaded to Google Drive sometimes incorrectly have a hidden tag when listed via the Document List v3 REST API: <category scheme='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005/labels' term='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005/labels#hidden' label='hidden'/> This happens if: a subfolder is created via the Google Drive desktop client and files are copied in, or a folder is uploaded via the Google Drive web client. The folder does not have the hidden tag, but the files that were uploaded do. The files do not have this tag if: they are individually uploaded via the Google Drive web client to the subfolder, or they are uploaded via the REST API to the subfolder, or they are uploaded via the desktop client to the My Drive root. The files and folders show up in Google Drive whether they have the hidden tag or not. We're using the API with the following scope: https://docs.google.com/feeds/ https://spreadsheets.google.com/feeds/ https://docs.googleusercontent.com/ I have verified and can recreate this with the OAuth 2.0 playground. Google Drive desktop client version 1.3.3209.2600 on Win7 32-bit I guess these must be bugs in the API...

  • Packaging Java apps for the Windows/Linux desktop.

    I am writing an application in Java for the desktop using the Eclipse SWT library for GUI rendering. I think SWT helps Java get over the biggest hurdle for acceptance on the desktop: namely providing a Java application with a consistent, responsive interface that looks like that belonging to any other app on your desktop. However, I feel that packaging an application is still an issue. OS X natively provides an easy mechanism for wrapping Java apps in native application bundles, but producing an app for Windows/Linux that doesn't require the user to run an ugly batch file or click on a .jar is still a hassle. Possibly that's not such an issue on Linux, where the user is likely to be a little more tech-savvy, but on Windows I'd like to have a regular .exe for him/her to run. Has anyone had any experience with any of the .exe generation tools for Java that are out there? I've tried JSmooth but had various issues with it. Is there a better solution before I crack out Visual Studio and roll my own? Edit: I should perhaps mention that I am unable to spend a lot of money on a commercial solution.

    Ok, maybe thats kind of a stupid question. But let's try to get an answer. I'm building a Desktop Solution for an existing web service. That web service is only available without ads when you pay for a premium account. Would it be illegal when I block this ads in my Desktop Application? When you use this web service over the browser, every user has the chance to block ads with adblocker addons. So why not block this stuff in my Desktop Application?

    I need to submit an extended function key (like F17 or F17 ) to a program that runs in the terminal (I use the default gnome-terminal but could use another if it works there). Is there a way in Ubuntu 11.04 to generate those key hits? I'm searching for something like Shift+F7 to generate F17 (what I currently use in Reflection under Windows). My keyboard is set to generic 105 keys PC with the US Qwerty layout.

    Im using remoted desktop to access a Win7 machine. when I ctrl+shift click an icon or right click to run it as administrator nothing happens. I see that a new instance of consent.exe is added to the processes in windows task manager but nothing is rendered to approve the execution.

    After a Windows update I cannot connect to a Windows Server 2008 machine via RDP. As an alternative, I remotely installed UltraVNC using PsExec. The WinVNC service starts successfully but when I try to connect remotely, I receive the following error message: This server does not have a valid password enabled. Until a password is set, incoming connections cannot be enabled. Since I don't have desktop access to the machine, how do I set the password?

    We are using Win 2008 R2 and connecting to it from Win7 boxes. The RDP is faster then before but we want to know if their are any other solutions that will make it faster. Due to licensing issue we got a software that multiple people need to access (not all at the same time) and the only way i can find is to install on a server and give RDP access to users. If I'm idle for a few minutes, it locks me out (killing file transfers, which is a problem), and a few minutes after that, it severs my connection.     I need to connect to a VPS and I'm running Vista Home Basic. TightVNC and TeamViewer both require access to the VPS first, because they require that the server be set up with TightVNC or TeamViewer. Is there anything similar to Remote Desktop that will allow me to use the IP address and administrator password to the VPS to simply connect, rather than having to have the hosting company set up VNC or TeamViewer on the server first? Any help would be appreciated!!! Thank you!

    I have a rather old Palm m500 PDA that I have been considering replacing with a Blackberry, as it has been slowly starting to fail. I already have decided on which model I want, but the problem is that the information in Palm Desktop 4 (what of it is actually exportable) is in a legacy database format that can't be migrated to MS Office Outlook 2007. Is there a converter that will spit out an Outlook-importable file, or is there a free Windows PIM that happens to support importing/exporting both formats?

  • windows server 2008 r2 remote desktop issue with roaming clients

    I have the following situation : a Dell windows server 2008 R2 computer, with remote desktop services installed. I have installed a java application making use of a PostgreSql database, and made this application available for clients using RDP. Clients are standard Win XP pc's and Psion Neo handheld devices running Windows CE 5 Pro. The application works fine for clients on standard XP pc's connected directly via cat 5E Ethernet cable to a Dell Powerconnect 2816 switch. The Psion Neo clients connect wireless to the network via Motorola AP6532 access points. These access points are connected via a POE adapter to the same switch as the XP pc's. The Psion devices can connect without any problem and very quickly to the server and to the application using RDP. So far, so good. When the Psion devices move around in the warehouse, and they roam from one access point to the other, the RDP session on the client freezes for approx 1 minute, and then it automatically resumes the session. This freezing is very annoying for the users. Can anyone help in solving this issue? Update (August 9) : After re-installing the access points we have a working situation, but only when connecting to the RDP host : * via a Win Xp SP3 laptop * via a Symbol MC9190 Win CE 6 mobile device When roaming we notice a small hick-up less then 1 second, what is very acceptable. With the Psion NEO it's still not working, when roaming the screen freezes from 2 to 30 seconds. The RDP client on the win xp sp3 laptop and the symbol mc9190 is version 6.0. The RDP client on the neo is version 5.2. I have changed the security layer on the RDP host to RDP security layer (based on forums on the internet), because older RDP clients seem to have issues with the RDP 7.1 protocol on the Win server 2088 R2. Psion adviced us to do some network logging activity on the different devices. We made this logging via wireshark, and based on this the conclusion of Psion is that the server fails in handling tcp-requests. Can anyone give me a second opinion by analysing the wireshark loggings. Thanks in advance. Regards Patrick

I open the run window type mstsc /multimon and press enter, also "use all my monitors for the remote session" is checked.By this way RDC is opening but only in one monitor.Do I need to do any changes on host too?     Hi, i am using Rising Antivirus, free version. It has many advanced functionalities, including a "logon protection" that assures the protection of the password, or pre-logon protection. Unfortunately, that disables remote desktop connection until an user has logged on. (user log on, disconnect, then you can connect) I hate this behaviour, someone knows how to disable this function? (ok, i could create a limited user that autologons and then autodisconnects, but i don't like this approach)
