  Hello, I am trying to execute unix command using SSH from cygwin. My set of command would navigate to a certain directory, source a particular file. Based on the variables sourced from that file, I would try to launch application. But somehow the variables are not getting sourced as echo does not return any values. • PHP reading 'get' variable that may or may not have been set

  Simply put, if you try to read the value of a get variable, what happens if said variable had not be put into the URL. Example: you request the page test.php, in that file it tries to read the value of $_GET['message']. What happens in this case? dose the value just get returned as ''? Dose this mean, that if I am always expecting a value to be entered, and am not willing to accept a value of '' that I can just do something like $foo = $_GET['bar']; if($foo == ''){ // Handle my 'error' } else { // $foo should now have a value that I can work with } Please bare in mind I know that I could use isset($_GET['bar']) But I don't just want to know if it is set, I don't care if it is or not, I just care if it has a value that is more then just an empty string.

  Consider a simple result set from a mysql query. rs("description") and rs("description").Value should be considered as the same thing. However, depending on how you access them, you get different results (!!) Access rs("description") directly and you are returned a "Field" object. Or, more importantly, use it directly in a call, and you are returned a "Field" object. mydescription = rs("description") + " is the description" Assign it to another variable, and the Value of that object is assigned... mydescription = rs("description") the contents of "mydescription" is a string. Why this difference? At one point in the life of ASP they must have both worked exactly the same, so why have they changed, and how can I change it back?

  Hi, I have a website using asp.net mvc in which I need to embed a flash file in view. I am unable to set the relative path for the flash file. Given below is the code I am using: AC_FL_RunContent( 'codebase', 'http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,19,0', 'width', '487', 'height', '359', 'menu', 'false', 'movie', 'images/butterfly', 'quality', 'high', 'allowscriptaccess', 'sameDomain', 'pluginspage', 'http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer' ); where I copied butterfly.swf in a directory called images. images directory resides in the views folder. If I use code behind( default.aspx default.aspx.cs) in a different solution with the same folder strucuture, browser is able to load the flash file.   I'm doing some specific signal analysis, and I am in need of a method that would smooth out a given bell-shaped distribution curve. A running average approach isn't producing the results I desire. I want to keep the min/max, and general shape of my fitted curve intact, but resolve the inconsistencies in sampling. In short: if given a set of data that models a simple quadratic curve, what statistical smoothing method would you recommend? If possible, please reference an implementation, library, or framework.   For several reasons, a lot of "webmaster guides" (like Google and Yahoo!'s webmaster guides/guidelines) repeats several times that it is better to always put the width and height attribute of the img tag. One of the most obvious reason is that the elements in the page won't seem to be "jumping around" to a new location after every picture is loaded (always setting the correct width/height sure gets rid of this behavior). And there are other reasons to follow these guidelines / best practices. So: if we consider that these are indeed good practices if there are a lot of pictures and they are changing often if pictures aren't changing between two .war re-deploy (that is: there's no user-contributed picture) if we don't want to manually edit all these width/height attributes How do we automatically/programmatically serve HTML pages where every img tag have their width/height attribute correctly set as the best practice recommend?

  I have two models, product and order. Product - cost - id Order - cost - product_id Each time someone places an order, it captures the product_id through a radio button value in the "new order" form. In the controller when creating the new order it needs to set order.cost to order.product.cost. Logically I thought the code should be something like this: def create ... @order.cost == @order.product.cost ... end However I can't seem to make it work at all, hence me asking the question here. Any help is answering (or naming) the question would be greatly appreciated.

  I am trying to reset some values in a form using the a4j:actionParam tag. But it seams that null values never arrive in the target bean. The converter receives it correctly, returns null, but it is never set in the bean. The target is to fill in the start and endDate for different predefined values (last week, last month etc). • Set window to stays always on desktop on windows7

  Hi, I'm trying to set my window a child of the desktop, and i'm doing this like this: HWND ProgmanHwnd = ::FindWindowEx( ::FindWindowEx( ::FindWindow(L"Progman", L"Program Manager"), NULL, L"SHELLDLL_DefView", L""), NULL, L"SysListView32", L"FolderView"); SetParent(m_hWnd, ProgmanHwnd); This works fine in windowsXP, my window is underneath all windows and when i press the "show desktop" option the window shows and all other "normal" windows are hide. But in Win7 when i do the above code the same window is not displayed, in spy++ i can see that my window is a child window of the SysListView32 but it not display (and it has the WM_VISIBLE style)? What i'm missing? or what changed from winXP to win7? how can i do this to work on win7? Update: It's got something to do with aero theme, because if i change the desktop theme to the basic then the window is displayed, but if i switch back to one of the aero theme then is hided again. If Node = B, then B has one of two possible meanings. --If Node = A has been previously found in the file, then the value for A should be sent as 1. --If Node = A has NOT been found in the file, the the value for A should be sent as 2. where file is the xml source to be transformed I cannot figure out how to do this. If I was using a programming language that allowed for a variable to have its value reassigned/changed, then it is easy. But, with XSLT variables are set once.

  I noticed it is possible to set the value of a jQuery UI slider in the following way: $("#mySlider").slider("value", 42); This triggers the event handlers attached to the slider as expected. Now I'm trying to do the same trick using a button (toggle). There does not appear to be a nice way to do this in the API. I might just be missing something simple. I tried the following with no results: $("#myButton").button().click(); Any ideas how to handle that in this case are welcome. Note that it would be awesome to find a solution that applies for a buttonset as well.

Do I have to go deeper than ".children"?

• Set bold rows in a QTreeView

  I have a custom subclass of a QTreeView in a pyqt application. I'm trying to give the user the ability to highlight and "lowlight" (for lack of a better term) rows. Highlighted rows should have bold text and (optionally) a different background color. Any ideas? I'm considering StyleSheets as an option, but have so far been unable to get that to work. If I set the QTreeView's stylesheet: self.setStyleSheet("QTreeView::item:selected {border: 1px solid #567dbc;}") I can't figure out how to manually enable 'states' that would keep only the desired rows at a particular state. If I try setting an individual item's stylesheet: #modelIndex is a valid QModelIndex modelIndex.internalPointer().setStyleSheet() I get a segfault. I'm not convinced stylesheets are the way to go, I'm open to all ideas. Thanks!

Is there any way to host a server locally so Visual studio can use it? Or do you know any online (free) servers I can use? • Unable to set mouse cursor JLayeredPane

  I'm running into a problem that I can't seem to figure out nor find the answer anywhere on the web. I've got a JLayeredPane and when it only has one child Panel I am able to correctly set the cursor using setCursor(). The cursor shows up and everything is fine. • Load JSON in Python as header character set

  Hi everyone, I've always found character sets and encodings complicated to understand and here I'm faced with another problem. My apologies for any inaccuracies. I'll do my best. I'm requesting data from a server which returns JSON. In the HTTP headers it also returns the character set like so: Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 I'm using the JSON library in Python to load the JSON using the json.loads method. When I pass it the returned JSON, it gives me a dictionary in Unicode. I've Googled around and I know that JSON should return Unicode as JavaScript strings are Unicode objects. How can I load the JSON as UTF-8? I would like to use the same encoding as specified in the response header. I've read this post but it didn't help. Thank you.
