• A Quantity class with units

  Goals Create a class that associates a numeric quantity with a unit of measurement. Provide support for simple arithmetic and comparison operations. Implementation An immutable class (Could have been struct but I may try inheritance later) Unit is stored in an enumeration Supported operations: Addition w/ like units Subtraction w/ like units Multiplication by scalar Division by scalar Modulus by scalar Equals() >, >=, <, <=, == IComparable ToString() Implicit cast to Decimal The Source The souce can be downloaded from Github. Notes This class does not support any arithmetic that would modify the unit. This class is not suitable for manipulating currencies. Future Ideas Have a CompositeQuantity class that would allow quantities with unlike units to be combined. Similar currency class with support for allocations/distributions. Provide conversion between units. (Actually I think this would be best placed in an external service. Many situations I deal with require some sort of dynamic conversion ratio.)

• What liability concerns do advertising vendors raise, and how can I address them?

  One of the websites I administer wants to provide free advertising in the form of direct links to vendors at an event they are running. Up until now, there has been no advertising whatsoever on the site (or any of our other sites). The site is for a for-profit business. The idea of implicit endorsement of any vendors we advertise has been raised, which brought up the question of what we need to do, if anything, to protect ourselves from any potential problems such endorsement might create. I know that many sites have clauses in their Terms of Service that state that (in a nutshell) they are not responsible for any problems or grievances between the visitors to the site and any vendor advertised or linked. Are there other steps that a website typically takes when considering advertising, such as getting the advertiser to provide some sort of certification that their ad will not violate any trademarks or copyrighted material?

• Large sparse (stiff) ODE system needed for testing

  I hope this is the right place for this question. I have been working on a sparse stiff implicit ODE solver and have finished the code so far. I now tested the solver with the Van der Pol equation, and another stiff problem, which is of dimension 4. But to perform better tests I am searching for a bigger system. I'm thinking of the order N = 100...1000, if possible stiff and sparse. Does anybody have an example I could use? I really don't know where to search.

This function is taking 2 vec2 as inputs but is supposed to take just 2 atomic arguments according to the official documentation, also this function makes an implicit use of the floor function that only accepts, again, 1 atomic argument. Can someone explain this to me step by step and point out what I'm not getting here? It's some kind of OpenGL trick? OpenGL Math trick? in the GLSL docs i always find and explicit reference to the type accepted by the function and vec2 it's not there.

• How do you pass a date value to BIRT report via querystring

  Hi, I have made a static html page (called start.jsp) containing a form where the user select 2 date ranges and this form has date pickers for those text boxes. When the user submits the form, it should take them to the BIRT report that I have designed. It SHOULD pass the 2 parameters that my report needs (start date and end date). Here is the querystring that gets appended to the URL birt-viewer/run__report=Business_Activity_Monitoring.rptdesign &FilterStartDate=2000-01-01&FilterEndDate=2009-01-01 I get an invalid date error: org.eclipse.birt.report.exception.ViewerValidationException: The parameter "FilterStartDate" is invalid. The value "06-08-2010" is invalid with the type "dateTime". How is it that if I remove the querystring completely, then BIRT will prompt me to enter the start date and end date (screenshot attached). I enter the exact same data that the form tries to send and it works!? This proves that my date string is correctly formatted but yet it will not accept them if they are sent to the BIRT report via the querystring? Seems like it has a problem with the fact that its a string in the first place. I have correctly set up these report parameters in my BIRT report. I have also tried changing them by specifying the "Format as" value to be a "custom" YYYY-MM-dd but this didnt work. Is it even possible to send date parameters to a birt report via querystring? Im guessing the solution will involve converting these strings to dates within the birt report's "script" tab. but I dont know how to access querystring variables from here or how to set report parameter variables. • Writing a Javascript library that is code-completion and code-inspection friendly

  I recently made my own Javascript library and I initially used the following pattern: var myLibrary = (function () { var someProp = "..."; function someFunc() { ... } function someFunc2() { ... } return { func: someFunc, fun2: someFunc2, prop: someProp; } }()); The problem with this is that I can't really use code completion because the IDE doesn't know about the properties that the function literal is returning (I'm using IntelliJ IDEA 9 by the way). I've looked at jQuery code and tried to do this: (function(window, undefined) { var myLibrary = (function () { var someProp = "..."; function someFunc() { ... } function someFunc2() { ... } return { func: someFunc, fun2: someFunc2, prop: someProp; } }()); window.myLibrary = myLibrary; }(window)); I tried this, but now I have a different problem. The IDE doesn't really pick up on myLibrary either. The way I'm solving the problem now is this way: var myLibrary = { func: function() { }, func2: function() { }, prop: "" }; myLibrary = (function () { var someProp = "..."; function someFunc() { ... } function someFunc2() { ... } return { func: someFunc, fun2: someFunc2, prop: someProp; } }()); But that seems kinda clunky, and I can't exactly figure out how jQuery is doing it. Another question I have is how to handle functions with arbitrary numbers of parameters. For example, jQuery.bind can take 2 or 3 parameters, and the IDE doesn't seem to complain. I tried to do the same thing with my library, where a function could take 0 arguments or 1 argument. However, the IDE complains and warns that the correct number of parameters aren't being sent in. How do I handle this?

• jqGrid local data manipulation; problem with row ids when deleting and adding new rows

  I'm using jqGrid as a client side grid input, allowing the user to input multiple records before POSTing all the data back at once. I'm having a problem where if the user has added a few records (say 3 ) the id's for the records will be 1,2,3. if the user deletes record 2, you're left with 1 and 3 for the id of the records. When the user now adds a new records, jqGrid assigns that records the id 3 again since it just seems to count the total records and increments it by one for the new record. This causes problems when selecting rows as now the row id's are 1, 3 and 3. Does anyone know how to access the row ids of records as I could probably use the afterSubmit event and reassign the row id's increasing from 1. ( so after i delete row id 2, this will set the other row id's to 1 and 2) Any other suggestions to solve this problem? Thanks edit I've solved this with the following code for the delete navGrid button }).navGrid('#pager', {add:true, del:true, refresh:false, search:false}, { ... }, ##edit parameters { ... }, ##add parameters {reloadAfterSubmit:false, clearAfterAdd:false, afterComplete: function () { ## clear and readd the row data so the row ids are sequential var savedData= $("#inputgrid").jqGrid('getRowData'); $("#inputgrid").jqGrid('clearGridData'); $("#inputgrid").jqGrid('addRowData', 'rn', savedData); } } ##delete parameters ); Basically just saving the grid data and then re-adding it so that the rowids are sequential again. For some reason it causes the row numbers down the left side to go start from 2 instead of one. Edit this was solved by using the latest jqGrid code in GitHub (27th April 2010)

  We are in the process of migrating our ASP.NET MVC 1.0 web app to MVC 2.0 but we have run into a small snag. In our report creation wizard, it is possible leave the Title text box empty and have it be populated with a generic title (in the post action). In MVC 2.0 this fails/returns false.   How can I create a HTTP POST request with some URL encoded parameters using Qt 4.6.1? I figured out that I can create a QNetworkRequest, set all the parameters there and send it via QNetworkAccessManagers post method. But how can I add some URL-encoded parameters to the request? In the end I want to access the Eve API using Qt/C++.   I have the following code that I need to migrate from VS 2003 (.Net 1.1) to VS 2008 (.Net 2+) but I get compilation error - System.Xml.Xsl.XslTransform' is obsolete: This class has been deprecated. I probably need to use System.Xml.Xsl.XslCompiledTransform instead. but I do not find the matching Load() and Transform() overload versions that I can use with all the parameters of my original code. in MSDN [How to: Migrate Your XslTransform Code] I only found some simpler cases. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa983475%28VS.80%29.aspx but in my code I see some remarks that hints that the added parameters were used to avoid exceptions, so I prefer to use these parameters. • Cannot login to Activeadmin after gem update

  After bundle update I cannot login to my Activeadmin, here is the log. Is it because the unpermitted params? do I need to config strong parameter to make admin login work? • Adapt beginner C# SQL Server INSERT example to work with my database

  I have read TONS of tutorials, articles and whatever regarding my issue and honestly, due to my lack of experience I can't twist my fingers around this one so I hope some of you guys can help me out :) I am working on a project (simply to learn how to program so it's probably very basic), but I have this "News" page where I can update and delete data using a GridView. Now I would like to INSERT something into my database using 3 textboxes and 1 submit button. I have 3 rows that has to be inserted: Headline Date Content/the news itself.
