  • Initialization of controllers in a for loop - leaking problem ?

    Hey, I am creating a kinda gallery and for each gallery I created a view controller whose view is added to a scrollview (see code below) : GalleryViewController *galViewController; for (NSUInteger i = 0 ; i < [galleries count]; i++) { galViewController = [[GalleryViewController alloc] init]; galViewController.record = [galleries objectAtIndex:i]; //galViewController.position = i; galViewController.view.frame = CGRectMake(i%3*100,i/3*150,100,150); [galViewController setDelegate:self]; [self.scrollView addSubview:galViewController.view]; //[galViewController release]; } Is this code leaking ? I think so ... but the thing is that I don't know what to do with these controllers ... i can't release them (cause I got some code to use in the future like touches event) and I don't need to save them somewhere ...     Hello, In my django project in the view I call the last 6 values in the column and send them to the template. I then would like to pass into google charts api those 6 values and have a graph.     This might be a really dumb question, however I've looked around online, etc. And have not seen a solid answer. Is there a simple way to do something like this? lines = open('something.txt', 'r').readlines() for line in lines: if line == '!': # force iteration forward twice line.next().next() <etc> It's easy to do in C++; just increment the iterator an extra time. Is there an easy way to do that in Python? I would just like to point, out the main purpose of this question is not about "reading files and such" and skipping things. I was more looking for C++ iterator style iteration. Also the new title is kinda dumb, and i dont really think it reflects the nature of my question.

I think it is because itr.next() is not considered as a string. How can I solve this problem? I tried to replace Set keys by Set<String> keys. It did not help.

Can anyone explain what's happening to the scope of i in this code example, and why the anonymous function isn't capturing its value?

    I'm not a java programmer, I'm a VB programmer. I am doing this as part of an assignment, however, I'm not asking for help on something assignment related. I'd like to figure out how to get the OutputStreamWriter to work properly in this instance. I just want to capture the values I'm generating and place them into a text document. The file is generated, but only one entry exists, not the 40 I'm expecting. I could do this in a heartbeat with VB, but java feels very strange to me right now. Your help is appreciated.   • Need help writing jQuery to loop through table and inject markers into google map?

    I am new to jQuery. I've done some simple things with it but what I am attempting now is a over my head and I need some help. I am building a locator for all the firearms dealers in the US for a client. I am working within Drupal. I have a proximity search by zip code that works great. If you search by zip a list of paginated results shows up in an html table that can by paged through via ajax. I would like a map to be above this list with markers corresponding to the names and addresses being listed. I already have all the lat and long values in the table results. I want the script to update the markers and automatically zoom to fit the markers in the view when a user changes the sort order of the table or pages through the results. Also, I'd like to have a hover highlight effect over the rows of the table that simultaneously highlight the corresponding marker, and have a click on the table row equal a click on a marker that pops up a marker info window to be populated using jQuery to read the name and address fields of the table. Hope this all makes sense. I know I'm putting a lot out there, I'm not asking for someone to write the whole script, just wanted to give as many details as possible. Thanks for any help.   • Is there a better way to avoid an infinite loop using winforms?

    I am using .Net 3.5 for now. Right now I am using a using trick to disable and enable events around certain sections of code. The user can change either days, hours, minutes or total minutes, and that should not cause an infinite cascade of events (e.g. minutes changing total, total changing minutes, etc.) While the code does what I want, there might be a better / more straight-forward way. Do you know of any? For brawny points: This control will be used by multiple teams - I do not want to make it embarrassing. I suspect that I do not need to reinvent the wheel when defining hours in a day, days in week, etc. Some other standard .Net library out there must have it. Any other remarks regarding code? This using (EventHacker.DisableEvents(this)) business - that must be a common pattern in .Net ... changing the setting temporarily. What is the name of it? I'd like to be able to refer to it in a comment and also read up more on current implementations. In the general case not only a handle to the thing being changed needs to be remembered, but also the previous state (in this case previous state does not matter - events are turned on and off unconditionally). Then there is also a possibility of multi-threaded hacking. One could also utilize generics to make the code arguably cleaner. Figuring all this out can lead to a multi-page blog post. I'd be happy to hear some of the answers. P.S. Does it seem like I suffer from obsessive compulsive disorder?   • C# : Forcing a clean run in a long running SQL reader loop?

    I have a SQL data reader that reads 2 columns from a sql db table. once it has done its bit it then starts again selecting another 2 columns. I would pull the whole lot in one go but that presents a whole other set of challenges. My problem is that the table contains a large amount of data (some 3 million rows or so) which makes working with the entire set a bit of a problem. I'm trying to validate the field values so i'm pulling the ID column then one of the other cols and running each value in the column through a validation pipeline where the results are stored in another database. My problem is that when the reader hits the end of handlin one column I need to force it to immediately clean up every little block of ram used as this process uses about 700MB and it has about 200 columns to go through. Without a full Garbage Collect I will definately run out of ram. Anyone got any ideas how I can do this? I'm using lots of small reusable objects, my thought was that I could just call GC.Collect() on the end of each read cycle and that would flush everything out, unfortunately that isn't happening for some reason.

Why? (i imagine it has something to do with the fact that a linq query is lazy, but the fact of looping through the result isn't enough??)

    I'm trying to load random items into a div every few seconds, with a nice fadeOut/fadeIn transition between each load.
