    I am in the process of studying for a test, and I'm trying to work through some practice problems. I've been working on this a while now..but can't figure it out. Please take a look at the code fragment: union { int i; short x; unsigned short u; float f; } testout; testout.i=0xC0208000; Before I ask the question, can someone please explain to me how the above code works?? My guess is that testout.i=0xC0208000 puts either an int, short, unsigned short, or float and puts the result in that address. (?) The question is what prints out if we write printf("%d", testout.x)? I know we should expect digits....but I have no idea where they are getting the digits from....there is no output. Any explanation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    I am using Crystal Reports 2011. I am totally new to crystal reports and reporting tools in general. I just added my data fields to the details section, but instead of showing all the rows in one page, a new page is created for each row. I did not use any grouping or change the section paging settings. This only happens for a blank report, when using the report wizard it works fine, but I can't see the difference between what I did and what the report wizard did.

    I would like to know if its possible to get full screen snapshots from an air application. What i am interested in, is functionality similar to PrintScreen button in windows, which takes snapshots of all screens, including third party application windows, not just window in which air app is running. If its not specific to air, and flash/flex API can provide such functionality, it also would be great. Thanx a lot in advance.

    I need an easy way to show different document-types (.doc, .xls, .jpg...) in webpages. Ideally a user prints or saves that document and that document is automatically converted to Adobe-Flash. I know there are existing solutions to this. However, I would like to implement them in my own application, written in C#. Can anyone point me in a direction how to write a "Printer" in C#, where printable documents can be printed to, and that outputs a SWF-File? Thanks, Reinhard

    Hi, I'm trying to use the PageFormat information to modify my javax.swing based printout prior to printing it. I am stumped as to how I can get the PageFormat from the PrintJob (which is obtained using getPrinterJob() and printDialog()). I know there is the getPageFormat method, but I can't figure out how to get the PrintRequestAttributeSet (which is not the printJob.getPrintService().getPrintAttributes()). Honestly, all I really want to know is the width and height of the page. Any ideas on how I can do that? Thanks.

    Here is a simple program. class Redirection { public static void main (String args[]){ System.out.println("Hello World_Stdout"); System.err.println("Hello World_Stderr"); } } I want to see the all the outputs on a console, but at the same time I want to store stdout and stderr in different files. I tried the following command, to no avail. $java Redirection 3>&1 2>stderr 1>stdout 1>&3 2>&3 stderr& stdout files have the file size of 0. So basically I want to do what "tee" command does but I also want to capture stderr as well.

    Hi, When I read one char* from std::cin and I want to write it to std::cout, it prints until it finds a \0 in memory. So what did was: char c; cin >> c; char* pChar = &c; pChar++; *pChar = '\0'; println(&c); // My own method: void println(char * str) { cout << str << endl; } But I don't think this is a safe action. Is there a safer way to do this?

    Should i keep #wrapper{ width:100%} in print css? because on screen my design is a fixed width design 960 px. but there are so many paper type and sizes in the world and anybody can take print on any size paper, bigger and smaller. So if in print css i do not specify relative width then i think print of page will cut of from right size if user will take print on the paper size which can smaller or larger width than my site #wrapper width (960px). then it can create problem. http://www.dpandi.com/paper/index.html printer also leave some margin when printing. So should keep everything is relative size in print css?

  • ABCpdf7 Not Rendering Images using AddImageUrl

    Fairly exotic it seems to me. We recently upgraded/migrated from Windows Server 2003 to 2008, and now it seems that images cannot be rendered when using Doc.AddImageUrl(). (when the pdf is saved, the images appear at the correct dimensions, but the IE8 missing image x shows up). If I understand correctly, ABCpdf uses IE rendering internally for this sort of thing. We thought it might be a permission issue, but we've check IE ESC and that seems to be configured as they suggest. Has anyone else run into a similar problem? Perhaps a code configuration is needed?     I am able to successfully put a link in the pdf with a friendly name: Anchor anchor = new Anchor("Google", linkFont); anchor.Reference = "https://www.google.com"; doc.Add(anchor); However, I cannot get get the anchor to work within a PdfPCell. Here is what I have tried so far: var memberCell = new PdfPCell(); Anchor anchor = new Anchor("Google", linkFont); anchor.Reference = "https://www.google.com"; memberCell.AddElement(new Anchor(anchor)); That displays the exception: System.ArgumentException: Element not allowed. I also tried: var memberCell = new PdfPCell(); Anchor anchor = new Anchor("Google", linkFont); anchor.Reference = "https://www.google.com"; memberCell.AddElement(new Phrase(anchor)); This does not throw an exception but it isn't a link it is just the word "Google". I am using the newest version of iTextSharp at this time v.(5.4.4.0) Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

  • CGContextDrawPDFPage taking up large amounts of memory

    I have a PDF file that I want to draw in outline form. I want to draw the first several pages on the document each in their own UIImage to use on a button so that when clicked, the main display will navigate to the clicked page. However, CGContextDrawPDFPage seems to be using copious amounts of memory when attempting to draw the page. Even though the image is only supposed to be around 100px tall, the application crashes while drawing one page in particular, which according to Instruments, allocates about 13 MB of memory just for the one page.     Suppose there are two colors defined in CMYK: color1 = 30, 40, 50, 60 color2 = 50, 60, 70, 80 If they were to be printed what values would the resulting color have? color_new = min(cyan1 + cyan2, 100), min(magenta1 + magenta2, 100), min(yellow1 + yellow2, 100), min(black1 + black2, 100)? Suppose there is a color defined in CMYK: color = 40, 30, 30, 100 It is possible to print a color at partial intensity, i.e. as a tint. What values would have a 50% tint of that color? color_new = cyan / 2, magenta / 2, yellow / 2, black / 2? I'm asking this to better understand the "tintTransform" function in PDF Reference 1.7, 4.5.5 Special Color Spaces, DeviceN Color Spaces Update: To better clarify: I'm not entirely concerned with human perception or how the CMYK dyies react to the paper. If someone specifies 90% tint which, when printed, looks like full intensity colorant, that's ok. In other words, if I asking how to compute 50% of cmyk(40, 30, 30, 100) I'm asking how to compute the new values, regardless of whether the result looks half-dark or not. Update 2: I'm confused now. I checked this in InDesign and Acrobat. For example Pantone 3005 has CMYK 100, 34, 0, 2, and its 25% tint has CMYK 25, 8.5, 0, 0.5. Does it mean I can "monkey around in a linear way"?
