• Storing Instances of Classes in Flex Shared Objects

  Is it possible to store instances of a class in a cookie or in shared objects. Basically in my application I have an object "Diagram" that the user can create. If they hit save, I want to store the current instance as a cookie and allows them to reload it later. Alternatively, I could see about getting them to store the saved version on the hard disk. But even then, all I want to save and retreive is my actionscript object. Is this possible? I've tried storing the object to SharedObject.data.diag, but when I try to retrieve the object from the cookie doing SharedObject.data.diag as Diag returns null.

• Why my WCF Service returns xml serialized objects?

  Hi, I'm new here and I hope anyonte can help me. I have WCF Service and Windows Forms working with this client written in VB.NET. The Service class started to return xml serialized objects, but all my classes on Service side are DataContract-s and the service class is DataContractFormat. I googled everywhere about serializations and I couldn't find reason why it started to do that. I checked my classes and service, app.config file, but I couldn't find anything. I checked Reference.vb class, and it's System.Xml.Serialization.XmlElementAttribute everywhere. The question may seem dummy, but I really don't know what to do. I just want to know what can cause the service to act like that. Thank you.

  I don't know if this is the right thing to do. But I'm lookig for tutorials/articles on using objects instead of global variables to store state. For eg. package something # some code here... # that generates errors and uses # something::errors to track errors. package something::errors sub new { my ($this) = @_; bless $this; return $this; } sub setErrors{ my ($this, @errors) = @_; $this->{errors} = \@errors; } sub getErrors{ my ($this) = @_; return $this->{errors}; } Is this better than using global varibles?   Hi everyone, Writing test cases for my project, one test I need is to test deletion. This may not exactly be the right way to go about it, but I've stumbled upon something which isn't making sense to me. Code is like this: [Test] private void DeleteFruit() { BuildTestData(); var f1 = new Fruit("Banana",1,1.5); var f2 = new Fruit("Apple",1,1.5); fm.DeleteFruit(f1,listOfFruit); Assert.That(listOfFruit[1] == f2); } Now the fruit object I create line 5 is the object that I know should be in that position (with this specific dataset) after f1 is deleted. Also if I sit and debug, and manually compare objects listOfFruit[1] and f2 they are the same. But that Assert line fails. What gives?

So then is my conclusion correct, that this inability to provide a reference to an object value, as an object key in a string literal; is this strictly an interpreter/parsing issue?   Hello I am using will_paginte plugin on two objects on a same page. Like on stackoverflow. There is a profile page on which there is a pagination on two things QUestions and answers. I am having problem ie:-- when user is clicking on questions pagination page 2. answers page are also updating. The reason is both is sending a post variable ie params[:page] How to change this variable so that only one should be updated. and how to maintain that user should not lose the other page. ie he is on 3rd page of questions and 1st page of answers and now he click on 5th page of the questions the result should be 3rd page of questions and 5th page of answers.

My current workaround involves using pivot tables, saving as CSV etc and is very messy. A non-VBA solution would be amazing.

  Ive got some nested objects that I am trying to generate reports for. A BackupClient contains BackupVersions and BackupVersions contain BackupFiles. I passed in the list of BackupClients - and the report displays the client name, etc.... but to display the versions - It says I have to have a Binding Source for BackupVersions. If I pull all of the versions out of the clients and put them in a different BindingSource, then my data is no longer together - how is the report viewer going to list the versions for client X - if I just have a binding source with ALL clients versions in it?

  To make it easy, lets say I have an arraylist allBooks containing class "books" and an arraylist someBooks containing some but not all of the "books". Using contains() method worked fine when I wanted to see if a book from one arraylist was also contained in another. The problem was that this isn't working anymore when I save both of the Arraylists to a .bin file and load them back once the program restarts. Doing the same test as before, the contains() returns false even if the compared objects are the same (have the same info inside). I solved it by overloading the equals method and it works fine, but I want to know why did this happen?

  I have a cyclic graph-like structure that is represented by Node objects. A Node is either a scalar value (leaf) or a list of n=1 Nodes (inner node). Because of the possible circular references, I cannot simply use a recursive HashCode() function, that combines the HashCode() of all child nodes: It would end up in an infinite recursion. While the HashCode() part seems at least to be doable by flagging and ignoring already visited nodes, I'm having some troubles to think of a working and efficient algorithm for Equals(). To my surprise I did not find any useful information about this, but I'm sure many smart people have thought about good ways to solve these problems...right? Example (python): A = [ 1, 2, None ]; A[2] = A B = [ 1, 2, None ]; B[2] = B A is equal to B, because it represents exactly the same graph. BTW. This question is not targeted to any specific language, but implementing hashCode() and equals() for the described Node object in Java would be a good practical example.

  I have an NSTextField bound to some object "zoom" property. In this object's class implementation, I have the following - (void)setZoom:(CGFloat)zoom { _zoom = MAX(0, MIN(10, zoom)); } If I write "-5" in the textfield, setZoom: will be called with "-5" as argument and _zoom will be set to 0. Then problem is that the textfield is not updating itself and it shows "-5" instead of re-reading the property value it has just set. If I do myObject.zoom = -5; in code, the text field will display 0 correctly. I tried to wrap _zoom =... inside willChangeValueForKey/didChangeValueForKey calls but it didn't change anything.

  Hello, I'm working on the app that uses CoreData. There is location entity that holds latitude and longitude values. I'd like to fetch those entities sorted by distance to the user's location. I tried to set sort descriptor to distance formula sqrt ((x1 - x2)^2 + (y1 - y2)^2) but it fails with exception "... keypath ... not found in entity". • How to check if canvas objects overlap each other

  I'm trying to check if two objects (e.g. a rectangle and a triangle) on a HTML5 canvas are overlapping each other. Currently I can only check that by looking at the screen (having set globalCompositeOperation='lighter'). My first idea would have been to scan all over the canvas if the "lighter" (compare code snippet above) color exists in the canvas. But therefor I would have to look at every single pixel which was rather costly for what I need. Is there a (better) alternative to automatically check if they are overlapping? Best regards.

  I am trying to accomplish something like this query: var query = from a in DatabaseTable where listOfObjects.Any(x => x.Id == a.Id) select a; Basically, I want to filter the results where a.Id equals a property of one of the objects in the generic list "listOfObjects". I'm getting the error "Local sequence cannot be used in LINQ to SQL implementation of query operators except the Contains() operator." Any ideas on how to filter this in an easily readable way using "contains" or another method? Thanks in advance.

  I've got a abstract class class A { public: virtual void somefunction() = ; }; and some different classes that inherit this class: class Ab { public: void somefunction(); }; etc. I want to make a vector containing some objects of these classes (how many depends on input parameters) so I can access these easily later. However I'm a bit lost on how to do this. My best idea is vector<A> *objectsVector; Ab AbObject; objectsVector.push_back(AbObject); However this gives me a huge amout of errors from various .h files in /usr/include/c++ How should i solve this?
