  • How to respond to any kind of interruption?

    My app is playing a pretty complex animation. It's like a flipbook. What I do is: I have a huge loop with selectors, and after every delayed call the next one is called. Now someone calls the user and the device suddenly shows up this fat green status bar and maybe some big pick-up-the-phone-call overlay. Or: The alarm clock rings, and a big alert sheet appears in front of just about everything. It would be great to just pause the whole animation in case of ANY interruption. Probably I've also missed like 5 more possible interruptions. How are you doing that? How do you get notified for all interruptions and then call one single -stopEverything method?

    Hey Guys, I have made one project in java. Now in this particular module, i am showing the user , so i am showing them a stock inventory. Now for doing this. As you will see in the screen shot [ i have put screenshot so you can understand well ]. To show the images , i have made one table and i have put labels in that and then i am setting the icon at the label. Now as soon as user click on the any image, then that image i put on big label. But this works perfect on mouse click but client want that , if user navigate the by keyboard arrow keys then in same should be happen. Means : User navigate by key board then it should reflect on that table [user should know that which is currently seleted ] and then as soon as the user navigate by key board arrow events and then click enter then that image should reflect on big label.   • Using indentation to make CSS more readable? (making parents and children more identifiable in CSS)

    I've been always guiding myself with the following CSS structure: #nav { } #nav li { } #nac li a { } This structure tells me clearly who is the parent and the child. But in a recent article (I think it was CSS Trick) someone said that CSS is read from right to left. So the more tags I had the slower it will be (and sometimes I think its unnecessary to write every single tag involve in the selector). So it may be something like this: #nav { } #special-link { } where #special-link is #nav's child. I know this is not a big problem in a simple stylesheet but in a big one I always would get confused about who is who's parent and child. Another solution would be: #nav { } #special-link { } Indentation How do you solve with this CSS dilemma?

  • Remote Server: Please wait for the System Event Notification Service

    I was rebooting a remote server (Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard) over remote desktop and the session now shows the blue screen during the shutdown sequence, and the message "Please wait for the System Event Notification Service..." It seems that everything is still running on the server (for instance, http://jeffhandley.com is still responding), but I need to get the machine to finish the reboot sequence. How can I force the machine past this point? It's been stuck there for about 30 minutes.

  • Does anyone have an updated version of the SQLite .NET assembly, ie. SQLite 3.6.23.1 + possibly .NET

    I'm at my wits end with the best .NET assembly version of SQLite, the one found at http://sqlite.phxsoftware.com. The only maintainer doesn't seem to have the time to update the library and it generally takes months, if not more, for newer versions to surface. Luckily, he has published the source code, so I'm hoping that someone else has made his/her own copy of it, and made the changes, and would be willing to share a copy. I've seen comments on the forums for the library to this effect, but sadly even the forum software seems to be grinding to a halt these days as password reminder emails seems to be lost to the big void, so I can't ask the few there that has said they have done it. So I'm here, hopefully the big userbase of StackOverflow can help. What I'm looking for: Updated with the latest changes to SQLite, ie. SQLite version 3.6.23.1 Possibly built for .NET 4.0 (I can do that if I can get a copy of working source) Does anyone have, or know of anyone, that has done this?

  • Error using \Glsentrytext{} in section title.

    When using the glossaries package in a LaTeX document I occasionally want to use a glossary entry as part of section or chapter title. For example: \section{\Glsentrytext{big}} This however results in an error. Trying to use \protect\Glsentrytext{} does not solve the the problem. Note that using the non-capitalized version (\glsentrytext) does not produce any problems. Does anyone know of a way to get this to work? I use the glossaries package occasionally as way to format specific strings in a consistent way. For example \gls{big} turns into 'beam-into-gas'. Obviously I could create two glossary entries, with and without caps, to achieve this and only include one in the final glossary. That is an ugly solution though.

    I'm attempting to mimic the function used for creating CRC's in PNG files, I'm using the autodin II polynomial and the source code from: http://www.opensource.apple.com/source/xnu/xnu-1456.1.26/bsd/libkern/crc32.c My tests have all been for the IHDR chunk, so my parameters have been: crc - 0xffffffff and 0 (both have been suggested) buff - the address of the IHDR Chunk's type. length - the IHDR Chunk's length + 4 (the length of the chunk's data + the length of the type) I printed the calculated CRC in binary, which I compared to the actual CRC of the chunk. I can see no similarities (little-big endian, reversed bits, XOR'd, etc). This is the data for the IHDR chunk (hexadecimal format): length(big endian): d0 00 00 00 (13) type: 49 48 44 52 data: 00 00 01 77 00 00 01 68 08 06 00 00 00 existing CRC: b0 bb 40 ac If anyone can tell me why my calculations are off, or give me a CRC32 function that will work I would greatly appreciate it.     HI, Currently i have one big datacontex with 35 tables (i dragged all my DB tables to the designer). I must admit it is very comfortable cause i have ORM to my full DB and query with linq is easy and simple. My questions are: 1. Would you consider it bad design to have one datacontext with 35 tables or should i split it to logic units? 2. Is there any performance penalties for using such a big datacontext? Thanks, Pini.

  • Recommended USB 3.0 PCI/PCIX adapter for older Dell

    Can anyone recommend a USB 3.0 adapter for my older Dell server? It does not have PCI express (PCIe) so I was looking for PCI or PCIX. I have been burned in the past installing "desktop" class drives on servers (i.e. blue screens under heavy load) so I would rather pay more to get something reliable. We are hoping to get better speed on our backups to an external drive, even 10% improvement would be worth it.

  • Webservice for serial port devices

    Hi I want to create a remote webservice for an application that is now avaliable only localy. This application controlls three devices (each is controlled separately) connected on serial port. The problem is that I don't know how to take care of passing back information that a device return requested data. For example - I send move command to the motion device (which is very slow and can take a minute or more). Can I just set a big timeout on the client side (and server side) and return for example a true/false if operation is completed or is this a bad idea? Is SOAP with big timeouts ok? And the other question is if Mono on Linux (Ubuntu 9.10, Mono 2.4) is stable enought for making a web service or should I chose Java or some other language? I'm open for recommendations.     I'm working on this big website and I want to put it online before its fully finished... I'm working locally and the database is getting really big so I wanted to upload the website and continue to work on it in the server, but allowing people to enter, so I can test. The question is if this is good for SEO, I mean, there are a lot of things SEO related that are incomplete.. For example: there are no friendly URLs, no sitemap, no .htacces file, lot of 'in-construction' sections... Does Google will penalize me forever? How does it works? Google indexes adn get the structure of the site just once or its constantly updating and checking for changes??? What i should do? What you recommend?!!?

  • Xcode File management. What is best practice?

    I've been using Xcode for a while now. One thing that always bugs me is the way it handles files. I like to have my files all in nested folders rather than one big physical folder, but when you create a group in Xcode by default it does not create a folder just a virtual folder within the project. I can see that virtual folders are great for linking code in arbitrary places into your project but once you get beyond a few classes I find the one big folder approach really painful. And then if you try to fix it later it takes ages and is easy to break your build. Is it possible to change this behaviour so that by default it creates a physical folder? Or am I doing it wrong and trying to cling to some other way of working? How do other people work with files in Xcode?

    I have to parse a big bunch of log files, which are in the following format. SOME SQL STATEMENT/QUERY DB20000I The SQL command completed successfully. SOME OTHER SQL STATEMENT/QUERY DB21034E The command was processed as an SQL statement because it was not a valid Command Line Processor command. EDIT 1: The first 3 lines (including a blank line) indicate an SQL statement executed successfully, while the next three show the statement and the exception it caused. darioo's reply below, suggesting the use of grep instead of Java, works beautifully for a single line SQL statement. EDIT 2: However, the SQL statement/query might not be a single line, necessarily. Sometimes it is a big CREATE PROCEDURE...END PROCEDURE block. Can this problem be overcome using only Unix commands too? Now I need to parse through the entire log file and pick all occurrences of the pair of (SQL statement + error) and write them in a separate file. Please show me how to do this!

  • What's the reason why core data takes care of the life-cycle of modeled properties?

    The docs say that I should not release any modeled property in -dealloc. For me, that feels like violating the big memory management rules. I see a big retain in the header and no -release, because Core Data seems to do it at any other time. Is it because Core Data may drop the value of a property dynamically, at any time when needed? And what's Core Data doing when dropping an managed object? If there's no -dealloc, then how and when are the properties getting freed up?

    I have a huge plain text document, about 700kb which is very big for plain texts and I need to format it on cloud converting it to HTML, but the only things that I need to replace, format to HTML so it can be displayed by the browser, are bold and italic. For bold at the plain text they are like this: Not on bold... **bold text here** not bold here And italic like this: Not italic... *italic text* no italic Just like StackOverflow does for their formatting, but the problem is that I need to make it a lot faster, since the text is so big... One of my ideas was to add a page slide, so I the script just need to format some part of the text, not it all, then after the user changes the page the script would be called again, but the problem is how I can make the code for this all?

  • raid 0 failure, drives look fine

    Hello, after a lovely blue screen my vista 64 machine decided to reconfigure one of my drives to no longer be part of my raid volume. So now my raid fails as it only has one member disk. This happened to me about 6 months ago and I just changed the disk in question back to a raid disk and all was well. However I cant seem to find that option in my bios or raid config anymore :( Any help would be appreciated

  • Adjust colours in a PDF

    I'd like to make colour adjustments to an existing PDF file, the equivalent of Photoshop's adjustments, and save a new version with the altered colours. I'm after more than a colourspace conversion. I'd like to take a file that's black and white, and convert it into green, blue, yellow, pink etc versions. It's upwards of 100 pages full of text and graphic elements, so doing it by hand isn't really an option. Is there any way of achieving this?

  • How can chunks be allocated in a node.js stream in object mode all at once?

    I can see how buffers, and strings can be sent as chunks, but I'm having a problem thinking about how streams can be dealt when working in object mode. Say I have a byte stream from an http request message. I want to take that message, parse, and then transform it into one big object. I already know how to parse the message. What I'm wondering is if the message is big so it has many chunks, but I want to make one object for the output how can I make sure the data event waits for the whole thing? Is this just a matter of not using the push method until the chunked data has finished being sent? That would then restrict the stream data output to a smaller object which I think I'm fine with for now. As an added condition the larger data will be reduced in size after the the transform.

For example see this screenshot: I am interested in the dark blue background. I heard that this background is somehow adapted to your chosen color theme. So many different variations should exist. Engadget has an article here briefly talking about these background patterns and the different color schemes. They call them "personalization tattoos".
