• WCF - Disabling security in nettcpbinding (c#)

  Hello everyone. I'm trying to make a self hosted WCF app that uses nettcpbinding but works in an environment without a domain. It's just two regular windows pc's, one is the server and the other one will be the client. The problem with this is that when I try to get the client to connect it's rejected because of the security settings. Can you please point me in the right direction as to how I can get this scenario to work? Should I (if possible) disable security? Is there another (hopefully simple) way to accomplish this?   I want to make my avl tree support adding duplicates but there is a problem with the default behavior of the binary search tree with duplicates that the rotation could make nodes with equal key be on the left and the right of the parent for example adding A,A,A will cause the tree to do a rotation to be something like that A / \ A A so getting all the entries with that key will be a problem...and searching in both direction is not something good the solution that i have thought of is making each node stores an array of duplicates so when adding a new item that already exists will be just adding a new item to the array , removing item with key will delete the whole node while the find all items with key will return that array. are there are any other methods to handle duplicates ?

  Im adding items to TreeView control via ItemsSource property and ItemTemplate property to set the template for TreeViewItem. How can i add an event handler to handle selection change event on TreeViewItems? • Background processing in rails

  Hi, This might seem like a FAQ on stackoverflow, but my requirements are a little different. While I have previously used BackgroundRB and DJ for running background processes in ruby, my requirement this time is to run some heavy analytics and mathematical computations on a huge set of data, and I need to do this only about the first 15 days of the month. Going by this, I am tempted to use cron and run a ruby script to accomplish this goal. What I would like to know / understand is: 1 - Is using cron a good idea (cause I'm not a system admin, and so while I have basic idea of cron, I'm not overly confident of doing it perfectly) 2 - Can we somehow modify DJ to run only on the first 15 days of the month (with / without using cron), and then just stop and exit once all the jobs in the queue for the day are over (don't want it to ping the DB every time for a new job...whatever the jobs will be in the queue when DJ starts, that will be all). I'm not sure if I have put the question in the right manner, but any help in this direction will be much appreciated. Thanks

• Rotating images + content - jQuery or MooTools?

  I've found a feature on two different websites that I'd like to include on one of my web projects, but I can't figure out how they're doing it. I think they're using either jQuery or mootools, but I'm not sure. http://www.x-plane.com/index_desktop.html I'm new here so I don't have the reputation to post the other link, but if you do a Google search for "Andrews Institute of Orthopaedics" its the top result. I'll see if I can answer a few questions to earn my keep. The thing that I like about these is that the images and text (including links) are all rotated together. I've done a few web searches related to cycle, rotate and slide but it's not coming together for me. Can anyone give me a nudge in the right direction?

• Having problems with a mask in C#

  I guess this would be a DevExpress mask, but here is what I have: var dlEdit = new DevExpress.XtraEditors.Repository.RepositoryItemTextEdit(); dlEdit.Mask.MaskType = MaskType.RegEx; dlEdit.Mask.EditMask = "\\d{1,10}"; I'm trying to get a number that can be up to 10 digits in length that WILL accept leading 0's, as it is now it will show the leading 0's (ex. 0032421243) until the field is clicked off in which case it removes them. I tried a numeric masktype but same thing only it wouldn't let me enter the 0's to start with at all. I thought this would be my answer but this custom type isn't. Can someone point me in the right direction for what I need? Maybe a different type of mask or something?

• Jquery UI Slider focus issue

  I have a problem with the jQuery UI Slider. The issue also appears on the demo. It is more obvious in Chrome - if you go to http://jqueryui.com/demos/slider/#steps and slide the slider, you'll not see anything wrong. If you then click "New Window" or go to (http://jqueryui.com/demos/slider/steps.html) to view the demo in a new window and try sliding the slider, you'll see the handle of the slider gets a focus box around it during dragging. I am having this problem and I cannot seem to fix it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

• how to make a universal iphone/ipad app programmatically, navigation controller for iphone and spli

  I couldn't find a good answer anywhere. I am using a UINavigationController for my iphone app and everything is done 100% programmatically no xibs. So i am trying to port my app to ipad, i tried to use a UISplitViewController and link my existing tableView and etc.. Now, i am not sure where should i have the logic of my program separating the viewcontroller for iphone or ipad.. do i setup my main file to use a different appdelegate or i use a same appdelegae and have the condition set up there ? now beside this, whenever i try to complile my app on the simulator it does not recognize the uisplitview and even the condition in which i check if the class exists. can please someone put me in the right direction.. and remember i am not using xibs?

• Do not fetch app.manifest each time

  For creating an offline version of a bunch of linked web pages I use an app.manifest-file that lists all the web pages for offline caching. I would like it that the app.manifest file is not fetched every time when a user jumps from one web page to another. Most of the web pages will never be updated once the application is on the iPhone. Also the target audience is abroad so roaming costs could add up while users are using my "web app". Searching the internet made me think in the direction of forcing an offline mode in Mobile Safari using Javascript but I don't know if this is the right way to go or if it is even possible. Does anyone have any other and/or better ideas and suggestions on how to do this?

• Debugging asp.net with firefox and visual studio.net - very slow compared to IE

  Debugging asp.net websites/web projects in visual studio.net 2005 with Firefox is loads slower than using IE. I've read something somewhere that there is a way of fixing this but i can't for the life of me find it again. Does anyone know what i'm on about and can point me in the right direction please? I prefer Firefox for debugging (firebug etc) hitting F5 when debugging with IE the browser launches really quickly and clicking around my web application is almost instant and when a breakpont is hit i get to my code straight away with no delays. hitting F5 when debugging with FireFox the browser launches really slowly (ok i have plugins that slow FF loading) but clicking around my web application is really really slow and when a breakpoint is hit it takes ages to break into code. i swear i've read something somewhere that there is a setting in Firefox (about:config maybe?) that when changed to some magic setting sorts all this out.

  I'm using Python and I'm not trying to extract the value, but rather test to make sure it fits the pattern. allowed values: spam123-spam-eggs-eggs1 spam123-eggs123 spam 123 eggs123 I just can't have a dash at the starting or the end. There is a question on here that works in the opposite direction by getting the string value after the fact, but I simply need to test for the value so that I can disallow it. Also, it can be a maximum of 25 chars long, but a minimum of 4 chars long. Here's what I've come up with after some experimentation with lookbehind, etc: # Nothing here

• Android - Redirect sending of SMS message

  I currently use a ContentObserver to listen for changes in the SMS ContentProvider and tell my application whether a message has been sent or received. Upon getting notification that a message is being sent I would like to present the user the option to send that SMS normally over GSM/CDMA or if connected to Wifi to send the SMS over an ip connection. I am aware of how to present my own application as an option to create and send an SMS when a user clicks on a contacts information and "Send SMS" but this is not what I want. I want the user to be able to use the native or a 3rd party SMS application and when they try to send an SMS present them with a dialog screen giving them the option to send the SMS in whichever direction they want. So is it possible that once I get notified an SMS is being sent to pause it, allow the user to pick the desired route to send it and then change the sms from being sent over GSM/CDMA to being sent using a protocol over IP if required?

  Hey guys. I am 12 years old and I have had a small amount of experience with BASIC. I am thinking about learning Python, but I’m not sure if I should learn the 2.6 version or the 3.0 version. I don’t really care about the support for libraries or anything along those lines quite yet. I was wondering if it is easier to code in 3.0 than 2.6. And is it more fun and productive? I would also appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction for a simple yet complete tutorial that is easy to understand and possible teaches Object Oriented Programing. I don’t really care if it teaches OOP or not. One more thing; if I do learn python, is it possible to easily compile a python source code file into a 'stand-alone' .exe file for Windows? I really liked that functionality in BASIC. Thanks!!!!

• How do I perform an HSL transform on a texture?

  If I have an OpenGL texture, and I need to perform HSL modifications on it before rendering the texture, from what I've heard I need a shader. Problem is, I know nothing about shaders. Does anyone know where I would need to look? I want to write a function where I can pass in a texture and three values, a hue shift in degrees, and saturation and lightness multipliers between 0 and 2, and then have it call a shader that will apply these transformations to the texture before it renders. The interface would look something like this: procedure HSLTransform(texture: GLuint; hShift: integer; sMult, lMult: GLfloat); I have no idea what's supposed to go inside the routine, though. I understand the basic math involved in HSL/RGB conversions, but I don't know how to write a shader or how to apply it. Can someone point me in the right direction? Delphi examples preferred, but I can also read C if I have to.

  I'd like to try writing my own minimal NT subsystem on Windows 7 for purely educational purposes -- something like a bare-bones equivalent of the posix.exe in Microsoft's Subsystem for Unix-based Applications. But I can't seem to find any public documentation on this topic. What API does a subsystem need to implement? How does it get registered with Windows? How does the subsystem image need to be built (what flags need to be set in the PE header, etc.)? I'd most like to find a book or web site with an overview of the entire subject, or even the source code for a "hello world" NT subsystem that someone else has written. But anything at all would be appreciated if you can point me in the right direction here...

  I have an application that displays the data from 3 xml files (auto generated from SQL table) using httpservices to get them. The first xml file is small and contains around 30 items, the second and thrid contain around 200-300 items each. The first dataset loads quickly and is invoked on creationComplete. The second and third are called from click events and take quite a few seconds to load. A user of the application will take at least 2-3 minutes reading the data from the first dataset so is there a way I can have the httpservice.send for the second and third xml files called automatically, straight after the first file has finished loading to be able to show the first dataset immediateley and get rid of the waiting times between dataset views. An answer doesnt need to be specific, just a point in the right direction would be great. All answers greatly appreciated Matt

• Marker Recognition on Android (recognising Rubik's Cubes)

  Hi everybody. I'm developing an augmented reality application for Android that uses the phone's camera to recognise the arrangement of the coloured squares on each face of a Rubik's Cube. One thing that I am unsure about is how exactly I would go about detecting and recognising the coloured squares on each face of the cube. If you look at a Rubik's Cube then you can see that each square is one of six possible colours with a thin black border. This lead me to think that it should be relativly simply to detect a square, possibly using an existing marker detection API. My question is really, has anybody here had any experience with image recognition and Android? Ideally I'd like to be able to implement and existing API, but it would be an interesting project to do from scratch if somebody could point me in the right direction to get started. • NServiceBus persisting subscriptions in Pub/Sub sample

  I want to figure out how I to set up the Pub/Sub sample from NServiceBus to work in the case of publisher malfunction. When I start the samples and accidentaly close the Subscribers, if I restart everything works fine. If however I kill the publisher and the subscriptions continue to work, if I restart the publisher, then it doesn't seem to know it has subscribers and doesn't post any messages. I added the config entry <MsmqSubscriptionStorageConfig Queue="subscriptions"/> but it seems to not function... I miss something. I googled about MsmqSubscriptionStorageConfig and DbSubscriptionStorageConfig but i didn't find a solution. Could someone point me in the right direction ?

• Fastest way to calculate an X-bit bitmask?

  I have been trying to solve this problem for a while, but couldn't with just integer arithmetic and bitwise operators. However, I think its possible and it should be fairly easy. What am I missing? The problem: to get an integer value of arbitrary length (this is not relevant to the problem) with it's X least significant bits sets to 1 and the rest to 0. For example, given the number 31, I need to get an integer value which equals 0x7FFFFFFF (31 least significant bits are 1 and the rest zeros). Of course, using a loop OR-ing a shifted 1 to an integer X times will do the job. But that's not the solution I'm looking for. It should be more in the direction of (X << Y - 1), thus using no loops.

  Hi, I have inherited a web project that is perl based and I'm attempting to set up a local testing server so changes can be made internally to the project. The server architecture Ubuntu 9.10 php 5.2.10 mysql 5.1.37 perl 5.10.0-24ubuntu4 All the dependent modules and packages are installed such as DateTime.pm, TemplateToolkit.pm but running the application throws the following error message: Can't locate object method "new" via package "Template" (perhaps you forgot to load "Template"?) at ../lib//KPS/TemplateToolkit.pm line 51 The code block that this refers to is: sub new { return Template->new( INCLUDE_PATH => $KPS::Config::templatepath, ABSOLUTE => 1, DEBUG => 1, ); } If anybody is able to shed any light on this or point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. • Scrolling when idle?

  Can anyone point me to an example of code for a page that begins to automatically scroll when the user is idle for an amount of time? I think this is slightly beyond my skill set. I think JQuery or something similar might be appropriate but I just can't seem to figure it out. I'm designing a site for the nonprofit I work for and we don't have the money to hire a programmer. • Adding a UIBarButtonItem to a programattically allocated UINavigationBar

  I have a cameraoverlayview that allocates a UINavigationBar to the top of the screen like this - CGRect navbarFrame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 44); navigationBar = [[UINavigationBar alloc] initWithFrame:navbarFrame]; navigationBar.delegate = self; Now I want to add a UIBarButtonItem as the left button to the navigation bar, but the standard navigationbar.leftitem doesn't work. So I tried doing this - closebutton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithTitle:closebuttontext style:UIBarButtonItemStylePlain target:self action:@selector(close)]; navigationBar.topItem.leftBarButtonItem = closebutton; But it doesn't work either. Can anyone point me in the right direction? As far as the navigation bar loading up correctly in the cameraoverlayview, it works 100%.
