  • Visual Studio 2008: Start custom build target via project/solution context menu - without add-in

    - by Achim
I have a custom build target in a visual studio 2008 c# project. Is there a simple way to add a context menu item to the project, so that the custom build target can be executed via the ide? The build target is not integrated into the default build process and has to be started by hand. This step should be simple for all developers and should not force them to execute msbuild from the command line. Any hint for a simple, working solution? regards, Achim

  • Creating a drop-down row in displaytag

    - by bphilipnyc
I am currently using displaytag for tabular data, but would like to create a "kayak.com-like" interface where when a user clicks a row, the user is shown more details about the particular row without a page refresh. I tried using a decorator to return javascript that would do this. The javascript is executed, but it is only reflected in the column where it was rendered. I am looking to create a new row with the data. e.g.: public class CustomDecorator extends TableDecorator { public String getDetailsRow() { MyObject object = (MyObject)this.getCurrentRowObject(); return "<a onClick=\"myjsfunction(object.getId()); return true\">Details</a>"; } } ...and in the JSP I would have a detailsRow property nested between the display:table tags: <display:column property="detailsRow" sortable="false" /> Any tips on how to create a new row? The solution may be in the way that the javascript is written - I'm not an expert with Javascript, so any tips would be appreciated. Is there a better way to do this with displaytag? I don't know of any explicit integration that displaytag has with javascript (like an "onclick" parameter) either. This is my first question on stackoverflow, btw - so please let me know whether you need more detail.

  • .NET assembly cache / ngen / jit image warm-up and cool-down behavior

    - by Mike Jiang
Hi, I have an Input Method (IME) program built with C#.NET 2.0 DLL through C++/CLI. Since an IME is always attaching to another application, the C#.NET DLL seems not able to avoid image address rebasing. Although I have applied ngen to create a native image of that C#.NET 2.0 DLL and installed it into Global Assembly Cache, it didn't improved much, approximately 12 sec. down to 9 sec. on a slow PIII level PC. Therefore I uses a small application, which loads all the components referenced by the C#.NET DLL at the boot up time, to "warm up" the native image of that DLL. It works fine to speed up the loading time to 0.5 sec. However, it only worked for a while. About 30 min. later, it seems to "cool down" again. Is there any way to control the behavior of GAC or native image to be always "hot"? Is this exactly a image address rebasing problem? Thank you for your precious time. Sincerely, Mike

  • WinForms Menu Toolstrip Get Status

    - by Yeti
So I have a project where there is some automatic initialization going on through some classes that are created automatically as global variables (yeah they are static instances). At a point inside this (it has no relation with the C# GUI for the user, so it isn't derived from any C# class) I need to see if a flag is set or not. I use toolstrip menu with checked and unchecked status in order to set or unset the flag. The problem is that I have difficulties to see if the flag is checked or not from this static class. My class is inside a different project/namespace and a DLL is created what later is linked to the GUI of the application. The GUI depends from this Manager class so making the Manager class to depend from the GUI is not an option. Nevertheless, I should be able to see its state knowing its name or through some other means. I have tried the following: if(Application.OpenForms[1].Owner.Controls["useLocalImageForInitToolStripMenuItem"].Enabled) { }; Now the problem is that on the upper code snippet I get a nasty error. So how do I do this? The toolstrip menu: The error: See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box. ***** Exception Text ******* System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. • z-index issues with jQuery Tabs, Superfish Menu

    - by NightMICU
Hi all, For the life of me I cannot get my Superfish menu to stop hiding behind my jQuery UI tabs in IE 7. I have read the documentation out there, have tried changing z-index values and tried the bgIframe plugin, although I am not sure if I am implementing it correctly (left out in my example below, using Supersubs). Here is the Javascript I am using for Superfish - using the Supersubs plugin: $(document).ready(function() { $("ul.sf-menu").supersubs({ minWidth: 12, // minimum width of sub-menus in em units maxWidth: 27, // maximum width of sub-menus in em units extraWidth: 1 // extra width can ensure lines don't sometimes turn over // due to slight rounding differences and font-family }).superfish({ delay: 1000, // one second delay on mouseout animation: {opacity:'show',height:'show'}, // fade-in and slide-down animation speed: 'medium' // faster animation speed }); }); And here is the structure of my page: <div id="page-container"> <div id="header"></div> <div id="nav-admin"> <!-- This is where Superfish goes --> </div> <div id="header-shadow"></div> <div id="content"> <div id="admin-main"> <div id="tabs"> <ul> <li><a href="#tabs-1">Tab 1</a></li> <li><a href="#tabs-2">Tab 2</a></li> </ul> <div id="tabs-1"> <!-- Content for Tab 1 --> </div> <div id="tabs-2"> <!-- Content for Tab 2 --> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div id="footer-shadow"></div> <div id="footer"> <div id="alt-nav"> <?php include $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'] . '/includes/altnav.inc.php'; //CHANGE WHEN UPLOADED TO MATCH DOCUMENT ROOT ?> </div> </div> </div>

You could also flip that array around when needed to tie timezones to city names.

  • Problem in vertical navigation menu using css sprites

    - by ShiVik
    Hello all I am trying to create to a vertical navigation menu using CSS sprites. I want to put in it a hover effect where the menu option slides out a bit. a:link { background: url(images/nav.png); background-position: -100px 0px; width: 150px; } a:hover { background: url(images/nav.png); background-position: -100px 0px; width: 160px; } So I am using the same image, I am just increasing its size to create a pop out effect. But my problem is that right now the image's size is increasing to the right. I want to keep the image's base aligned and its head should pop out. Here's my complete css code: #navmenu { left: 100px; margin: 0; padding: 0; position: absolute; top: 150px; width: 150px; z-index: 99; } #navmenu ul { list-style-type: none; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; } #navmenu ul li { line-height: 1.5em; padding: 0px; } #navimenu ul li a { color: black; display: block; font-weight: bold; height: 26px; padding: 0px 15px 0px 0px; text-align: right; width: 150px; } #navmenu a:link, #navmenu a:visited { background: url(images/nav.png) no-repeat; background-position: -150px 0px; width: 150px; } #navmenu a:hover { background: url(images/nav.png) no-repeat; background-position: -150px 0px; width: 160px; } Don't know how much if I've put the problem correctly but can somebody help me out here? Thanks

  • How to access drop down list from EditItemTemplate of FormView

    - by IrfanRaza
Hello friends, I have a formview on my aspx page containing various controls arranged using table. There is a DDL "cboClients" which i need to enable or disabled depending upon role within Edit mode. The problem here is that i am not able to get that control using FindControl() method. I have tried following code - DropDownList ddl = null; if (FormView1.Row != null) { ddl = (DropDownList)FormView1.Row.FindControl("cboClients"); ddl.Enabled=false; } Even I ave used the DataBound event of the same control - protected void cboClients_DataBound(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (FormView1.CurrentMode == FormViewMode.Edit) { if ((Session["RoleName"].ToString().Equals("Clients")) || (Session["RoleName"].ToString().Equals("Suppliers"))) { DropDownList ddl = (DropDownList)sender; ddl.Enabled = false; } } } But this databound event occurs only once, but not when formview mode is changed. Can anyone provide me proper solution? Thanks for sharing your time.

  • Program Structure Design Tools? (Top Down Design)

    - by Lee Olayvar
I have been looking to expand my methodologies to better involve Unit testing, and i stumbled upon Behavioral Driven Design (Namely Cucumber, and a few others). I am quite intrigued by the concept as i have never been able to properly design top down, only because keeping track of the design gets lost without a decent way to record it. So on that note, in a mostly language agnostic way, are there any useful tools out there i am (probably) unaware of? Eg, i have often been tempted to try building flow charts for my programs, but i am not sure how much that will help, and it seems a bit confusing to me how i could make a complex enough flow chart to handle the logic of a full program, and all its features.. ie, it just seems like flow charts would be limiting in the design scheme.. or possibly grow to an unmaintainable scale. BDD methods are nice, but with a system that is so tied to structure, tying into the language and unit testing seems like a must (for it to be worth it) and it seems to be hard to find something to work well with both Python and Java (my two main languages). So anyway.. on that note, any comments are much appreciated. I have searched around on here and it seems like top down design is a well discussed topic, but i haven't seen too much reference to tools themselves, eg, flow chart programs, etc. I am on Linux, if it matters (in the case of programs).

  • CakePHP Test Fixtures Drop My Tables Permanently After Running A Test Case

    - by Frank
I'm not sure what I've done wrong in my CakePHP unit test configuration. Every time I run a test case, the model tables associated with my fixtures are missing form my test database. After running an individual test case I have to re-import my database tables using phpMyAdmin. Here are the relevant files: This is the class I'm trying to test comment.php. This table is dropped after the test. App::import('Sanitize'); class Comment extends AppModel{ public $name = 'Comment'; public $actsAs = array('Tree'); public $belongsTo = array('User' => array('fields'=>array('id', 'username'))); public $validate = array( 'text' = array( 'rule' =array('between', 1, 4000), 'required' ='true', 'allowEmpty'='false', 'message' = "You can't leave your comment text empty!") ); database.php class DATABASE_CONFIG { var $default = array( 'driver' = 'mysql', 'persistent' = false, 'host' = 'project.db', 'login' = 'projectman', 'password' = 'projectpassword', 'database' = 'projectdb', 'prefix' = '' ); var $test = array( 'driver' = 'mysql', 'persistent' = false, 'host' = 'project.db', 'login' = 'projectman', 'password' = 'projectpassword', 'database' = 'testprojectdb', 'prefix' = '' ); } My comment.test.php file. This is the table that keeps getting dropped. <?php App::import('Model', 'Comment'); class CommentTestCase extends CakeTestCase { public $fixtures = array('app.comment', 'app.user'); function start(){ $this-Comment =& ClassRegistry::init('Comment'); $this-Comment-useDbConfig = 'test_suite'; } This is my comment_fixture.php class: <?php class CommentFixture extends CakeTestFixture { var $name = "Comment"; var $import = 'Comment'; } And just in case, here is a typical test method in the CommentTestCase class function testMsgNotificationUserComment(){ $user_id = '1'; $submission_id = '1'; $parent_id = $this-Comment-commentOnModel('Submission', $submission_id, '0', $user_id, "Says: A"); $other_user_id = '2'; $msg_id = $this-Comment-commentOnModel('Submission', $submission_id, $parent_id, $other_user_id, "Says: B"); $expected = array(array('Comment'=array('id'=$msg_id, 'text'="Says: B", 'submission_id'=$submission_id, 'topic_id'='0', 'ack'='0'))); $result = $this-Comment-getMessages($user_id); $this-assertEqual($result, $expected); } I've been dealing with this for a day now and I'm starting to be put off by CakePHP's unit testing. In addition to this issue -- Servral times now I've had data inserted into by 'default' database configuration after running tests! What's going on with my configuration?!

  • Manage Foreign key and Drop downlist for optional field in .NET

    - by Brij
What is the best way to handle following situation? A dropdown(for master table) is optional in a particular form. But, In database table the field is constrained with foreign key. If user don't select from dropdown then It creates problem because of foreign key. One solution is to create default option in master table and use it in case of blank selection. but in dropdown, we need to handle this to show on top. Is it perfect solution? Is there any other optimized solution for this? Thanks

Client code is pretty simple: <form action="DDServlet" method="post"> <input type="text" name="customerText"> <select id="customer"> <option name="customerOption" value="3"> Tom </option> <option name="customerOption" value="2"> Harry </option> </select> <input type="submit" value="send"> </form> Here is the code on the Servlet Enumeration paramNames = request.getParameterNames(); while(paramNames.hasMoreElements()){ String paramName = (String)paramNames.nextElement(); //get the next element System.out.println(paramName); } When I print out, I only see, customerText, but not customerOption. Any idea why guys? What I hope is, if I select Tom in my option, once I submit, on my servlet I should able to do this: String paramValues[] = request.getParameterValues(paramName); and get back value of 3

  • 'echo' or drop out of 'programming' write HTML then start PHP code again

    - by thecoshman
For the most part, when I want to display some HTML code to be actually rendered I would use a 'close PHP' tag, write the HTML, then open the PHP again. eg <?php // some php code ?> <p>HTML that I want displayed</p> <?php // more php code ?> But I have seen lots of people who would just use echo instead, so they would have done the above something like <?php // some php code echo("<p>HTML that I want displayed</p>"); // more php code ?> Is their any performance hit for dropping out and back in like that? I would assume not as the PHP engine would have to process the entire file either way. What about when you use the echo function in the way that dose not look like a function, eg echo "<p>HTML that I want displayed</p>" I would hope that this is purely a matter of taste, but I would like to know if I was missing out on something. I personally find the first way preferable (dropping out of PHP then back in) as it helps draw a clear distinction between PHP and HTML and also lets you make use of code highlighting and hinting for your HTML, which is always handy.

  • I have a php form dropdown menu that needs to send information

    - by shinjuo
    I have a dropdown menu that is filled by a mysql database. I need to select one and have it send the information for use on the next page after clicking submit. It does populate the drop down menu like it is supposed to it just does not seem to catch the data on the next page. Here is what I have: removeMain.php <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title></title> </head> <form action="remove.php" method="post"> <?php $link = mysql_connect('********', '********', '*********'); if (!$link){ die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } mysql_select_db("********", $link); $res = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM cardLists order by cardID") or die(mysql_error()); echo "<select name = CardID>"; while($row=mysql_fetch_assoc($res)) { echo "<option value=$row[ID]>$row[cardID]</a></option>"; } echo "</select>"; ?> Amount to Remove: <input type="text" name="Remove" /> <input type="submit" /> </form> <body> </body> </html> remove.php <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title></title> </head> <body> <?php $link = mysql_connect('*********', '*********', '*********'); if (!$link){ die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } mysql_select_db("***********y", $link); $query = sprintf("UPDATE cardLists SET AmountLeft = AmountLeft - %s WHERE cardID = '%s'", mysql_real_escape_string($_POST["Remove"]), mysql_real_escape_string($_POST["CardID"])); mysql_query($query); mysql_close($link); ?> <br /> <a href="removeMain.php"> <input type="submit" name="return" id="return" value="Update More" /></a> <a href="index.php"> <input type="submit" name="main" id="main" value="Return To Main" /></a> </body> </html>

  • Automatically select option from select menu with link

    - by Ben
Hello there, I am trying to use php (and if not php, javascript) to link to a page and include a "?type=foo" or "#foo" at the end of the link so that when the linked page loads it will automatically select a specific option, depending on the end of the link, from a dropdown menu in a form. I have tried to search for this but do not know what this action is actually called, but I've seen it done before. Does anyone know how to achieve this? Thanks very much.
