• FBX 3ds max export, bad vertices

  I need to import model in OpenGL via Fbx SdK, and for testing purposes I created a simple box centered in the (0, 0, 0), length 3, in 3ds max. Here's the image: But when i exported it, and imported in the OpenGL it wasn't in the center. Then I exported it in ASCII format, and opened the file in Notepad, and really Z coordinates were 0, and 3. When I converted model to editable mesh and checked every vertex in 3ds max it had expected (+-1.5, +-1.5, +-1.5) coordinates. Can anyone help me with this one? I'm really stuck. I tried to change whole bunch of parameters in 3ds max export, but every time it changes Z koordinate.

• SSD temperature sensor readout with hddtemp

  Vor einiger Zeit hatte ich ein Papier mit Empfehlungen fuer den sicheren Einsatz von LDoms veroeffentlicht.  In der Zwischenzeit hat sich so manche veraendert - eine Aktualisierung des Papiers wurde noetig.  Neben einigen kleineren Rechtschreibkorrekturen waren auch ettliche Links veraltet oder geandert.  Der Hauptgrund fuer eine Ueberarbeitung war jedoch das Aufkommen eines zweiten Betriebsmodels fuer LDoms.  Ein einigen wenigen kurzen Worten:  Insbesondere mit dem Erfolg der T4-4 kam es immer oefter vor, dass die Moeglichkeiten zur Hardware-Partitionierung, die diese Platform bietet, genutzt wurden.  Aehnlich wie bei den Dynamic System Domains werden dabei ganze PCIe Root-Komplexe an eine Domain vergeben.  Diese geaenderte Verwendung machte eine Behandlung in diesem Papier notwendig.  Die aktualisierte Version gibt es hier: Secure Deployment of Oracle VM Server for SPARCSecond Edition Ich hoffe, sie ist hilfreich!

• ATI Radeon HD 4650 AGP Video card not recognized properly

  I have an ASUS ATI Radeon HD 4650 AGP in this system (yeah, I know how old it is). I've been on Ubuntu since 10.04, and the system has never properly recognized the card. I have always had the VESA drivers installed. Now that I have the time to address the problem, 12.04 was listing the card as "Unknown" under the System Settings. Meanwhile, Sysinfo recognizes the card as: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RV730 Pro AGP [Radeon HD 4600 Series] (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Device 0028 So I know that this card should be using the radeon driver (or even the radeonhd driver). However, when I installed the mesa-utils package, the card is suddenly reported as: Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 0x300) So now, I'm completely at a loss. It seems that the llvmpipe stuff has to do with OpenGL, but it still appears that I don't have the proper video driver installed. That being said, anyone know what I can do to force the system to recognize the card and use the radeon driver? [EDIT 05.28] I did look at some other information, including glxinfo and a couple of other commands (it was REALLY late, so I don't remember the other commands) and I got these: glxinfo | grep vendor: server glx vendor string: SGI client glx vendor string: Mesa Project and SGI OpenGL vendor string: X.org glxinfo | grep renderer: OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on AMD RV730 One of the other commands gave a whole lot of info and near the end stated that the activation string for the radeon driver was "modprobe radeon". I've tried that from sudo and as root, but it doesn't seem to change anything. I'm at a complete loss. I've even added the xorg-edgers ppa to my Software Sources and updated and rebooted the system, but nothing has changed. Most of all, I can't seem to find any documentation on this issue, as it seems that it's assumed that the radeon driver will install automatically, no questions asked. I feel like such a newbie. Does anyone have any ideas on this? Or is ther a way to use this as a tmeplate and change the appropriate lines and activate the radeon driver through this file?

  Das Oracle Enterprise Repository (OER) ist die zentrale Stelle zur Verwaltung von SOA Artefakten aller Art, mit dem Ziel, den gesamten Lebenszyklus dieser Artefakte zu begleiten. Es ist wesentliche Grundlage für deren Wiederverwendung, für die Ermittlung von Abhängigkeiten, wie auch für die Bestimmung des Wertes dieser Artefakte, was wiederum für den Nutzen der SOA Implementierung von Bedeutung ist. In AIA 11g wird die aktuelle Version des OER unterstützt und wird zusätzlich ergänzt durch die Project Lifecycle Workbench, in der die funktionale Spezifikation, die Aufteilung der Prozesse, oder beispielsweise die Generierung des Deployment Plans erfolgt.Für die Bereitstellung der Artefakte des Foundation Pack 11g gibt es inzwischen ein zugehöriges AIA Solution Pack für OER, mit dem die entsprechenden Strukturen, sowie die Bestandteile des Foundation Packs 11g, also EBOs, EBMs, EBSs, usw. unabhängig von einer AIA Installation direkt importiert werden können. • Mostrar Imagenes en ListView utilizando ImageList WinForms

  El día de hoy veremos como trabajar con los controles ListView e Imagelist de WindowsForms para poder leer y mostrar una serie de imágenes. Antes de ello debo decir que pueden existir otras formas de mostrar imagenes que solo requieren un control por ejemplo con un Gridview pero eso será en otro post, ahora nos centraremos en la forma de realizarlo con los controles antes mencionados. Lo primero que haremos será crear un nuevo proyecto de windows forms, en mi caso utilizando C#, luego agregaremos un Control ImageList. Este control será el que utilicemos para almacenar todas las imágenes una vez que las hemos leído. Si revisamos el control, veremos que tenemos la opción de agregar la imágenes mediante el diseñador, es decir podemos seleccionarlas manualmente o bien agregarlas mediante código que será lo que haremos. Lo segundo será agregar un control ListView al Formulario, este será el encargado de mostrar las imagenes, eso sí, por ahora será solo mostrarlas no tendrá otras funcionalidades. Ahora, vamos al codeBehind y en el Evento Load del form empezaremos a codificar: Lo primero será, crear una nueva variable derivando DirectoryInfo, a la cual le indicaremos la ruta de nuestra carpeta de imágenes. En nuestro ejemplo utilizamos Application.StartUpPath para indicarle que vamos a buscar en nuestro mismo proyecto (en carpeta debug por el momento). DirectoryInfo dir = new DirectoryInfo(Application.StartupPath + @"\images");   Una vez que hemos creado la referencia a la ruta, utilizaremos un for para obtener todas la imágenes que se encuentren dentro del Folder que indicamos, para luego agregarlas al imagelist y empezar a crear nuestra nueva colección. foreach (FileInfo file in dir.GetFiles()) { try { this.imageList1.Images.Add(Image.FromFile(file.FullName)); }   catch { Console.WriteLine("No es un archivo de imagen"); } }   Una vez, que hemos llenado nuestro ImageList, entonces asignaremos al ListView sus propiedades, para definir la forma en que las imágenes se mostrarán. Un aspecto a tomar en cuenta acá será la propiedad ImageSize ya que está será la que definirá el tamaño que tendrán las imágenes en el ListView cuando sean mostradas. this.listView1.View = View.LargeIcon;   this.imageList1.ImageSize = new Size(120, 100);   this.listView1.LargeImageList = this.imageList1;   Por último y con ayuda de otro for vamos a recorrer cada uno de los elementos que ahora posee nuestro ImageList y lo agregaremos al ListView para mostrarlo for (int j = 0; j < this.imageList1.Images.Count; j++) { ListViewItem item = new ListViewItem();   item.ImageIndex = j;   this.listView1.Items.Add(item); } Como vemos, a pesar de que utilizamos dos controles distintos es realmente sencillo  mostrar la imagenes en el ListView al final el control ImageList, solo funciona como un “puente” que nos permite leer la imagenes para luego mostrarlas en otro control.   Oops, I did it again... Auch wenn ich seit langer Zeit Projektarbeit im Hardwaregeschäft mache, bin ich doch leidenschaftlicher Softwareentwickler. Meine ersten Programme habe ich 1981 in ein Matheheft geschrieben, noch bevor ich Zugang zu einem Rechner hatte. Später habe ich einige Programme sogar als Shareware für Geld verkauft: Wer kennt noch ARV, das revolutionäre Dateienverwaltungsprogramm, das Dateien automatisch nach Themen soriert auf Disketten organisiert, oder T-Kal, den einfachen und benutzerfreundlichen Terminkalender? Alle waren wirtschaftlich weniger erfolgreich, was wenig wundert. Letztendlich waren es Programme, die ich für mich geschrieben hatte, und nur aus Interesse an den betrieblichen und steuerlichen Prozessen, die mit dem Vertrieb verbunden sind, zum Verkauf angeboten habe.  Nun habe ich es wieder getan. • FGLRX installation without main monitor

  This is a spiritual follow up to this I am doing some modern OpenGL tutorials and I have found that MESA does not support openGL 3.0+, so I need to get back to FGLRX even if its given me grief in the past. Every time I have tried to install FGLRX drivers I generally get thrown to the terminal and have to do some recovery, etc. before I can get them to work. Problem is, now that my main monitor is borked, when I install FGLRX drivers I cannot boot to terminal. Question: How do I back up my current windowing so that when I (inevitably) lost my boot due to FGLRX installation, I can recover it with a livecd without reinstalling, and how can I install it without a main monitor?

But that didn't fix the Software Center. Help would be greatly appreciated. ADDED UPDATE I've tried to install aptitude using dpkg but can't. I have also tried sudo apt-get dist-upgrade sudo apt-get autoremove sudo dpkg --configure -a --force-all and the -f options. • Cocos2D 2.0 - masking a sprite

  I have read this tutorial about how to mask sprites using Cocos2D 2.0. http://www.raywenderlich.com/4428/how-to-mask-a-sprite-with-cocos2d-2-0 But the author talks about OpenGL ES textures and vertices as they were common knowledge. My knowledge about OpenGl is zero raised to infinity. All I want is to use a rectangle to mask a sprite to it. How I would do in Photoshop using a rectangle as mask (yes, I want to clip a sprite to the rectangle bounds and no, I do not want to use the ClippingNode solution, that do not works for animation/scaling etc.). So, can you guys translate the klingon language used in this tutorial and tell how a solid rectangle can be used to mask a sprite in Cocos2D? I am desperate, as my username states. I am searching this for a week and have tried several solutions without satisfactory results. Please help me. Thanks!

  Interested in peoples opinions of Cuda vs openCL following NVidia's Cuda4 release. I had originally gone with openCL since cross platform, open standards are a good thing(tm). I assumed NVidia would fall into line as they had done with openGL. But having talked to some NVidia people, they (naturaly) claim that they will concentrate on CUDA and openCL is hampered by having committees and having to please everyone - like openGL. And with the new tools and libs in CUDA it's hard to argue with that. -I'm in a fairly technical market so I can require the users to have particular HW.

• Brightness Crash and Fan issues in 12.04.1

  I would just like to state beforehand that I am a total novice in using Ubuntu when it comes to the more complex issues. So I thought it would be best to finally come here and ask for help before being re-directed or closed out for a solution. I have already looked high and low on this board for one but nothing came up for my particular case, so I might as well take a shot asking for the first time here. This is what I have at the moment: -Dell Insprion 1764 w/ 64-bit Intel i5 Core -Dual Boot: Windows 7/Ubuntu 12.04.1 32-bit (from 12.04 install) -Unity shell -Linux kernel: 3.2.0-32 generic-pae ...and this is my fglrxinfo: OpenGL vendor string: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. OpenGL renderer string: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series OpenGL version string: 4.2.11627 Compatibility Profile Context The one issue I have with using Ubuntu is brightness. With the driver in every time I use the slider in the brightness and lock settings or use the keyboard function, it freezes, goes black and comes up with a scrambled colors page like this in the video. So I have looked all over this board and the web for answers looking for a solution that might have an answer. This is what I have done so far to fix this: -First Solution: Looking around, I found this small fix using terminal: sudo gedit /etc/rc.local followed by adding this into "rc.local" echo # > /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness This works rarely with the graphics driver still in and I often get lucky say during restart but reboot would only snap back the brightness at max. -Second Solution Simply remove the graphics driver while leaving the solution of first behind. This solves the issue but results in having the monitor flicker and flash at startup which in itself is not a problem to me but maybe not so good for monitor health. Also it causes the fan to speed up throughout the session and render any program that needs the driver useless. -Third Solution This is the most obvious. Just simply use the brightness on AMD Catalyst Control Center software that came with the driver, and I can say that it's form of brightness is HORRIBLE compared to the actual settings. Which leads up to where I am now, back to the driver to stop the fan speed-up and seems that the only solution to the brightness crash is to use the keyboard-controlled brightness at the login screen NOT the desktop if I want the issued effect but will just snap at max bright again if I restart. Fan speed problem is dealt with but now run the risk of crashing my computer if I so much touch the brightness settings. Speaking of which I found this on launchpad and it seems that the issue has been going far since June of 2012. Any help, redirect link or reference would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
