• Who is Configuration Manager?

  I would like to ask members of the community about the role of Configuration Manager, as you see it. I'm not asking what Configuration Management is, as long it had been asked before. What I need to know is: What tasks do you think Configuration Manager should perform (or performs) in your team? What is primary responsibility of Configuration Manager? What are secondary/auxiliary responsibilities of Configuration Manager? Does Configuration Manager need to be in charge of development processes on the project/company or he should be told what to do? What are relations between Configuration Manager, Build Manager, Release Manager, Deployment Engineer, CI Engineer roles? Aren't they all the same - Configuration Management? Maybe term Configuration Management is redundant and Technical/Team Lead should do all the related work instead? It would be really great if you could share your vision and experience.

• Customized windows xp installation

  How to create a customized version of an xp installation cd. I want a hand's off installation that will install all the themes, drivers , and applications I need without my intervention. How can I do that. I tried to make use of this software called Nlite. But when I tested the iso file using virtual box. The virtual box said that there's a certain file that cannot be copied. And by the way, before I customized the original iso image of windows xp sp3, it doesn't have the file copying problem that I mentioned above.

• Problems with Xen installation

  Hello, I have CentOS 5.4 installed. Now I'm trying to install Xen with out connecting to Internet (I have any driver for modem, so I search on Inernet only from Windows). All I have are 7 installation disks. First I done was to find kind of some add/remove programs wizard but it needed connection to Inernet. Second I try was to find Xen rpm on all disks and install it. But I fell on some dependency of some dependency. Third I attempted was to boot from first disk and do upgrade, but also it was unsuccessfully... So my question is: is there some way to install Xen from CentOS installation disks with out network? Thank you for ahead.

• Windows 7 installation asks for DVD drivers

  I have installed Windows XP on my machine (Company CQ5020NL). Before I was able to do that, I set the SATA controller to IDE in the bios. Now I want to install Windows 7 upgrade. The DVD boots into the installation setup, but when I click "Install now" and am asked to load "A required CD/DVD drive device". When I click "Browse" I can browse the installation dvd and the drive I want to install to. I have tried all the SATA options in the bios already. I have no idea what to do... can anybody help me out?

  Thank you to everyone who joined us at Oracle OpenWorld this year, either in person or virtually (thanks for tweeting #oowplm)!  From customer presentations to after-hours networking opportunities, there was a lot to see and do during the entire conference. Sessions It was our pleasure to feature several customer speakers during our PLM sessions at OpenWorld from such companies as Starbucks, Coca-Cola, Facebook, Eli Lilly, and many more.  Each had a unique perspective to share and fascinating insight into how they successfully leverage Agile PLM to facilitate profitable innovation, protect brand integrity, streamline operations, manage compliance, launch faster, etc.  For example, during the Product Value Chain keynote session, CIO Chris Bedi of JDSU shared how they implemented Agile PLM to support business imperatives around rapid innovation, centralizing product information, collaboration, and eliminate the “Excel gymnastics” required to obtain global portfolio visibility. • Install build-essentials in ubuntu 12.04

  After I install a fresh copy of ubuntu and I need to install build-essentials, I have to type: sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get upgrade before installing build-essentials These two commands take a LOOTTT of time and install many things. Is there a way to install build-essentials without running these two commands, or a way that these two commands don't install all the updates and hence will take less time.

We have captured some of the questions with responses below. Is Oracle Identity Analytics still offered as a separate product or is it part of Oracle Identity Manager? Oracle Identity Manager and Oracle Identity Analytics are now offered as part of Oracle Identity Governance Suite. OIA and OIM share a common UI architecture, common data model and common support for connected and disconnected resources.  When requesting new access/entitlements is there an approval process? Yes. We leverage SOA BPEL-based workflows for approvals  Are the identity self service capabilities based on Oracle ADF? Yes they are completely based on Oracle ADF  Can you give some examples of personalization and customization with Oracle Identity Manager 11gR2? With the new UI config framework we can enable different levels of UI customization. Customers now have the ability to Point & click to customize; or drag and drop customization without any need for coding. So users can easily personalize the interface of their application within the browser. For example, they can change the logo, Rearrange, hide Home Page regions; regularly searched items can be saved and re-used; Searchable & search results columns can be configured; Sorting preferences are remembered and so on. For more sophisticated customization, Customers can also edit the standard JSF within the page to alter business rules, modify page flows, page layouts and other items. Can you explain the role of sandboxes in customization? Customers can make their custom changes within a sandbox so that it doesn’t impact their production environment. • Year 2012 So Far...

  It's hard to seek excuses for not showing up in here for regular updates. I'm not venturing into it hence. Year 2012 has been very engaging, both professionally and personally, and I wish to present before you some wonderful people whom I met in the OU classrooms while delivering training programs on various Oracle technologies. While I went through a number of Oracle products in the last few months, two of 'em were more regular than others: Solaris 11 and MySQL.
