    My ASP.NET app is using windows authentication. If I run the following code: WindowsIdentity wi = (WindowsIdentity)User.Identity; foreach (IdentityReference r in wi.Groups) { ListBox1.Items.Add(r.Translate (typeof (NTAccount)).Value); } if (User.IsInRole ("Everyone")) Label1.Text = "Is in role"; The listbox will contain the name of every group the user belongs to. If I then call User.IsInRole, and pass in the name of any of those groups, I always get a false. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks

  • Facebook Graph API: user gender

    The old Facebook API provided the user sex/gender as part of the default user data. Apparently the new Graph API does not provide that information, even though the documentation says that it does. I've heard people say that you need to request special permissions to get it and other pieces of data, but I have not been successful in getting it to work. Does anyone have an example, using the Facebook Graph API, of how to get the user's gender and/or location (city/state/country/whatever)?

    I'm using map kit and showing user's location using "showsUserLocation" I"m using following code to zoom to user's location, but not zooming. Its zooming to some location in Africa, though the user location on map is showing correct.     This is assuming that you (/police/ISP) can get the [rough] location of a laptop based on IP address. If your laptop is stolen, and the thief unwittingly connects it to the Internet, and you have Skype on the laptop could you get the public IP address of the laptop and then go to the police and get it tracked? Or activate the webcam to see the surroundings, but without having Skype ring/notify the user?

    Hi, Is there a way I can delete an image that is loaded into my app from a UIImagePickerController? I want to be able to delete the image from the user's photo library when the user performs a specific action. I am prompting the user to choose a image from their library, then it gets loaded into my app at which point the app does some shnazzy animation, then actually deletes the image. Please help!

  • Assigning a group while adding user in django-admin

    In my application, I have models that have the Users model as a Foreign key, eg: class Doctor(models.Model): username=models.ForeignKey(User, unique=True) ... In the admin site, when adding a new Doctor, I have the option of adding a new User next to the username field. This is exactly what I want, but in the dialog that opens, it asks for a username and password for the new user; I would also like to be able to assign a group to this new user.   • Android Activity is displayed after user unlocks the screen

    Hi, I was wondering if anyone understood how to make your application be displayed when you unlock the screen. I have an application where the user turns on a Bluetooth device, it connects to the phone, and the user should be presented with a UI. Having them hunt for the app or using the notification menu is not a workable option (too much work and not the obvious behavior). The problem is that: When the screen is unlocked: - you can popup the activity from the background service when Bluetooth connects to a device - User is happy because the UI is right there When the screen is locked: - The application gets started but is destroyed - User unlocks the phone and nothing is there but the homescreen One work around would be to disable the keyguard when the application gets woken up but the nuclear option is a pretty bad option. PS: I know the standard Android assumption is that you shouldn't do this. In the normal case this behavior is fine, but in this case I explicitly did something I want the phone to respond without adding more work for the user to do. As per Google's guidelines if you don't like this behavior there can be an option for you to turn this off or you can not use the application.

How would you work around that, so that the shell writes a new line while preserving the line the user's currently typing on?

    I'm looking for a user script that lets me fill out some form fields that are not covered by the Magic Wand in Opera. Alternately I could accept a solution that lets Opera accept other form fields with the Wand.     Hi, i was using gnome-mount to automount drives but in lucid it was removed. So is there any alternatives in lucid except editing fstab and programs that do so? Gnome-mount is a program which mounts disks using the same facilities as when mounting a disk as a normal user through Nautilus. There is no need to setup mountpoints or filesystems. This is particularly interesting if you want to use the automatically created mountpoints instead of manually specifying them for each disk.

  • Backup the Windows user folder in the cloud?

    As I understand it, Google Drive and Dropbox, the two cloud storage providers I happen to know, can only sync a predefined folder that is created upon installation. I'd be happy to have an automated synchronisation of my folders in the cloud, but I'm not ready to change my habits, and start saving all my documents in the folder imposed by the provider. Is it possible with one of these, or any other you might know, to sync the full Windows user folder instead?

  • Effect of HOME on libreoffice to convert to pdf as non-root user

    I installed libreoffice-headless and can convert documents when logged on as root. I then tried doing so as another user, and it didn't show an error, but didn't convert the file. I then found that if I get rid of the HOME=/tmp/ayb, it works with the other user. Doesn't HOME=/tmp/ayb just allow files to default to this directory if not specified? (Sorry, I tried to search "Linux HOME", but as you probably expect, received a bunch of non-relevant results). If not, what is the purpose of specifying HOME? Why does setting HOME prevent it from converting on non-root users? Note that /tmp and /tmp/ayb or both 0777.   • Documenting user scenarios and measuring/testing

    Please forgive me as I don't quite remember the exact terms for what I am talking about... hence my question. Recently I worked on a large Agile team where I encountered a method of defining user scenarios (much like user stories). These scenarios were a few very basic short sentences with keywords and a structure that could be understood by humans (especially project managers) and could also be coded against using some Java Framework (for verifying tests). The exact structure of this mini language used keywords like "when" and "and" or "if" which was how the framework parsed and verified the result. The purpose of this framework was to interface between management and the acceptance testing framework. So essentially management could write the tests themselves using English. The scenario went something like this: "When a user visits URL and User clicks on X Something happens (that can be measured)" Can anyone help me remember exactly what I am talking about? Many thanks

    Is it possible in Asp.NET MVC to proframmatically logout a user? I am aware that you can use: FormsService.SignOut(); But this refers to the context of the webpage making the request. I'm trying to prevent a user logging in twice. So if I call: MembershipUser membershipUser = Membership.GetUser(userName); if (membershipUser.IsOnline == true) { // log this user out so we can log them in again FormsService.SignOut(); } calling: FormsService.SignOut(); has no bearing on the context of the user say, with another webbrowser who is logged in already??

  • Batch File input validation - Make sure user entered an integer

    I'm experimenting with a DOS batch file to perform a simple operation which requires the user to enter a non-negative integer. I'm using simple batch-file techniques to get user input: @ECHO OFF SET /P UserInput=Please Enter a Number: The user can enter any text they want here, so I would like to add some routine to make sure what the user entered was a valid number. That is... they entered at least one character, and every character is a number from 0 to 9. I'd like something I can feed the UserInput into. At the end of the routine would be like an if/then that would run different statements based on whether or not it was actually a valid number. I've experimented with loops and substrings and such, but my knowledge and understanding is still slim... so any help would be appreciated. I could build an executable, and I know there are nicer ways to do things than batch files, but at least for this task I'm trying to keep it simple by using a batch file.

What I want to do is, by default every user's session cookie lasts for example 1 day, but every time user visits the site his session expiration time is extended by one more day. I don't know if it is a good idea to do this, maybe I should just set cookies life time for like a week and that's it? Thanks!
