  • Transform OpenCV image data type to Devil image format and vice-verca

    I want to use a CUDA-enabled SIFT library but I am using the OpenCV driver to get images from the webcam? The Cuda library is using the Devil Library for image data types. Should I transofrm the images from OpenCV data types to Devil? Or Should I use another method for getting images from the webcam[devil compatible data types]? Thanks for your attention

  • Creating a window manager type overlay for Mac OS X

    I want to make my own window manager for OS X, or at least give it the appearance of a new one. I have many designs written down in a book, and would like to implement them. These include altering, or even completely removing, menu bars, creating entirely new guis for switching applications, etc. I know that OS X does not have a window manager, and that basically the functions that an X11 window manager would perform are done by Carbon, Cocoa, the Dock application, and the window server. I've read that it would take an incredible amount of reverse engineering to write my own api, etc. at the hardware level. I am still not that good at programming though, and don't have that kind of time. That's why I was thinking of maybe running an application on top of OS X that will function like a separate window manager - and do everything that the normal OS GUI / window manager would do. Is this possible? For example: making a custom button that would appear upon a certain key combination, that could be clicked to access a document viewer, change the time, minimize a window, etc. Is there some way to access functionality to basic tasks / actions like this without using the default OS X button controls, and implementing them with my own GUI? I am talking about more than a simple theme change, I want to completely change the user experience. This means that this application would be run in a full screen mode that blocks out default OS X menu bars. I've heard something about using graphics architectures to plug in your own window manager? Would this be an option too? If so, how would I go about doing that? Thank you,

    Hi-- I'm seeing some strange behavior from some dynamically generated PDFs using the TCPDF library in PHP. Standard lamp stack-- however, if you try to open the PDF from Windows with Acrobat Reader, it gives an error that the "file is damaged and could not be repaired". From Mac, Linux, etc. the file works fine, and opens fine. It also opens fine in Google Docs-- so clearly the PDF itself is ok. Is it possible that the mime type (application/pdf) is causing problems in Windows? Thanks

    I do some checking of arguments in my classes in php using exception-throwing functions. I have functions that do a basic check ( ===, in_array etc ) and throw an exception on false. So I can do assertNumeric($argument, "\$argument is not numeric."); instead of if ( ! is_numeric($argument) ) { throw new Exception("\$argument is not numeric."); } Saves some typing I was reading in the comments of the php manual page on assert() that As noted on Wikipedia - "assertions are primarily a development tool, they are often disabled when a program is released to the public." and "Assertions should be used to document logically impossible situations and discover programming errors— if the 'impossible' occurs, then something fundamental is clearly wrong. This is distinct from error handling: most error conditions are possible, although some may be extremely unlikely to occur in practice. Using assertions as a general-purpose error handling mechanism is usually unwise: assertions do not allow for graceful recovery from errors, and an assertion failure will often halt the program's execution abruptly. Assertions also do not display a user-friendly error message." This means that the advice given by "gk at proliberty dot com" to force assertions to be enabled, even when they have been disabled manually, goes against best practices of only using them as a development tool So, am I 'doing it wrong'? What other/better ways of doing this are there?

  • IValidator.Validate method and adding error message to a custom type

    I have several server controls that implement the IValidator interface. As such, they have their own Validate() methods that look like this. public void Validate() { this.IsValid = true; if (someConditionFails()) { ErrorMessage = "Condition failed!"; this.IsValid = false; } } I understand that these Validate() methods are executed on postback before the load completed event that is executed before the save button's event handler. What I would like to do is pass in a reference to an instance of a custom class that collects all the error messages that I can access from Save button event handler. In other words, I would like to do something like this: public void Validate(ref SummaryOfErrorMessages sum) I guess I can't do this as the signature is different from what the IValidator interface has. The other option I can think of is on Load Completed event, I would iterate through all the validators on page, get the ones with IsValid = false and create my SummaryOfErrorMessages there. Does this sound right? Is there a better way of doing it?

    I'm trying to use Windsor as a factory to provide specification implementations based on subtypes of XAbstractBase (an abstract message base class in my case). However, when I try to resolve ISpecification<ZImplementation> Windsor throws an exception: "No component for supporting the service ISpecification'1[ZImplementation, AssemblyInfo...] was found" Does Windsor support resolving generic implementations down to base classes if no more specific implementation is registered?

    In java, assignment is atomic if the size of the variable is less that or equal to 32 bits but is not if more than 32 bits. What(volatile/synchronized) would be more efficient to use in case of double or long assignment. like, volatile double x = y; synchronized is not applicable with primitive argument. How do i use synchronized in this case. Of course I don't want to lock my class. so this should not be used.

    In my java coding, I often end up with several Map<String,Map<String,foo>> or Map<String,List<String>> and then I have trouble remembering which String is which key. I comment the declaration with //Map<capabiltyId,Map<groupId,foo>> or //Map<groupId,List<capabilityId>, but it's not the greatest solution. If String wasn't final, I would make new classes CapabilityId extends String and GroupId extends String, but I can't. Is there a better way to keep track of which thing is the key and maybe have the compiler enforce it?

    Hello, I'm quite new to iphone programming and I want to do the following stuff: get data from a JSON REST web server parse the received data using YAJL Draw a graph with those data using core-plot So, 1th item is fine, I use ASIHttpRequest which runs as espected 3rd is almost fine (I still have to learn how to tune core-plot). The problem I have is regarding 2nd item. I use YAJL as it seems to be the faster parser, so why not give it a try :) Here is the part of code that gets the data from the server and parse them: // Get server data response_data = [request responseData]; // Parse JSON received self.arrayFromData = [response_data yajl_JSON]; NSLog(@"Array from data: %@", self.arrayFromData); The parsing works quite well in fact, the NSLog output is something like: 2010-06-14 17:56:35.375 TEST_APP[3733:207] Array from data : { data = ( { val = 1317; date = "2010-06-10T15:50:01+02:00"; }, { val = 1573; date = "2010-06-10T16:20:01+02:00"; }, ........ { val = 840; date = "2010-06-11T14:50:01+02:00"; }, { val = 1265; date = "2010-06-11T15:20:01+02:00"; } ); from = "2010-06-10T15:50:01+02:00"; to = "2010-06-11T15:20:01+02:00"; max = "2590"; } According to th yajl-objc explanations http://github.com/gabriel/yajl-objc, the parsing returns a NSArray... The thing is... I do not know how to get all the values from it as for me it looks more like a NSDictionary than a NSArray... Could you please help ?     I want to pass 2 variables: UIImage * img int i into another method that only takes a (void *) I tried making a C struct containing both img and i struct MyStruct { UIImage *img; int i; } but xcode gives me an error saying "ARC forbids Objective-C objects in structs or unions" The next thing I tried is to write an objective-c class MyStruct2 containing img and i, alloc-initing an instance of it and typecasting it as (__bridge void*) before passing it to the method. Seems little involved for my use case. Seems like there should be a better way. What's the simplest way to achieve this? Thank you. Edit based on comments: I have to use void * as it is required by the UIView API. I created a selector as mentioned by UIVIew API + (void)setAnimationDidStopSelector:(SEL)selector Please see documentation for setAnimationDidStopSelector at http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#documentation/uikit/reference/UIView_Class/UIView/UIView.html . It says ... The selector should be of the form: - (void)animationDidStop:(NSString *)animationID finished:(NSNumber *)finished context:(void *)context I want to pass both img and i into the (void *)context argument.

However some extensions have multiple mimetypes, for example; midi[] = "application/x-midi" midi[] = "audio/midi" midi[] = "audio/x-mid" midi[] = "audio/x-midi" midi[] = "music/crescendo" midi[] = "x-music/x-midi" 6 (possible) mimetypes for 1 extension. Whats common practice to determine the correct mimetype? (e.g. i need to set a HTTP content-type header). I know its not ideal; determining mimetypes based on extension.. but i need consistent (cross-server) results (e.g. fileinfo extension in PHP is making terrible guesses*). * Some fileinfo results for example; js - text/plain css - text/c-h

    I can detect that the iPhone went to sleep and came back from sleep, by using the applicationWillResignActive and applicationDidBecomeActive. But how do I find out what kind of interrupt it was. I am making an audio player application, and need to keep the audio playing when the iPhone goes to sleep (which I know how to do). But I need to interrupt the audio when a message, alarm or low battery interrupt occurs. Also I need to resume the audio when the event is over. So how do I differentiate between these different interrupts.

This is because the .Net runtime system only guarantees commonality of anonymous types (<string, int> in this case) within assemblies. Is there any way to fool the runtime system to overcome this?
