  • IIS 7.5 website application pool with full administrator permissions hackable?

    Although I would never do this, I would like to know how a static html website with the permission mentioned in the title could be compromised. In my humble opinion, I would guess that this would pose no threat since a web visitor has no way to upload/edit/delete anything. What if the site was a simple PHP website that simply displayed ‘hello world’? What if this PHP site had a contact us form that was properly sanitized? Thank you

    I have a 'clean' CentOS system with webmin, running Apache2 and BindDNS. When I try accessing the domain without www, I get instantly redirected to www.domain.name, as the Firebug Net console screenshot below displays http://pokit.etf.ba/upload/pokit141661fa46b11782745bb974d5140004.png What I need to know is; which are the most often reasons for this?   • Transferring slides from one computer to another and the images are lost

    I used OpenOffice Impress to make some slides for a presentation and when I try to transfer the slides to another computer the images are lost, with text displayed in their place describing the location that the images could be found. This happens when I save in odp and ppt and also when I try to upload the slides to Google Docs. Any idea what is wrong? While making the slides I just dragged and dropped the images into the presentation.

  • How to scale out image hosting/serving?

    I asked this question on stackoverflow and it was suggested that I try it here: I'm building a website where users can upload photos and I'd also convert uploaded photos into thumbnails. Planning ahead, if the website gets popular, how do I scale it out so that the images (both original and thumbnails) will be stored in and served from multiple servers? Maybe a cluster? Is there any open source software that would help me in this? Thanks.

  • Unable to commit file through svn, server sent truncated HTTP response body

    I have my own VPS, on which I want to run a simple SVN + chiliproject setup. I have re-installed SVN, CHILI and the OS several times, and it always works for a couple of hours/days and then it just stops working. Well, everything works, except I can't upload any files. Committing directories seems to work just fine, but when I try to commit a file it breaks. The odd thing is that files won't get added, but directories are fine. I also have enough storage left on my machine. What I should note, perhaps, is that I use Ubuntu 12.04.3 with ruby 1.9.3, mysql 14.14 and I have it set up that Chiliproject handles the authentication and authorization for the project. It works, because I can commit directories and read it all correctly, though I can't upload files. Help would really be appreciated, as I don't know what on earth is going on with this 'truncated http response body'. I tried to read them with wireshark, but it basically gave me the same information. With regards, Ps. I have no clue what the delay between put and delete is, as it's a file of a mere 500 bytes, so it's uploaded in approximately a second. Pps. I copied this question from StackOverflow to this site, as I didn't know the existence of this site and another user suggested that I'd get more answers here, as it's basically a server fault.

I managed to login to SSH and i typed pwdbut it gave me a shared hosting pathway like /home/content/r/o/s/roshanjonah How Can i go to the path where i upload my files to...i use FTP but in FTP path it just shows / so i cannot go any further back than that...so using SSH how can i come to this path in ftp...   • Can I disable comments by default on my YouTube videos?

    Comments are unfortunately always automatically enabled when I upload a video to YouTube either via their website or iPhoto, but more often that not I later manually disable comments for each uploaded video by following the steps from the "comments on my videos" section of YouTube Help. I would much rather have comments automatically disabled, that is to say, disabled by default, for all of my uploaded videos. Is this possible? I couldn't find a setting for it.

  • Load Balancer sftp persistence when a server goes offline

    Let's say we have the following scenario: We have two identical *nix servers using a shared filesystem. We connect through SFTP (not FTPS) to one of them to upload a file to the shared filesystem, the server goes offline and we get redirected to the second system which is still available. My question is, would there be any connection persistence or the user will have to relogin? I guess a relogin would be needed because the ssh sessions are not shared between the two systems...     I always get a remote connection time out when using PuTTy and also when i send emails with attachments from a mail sever installed on Debian. I always get this error.     Is it possible to rename an archive in Amazon Glacier? The documentation says: After you upload an archive, you cannot update its content or its description. The only way you can update the archive content or its description is by deleting the archive and uploading another archive. That would lead me to think that it's not possible, but I'm not sure whether the file name is considered part of the archive description.

I realize there are many tools to do this, but when using dstat 0.7 I tried the following command: dstat -d The output is just two columns of zeroes even when I upload a large file via scp that should be causing a large number of disk writes. Why is this, and how do I get dstat to correctly display the number of disk reads and writes?

  • Hebrew filenames in the URL

    We have a CMS that enables users to upload images and flashes to their site. Sometimes the filenames are in Hebrew. In our development server there is no problem, but in our production server we get a 404 error when the filename ends with Hebrew characters. I tried comparing the sites in the IIS, but I'm not sure what to even look for, so I'd be very happy to get pointers as to what might be causing the problem.
