  • Objective C: Initalizing static variable with static method call

    - by adranale
The Compiler claims an error saying: "initializer element is not constant", when I try to initialize a static variable inside a method with a call to a static method (with + in its definition). Anyway I can tell him that this method always returns the same value. I know this is not the same as static method, but there seems to be no constant methods in Objective-C (other than macros which won't work here because I am calling UI_USER_INTERFACE_IDIOM() from inside the method).

  • Google Maps Marker Click Event

    - by Mike
I'd like to populate a google map with several markers. When the user clicks on a marker I would like it to send the user to a different webpage which is designated for that location. (for example: lets say the markers represent homes, when you click on a marker it takes you to a page with more information about the home) What is the simplest way to do this?

  • F#'s fshtmldoc.exe using Mono/OS X

    - by John Clements
This is doubtless something obvious, but downloading the F# PowerPack from codeplex and running fshtmldoc produces this error: clements$ mono ./fshtmldoc.exe FSharp.PowerPack.dll Processing 'FSharp.PowerPack.dll'... Unexpected failure while writing HTML docs: An exception was thrown by the type initializer for Microsoft.FSharp.Metadata.AssemblyLoader This is using mono 2.6.3, F# 2.0 1.9.9.9, & OS X 10.6.3 on a 32-bit intel processor. Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks, John Clements (repost from powerpack online discussion group--no response there)

    - by Tom
    Hi all, Im trying to create a map, where the key is an int, and the value is an array int red[3] = {1,0,0}; int green[3] = {0,1,0}; int blue[3] = {0,0,1}; std::map<int, int[3]> colours; colours.insert(std::pair<int,int[3]>(GLUT_LEFT_BUTTON,red)); //THIS IS LINE 24 ! colours.insert(std::pair<int,int[3]>(GLUT_MIDDLE_BUTTON,blue)); colours.insert(std::pair<int,int[3]>(GLUT_RIGHT_BUTTON,green)); However, when I try to compile this code, I get the following error. g++ (Ubuntu 4.4.1-4ubuntu8) 4.4.1 In file included from /usr/include/c++/4.4/bits/stl_algobase.h:66, from /usr/include/c++/4.4/bits/stl_tree.h:62, from /usr/include/c++/4.4/map:60, from ../src/utils.cpp:9: /usr/include/c++/4.4/bits/stl_pair.h: In constructor ‘std::pair<_T1, _T2>::pair(const _T1&, const _T2&) [with _T1 = int, _T2 = int [3]]’: ../src/utils.cpp:24: instantiated from here /usr/include/c++/4.4/bits/stl_pair.h:84: error: array used as initializer /usr/include/c++/4.4/bits/stl_pair.h: In constructor ‘std::pair<_T1, _T2>::pair(const std::pair<_U1, _U2>&) [with _U1 = int, _U2 = int [3], _T1 = const int, _T2 = int [3]]’: ../src/utils.cpp:24: instantiated from here /usr/include/c++/4.4/bits/stl_pair.h:101: error: array used as initializer In file included from /usr/include/c++/4.4/map:61, from ../src/utils.cpp:9: /usr/include/c++/4.4/bits/stl_map.h: In member function ‘_Tp& std::map<_Key, _Tp, _Compare, _Alloc>::operator[](const _Key&) [with _Key = int, _Tp = int [3], _Compare = std::less<int>, _Alloc = std::allocator<std::pair<const int, int [3]> >]’: ../src/utils.cpp:30: instantiated from here /usr/include/c++/4.4/bits/stl_map.h:450: error: conversion from ‘int’ to non-scalar type ‘int [3]’ requested make: *** [src/utils.o] Error 1 I really cant see where the error is.   • Custom Collection Initializers

    - by Jake
Classes that implement IEnumerable and provide a public void Add(/* args */) function can be initialized like in the following example: List<int> numbers = new List<int>{ 1, 2, 3 }; which calls the Add(int) function 3x after initializing the List<int>. Is there a way to define this behavior explicitly for my own classes? For example, could I have the initializer call a function other than the appropriate Add() overload?

  • How do I set default host for url helpers in rails?

    - by ja.kub.cz
I would like to do something like this config.default_host = 'www.subdomain.example.com' in some of my configuration files, so that object_url helpers produce link beginning with http://www.subdomain.example.com I have tried to search the docs but I did not find anytnig exept ActionMailer docs and http://api.rubyonrails.org/classes/Rails/Configuration.html which is not usefull for me, because I do not know in which pat to look. Is there a place which describes the whole structure of Rails::Initializer.config? Thanks for helping Jakub

  • How to make an image randomizer from gallery directory?

    - by zebraman
Hello, I would like to make a image randomizer/slider that randomly displays an image from a designated gallery and has controls to view the next/previous image. I have seen this done where images must be coded into arrays, but I would like to be able to just drop images into a /img/gallery directory and have the randomizer/slider pull random images from that directory. Could anyone offer some guidance on how to do this, possibly using jQuery, or refer me to a tutorial that does something like this?

  • resharper "cleanup code" vs. 'var' keyword

    - by bitbonk
I have an odd behavior with code clean up for c# in visual studio 2008 Team Developer Edition. Whenever I clean up my code using "Full Cleanup" it replaces all var declaration with explicit type declarations. But I have set the appropriate settings under "Inspection Severity" "Use var keyword when initializer explictly declares type" and "use var keyword when possible" to "Show as Error" Is there any other setting I need to set or is this a known bug?

  • How to create constant NSString by concatenating strings in Obj-C ?

    - by eric-morand
Hi guys, I'm trying to instanciate a constant NSString by concatanating other NSString instances. Here is what I'm doing in my implementation file : static NSString *const MY_CONST = @"TEST"; static NSString *const MY_CONCATENATE_CONST = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"STRING %@", MY_CONST]; It leads to the following compilation error : Initializer element is not constant I suppose this is because stringWithFormat doesn't return a constant NSString, but since there is no other way to concatenate strings in Obj-C, what am I supposed to do ? Thanks for your help, Eric.

  • Execute script with Ruby on Rails?

    - by yuval
I want to start my daemon with my application. In the command line, I can write something like lib/daemons/mydaemon_ctl start to start up my daemon, but I have to do this manually. I want the daemon to start when I start my server (i.e. when the initializer files are loaded). Is there a ruby command for executing a command line? Something like exec "lib/daemons/mydaemon_ctl start"? Thanks!

  • Constructor within a constructor

    - by Chiramisu
Is this a bad idea? Does calling a generic private constructor within a public constructor create multiple instances, or is this a valid way of initializing class variables? Private Class MyClass Dim _msg As String Sub New(ByVal name As String) Me.New() 'Do stuff End Sub Sub New(ByVal name As String, ByVal age As Integer) Me.New() 'Do stuff End Sub Private Sub New() 'Initializer constructor Me._msg = "Hello StackOverflow" 'Initialize other variables End Sub End Class

  • AMQP subscriber inside Rails app

    - by Fotios
Is it possible to start an AMQP subscriber with my Rails app? Possibly through an initializer or something. I'd like to have it running at the same time that can also interact with Rails models. Below is a pseudo-code example of what I mean. queue.subscribe do |msg, body| Foo.create(....) end

  • Devise: Allow users to edit their account without providing a password BUT also use 'reconfirmable' functionality

    - by Betjamin Richards
I've been following this how-to in the Devise wiki... How To: Allow users to edit their account without providing a password ...to enable my users to change the account credential and update without providing their existing password. However, I also want to use the Confirmable modules reconfirmable functionality Even though I have config.reconfirmable = true set in my devise initializer file the controller doesn't seem to be sending the reconfirmable emails. Any ideas what's wrong?

  • How to create a CPU spike with a bash command

    - by User1
I want to create a near 100% load on a Linux machine. It's quad core system and I want all cores going full speed. Ideally, the CPU load would last a designated amount of time and then stop. I'm hoping there's some trick in bash. I'm thinking some sort of infinite loop.

  • Initializing a C++ vector to random values... fast

    - by Flamewires
Hey, id like to make this as fast as possible because it gets called A LOT in a program i'm writing, so is there any faster way to initialize a C++ vector to random values than: double range;//set to the range of a particular function i want to evaluate. std::vector<double> x(30, 0.0); for (int i=0;i<x.size();i++) { x.at(i) = (rand()/(double)RAND_MAX)*range; } EDIT:Fixed x's initializer.
