  • Windows Server 2008 R2 DNS - One IP, multiple servers

    I need opinions and examples on how to best to accomplish the setup I am looking for. I have a public-facing AD domain server with one public IP address. I have setup an external zone for example.com and I successfully have my own name servers pointing to it at ns0.example.com and ns1.example.com. I also have an internal zone for my private network at home.example.com. I am behind a router with the domain server in the DMZ. I want dev.example.com to be accessible from the outside world over https and to point to internal IP address 192.168.1.78. Likewise, I want www.example.com to be accessible from the outside world and point to internal IP address 192.168.1.79. Both dev and www servers are CentOS 5.6 VMs running inside of Hyper-V on the domain server (bad idea I know but I am limited on hardware atm). What is best way to achieve this? From what I have read and researched on Google, I may need to setup a reverse proxy but I am not sure how well that will work with SSL.

  • Software to store my password on a crypted file and access it through another password

    I'm looking for a software that allows me to store some passwords in something like "a text file", access it through a password, read my passwords if required and close it again. I want something really straightforward, double click on file, right click "Add new password", add password, description and close. The file must be really secure, I'll store all my passwords there. I know about some command line solutions but I want my setup to be really fast on reading. Do someone know if such a software exist and can point me in the correct direction? I would like to find it freeware, but I'm ok with some low cost tools too.

  • Do I need a license to create pdf files? [closed]

    I hope this is the correct place where I could ask this question. My mother is an accountant with a degree in economics. She works as a freelancer and she needs some licenses for her job. The biggest problem is adobe acrobat standard, which costs 400€, quite a lot. I want understand if she must buy it to create pdf files or she can use some free (even for commercial use) programs that she has because of her job (the chamber of commerce provide some advantages to accountants). She is actually using PDFCreator, which as I can read is free for business usage (open source also!!): http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/ Thanks for any suggestion

  • Unable to create suitable graphics device?

    I've been following the Eye of the Dragon tutorial, which is basicly a guide to making a 2D RPG game, obviously. I recently finished the tutorial about making pop up screens in the menu and changed the screen to load as a full screen. Whenever I try and load the game it just goes black and my mouse sits there. I cannot change out of it other then with CtrlAltDel. Once i do that it says No suitable graphics card found, unable to create graphics device. I read somewhere about XNA not allowing more then one screen when any one of them is full screen. but it wasnt very informative. Anyone have any ideas whats going on and/or how to fix this?   • Spending the summer at camp… Web Camp, that is

    Microsoft is sponsoring a series of Web Camps this summer. They’re a series of free two day events being held worldwide, and I’m really excited about being taking part. The camp is targeted at a broad range of developer background and experience. Content builds from 101 level introductory material to 200-300 level coverage, but we hit some advanced bits (e.g. MVC 2 features, jQuery templating, IIS 7 features, etc.) that advanced developers may not yet have seen. We start with a lap around ASP.NET & Web Forms, then move on to building and application with ASP.NET MVC 2, jQuery, and Entity Framework 4, and finally deploy to IIS. I got to spend some time working with James before the first Web Camp refining the content, and I think he’s packed about as much goodness into the time available as is scientifically possible. The content is really code focused – we start with File/New Project and spend the day building a real, working application. The second day of the Web Camp provides attendees an opportunity to get hands on. There are two options: Join a team and build an application of your choice Work on a lab or tutorial James Senior and I kicked off the fun with the first Web Camp in Toronto a few weeks ago. It was sold out, lots of fun, and by all accounts a great way to spend two days. I’m really enthusiastic about the format. Rather than just listening to speakers and then forgetting everything in a few days, attendees actually build something of their choice. They get an opportunity to pitch projects they’re interested in, form teams, and build it – getting experience with “real world” problems, with all the help they need from experienced developers. James got help on the second day practical part from the good folks that run Startup Weekend. Startup Weekend is a fantastic program that gathers developers together to build cool apps in a weekend, so their input on how to organize successful teams for weekend projects was invaluable. Nick Seguin joined us in Toronto, and in addition to making sure that everything flowed smoothly, he just added a lot of fun and excitement to the event, reminding us all about how much fun it is to come up with a cool idea and just build it. In addition to the Toronto camp, I’ll be at the Mountain View, London, Munich, and New York camps over the next month. London is sold out, but the rest still have space available, so come join us!     Having read this question In what order are the different parts of a class initialized when a class is loaded in the JVM? and the related JLS. I would like to know in more detail why for example having class Animal (superclass) and class Dog (subclass) as following: class Animal { static{ System.out.println("This is Animal's static block speaking"): } { System.out.println("This is Animal's instance block speaking"); } class Dog{ static{ System.out.println("This is Dog's static block speaking"); } { System.out.println("This is Dog's instance block speaking"); } public static void main (String [] args) { Dog dog = new Dog(); } } Ok before instantiating a class its direct superclass needs to be initialized (therefore all the statics variables and block need to be executed). So basically the question is: Why after initializing the static variables and static blocks of the super class, control goes down to the subclass for static variables initialization rather then finishing off the initialization of also the instance member? The control goes like: superclass (Animal): static variables and static blocks subclass (Dog): static variables and static blocks superclass (Animal): instance variables and instance blocks sublcass (Dog):instance variables and instance blocks What is the reason why it is in this way rather than : superclass -> static members superclass -> instance members subclass -> static members sublcass-> instance members

  • Is there a language offering LISP-like macros with a more complex syntax?

    LISP's macros are extremely powerful constructs, and the inability to introspect and modify the program itself beyond the method signature level has always struck me as a limitation. Yet I favour "complex" syntax because it tends to be closer to natural language. So far I have failed to find a language which combines a powerful macro mechanism such as LISP's with a naturally looking syntax (1). Is anyone aware of such a language? Footnote: I would consider python to have a naturally looking syntax as it allows constructs like this: if 0 < a < 5 and b in list. The avoidance of braces to structure blocks is irrelevant in this case, though.

    my headphones are stereo but I would like the sound from the left and right to be combined then sent to both headphones. The reason is I'm watching a video where the people speaking are in the right ear as well as the music but they never speak in the left ear (it is not because they on the right side of the screen) If I take the right headphone off then I only hear the music in my left and there is no speaking.

  • C#: How to force "calling" a method from the main thread by signaling in some way from another thread

    Sorry for long title, I don't know even the way on how to express the question I'm using a library which run a callback from a different context from the main thread (is a C Library), I created the callback in C# and when gets called I would like to just raise an event. However because I don't know what will be inside the event, I would like to find a way to invoke the method without the problem of locks and so on (otherwise the third party user will have to handle this inside the event, very ugly) Are there any way to do this? I can be totally on the wrong way but I'm thinking about winforms way to handle different threads (the .Invoke thing) Otherwise I can send a message to the message loop of the window, but I don't know a lot about message passing and if I can send "custom" messages like this Example: private uint lgLcdOnConfigureCB(int connection, System.IntPtr pContext) { OnConfigure(EventArgs.Empty); return 0U; } this callback is called from another program which I don't have control over, I would like to run OnConfigure method in the main thread (the one that handles my winform), how to do it? Or in other words, I would like to run OnConfigure without the need of thinking about locks

  • C++ Formatting like visual studio c# formatting

    I like the way Visual studio (2008) format C# code; unfortunately it seems it doesn't behave in the same way when writing C++ code. For example, when I write a code in this way: class Test { public: int x; Test() {this->x=20;} ~Test(){} }; in C# (ok this is C++ but you can understand what I mean), this part: Test() {this->x=20;} Will become Test() { this->x=20; } This is obviusly a stupid example, but there are a lot of things where putting brackets in correct position, indenting code and other things with my own hands becomes boring. I can obviusly change editor if you suggest me a good one for C++ code, I would like to find something with these features: Intellisense (like vs, at least similiar) Custom class coloring (in c# they are cyan, why are they black in c++?) Wordwrap (possibly) Documentation when you mouse over a method/variable Auto formatting (when you close a bracket like "}" in c# you'll get everything well formatted) obviusly I can find other features, but this is what is in my mind at the moment.     I know it's stupid but visual studio (2010) doesn't gray out my properties tagged with ReadOnlyAttribute, I can't edit their values (if I try to do it, simply return to the previous value), but they aren't grayed out, I think it's really boring this when using the editor Is there an option or an attribute that I'm forgetting?     I have a need to replace multiple strings with others in a query from p in dx.Table where p.Field.Replace("A", "a").Replace("B", "b").ToLower() = SomeVar select p Which provides a nice single SQL statement with the relevant REPLACE() sql commands. All good :) I need to do this in a few queries around the application... So i'm looking for some help in this regard; that will work as above as a single SQL hit/command on the server It seems from looking around i can't use RegEx as there is no SQL eq Being a LINQ newbie is there a nice way for me to do this? eg is it possible to get it as a IQueryable "var result" say and pass that to a function to add needed .Replace()'s and pass back?     Update: Looks like the query does not throw any timeout. The connection is timing out. This is a sample code for executing a query. Sometimes, while executing time consuming queries, it throws a timeout exception. I cannot use any of these techniques: 1) Increase timeout. 2) Run it asynchronously with a callback.   • Reverse PInvoke and create a full unmanaged C# program

What I really don't know is if is possible to import a c++ dll (expecially std libraries) in C# if I don't use any namespace (even System) The idea is just to write a program using everything that you will normally use in C++ (nothing from CLR so), even printf for example Thanks for any answer

    Is is wise to redistribute the pdb files along with a commercial application? Occasionally, I'm using the stack trace to get a more detailed error reporting logs from the deployed applications; can this functionality be achieved without relying to those files? Also, how much hints of the original source code does these files contain? Would it be easier to reverse-engineer my application using it?
