  • Data logged to a file; how do I rotate logs and how do I parse the data to not have 'gaps' in the da

    - by phidah
I've got a web application that, for performance reasons, throws any data sent into a logfile. I've got two concerns with this approach: How do I best rotate logs, in order to not lose data? For each user session multiple requests are logged. Each request has a unique id so there is an easy way for me to tie the requests to the session. The problem is, however, that if I rotate the logs I risk ending up with one request in one log and another request in another log. How do I arrange my parsing in a way that allows me to parse all requests from a given session? I am willing to define a session timelimit, for example that the requests must, at maximum be 30 minutes apart. If I had a hourly log rotation at 00 minutes: What if the user made one request at 13:59 and one at 14:01 - The user would end up having requests in two different logs.

  • How do I pass the currently logged in user's credentials to a web service using Integrated Windows A

    - by Chris Smith
I am having a frustrating time trying to do something with Perl that would take a couple of lines of code in C#, namely to call a web service on a Windows server that requires Integrated Windows Authentication. The most likely candidate I've found for success is a module called LWP::Authen::Ntlm, but all the examples I've googled require you to explicitly supply username, password and domain. I don't want to do that - I just want the request to use the credentials of the currently logged in user, a la CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials in .NET. Have any of you Perl gurus out there ever had to do this? Thanks.

  • Programmatically login to a website and redirect the user to the logged in page?

    - by Santhosh
Hi, Right now, I have all the employees of my company login to an external website using the company id, username and a password. We are trying to integrate it into an intranet portal which should provide seamless access to this website without requiring the user to enter these credentials. Is there any way of doing this programmatically (.NET C#)? Very similar to screenscraping, Can I simulate the appropriate POST action and then redirect the user to the logged in page? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

  • php smarty not passing to browser unless logged in.

    - by Kyle Sevenoaks
I'm not the best at understanding these things with php and smarty, but this is really annoying. On: http://www.euroworker.no/order, there is meant to be a display of the amount of tax included in the price like: Tax (25%): 772,- Totalt: 3861,- But unless the user has logged in or created a new account, the tax doesn't display. Here is the Smarty code: <tr id="taxtr"> <td>&nbsp;</td> <td>&nbsp;</td> {foreach $cart.taxes.$currency as $tax} <td>&nbsp;</td> <td colspan="4" class="subTotalCaption2">{$tax.name_lang}:&nbsp;</td> <td class="amount taxAmount2">{$tax.formattedAmount}&nbsp;</td> {$cart.formattedTotal.$currency {$GLOBALS.cartUpdate|@array_shift} {/foreach} </tr> I don't know about all the inner workings of this system (Livecart), but is there anything I can do or look through to make it force the calculation/display. Thanks..

  • MySQL/PHP: How to insert logged in user id into another table that is gathering data from a form tha

    - by Lisa
For the first time I am needing to join information from two tables and am quite nervous about doing it without any advice first. Basically, I am building a secure site that is accessed by authorised users. I have my login table with user_id, username, password Once the user is on the site, they have the option of inputting data into another table called input. At the moment this table only captures the information that is entered, not the user_id or username of the inputter. I would like the form to be able to input the user_id and/or username from the login table into the input table. Please could somebody talk me through this process? I am sure that once this is amended, I will then be able to use the table to only allow the logged in user to access the information that he or she have inputted, is that correct? Many thanks

  • Trace output not getting logged in output file at times.

    - by Mini
I'm using TextWriterTraceListener to log error messages to a text file. The TraceOutputFile has been mentioned in the web.config file as "trace.log.txt". The error messages are getting logged to the trace.log.txt. But at times I notice that some files are getting generated randomly under root folder with the exception details instead of logging to the trace.log.txt. This is not happening in any particular page and hence I am unable to detect the reason as to why these files are getting generated.Ex:14dbc20a-9eb8-4fec-b6bd-54400db2ceatrace.log.txt . Can u suggest me any circumstances when this might happen?

  • How can I get a scheduled task to run for a user regardless of which computer the user is logged onto?

    - by Ernst
I've got a scheduled task that needs to run for a user at a specific time. However, the user sometimes logs onto one machine, the next day onto another, then next week onto yet another. At some pint during the day, the user might have to log onto another machine. How do I get the scheduled task to run regardless of which computer the user is using? I could of course create the task on all computers, but that seems a bit overkill. Running a script on log on (or a group policy) to create the task doesn't seem a good method either. Any ideas? Basically I want the scheduled task to be defined on the user instead of on the computer. If in the end I need to choose between the two options above, which is best?

  • VPN: Does all traffic get routed through the VPN when I am logged in?

    - by Dan
If I log into a slow VPN with only a 15k/s connection, when I try to go to kernel.org or some other site to download something, is everything getting routed through that other network? (so my max speed for all downloads is 15k/s?) Or are only the DNS requests getting routed and I can still get my normal download speeds I would have been able to before logging into the router?

  • Leave bash script running on remote terminal while not logged in?

    - by mechko
I have a bash script that takes several hours to run. While it's running, I would like to do other things, which may involve logging out or disconnecting from the internet (my script runs network tests on various computers). I understand that there is a command that would allow me to run my tests from a remote terminal and logout of the terminal while it runs. Does anyone know what this command is? Thanks

  • How do I troubleshoot a server I can't get logged into?

    - by Karl
This morning I am unable to log into SQL Server because it appears to be busy doing something, so much so that CPU usage is constantly at 98%-99%. I am guessing that something has gone wrong with the maintenance plan that ran over the weekend, but I can't get into the error logs see what is happening. On logging in I keep getting messages like "insufficiently memory in the buffer pool" and "the server is not responding". Is there any way I can figure out what is happening without logging onto to the server? Or some way I can squeeze in a login?

  • Icon on user account desktop before the user has logged in.

    - by JHamill
Currently working on a Windows 7 deployment project and I have a requirement to place an RDP icon on a specific users desktop, lets call this user 'Guest'. The image itself will be completely vanilla and all user accounts will be created using commands in the Unattend file. The 'Guest' account will not be a local admin and so it will not be the account used for autologon during the application of the unattend file. As a result of this, the 'Guest' profile will not have been created so I'm unable to simply place the icon at C:\Users\Guest\Desktop. Is there a way to place an icon on this specific users desktop prior to logging in with it? I know there are ways around this i.e. include this account in the base image and log in with it in order to create the profile but I'd like to keep the base image as vanilla as possible. Any ideas or pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • How can I use sudo when I logged in with a SSH key in PuTTY?

    - by Alex
I know the title probably doesn't even make sense, but anyway. I downloaded PuTTY and set it up, and followed this tutorial to set up SSH keys so I don't have to input a user or password when logging in with SSH. I noticed that when I made a new user I used the --disabled-password parameter, since I wouldn't be needing it... but now when I give the user sudo powers I can't proceed as it asks me for the user's password, and I don't have one. What do I do?

  • Django custom managers - how do I return only objects created by the logged-in user?

    - by Tom Tom
I want to overwrite the custom objects model manager to only return objects a specific user created. Admin users should still return all objects using the objects model manager. Now I have found an approach that could work. They propose to create your own middleware looking like this: #### myproject/middleware/threadlocals.py try: from threading import local except ImportError: # Python 2.3 compatibility from django.utils._threading_local import local _thread_locals = local() def get_current_user(): return getattr(_thread_locals, 'user', None) class ThreadLocals(object): """Middleware that gets various objects from the request object and saves them in thread local storage.""" def process_request(self, request): _thread_locals.user = getattr(request, 'user', None) #### end And in the Custom manager you could call the get_current_user() method to return only objects a specific user created. class UserContactManager(models.Manager): def get_query_set(self): return super(UserContactManager, self).get_query_set().filter(creator=get_current_user()) Is this a good approach to this use-case? Will this work? Or is this like "using a sledgehammer to crack a nut" ? ;-) Just using: Contact.objects.filter(created_by= user) in each view doesn`t look very neat to me. EDIT Do not use this middleware approach !!! use the approach stated by Jack M. below After a while of testing this approach behaved pretty strange and with this approach you mix up a global-state with a current request. Use the approach presented below. It is really easy and no need to hack around with the middleware. create a custom manager in your model with a function that expects the current user or any other user as an input. #in your models.py class HourRecordManager(models.Manager): def for_user(self, user): return self.get_query_set().filter(created_by=user) class HourRecord(models.Model): #Managers objects = HourRecordManager() #in vour view you can call the manager like this and get returned only the objects from the currently logged-in user. hr_set = HourRecord.objects.for_user(request.user)

  • Using PHP to get the source code of a URL I must be logged in to reach

    - by Maxwell
I am trying to write a PHP script that will get the source code of a page in my Amazon account. However, to reach that page, I must be logged in. From what I understand, I should be able to accomplish this by posting the correct request headers, and then capturing the HTML response. Is that correct? If so, I'd really appreciate it if someone could explain to me how exactly I would do this. If it's not right, I'd love to hear the correct way of doing it! I've used Firebug to get the request and response headers I need. It's just a matter of what to do with them now. I read elsewhere on this site that you can't send a request with the PHP post method, and that perhaps using cURL is the way to go. I really know nothing about cURL, so the more info the better. Also, feel free to point me to some useful tutorials on this topic. Thanks! Max

  • What's the best technique to protect my framework from visitors who are not logged in?

    - by Hermet
First of all, I would like to say that I have used the search box looking for a similar question and was unsuccessful, maybe because of my poor english skills. I have a a 'homemade' framework. I have certain PHP files that must only be visible for the admin. The way I currently do this is check within every single page to see if a session has been opened. If not, the user gets redirected to a 404 page, to seem like the file which has been requested doesn't exist. I really don't know if this is guaranteed to work or if there's a better and more safe way because I'm currently working with kind of confidential data that should never become public. Could you give me some tips? Or leave a link where I could find some? Thank you very much, and again excuse me for kicking the dictionary. EDIT What I usually write in the top of each file is something like this <?php include("sesion.php"); $rs=comprueba(); //'check' if ($rs==1) { ?> And then, at the end <?php } ?> Is it such a butched job, isn't it? EDIT Let's say I have a customers list in a file named customers.php That file may be currently on http://www.mydomain.com/admin/customers.php and it must only be visible for the admin user. Once the admin user has been logged in, I create a session variable. That variable is what I check on the top of each page, and if it exists, the customers list is shown. If not, the user gets redirected to the 404 page. Thank you for your patience. I really appreciate.

  • New ways for backup, recovery and restore of Essbase Block Storage databases – part 2 by Bernhard Kinkel

    - by Alexandra Georgescu
After discussing in the first part of this article new options in Essbase for the general backup and restore, this second part will deal with the also rather new feature of Transaction Logging and Replay, which was released in version 11.1, enhancing existing restore options. Tip: Transaction logging and replay cannot be used for aggregate storage databases. Please refer to the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Backup and Recovery Guide (rel. 11.1.2.1). Even if backups are done on a regular, frequent base, subsequent data entries, loads or calculations would not be reflected in a restored database. Activating Transaction Logging could fill that gap and provides you with an option to capture these post-backup transactions for later replay. The following table shows, which are the transactions that could be logged when Transaction Logging is enabled: In order to activate its usage, corresponding statements could be added to the Essbase.cfg file, using the TRANSACTIONLOGLOCATION command. The complete syntax reads: TRANSACTIONLOGLOCATION [ appname [ dbname]] LOGLOCATION NATIVE ?ENABLE | DISABLE Where appname and dbname are optional parameters giving you the chance in combination with the ENABLE or DISABLE command to set Transaction Logging for certain applications or databases or to exclude them from being logged. If only an appname is specified, the setting applies to all databases in that particular application. If appname and dbname are not defined, all applications and databases would be covered. LOGLOCATION specifies the directory to which the log is written, e.g. D:\temp\trlogs. This directory must already exist or needs to be created before using it for log information being written to it. NATIVE is a reserved keyword that shouldn’t be changed. The following example shows how to first enable logging on a more general level for all databases in the application Sample, followed by a disabling statement on a more granular level for only the Basic database in application Sample, hence excluding it from being logged. TRANSACTIONLOGLOCATION Sample Hyperion/trlog/Sample NATIVE ENABLE TRANSACTIONLOGLOCATION Sample Basic Hyperion/trlog/Sample NATIVE DISABLE Tip: After applying changes to the configuration file you must restart the Essbase server in order to initialize the settings. A maybe required replay of logged transactions after restoring a database can be done only by administrators. The following options are available: In Administration Services selecting Replay Transactions on the right-click menu on the database: Here you can select to replay transactions logged after the last replay request was originally executed or after the time of the last restored backup (whichever occurred later) or transactions logged after a specified time. Or you can replay transactions selectively based on a range of sequence IDs, which can be accessed using Display Transactions on the right-click menu on the database: These sequence ID s (0, 1, 2 … 7 in the screenshot below) are assigned to each logged transaction, indicating the order in which the transaction was performed. This helps to ensure the integrity of the restored data after a replay, as the replay of transactions is enforced in the same order in which they were originally performed. So for example a calculation originally run after a data load cannot be replayed before having replayed the data load first. After a transaction is replayed, you can replay only transactions with a greater sequence ID. For example, replaying the transaction with sequence ID of 4 includes all preceding transactions, while afterwards you can only replay transactions with a sequence ID of 5 or greater. Tip: After restoring a database from a backup you should always completely replay all logged transactions, which were executed after the backup, before executing new transactions. But not only the transaction information itself needs to be logged and stored in a specified directory as described above. During transaction logging, Essbase also creates archive copies of data load and rules files in the following default directory: ARBORPATH/app/appname/dbname/Replay These files are then used during the replay of a logged transaction. By default Essbase archives only data load and rules files for client data loads, but in order to specify the type of data to archive when logging transactions you can use the command TRANSACTIONLOGDATALOADARCHIVE as an additional entry in the Essbase.cfg file. The syntax for the statement is: TRANSACTIONLOGDATALOADARCHIVE [appname [dbname]] [OPTION] While to the [appname [dbname]] argument the same applies like before for TRANSACTIONLOGLOCATION, the valid values for the OPTION argument are the following: Make the respective setting for which files copies should be logged, considering from which location transactions are usually taking place. Selecting the NONE option prevents Essbase from saving the respective files and the data load cannot be replayed. In this case you must first manually load the data before you can replay the transactions. Tip: If you use server or SQL data and the data and rules files are not archived in the Replay directory (for example, you did not use the SERVER or SERVER_CLIENT option), Essbase replays the data that is actually in the data source at the moment of the replay, which may or may not be the data that was originally loaded. • How can I get the previous logged events when a particular logger is triggered?

    - by Ben Laan
    I need to show the previous 10 events when a particular logger is triggered. The goal is to show what previous steps occurred immediately before NHibernate.SQL logging was issued. Currently, I am logging NHibernate sql to a separate file - this is working correctly. <appender name="NHibernateSqlAppender" type="log4net.Appender.RollingFileAppender"> <file value="Logs\NHibernate.log" /> <appendToFile value="true" /> <rollingStyle value="Size" /> <maxSizeRollBackups value="10" /> <maximumFileSize value="10000KB" /> <staticLogFileName value="true" /> <layout type="log4net.Layout.PatternLayout"> <conversionPattern value="%d{dd/MM/yy HH:mm:ss,fff} [%t] %-5p %c - %m%n" /> </layout> </appender> <logger name="NHibernate.SQL" additivity="false"> <level value="ALL"/> <appender-ref ref="NHibernateSqlAppender"/> </logger> <logger name="NHibernate" additivity="false"> <level value="WARN"/> <appender-ref ref="NHibernateSqlAppender"/> </logger> But this only outputs SQL, without context. I would like all previous logs within a specified namespace to also be logged, but only when the HNibernate.SQL appender is triggered. I have investigated the use of BufferingForwardingAppender as a means to collect all events, and then filter them within the NHibernateSqlAppender, but this is not working. I have read about the LoggerMatchFilter class, which seems like it is going to help, but I'm not sure where to put it. <appender name="BufferingForwardingAppender" type="log4net.Appender.BufferingForwardingAppender" > <bufferSize value="10" /> <lossy value="true" /> <evaluator type="log4net.Core.LevelEvaluator"> <threshold value="ALL"/> </evaluator> <appender-ref ref="NHibernateSqlAppender" /> </appender> <appender name="NHibernateSqlAppender" type="log4net.Appender.RollingFileAppender"> <file value="Logs\NHibernate.log" /> <appendToFile value="true" /> <rollingStyle value="Size" /> <maxSizeRollBackups value="10" /> <maximumFileSize value="10000KB" /> <staticLogFileName value="true" /> <filter type="log4net.Filter.LoggerMatchFilter"> <loggerToMatch value="NHibernate.SQL" /> <loggerToMatch value="Laan" /> </filter> <filter type="log4net.Filter.LoggerMatchFilter"> <loggerToMatch value="NHibernate" /> <acceptOnMatch value="false"/> </filter> <layout type="log4net.Layout.PatternLayout"> <conversionPattern value="%d{dd/MM/yy HH:mm:ss,fff} [%t] %-5p %c - %m%n" /> </layout> </appender> <root> <level value="ALL" /> <appender-ref ref="BufferingForwardingAppender"/> </root> The idea is that buffering appender will store all events, but then the NHibernateSqlAppender will only flush when an NHibernate.SQL event fires, plus it will flush the buffer (of 10 previous items, within the specified logger level, which in this example is Laan.*).

  • Can you call FB.login inside a callback from other FB methods (like FB.getLoginStatus) without triggering popup blockers?

    - by Erik Kallevig
I'm trying to set up a pretty basic authentication logic flow with the FB JavaScript SDK to check a user's logged-in status and permissions before performing an action (and prompting the user to login with permissions if they are not)... User types a message into a textarea on my site to post to their Facebook feed and click's a 'post to facebook' button on my site. In response to the click, I check user's logged in status with FB.getLoginStatus In the callback to FB.getLoginStatus, if user is not logged in, prompt them to login (FB.login). In the callback to FB.login I then need to make sure they have the right permissions so I make a call to FB.api('/me/permissions') -- if they don't , I again prompt them to login (FB.login) The problem I'm running into is that anytime I try to call FB.login inside a callback to other FB methods, the browser seems to lose track of the origin of execution (the click) and thus will block the popup. I'm wondering if I'm missing some way to prompt the user to login after checking their status without the browser mistakenly thinking that it's not a user-initiated popup? I've currently fallen back to just calling FB.login() first regardless. The undesired side effect of this approach, however, is that if the user is already logged-in with permissions and I'm still calling FB.login, the auth popup will open and close immediately before continuing, which looks rather buggy despite being functional. It seems like checking a user's login status and permissions before doing something would be a common flow so I feel like I'm missing something. Here's some example code. <div onclick="onClickPostBtn()">Post to Facebook</div> <script> // Callback to click on Post button. function onClickPostBtn() { // Check if logged in, prompt to do so if not. FB.getLoginStatus(function(response) { if (response.status === 'connected') { checkPermissions(response.authResponse.accessToken); } else { FB.login(function(){}, {scope: 'publish_stream'}) } }); } // Logged in, check permissions. function checkPermissions(accessToken) { FB.api('/me/permissions', {'access_token': accessToken}, function(response){ // Logged in and authorized for this site. if (response.data && response.data.length) { // Parse response object to check for permission here... if (hasPermission) { // Logged in with permission, perform some action. } else { // Logged in without proper permission, request login with permissions. FB.login(function(){}, {scope: 'publish_stream'}) } // Logged in to FB but not authorized for this site. } else { FB.login(function(){}, {scope: 'publish_stream'}) } } ); } </script>

  • setting default value of superglobal

    - by Prasoon Saurav
    I have been working on a Timesheet Management website. I have my home page as index.php //index.php <?php session_start(); if($_SESSION['logged']=='set') { $x=$_SESSION['username']; echo '<div align="right">'; echo 'Welcome ' .$x.'<br/>'; echo'<a href="logout.php" class="links">&nbsp;<b><u>Logout</u></b></a>' ; } else if($_SESSION['logged']='unset') { echo'<form id="searchform" method="post" action="processing.php"> <div> <div align="right"> Username&nbsp;<input type="text" name="username" id="s" size="15" value="" /> &nbsp;Password&nbsp;<input type="password" name="pass" id="s" size="15" value="" /> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="submit" /> </div> <br /> </div> </form> '; } ?> The problem I am facing is that during the first run of this script I get an error Notice: Undefined index: logged in C:\wamp\www\ps\index.php but after refreshing the page the error vanishes. How can I correct this problem? logged is a variable which helps determine whether the user is logged in or not. When the user is logged in $_SESSION['logged'] is set, otherwise unset. I want the default value of $_SESSION['logged'] to be unset prior to the execution of the script. How can I solve this problem?

  • How do you get credentials (NetworkCredential) of currently logged in user ?

    - by Ross
Hi, I'm writing some code to utilise a 3rd party component, and I need to supply an object which implements ICredentials when I start to use it. If I write the following... var credential = new NetworkCredential("MyUsername", "MyPassword"); ...and pass "credential", it's fine. But I would like to pass the credentials of the current user (it's a Windows service, so runs as a specified user). I have tried both of the following, but neither appear to work (or return anything): NetworkCredential credential = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials; NetworkCredential credential = CredentialCache.DefaultNetworkCredentials; Can anyone suggest how to acquire an approriate object, which represents the credentials of the username that the service is running under ? Thanks, Ross

  • Search Netflix using API without the user being logged in?

    - by Felix
I'm trying to search Netflix through their API, but without logging anyone in (because I want to do this on the back-end, not necessarily related to any user action). I'm just starting off with their API so please forgive me if I'm doing something completely stupid. Here's the URL I'm trying to access: http://api.netflix.com/catalog/titles/?oauth_consumer_key=MY_CONSUMER_KEY&oauth_token_secret=MY_SECRET&term=fight+club However, that gives me a 400 Bad Request error. Is there no way to browse/search the Netflix catalog without having a user first sign in to my application? Or am I doing something wrong? Note: I'm accessing said URL through my browser, since I only want to perform a GET request, which is what a browser does by default.
