  • How to change default conjunction with Lucene MultiFieldQueryParser

    I have some code using Lucene that leaves the default conjunction operator as OR, and I want to change it to AND. Some of the code just uses a plain QueryParser, and that's fine - I can just call setDefaultOperator on those instances. Unfortunately, in one place the code uses a MultiFieldQueryParser, and calls the static "parse" method (taking String, String[], BooleanClause.Occur[], Analyzer), so it seems that setDefaultOperator can't help, because it's an instance method. Is there a way to keep using the same parser but have the default conjunction changed?

    I am using Lucene with Alfresco. Here is my query: ( TYPE:"{com.company.customised.content.model}test" && (@\{com.company.customised.content.model\}testNo:111 && (@\{com.company.customised.content.model\}skill:or)) I have to search documents which are having property skill of value "or". The above query is not giving any results (I am getting failed to parse query). If I use the query up until testNo (ignoring skill), I am getting proper results: ( TYPE:"{com.company.customised.content.model}test" && (@\{com.company.customised.content.model\}testNo:111)) Can you please help me?     Hi All, I am planing to add search feature in my web application. Now the items that will be searched are strored in a Relational database. In order to achieve a full text search engine I have following doubts : For database based search engine should I use just lucene or some other utility based on Luncene like Solr, luSql, Compass etc. In case of Solr, can it be embeded in to the web applcation rather than deploying it as a seaparate WAR.     I am using Lucene MultiFieldQueryParser and the implementation is as shown below QueryParser parser = new MultiFieldQueryParser (Version.LUCENE_30,new String[] {"First Name","Middle Name","Last Name"}, standardAnalyzer); Query query = parser.parse(queryString); and using it to find a match for the input string in my DB columns First Name, Middle Name and Last name . I am able to get the hits with normal search and fuzzy search - The only problem I am facing is finding which column of the three generated the hit - Can you pls help me here - Thanks

  • Forward web request for directory index ('/') to an index.htm page in JBoss 4.0.5

    I am using JBoss 4.0.5.GA to run a set of java applications. One of them is a web frontend, using Spring 1.4. URL mappings are configured in a way that 'fake' pages from request URLs are mapped to controllers. That means that when someone requests /index.htm, there's no actual 'index.htm' on disk, and that request maps to a specific conroller which then renders a jsp view. So the problem is as follows: I need to tell JBoss to somehow forward all requests for directory indices to corresponding 'index.htm' URLs like so: / ? /index.htm; /news/ ? /news/index.htm; /foo/bar/baz/ ? /foo/bar/baz/index.htm and so on. I can't use Tomcat's welcome-file-list feature because it looks for those files on disk, while all 'index.htm's are fake and don't actually exist on disk.

  • Lucene search on specific field name?

    I have been playing around with an installation of SOLR that indexes some data from my database. I am able to index data and query it back but I was wondering about how field name queries work. For certain fields I am able to specify their name and the search text to have the results return as expected and for other fields, when I specify their name and search text, no results are returned. q=type:book //(this will work) q=type:book AND title:"The Title" //(no results returned) In this example, type is a required field and title is not. For the example where I search by title, I can see the document in the results of the first query having the given title so I know that a document exists that matches this search. Is making a field 'required' the only way to be able to search by field name? [edit] I'm using the default installation and the 'example' folder inside of solr, editing the xml files and using the interface available through start.jar to be able to run, index and query.

  • Lucene case sensitive & insensitive search

    I have a Lucene index which is currently case sensitive. I want to add the option of having a case insensitive search as a fall-back. This means that results that match the case will get more weight and will appear first. For example, if the number of results is limited to 10, and there are 10 matches which match my case, this is enough. If I only found 7 results, I can add 3 more results from the case-insensitive search. My case is actually more complex, since I have items with different weights. Ideally, having a match with "wrong" case will add some weight. Needless to say, I do not want duplicate results. One possible approach is to have 2 indexes. One with case and one without and search both. Naturally, there's some redundancy here, since I need to index twice. Is there a better solution? Ideas?

  • Search Files (Preferably with index) on Windows 2000 Server

    I have many files on a windows server 2000 machine that is setup to act as a networked disk drive, is there anyway I can index the files and make that index available as a search to more people than just me? Bonus if the index can look inside of documents such as readme.txt? If there is no easy way to do this globaly (for all users) Is there a way I could generate and store an index locally on my computer? If this is the wrong place to ask this question, any advice on community more suited?
